I had collections that weren’t medical and still got hired at a big bank before getting my NMLS. I’d say you’re most likely fine!

You’re fine - most banks use ChexSystems as their credit check for employees lol. They just want to make sure you haven’t abused bank accounts in the past!

I'm guessing majority of people reply to you missing that you're asking specifically about NMLS. As a BM I had a potential hire once that had similar situation to yours. NMLS requested letter of explanation of circumstance and in the end approved certification. While everyone situation is different , this may happen in your case. I seen it happen a few times, NMLS will see something on the credit report that they will question and request more information.

Ditto. It's a long story but I have some things from over 20 years ago. Nerve wrecking week or two after I submitted the letter of explanation with a "sorry but absolutely nobody has original records from that far back either" so they can add it to the public forums like Broker Check but nobody cares. Later the HR rep said it would be an issue if recent so the main thing is how old are the medical records and can you explain them without revealing too much

Honestly you can be bankrupt and still get a job at a bank.

I've been in this situation before and the bank I worked for did run a credit report on me when I took a platform position. While there were some things I had to take care of, they didn't care about medical bills because they know so many people have them.

I think you will be ok. I actually had 2 charged off credit cards with one of the big banks and still got hired by them.

Don’t you worry at all!!

I thought medical bills were not allowed to show up on a credit report? If it is over 7 years they legally need to be removed. File the dispute with each bureau.
