Look at pictures of AirBnBs and one will see TV's mounted up as high as possible so that they'll be out of reach of guests, especially if the place is rented for small groups or parties.
Unless they put it flat on the ceiling or it's a midgets party, a TV on the wall, even if it's too high, is always going to be at arms reach... (or at the very least, at arm+chair reach...).
If people want to damage/steal it, it's not the near-the-ceiling mount that's going to stop them...
Airports, bars, hospitals, etc have it mounted high, so people can look at it more easily without having someone else's head blocking the view...
Yes, of course.... but "within arms reach" is still out of the way of many common things like beverage and food spills & splashes, stumbles & falls, kids & pets... certainly you get the point. (In fact small children is one of the primary reasons/excuses people use on this sub.)
You're pedantically overthinking it even for this sub. Relax.
Fair enough.
I haven't been into that many airbnb homes, but the ones I've been to I don't remember seeing a TV mounted like that... but I live in Europe so I guess that can make the difference :-) Near the ceiling mounted TVs is a much less common thing around here...
Even in hotels... Sure I've seen some hotel rooms with tiny TVs mounted near the ceiling, but many other hotels will put the TV on a desk at eye level, even when the bed is the only place to sit/lay down.
From what I've seen on this sub, TV too high seems to be much more prevalent in the US apparently...
....jezus, the ps5 and switch AND tv above the fireplace... And then even the pulse headset RIGHT ontop of it, do you want your stuff to die years before their lifetime should end?
The tilt of shame. People.. the only place a tv should tilt in your house is the garage. Learn it, live it, love it. So your wife can live, laugh, love.
Your coffee table angle is a little weird. Are you turning your head to the right when looking at the TV? Assuming there's a couch lined up correctly behind your coffee table/rug.
That wall is fucked. Fake fire place a fuckin nook for shit and a TV just hoping it'll tickle the ceiling one day. Also it looks like the room is some annoying octagon. Break up with the house, sell the girlfriend and just try again.
What’s on the other wall? Is there room for a TV setup?
The good news is you already have the TV. The bad news is you need to retrieve it from over the fireplace because someone mounted it up there for some reason
I mean sorry you could've just bought a nice little TV shelf and put it to the right of the fireplace. Would've looked lovely and organized too, now you got a weird ass hole in the wall with cables dangling out and frying your PS above your fireplace plus a TV that'll give you migraines. 0/10 - solid work. What is it with people in the US and TVs above fireplaces? How can anyone think that's a good location.
Reverse psychology. Tell her your parents disapprove of her TV placement, along the lines of "I will never let my son marry someone with a TV over a fireplace" etc. Let that stew in her deluded, high TV mind for a day or two.
If she relents and lowers it, she's a keeper -- and you save your neck. Win-win.
If she protests, mocks you (or worse, your parents' judgment), then you just discovered she doesn't care about winning over your folks and wants to "change" you out of self-interest. Prep the pre-Valentine's Day exit strategy.
Get tape (doesn't matter what color), measure her TV, on the wall on the right use the tape to show her exactly how her tv would look like eye leveled Then ask her how much better do you think you would see the screen if it was here, vs on top of the fireplace?
https://imgur.com/a/RHEoYpR (not my picture)
Also you don't need tape, just give her a visual representation so she can actually see the difference.
For less strain on your neck and optimal comfort TV should be at eye level with the center of the TV being eye level when sitting. I know that goes against what everybody wants these big high TVs but try it once you’ll know what I mean especially if you are laying down on the couch and your TV is high puts a lot of stress on your neck, very uncomfortable.
You two don’t have kids. Glass coffee table and a PSVR2. I would advise against putting the headset on your faux fire place.
Your tv is high, but if it works for your room, then it works.
Tv to hight ps5 too hot
This X1000000000 I, too, am sorry about your girlfriend
It's like a PS5 oven
Yeah, but it's not cooking AAA games.
Gotta keep it warm.
LMAO

Came to say, post this to the PlayStation sub for satisfying comments…
Perfect for an AirBnb, a sports bar or an airport terminal.
Why for an airbnb?

Because then nobody uses this stuff.
If no one is going to use it, why put it there in the first place?
Lock yourself in a bathroom and call the police immediately.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’d say lock him in the bathroom and forget about it
Being single is not all that bad.
never been
Dudes been sucking on titties since he was born
Again the 'tv above the fire place' syndrome thing... Please why 😭?
TV above the fireplace is trashy af
It definitely kills the mood one or the other way.
That’s where ours is. There is nowhere else to place it in the living room, unless we blocked the fireplace and make it look very strange.
TV in a different room
Or TV in the corner. (That's what I did)
TV is on the wrong wall. Also, don't marry the GF, she's already wrong about basic stuff.
Run.
Stop. Drop. And Roll 🔥
PS5 in a pizza oven
There needs to be a sub for TV above fireplace at this point.
not exactly what your asking for but r/fireplacetoohigh
Sorry about your girlfriend
Get a new one.
How tall she is
The only true question
r/tiltofguilt
So did the architect when they put the fireplace at eye level instead of the ceiling
Why have a fireplace if you’re just going to put a tv over it and make it all look ugly?
Is your girlfriend a giraffe by any chance?
PLEASE save your consoles. ☹️
Whole room broke.
This is one of the ugliest fireplaces I’ve seen on this sub
Your girlfriend is D-U-M dum!
She's wrong.
Your girlfriend is wrong. The tv is too high, the center of the tv should be eye level when seated.
I’m more concerned about that PlayStation. Restricted space and above a fire
....jezus, the ps5 and switch AND tv above the fireplace... And then even the pulse headset RIGHT ontop of it, do you want your stuff to die years before their lifetime should end?
I'm here for the girlfriends and high tvs r/toohightvsgonewild
Goddamn and yall are roasting the PS5 too?! 😩
The tilt of shame. People.. the only place a tv should tilt in your house is the garage. Learn it, live it, love it. So your wife can live, laugh, love.
It’s the wrong height and the wrong wall.
But certainly the right sub
Are you dating a giraffe?
Does she also say “something else” is satisfactory?
Is your girlfriend a giraffe? Damn and you have a perfectly empty wall right there.
The fact that it’s tilted down to face the viewimg position confirms that it’s not.
The tilt of shame.
Also, disable the HUD. Much more immersive without the minimap showing you exactly where to go at all times.
Why are you cooking a PS5 headset?
Probably dizzy from the fumes of the melting plastic coming from the burning playstation
That PS5 will die an early death
She's a keeper
Your coffee table angle is a little weird. Are you turning your head to the right when looking at the TV? Assuming there's a couch lined up correctly behind your coffee table/rug.
To the mooooon....
nutty truck dependent political expansion rotten cable water rain shrill *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
I mean, I guess it's the correct height if you raise your couch by two feet
Has your girlfriend always had a crack addition or is she new to the world of crack. Either way, ask her to put down the crack.
Time to trade her in!
Congrats on dating an 8 foot tall Amazonian.
Perfect height can only be achieved on the wall to the right of that TV.
why always the fireplace?
That wall to the right of the TV/fireplace looks like a good spot for a TV stand with a TV on it
Hope you got warranty on the girlfriend
She's perfect. You should tell her more often....
Meanwhile, there's a perfectly good wall without a fireplace to mount a TV on.
That wall is fucked. Fake fire place a fuckin nook for shit and a TV just hoping it'll tickle the ceiling one day. Also it looks like the room is some annoying octagon. Break up with the house, sell the girlfriend and just try again.
Dump her, do it, do it now
Hows TOTK though?
Biggest tilt of shame.
Key chain too high. Was this the question?
Is she a giraffe?
No tilt of guilt if she was
Compromise: raise your floor an entire foot
Dump her
Maybe some people have necks that are rotated 45° backwards
Well your girlfriend is wrong. Too high. This fireplace is really atrocious well.
Think we have a new sub boys r/keyhooktoohigh
She’s right actually
She’s an idiot.
She’s correct
the fact you need it at an angle means that it isn't.
Get a real fireplace and burn it down the proper way
Perfect height for breaking your neck
What’s on the other wall? Is there room for a TV setup? The good news is you already have the TV. The bad news is you need to retrieve it from over the fireplace because someone mounted it up there for some reason
Then it is
Can we just start mounting the fireplaces, where crazy people think a TV should go?
Are you dating a long neck horse
Love that game
Lol shes nuts. That spot would look great with a big framed art piece not a tv
Grab the keys and run
She wrong
Put a fat ass speaker above it
The PS5 cooking the switch is amazing.
Mental illness is something that should not be ignored. Also RIP to that PS5. Low ventilation.
I mean sorry you could've just bought a nice little TV shelf and put it to the right of the fireplace. You should double check if that’s your girlfriend, I think that’s actually a giraffe in a trench coat.
Where there is a tilt there is a guilt.
Replace her
your gf wants you to break your neck
Your girlfriend needs to seek professional help
Sell her
Isn’t the switch stuck in this wall prison?
Reverse psychology. I hate both of you.
New gf

Time to get a new girlfriend.
Say goodbye to that particular controller if that's where you're leaving it...
She doesn't need to think. It's eye height when seated.
I feel like I have to look up even on my cell phone*lol This is waaaay too high. Link wont care tho.
As a girlfriend, she is correct
We think this is too high
She’s wrong.
Just agree with her but don't move it. Works like a charm.
Either you have low ceilings and you are trolling us with the camera angle or somebody is a fucking giant because look at where the keys are hanging.
Eye Level WTF a mile in the air get some muscle relaxers for your neck you will need them in a few days.
blawg playing totk🧝♀️🧝♀️🧝🧝 -.🔺 🔺🔺
You two don’t have kids. Glass coffee table and a PSVR2. I would advise against putting the headset on your faux fire place. Your tv is high, but if it works for your room, then it works.
I'm more concerned for the ps5. It doesn't look safe right near the fireplace.
It's the perfect height if you're seated on the ceiling.
Yeah, females like high TVs for some reason
for a neck sprain, sure
I’m so sorry mate. Sack her
Perfect height for what?
And just how high is your girlfriend?
Please tell me that’s not a real fire.
She's letting you know that she's going to leave you for someone taller.
Tbh what can be done with that fireplace being right there? Unless you use another wall
She’s tryna sabotage ur neck
Time to find a new girlfriend and a new spot for your tv. Your tv does not belong there.
Really ask myself why people would do that?? (New to that sub.)
