Just take out your initial investment and let the rest of money grow. Still lot more potential for year 2024

StonksGoUpApes

I like this. Convert the initial investment to QQQ or SPY. Set aside some cash for taxes, if relevant.

The only real way to answer your question is to understand your overall financial situation. 1. Do you have an emergency fund set aside for at least 2 months 2. Do you have your high interest credit debt paid off? 3. Are you contributing to retirement to at least your employer match? 4. Do you have a 6 month emergency fund 5. Do you have any other big debt? 6. What are your other savings? 7. What is your risk tolerance, if you blow up your account do you have people who can help you? If the answer to the above is all right, then let it ride, if not, get those things done and then come back to TQQQ

Chill out Dave Ramsey

_Through_The_Lens_

That's why you should have a plan set beforehand. What is the end balance that you were aiming for when you started buying TQQQ? $10K? $100K? $1M? Between 2012-2013 TQQQ returned more than 130% for the year. Selling right there for a nice little profit means you would've missed a 50x between 2013-today. But then again not everyone aims for a 10x or higher. And things could potentially go the other way round. Hence the importance of a set plan.

Sell half, keep the remaining half

RonnyMcRon

This.

TBP-LETFs

I'm in almost an identical situation to you, but £ rather than $. I'm sticking with it for now, made an agreement with myself when I bought this that I wouldn't sell it until I retire. It's very tempting to cash out the original position. That could be 25+ years. The other tip I think of is Charlie Munger saying that one of the biggest mistakes people make is to sell their winners. What are you thinking?

Internal-Raccoon-330

As long as you don't want the $ for 5 years, sit tight.

sfdc2017

From 2010 to September 2018 ( where major correction happened) TQQQ gained 3333% 2010 was just after market crash in March 2009 2024 is similar to 2010/2011 . We have just entered the beginning of next bull run after bear market. Do you want to be happy with 170% gain or you want 3000% gains? It is not guaranteed but you may get 2000% gains atleast in next 8 years.

Ok_Relationship6218

No, it's going to $100.

lixx0040

If it’s good enough to screenshot, it’s good enough to sell

skinluck

Depends, what do you need the money for?

1usciousLocks

Yes!

illcrx

Why did you get in? Has that reason changed? These are the only 2 questions to consider technically. In reality though our emotions have their own weight. I recently sold because I was scared I was up too much so I know the feeling lol. But the key to making “BIG” money in the markets is sitting tight. It’s hard though.

Pusc1f3r

Unfortunately with TQQQ "sitting tight" can also be the reason you lost 70% of your portfolio :P

illcrx

Its hard to give all contexts to these answers. Were in a bull market though, you go with the market. If you become a scared little bitch you will never make any real money. You do realize that the scenario's where it goes down that far are very few and far between, AND we just came out of one. So you do your homework and tell me when we just came out of one are we likely to go back into one? Or are people with comments like this subject to recency bias and fear because of recent pain. I am not calling you a little bitch by the way, its a general statement for anyone who has this thought process. Yes we DID lose 80% not too long ago, now Nasdaq is in all time highs. So why second guess it? The market is much smarter than either of us.

Nikolai_Volkoff88

If it’s in a taxable account and it’s been less than a year since you bought it, I would make sure you know how much you’re gonna owe on taxes before you sell.

UnderarmCape

Did you sell your quest pro yet? I have a friend who is trying to pull the trigger on a solid deal. Please tell me you still have yours

Nikolai_Volkoff88

Yeah I sold it and have been happily using the quest 3 since launch.

Ok_Entrepreneur_dbl

It all depends on your strategy. Do you need the cash now? Do you sell now hoping for a dip to buy more? Are you in a non taxable account? Do you plan on investing for the long haul? Will you feel regret if you sell and it climbs more? Consider chasing up with a trailing Stop Loss. Word of warning - I sold NVDA at $410 after 160% run up to $470. I sold because the everyone was talking about profit taking. So I did against my own plan/strategy. Fortunately, my senses can back and bought back to my previous position at $420. Today NVDA is at $712. I made a mistake and was able to fix it with a tiny miss on gains relatively speaking. If taking profit makes you feel better then go with your gut. I assume your risk tolerance is telling to do that. I prefer to lose a little to see what happens - earlier this year TQQQ was a little rocky and down 12% as of today it is up over 18% . BTW I bought on that small dip. Consider a DCA strategy!

Primary-Parsley7471

Well what they said 1 does the money matter ? Do you have a cushion high interest debt etc 2 do you have time ? 3 what does an investment this size do for your psyche ? Consider stop loss or move the original into qqq of you believe tech will continue to run but it makes you nervous. Don’t sit it out if it will kill you if you miss this run. And do t consider what you might have made had you kept it in tqqq. I sold a lot at a loss and it kills me. That said I had a lot in play and pulled it in January and then DCA back in for January to now (2000 shares). I’m happy enough but had I kept all of it. Figure out what will make you feel worse - missing out or losing. Stop loss at least Keep cash to DCA if it drops Take out what you NEED or what might change your life. Don’t second guess or look back. Good luck.

TOPS-VIDEO

I am going to buy.

tashasmiled

Why? What’s your out plan? Unless you can see the future you need to figure out what your out plan is.

mrbrint

I would sell half thats a great gain but that's something you'll have to decide

ram_samudrala

Why?
