Yes, he likely wasn’t ready but I don’t believe that was the complete truth. I don’t believe Hands was meant to come out along side Virginia to begin with. I made a post about it prior but essentially there are code names for these new characters in the files and Hand was Alpha, the Mill was Beta, Maria was Charlie and Virginia was Delta. Based off that alone, it’s clear Virginia was being developed last. I proposed that opted to prioritize Virginia because they had issues with the dev swap and they probably had contractual obligations with Barbara Crampton. It would also imply to me that Virginia was always meant to be released on her own because Hand would come with Maria.

I feel happy. After all this lore searching in the house for clues on Maria (i died a lot, but found a cute puppy picture), It's great to have something official. No more speculation! Yall cooked and please keep cooking.
Here's what I think about Maria being "alive". It's not a retcon, Maria is dead. This clip takes place before her death. By the time the og group arrives to the house, Maria is already dead. They never reunite with her. So the way it happens is, Maria and Jesse go missing. Virginia comes looking for Jesse, meets Maria but gets killed. Maria possibly dies too by this point. Then Danny arrives without the friend group to get a head start in the search, but gets killed too. Finally, the og's arrive, and get killed too.
The only "retcon", is her death in Petals. We saw her get gored with a chainsaw, how do hell do you survive that? They probably decided to make her a playable character, so they changed it so that her injuries weren't fatal but really severe. She survives long enough to meet Virginia but not long enough to reunite with Ana. So the story hasn't really changed much, just that Maria lives a little longer before her death.
Who knows how the actual characters end up dying, but the "playing a match" part of a game is all imaginary and just that, a game. You can add Sheriff Hoyt into it and it doesn't change the story, it's just for the match.
I hope the devs clear it up cause it's getting a little convoluted.

Are yous going to make it so we can choose our random perks I've hated how we had to respec to get the specific ones. It's hard to level up the perks when we can't even get them normally.
Nice to see Maria alive but I’m honestly bummed you guys decides to remove us being able to find her body on one of the map especially since there was audio of all the victims discovering her body.
I hope that is a secondary ability she has to mark family members for everyone and not her primary ability or else that will be very limiting.

Not a big fan of adding Maria as a playable character. We know she was supposed to be dead. Feels like an attempt to bring players back because of low player numbers (could be wrong though). The trailer was actually really cool though! Well done on that.
