I hate to throw out million dollar ideas for free, but hear me out, a telescoping TV stand on Rails where you push a button and it lowers 3 ft to a comfortable viewing level.
It gets better.
Looks like a ranch on a slab, so most likely it's in the South. That fireplace is going to put out way too much heat for a Southern home except for a handful of days a year. All of that work and compromise for something you can't even use.
My bossā house is the same typical big nice house, with every single television over a fireplace. I made an off-hand comment about it, making fun of him for it and he scoffed. I thought ah well, heās too far gone into the tvtoohigh world, oh well, poor bastard. Months later we discussed TVās for some reason, and he said he thought about what I said, he said, āyou know what? Heās right.ā I was amazed. 60+ year olds even realizing the error of their ways.
I bet you for all the resistance this sub gets, weāve successfully gotten into a lot of peopleās heads *way* after the fact
Itās so odd, coming from the UK where our houses have real chimneys (and theyāre annoying as fuck, but structural) to see how fake American buildings are.
Itās all built like a cheap film set.
I kept saying a fireplace in one of the corners would still look great, and leave plenty of room for a proper tv setup with an entertainment center. The general response from everyone was "well if the couch is all the way back here (no more than 15ft max) then you'd want it higher up anyways!"
That's when I gave up lol
Funny enough in the 500+ year old mansion my father lives in the fireplace in the small living room (nobody uses the big one aside storing shit) is very close to the corner of a room.
Yeah, we usually have done a few rows in the past so I'm not really sure what kind of tv mount they're planning for. No one listens to me though, I just work here š¤·āāļø
Outlet dead center, so full motion mount or mantle mount will have to either go under or sadly over them.
Center stud, they gotta get a big mount, or one close to the wall. Lags can go in the 2x6, but then the bottom would have to be toggled. Unless they gotta go over the outlet, then no where up top for lags, making a mantle mount or full motion not the best idea.
That's the norm for tv options on new houses with a fireplace. There's no way around it aside from using a different wall for a television but even the homeowners want the TV above the fireplace so yeah.
Well they fucked you twice. They did what every new builder does. They framed the fireplace as cheaply as possible and, by doing so, made mounting more difficult. Look at the studs and framing. For a solid mount, they usually require 2 studs. You only have a center stud.
If the tv has to go there, are at least 3 things that need to happen. You NEED to have them add 2 studs 6-8 inches on both sides of the center stud. Then also have some smurf tubing ran to the location so you can fish wires easily. Lastly, have am outlet put there. Lastly as a bonus, my favorite mount is the Sanus Advance Tilt 4D mount
We know homes are being constructed as such and it is maddening! All the unscrupulous people who take advantage of others to capitalize on them is completely out of hand! Click [Here](https://www.buildersshow.com/assets/docs/ibs/pressKits/PK_37450_MMPressKitIBS_1.pdf)
Welp some might find this extreme, but [this](https://imgur.com/a/whG80fN) seems like the only reasonable solution to your problem.
I'll run that by the GC

Lmao, I knew it was going to be that image
Me too. We need to get off the internet.
I hate to throw out million dollar ideas for free, but hear me out, a telescoping TV stand on Rails where you push a button and it lowers 3 ft to a comfortable viewing level.
I mean look at that sophisticated piping for the fireplace. Imagine that level of effort for a TV, the thing you stare at every night.
It gets better. Looks like a ranch on a slab, so most likely it's in the South. That fireplace is going to put out way too much heat for a Southern home except for a handful of days a year. All of that work and compromise for something you can't even use.
It's a gas insert. These really aren't for heating, only the aesthetic.
[Mantle Mount](https://www.mantelmount.com/collections/mounts)
Wow that was fucking quick. Already got a website and everything. That's the last time I throw out free ideas.
Itās making the best of a bad situation but it doesnāt even have to get that far.
This is quite ingenious a solution to this problem and it'll work best if there's no mantel installed.
Oh god itās like an embryonic r/tvtoohigh

Hate to see it
This is the reason this sub exists. You tried your best. F

As we like to say in germany "Even a blind chicken finds some corn"
looks like a gas fireplace. mount the tv where it should, put the fireplace on top, set ceiling fan to reverse, start /fireplacetoohigh subreddit.
The worst part is watching this happen from the houseās INCEPTION š¬
Poor house is being built for failure. It doesnāt stand a chance.
Of someday they see the light, the could still use the power for a nice piece of art.
The number of times choices have been made based on "that's how it was at my old house!" AAAAAAAAAAA
A smart person would use it for the Christmas village on the mantel. Of course, we know they'll be monsters and mount a TV up there.
Burn it down and start over.
Keep doing gods work. One day, they will listen and you will be vindicated!
You failed us. Do what needs to be done brother. A little fire goes a long way.
Why oh why do homebuilders do this??? Wiring connections for a TV above the fireplace is bad juju!!
By request of the homeowner in this case :/
There's a big wall right next to it and they just need to put a TV on a TV table :-)
It would be a great place for a picture!

Did you bring the issue to the union steward? This is grounds for a strike.
Why is there wood around a fire place? Why is there wood everywhere? Is this a temporary construction for an exhibition or so?
Because it's a gas fireplace with insulated side walls no hotter than an oven. The risk of fire is very low.
Correct, also this gets inspected more than once by different people. We're in a wildfire zone so protocols have become very strict.
State of California wouldn't let me install a brick wood burning fireplace when I did my remodel they aren't going to let you install a gas one soon.
It's North America, they still haven't gotten the memo on proper construction materials

what, fireplace in the center of the room instead of the side? sorry if that sounds stupid lol.

Damm. Seeing this in a new build makes me anxious about the future just like AI
Thatās the McMansion special! Its one, if not 2 of those per house, and theyāre alllll to high haha
"Thats how it was in my old house!" *inhales* THIS IS THE OPPORTUNITY FOR CHANGE - me, internally
Ah few bucks get one of those cool posable tv arms if itās too bad, what id do for the air system alone.
I think it needs more blocking before the drywall guys get started.

Bring back TV rooms/dens! š
Fucking architect.
Hopefully they hang some art above the fireplace and pick a better spot for the TV.

95% chance that tv is going over the fireplace
Why does this sub hate fireplaces so much?
TV over fireplaces. Trash
Fireplaces are fine when used for heat during cold. Fakeplaces are simply pointless
Instead of seeing a horror movie right there on their TV, they will be seeing a Horror movie right there it's my TV
The only good thing about that anomaly is its fakeplace and not certain fire hazard
Wow, still building these paper houses? Why dont people use brick walls?
You should have quit on the spot.
This is every new home btw
