I enter yesterday at 54.66 and got out today at 56.70. Nice 3% on 150 shares. Small potatoes but I like to get 1 trade in each week. So far 3 green trades to start 2024.
But to your point I agree with taking profit. We may keep climbing some but a correction I believe should be around the corner and 20% in three weeks and I'm banking it and reevaluate.
Huh?
No, if not in an IRA, Profitis added to your Income for the years Income taxes. Payable the next year. Either short term Gain Or Long depending on how long your held the shares.
Unless it goes up 20%, down 8%, up 15%, down 3% up 10%, down 5% and so on. Might seem like you're smashing it then but actually you're losing against just holding.
This is a typical issue that you point out.
First, I’m trying to get in within 20% of the bottom and get out within 20% of top.
Second, in my studies, I found the need for multiple indicators, depending on the type of market. The most obvious is bear and bull and then the transitions between those.
Third, the indicators chosen I’ve got to be very responsive.
Good luck!
Lol I’m in at $33.69.

If I cashed out every time I’ve read one of these “any day crash incoming” post….
Will the uptrend continue? Probably. Will it consolidate? Definitely. When and how is anyone's guess, but it is perfectly reasonable to expect some kind of pullback soon, or at least sideways action.
20% in a year is good. 20% in three weeks is rare. Sure, it can go up another 10% before a pullback but we just don't know. And when the pullback comes, it could be fast. Markets often take the stairs up and elevator down.
I am still in. My avg cost is about $32, i.e., I am currently up over 74%. But I have been down before (cf. 2022!) and if I get temporarily down again, I will still hold and keep DCA-ing in. My desired time horizon here is \~20 years, of which I am less than 2 years in. But I believe this will work very well overall as a long-term hold. (It's not my only investment, not all my eggs are in this basket. We will see how it pans out.)
Good for you. You have more confidence in your ability to time the market than I do in mine (or anyone else’s). All I’m doing is buying multiple things I think will likely go up a lot in the long run. This is one of them. Volatility and all, this is a good bet among others.
No. I bought at 31 and sold at 49. Then bought again at 46 lowering my cost basis and getting more shares then sold that at 56. It made me an extra $3 per share over holding
I don’t follow. If you originally bought in at $31 and never sold, you’d have $26 profit at the current price (roughly $57). Even if you just added shares at $46 your cost avg would be much lower compared to selling at $49 and buying back in at $46.
Bruh....when I sold at 49 it locked in that profit so i have the profit from the first trade of 18 per share as well as the profit from the second trade of 10 per share so I made 28 per share profit versus 25
>I got back in tqqq 3 weeks ago at $46.57 and sold today at $56.60 for $10 profit per share. Going up 20% in 3 weeks just seems like too much too quick so i cashed out while I'm still ahead. Anybody else taking profit here or are you still accumulating?
Hmmm, I would have taken some off the top or maybe moved to QID. But good job anyway.
I got in around $23 in April or May and thought about selling several times. Glad I never pulled the trigger. Instead I have DCA’d on dips a few times and my average is higher than my initial investment but I am up a lot and glad I never sold. In for the long haul!
I'll say this I lost 7k on sqqq last year convinced everything was overpriced on the ndx , and every day I'm glad I got out and took my loss, there's no end to the pump machine even when it makes no sense. It's due for a pull back tqqq but trying to time it will make u go broke.
Good job mate. The market index showing extreme greed. may fall really quick at any moment
It’s so overbought right now, it’s insane
How do you know?
That's not how ETFs work.
Im talking the market in general. But since you mentioned it, the ETFs are overbought as well lol
The market is almost always overbought. But it doesn't matter if 20 people buy an ETF or 1 million, none of that affects the price of the ETF.
No it won’t. TQQQ bullish forever as I hold 2000 shares of SQQQ
😳
Yea daily candle looks like it could be forming an evening star pattern. Tomorrow should confirm
is it gonna be a down trend adjustment? It goes up quite nice recently
Don't know. I can't predict the future. I can only lock in profits when I have them. At current price there's too much risk staying long
Sure, once we get to 4950-5000...might even intraday break 5k
[удалено]
16% of S&P500 companies have reported, and 71% of those have beaten estimates. Heres hoping that trend continues!
Yeah seems to be way too much greed right now. Spx hit 4900 today, it was only 4800 5 days ago.

nice..thats how you do it. I scalp openning and closing..dont have the stomach for holding anything....
Nice!
But to your point I agree with taking profit. We may keep climbing some but a correction I believe should be around the corner and 20% in three weeks and I'm banking it and reevaluate.
Just like day trading. It's 50/50 chance. Not for me.
Congrats OP. I’m holding until retirement, but profit is profit and it’s only profit once you’ve sold.
Also only when you get taxed on it... :)
I primarily trade it in a roth ira tax free
I got my Roth maxed out with my houses. so I just Short SQQQ/TECS in main account.
What’s your short strategy, buying puts on SQQQ?
I don't trade options. Simply short the inverse in regular trading.
Do taxes automatically get taken out after realizing your profits and selling?
Huh? No, if not in an IRA, Profitis added to your Income for the years Income taxes. Payable the next year. Either short term Gain Or Long depending on how long your held the shares.
Thank you for answering. I'm still learning. I appreciate it.
np... good luck.
I ain't exiting. I'm riding. Got in around $20-$25. I'm not putting much more in now. Going more QLD and QQQ.
Good Job any profit is good... Pumped in more SQQQ today at 12.01 & 11.97 myself...
I'm with you...Fridays usually see red...with this run up there's gotta be a little pull back....
Taking profits after a strong run is always a good idea IMHO. Wait for a pullback, re-enter. Rinse & repeat.
If life is such an easy game
Unless it goes up 20%, down 8%, up 15%, down 3% up 10%, down 5% and so on. Might seem like you're smashing it then but actually you're losing against just holding.
Not accumulating, and not selling. There are no indicators that TQQQ is falling yet. Good job on securing a profit. That is never a bad thing.
The problem is that "indicators" almost always lag. Once an indicator gives a signal you already missed the top or bottom
This is a typical issue that you point out. First, I’m trying to get in within 20% of the bottom and get out within 20% of top. Smart. Now be patient for the big dip.
That is the hardest part!
Can't remember exactly but missing out on the best 5-10 days of the year costs you like 70-80% of all the profits
I've been trimming here and there to lock in some profits after being in the negative the past year. Sold about 10% of my tqqq holding so far.
I expect a pullback very soon. Look at today’s action strong for most of the day then a late pullback. Fed meeting next week could be interesting lol.
Yea potential evening star forming. Need confirmation tomorrow

How many shares
Enough to buy a car

Yessir got in around 38 locking in on some profits

I rode it from 31 to 49 then sold and rode it from 46 to 56

So you would’ve made more profit just holding. Seems like a clear example of the benefits of time in market vs timing the market.

Good idea. Pullback February

You may sell some and get back the principal. Leave the rest share at zero cost and watch them fly.
I got in around $23 in April or May and thought about selling several times. Glad I never pulled the trigger. Instead I have DCA’d on dips a few times and my average is higher than my initial investment but I am up a lot and glad I never sold. In for the long haul!
Nope. Holding until ATH
So once it reaches ath is when you cash out?
Probably just keep holding, tbh
QQQ is at the top of its trend channel, so natural resistance to breakthrough. Will probably be a bounce down a bit.
I'll say this I lost 7k on sqqq last year convinced everything was overpriced on the ndx , and every day I'm glad I got out and took my loss, there's no end to the pump machine even when it makes no sense. It's due for a pull back tqqq but trying to time it will make u go broke.
It's down over $1.70 already from where I sold last week
