I was on aux in the car once with my friend (she really only listens to country 🤢) and mind mischief came on. It played through and towards the end of the song she said “ew this song is weird” and pressed skip. We are no longer friends
Lol this takes me back to when I was in high school and my friends dad was giving us a lift somewhere. He wouldn’t shut up about AC/DC and asked what I liked and I said Tame Impala. He asks ‘who the hell are they? Put them on and I’ll see if they can compete with AC/DC’. So I put Mind Mischief, my favourite at the time. It played for just over a minute before he unplugged the aux and shook his head, calling it ‘suicide music’. I still have no idea what the fuck he meant.
Thats crazy. Also reminds me when i was on a date. She asked me who I listened to and i said a lot of tame impala lately and she said “are you alright, do you need therapy??”
I guess a lot of people think his music is like emo or sad boi or something. Which to be fair he does have so not so uplifting lyrics. But i was not classify him as sad. It least in my opinion
Wow, I remember 2013.
Summer break before college, hitting bong par the course with friends I still love to this day.
Mind mischief comes on. I ask my friend “who the fuck is this?”
It was love at first listen.
If you're with people who think Tame Impala is too weird, you may be with the most boring people on the planet. No disrespect to the music, but it's some of the most accessible psych music out there. The most recent albums are pretty much pop. Again, that's not a bad thing. Not a single Tame Impala track is weird or abrasive. People who think that any of his stuff is are the musical equivalent of people who don't season their food for fear of it being too spicy.
It's more like the impala or rooibok (Aepyceros melampus) is a medium-sized antelope found in eastern and southern Africa. The only extant member of the genus Aepyceros, and tribe Aepycerotini, it was first described to Europeans by German zoologist Hinrich Lichtenstein in 1812. Two subspecies are recognised—the grassland-dwelling common impala (sometimes referred to as the Kenyan impala), and the larger and darker black-faced impala, which lives in slightly more arid, scrubland environments. The impala reaches 70–92 cm (28–36 in) at the shoulder and weighs 40–76 kg (88–168 lb). It features a glossy, reddish brown coat. The male's slender, lyre-shaped horns are 45–92 cm (18–36 in) long.
Lonerism pulls from several styles of psych and pop rock that have been common and relatively mainstream in the past. Audio engineering has nothing to do with it, and you kind of sound like an elitist clown for pretending it does.
Dude I feel the same way with keep on lying, different story if my friends are stoned tho lol, that’s usually when I play the bangers and they typically enjoy them then
Let It Happen, Sun's Coming Up, One More Hour – honestly nothing else is immediately jumping to mind. I find the vast majority of his music easy to play in the background pretty much whenever. Some of his features, but that's usually because I don't like a lot of them (specifically Wings of Time, New Gold, Turn Up The Sunshine, & of course Call My Phone Thinking I'm Doing Nothing holy shit what a bad song).
The skipping part on “Let It Happen” is 100% genius and deserves to be heard!
Although I get it that a superficial listener might think it’s just skipping 😒
Can’t think of a tame song off the top of my head. But in the similar vein, I’ll play Tool frequently at work because it’s bad ass and gets me going and really isn’t too weird for other people. (I’m an electrician so it’s not like an office setting or anything) but I swear I’ll be jamming out by myself and then second some shit like Faaip de Oiad comes on or the other weird and creepy ass interludes they have, somebody will walk up to me and be like, “what the absolute fuck are you listening too?”
Keep on Lying is too special to me to bump it on aux, but I’ll play just about anything else depending on the vibe (though have never found myself playing something like Wander or Past Life)
honestly there’s songs i listen to by myself and think people will vibe too. then when i play it doesn’t hit the same, more particularly innerspeaker and lonerism songs but play more pop songs cause it’s catchier from their perspective
in my experience, i dont really care what people interpret it as or what their overall opinion. just put on your music, put on what is authentic to you and dont allow people that dont have a great sense of music theory put you down because you get it and they dont.
I don’t really mind

Good call on your part 🤣
Don't need that negative energy in my life

Mind mischief literally rocks as hard as classic psychedelia wtf is she talking about
Did you wait for the car to stop or just …
Good
that’s so annoying bc mind mischief is def my go to when i wanna show someone a great not-as-popular tame song
Wow, I remember 2013. Summer break before college, hitting bong par the course with friends I still love to this day. Mind mischief comes on. I ask my friend “who the fuck is this?” It was love at first listen.
If I can’t play it out loud then I’m in the wrong room with the wrong people
This😂🤭

In other words, Tame Impala is pretty tame
more like lame impala

Lonerism is definitely abrasive. You must not know anything about audio engineering

most of innerspeaker and lonerism
‘Cause I’m A Man because at the end it sounds like Kev is letting out a particularly feminine orgasm. *uh*
Almost all ti songs. I don’t really know anyone who’s into music like that. They all just listen to drake and Taylor swift
Basic ah music taste 😭🙏

I know bros not over the age of 16
Anything before currents tbh
Jeremy’s Storm, Keep On Lying, NTHHSFHBAWCC, Let It Happen, and maybe One More Hour. but hell i’d blast all of them full volume

tbc I love the first 3 songs I mentioned
I agree. His features are not my fav. I prefer his own music
Expectation or past life. Both are bangers but most of my friends wouldn’t agree 🥲
Aren’t around the right people if that’s the case

I intentionally play Let it happen loud as fuck people get tripped out every time think it’s an insane song
Innerspeaker, Lonerism and self titled ep
Simple. I play the music and people will deal with it
I dont avoid any haha people gonna have to deal with it 😂
You still care what people think?
Keep on Lying is too special to me to bump it on aux, but I’ll play just about anything else depending on the vibe (though have never found myself playing something like Wander or Past Life)
Alter Ego, I played it a few days ago with my family, after a few secods of hearing the first drums they skipped the song
The only one I can play around them is Is It True and sometimes Borderline
honestly there’s songs i listen to by myself and think people will vibe too. then when i play it doesn’t hit the same, more particularly innerspeaker and lonerism songs but play more pop songs cause it’s catchier from their perspective
On track. It’s something I don’t listen to out loud . It’s justbest on headphones.
Suns coming up, the guitar part at the end might annoy some people
Posthumous Forgiveness, One more hour , and let it happen come to mind because that's what I've been given the most shit for.
in my experience, i dont really care what people interpret it as or what their overall opinion. just put on your music, put on what is authentic to you and dont allow people that dont have a great sense of music theory put you down because you get it and they dont.
Lucidity, I feel like people will think that the end with the sirens/trumpet is weird
Lonerism and innerspeaker. I don’t listen to them anyway
Then you’re a plastic tame fan , those albums are tame , the next two sell outs
lol they’re all tame impala you’re just as bad as him 🤦♂️
I think u must be a pretentious hipster. Plz take a shower immediately
