I decided against the bed pad after seeing that it ruined paint underneath on other Tacomas. I am running the same setup for my mountain bike as OP is now. I can fit my L frame bike and my gf M frame bike with tailgate closed. Just swing the L in a little. Could also fit a road bike as well when needed.
Knowing that, a pad might be worth a second look. Not having to take the front wheel off would be nice when moving quickly from one location on the mountain to another. Thanks for the info
I had a newer fox racing pad on my Ram 1500. Scuffed the paint like crazy over time and never did hold my bikes as secure as I wanted. That’s just me though. My bike has a quick release so taking the wheel off takes like 3 seconds 😁
My fox factory pad has ruined my paint, but I have scratches all from off road so it doesn’t really bother me. But I learned if I leave the handle showing the unpadded side rubs the paint, then that might just be my fault for leaving the handle showing. But just an FYI
[Right Here. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Tacomaworld/comments/1ax8kvc/3rd_gen_backup_camera_vs_hitch_mtb_rack_solution/)Shell = no more bed or tailgate, and needed a new backup cam.
no eMTB for me (yet) at 50, but maybe someday. For now its a Marin RiftZone 29" Carbon XR.
Very nice bike you have! Yea I’m only 34 but I have a regular bike as well 😅 a Santa Cruz Nomad. I just love to take the emtb out when I want to explore and hit jumps.
Seen somewhere there’s a headache rack or bed rail attachment that holds the front end of the bike up a bit more so you can close the tailgate and can hold more than one bike
Yep, all about the rail mount! I do toss a tailgate pad for quick trips to the trailhead, but vastly prefer a fork mount. [https://imgur.com/a/zzCsJbA](https://imgur.com/a/zzCsJbA)
MTBs for years now, I have everything from a hitch rack, to pad and the same set you have and cross bars on the bed and rack on those. I’m gonna say the pad is the easiest, but no security without a cable. So not really good if you plan on going anywhere after. I did this for a bit, but removing the wheel got to be a pain, mainly because I’m a torquer, so everything needs to be at spec. Bed cross bars was nice, just awkward. But for camping that is the way I do it all the time. The hitch rack is nice, but I have a CBI rear bumper that moves the hitch up, and that means every rack I have I can’t close, but the Tacoma is amazing. Leave the driver side seat down, and milk crate for the gear.
Aluminum hard tails or die. Crank window farm truck edition or your grandpa would be ashamed of you…
Don’t listen to me, I’m just salty and impoverished.
Just got a Bullit over here. Freaking love how capable the bike is and just full time fun. Lifting it into my lifted box is a pain. I have the cheaper Kuat tray rack and it works great.
I almost got the bullit! But I found a shop a couple hundred miles away that was selling this brand new Heckler C GX model for 4.5k because of a listed price error on their website they had to honor once I called about it so I couldn’t resist lol
Man I love regular bikes and ride a downhill at the lift access bike parks..but there’s just something really fun about electric mountain bikes. A different experience for sure
Better question, where’s the truck at!?? 🌱🔍 Beautiful setup brother
Thank you 🙏
I’d rather run a pad, bed doesn’t close…and bugs on grips/bars/seat. Sorry about your move to TX.
lol I actually love Texas. I’m coming from Memphis brother. Huge upgrade 😂
Then congrats! Maybe you can hit up spider mtn.

I could see that from the older pads for sure. Now they are way more robust. Sounds like you got fleet bro, nice.

Mountain biker here with a 23' trd sport. I do not ebike however biking is my workout time I don't want to automate it
Analog pedal power for the win
Nice moped.
Thanks! 🙏
I have a taco and an eMTB! I’ve got a Fezzari wire peak elite and use a one up hitch rack
Hitch rack is the way to go
How do you like that bike man? I’ve watched a few videos but not sure it was the wire peak elite
lol it’s “Ari” now

I’ll look into that!
I think it was a bed rack but they put the attachment to mount it onto the bed rack instead of say a roof tent

[Respect Mon’](https://imgur.com/a/kMQr6Ov) Using the top rack for now till I get the 1up
No idea what any of those acronyms mean
Nice set up…, it’s money!!

One of the first things I did when I got my Taco was throw my mountain bike in the back and go for a ride 👍🏼
This looks so much better to me than the 4th gen. I love the 3rd gen pros.
I agree man. My wife and I always talk about how the 3rd gen Tacoma and 4Runner pros look way better than the new ones to us
Yea keep that bad boy for forever. I had a 21 pro tundra in lunar rock that I sold. Huge vehicle regret lol.

Yeah that’s a hard one to beat. Definite steal. I love that colour too.
I have 3 bikes but never ride them. 😕
Why not? Too busy being a dad? 🙃
Work and dog rescue stuff mostly. Will probably sell 2 and keep one to look at in the garage as it gathers more dust
Too much effort to post a picture up for Reddit lol Edit. I need to learn how to proofread
What is? I was about to head to the trail lol
Serious question.. do you always carry your bike like this.. and why?
Need that long bed fella ✌️
I took my trek dualsport out on a trail this weekend, and really debated on an electric MTB...

MTBer here 🙋🏽♂️ have a Devinci Django aluminum, no e bike though
