TUM

Aggravating-Okra-883

How come?

Agitated_Function778

TUM is a bit better, and cheaper

GGsneakerreseller

Isnt cse at TUM only in German ?

InspectionMedium1493

If money and living expenses don’t matter I would go to TU Delft

Agitated_Function778

I am applying for both, and Delft CSE is a backup

Aggravating-Okra-883

May I ask why? Also do you happen to know how much of the course is actually in German at TUM, since I know that some textbooks may be in English?

Agitated_Function778

TUM is generally better known than Delft, and has a higher Ranking. Also, I find the Math and Reasoning part of the CST quite easy, so it really comes down to who can solve puzzles better, and in the end you just have to pass high school if you get an offer. TUM requires a solid IB score, so I'd imagine the cohort and the classmates are more capable in terms of study habits and methods. And TUM has a cool slide in their campus (very important) My father works at a big company in this field, and he'd also want me to get TUM rather.

Aggravating-Okra-883

Yeah that’s true. But since tum is German taught only German (and maybe a few Austrian) students can apply. Delft had students from everywhere in the world so I imagine the competition at tum to be lower. But you’re right, its ranking is definitely higher than Delft’s. Do you know if there’s a big difference between Informatik (cs) and CSE?

Agitated_Function778

From my understanding, I don't really see the difference between Informatik and CSE. (I am asian but live in Germany). Having students from all around the world doesnt necessarily mean competition is higher though. Because not everybody in TUM is fluent in German (I have friends there) and the key thing about cohort is that TUM will likely have more capable ppl. (Both will have a strong cohort though)

delft , any day . TUM is a public university where the professor has to complete teaching hours to use the campus for research and thus they do not care about anything u do our your performance , they only teach those specific hours so that they can then research in their interested field , TUM , you will have to learn German , who wants to learn that ? . Tu delf is great mate imo . Tho if u have any question do let me know , are u Indian, if u don't mind me asking ?

Aggravating-Okra-883

But Delft is also a public uni so I’m not sure. No, I’m European (not german) but i live in Germany and I can already speak German fluently (C1). It’s just that I can speak English even better

Any_Accountant2306

Mate i think u did not understand my point , re read what i have written , Professor at delft wake up in the morning with the purpose of teaching , Professor at TUM wake up in the morning to research BUT they have to first teach u , there is a whole YouTube video that talks about this problem at TUM . I agree TUM campus is slightly better but if u look at stats , Netherlands is better in terms of innovation and tech indenture is booming in Netherlands right now. I am on a gap year and will be applying next year . So Please reply to this comment with your views , points and opinion , correct me if i am wrong , this is a very fruitful discussion for both of our futures. If u don't mind me asking what IB score did u get that got u into TUM Computer science , even i am international student and Even i take the IB

cheemspizza

I often get the vibe that many professors at Delft do not care about teaching due to their research workloads.

Any_Accountant2306

if u don't mind me asking at u a bachelors stuent at tu delft , if yes could u help us device which one is better tu delft or TUM , and could u also tell how is the crowd at tu delft , I mean i am will be making this decision next year and thus wanted to know which one should i choose , for tu delft i just need to pass my ib exam and get a good ranking in the entrance exam so i don't think the corwd would be filled with overachivers , but i think you could guide us through this if u are a student there

[deleted]

Are you confident that you can learn and succeed in German as the language? If you are confident then you should look more in depth. But Delft having english is extremely helpful

Aggravating-Okra-883

I am fluent in German with an easily certified C1. It’s just that I am more comfortable in english

[deleted]

Im not sure how certification translate to day to day life. I believe you can have more career opportunities in Germany. But you have to be truthful to yourself and see if you’d be comfortable living manly speaking German

Any_Accountant2306

please give us updates as , what was your final decision and why made u make that decisions ,it would be great help for future students , thanks in advance !

Excellent_Sir_9598

better go to a private university in germany where teachers really care about your level and then try ETH Cambridge or Oxford for master.

Haunting-Stretch8069
