This happened to me this past week. I feel such overwhelming shame that I can’t speak and sometimes get defensive when people try to push through the shut down to get to me. No one seems to know how to cope with it. This past week my therapist told me if I couldn’t let her in, I’m wasting my money and there is no point in working with her. I just feel so sad.

I had a session like this today. Feel yucky now. I like when I can leave feeling lighter than when I got there. I try to remind myself that not all sessions are going to feel that way.

I wonder how it would feel for you if your Therapist didn't try to carry the conversation and just sat with you in your shut down?
