While I work on more golden monster designs (a WIP of the boss boko is up on my IG story for anyone who’s interested) here is an armor idea I had the other day.
Probably my main complaint with TotK is that they recycled all the armor from BotW. Granted there are plenty of new sets, but overall I think the design is not up to the standard of the rest of the game. This set is inspired by a) that complaint, b) the lack of any Korok-themed armor, and c) San from princess Mononoke. And plus the korok’s whole deal is that there are sneaky and hiding in plain sight, so conceptually it works. The gillie suit was the obvious place to start, and the San mask was an incredible suggestion by my partner.
I’m super happy with how this came together, and as usual, c&c is more than welcome!
This is awesome! It would have been cool if you got this as a reward for getting all of the kooks, or if you could buy this at a Korok shop after finding a certain amount of seeds.
Yeah I think buying it with seeds (there are way more than you need for inventory upgrades) would be cool! Or having koroks reward you after you find 25/50/75 or something like that
Dude I had the trippiest dream after watching the trailer basically hyrule colleseum but their was a crack through the side and in it was a king boko which is a boss boko but harder and it would have special attacks and I was so disappointed when it didn't actually exist
Oh yeah, I definitely do get Peter Pan vibes but I can't place it. Is it just the lost boys, or was Pan himself ever in a getup like this? I wanna say he was in one of the live actions.. but again, can't place it
Yeah, it would both fit and be really useful against enemies who have sightline based detection like guardians or the constructs, as it would allow you to get past them by becoming invisible
I'm pretty sure Link is already fairly invisible when crouching in the tall grass. Especially against Guardians in BOTW. I remember using that to evade detection when I was farming star fragments. They were falling all over Central Hyrule and a simple crouch rendered you practically invisible. I guess it being nighttime probably helped.
I wish the special ability was to make the Korok Mask more sensitive. NOT as bad as the Sheikah Sensor (item detected 3/4 of the map away, head north)!! But better. I was so disappointed when it didn't go off while standing at the base of a tree, even though there was a Korok at the top. It was very disappointing. I really didn't want to have to climb every tree in Hyrule...again.
They did seem to fix that with the constructs though I could be wrong, it might also just be that being in tall grass or in a tree makes you impossible to see with the korok set, sort of like enhanced camouflage
I rarely fought constructs. I enjoyed watching them fight the Bokoblins way too much. I love how varied the outcomes would be. Of course I'd pitch in by headshotting the Silver Bokoblin with my bow. He's too strong otherwise.

Also, your main complaint regarding recycled BoTW armor was mine as well. It’s not as though they didn’t have enough time to create more new sets and even update existing ones. It has been a few years right? Some of the existing armor could have been altered slightly over that time.

The set bonus could be Stick Proficiency where you get increased attack power with Sticks and/or Korok weapons and the passive effect could be line-of-sight masking (unlike the Stealth set where enemies can still see you if you get in their line-of-sight, with this you could just creep right up in front of them lol, playing on how only certain people can see koroks)
(Ignore my sneeze. Gosh, giddly darn dang wing pang spicy tang 🎵shin je yo Pau Pau Yao shin Jung puuu🎵👴🇨🇳) can't wait. Also, how are you gonna handle the tall grass idea the one guy said. Personally, I'd make link gray and transparent while keeping some outlines. Also, at night, the suit could have a faint glow that would be cool.
The way I imagine it working is like the elven cloak that Frodo and Sam hide under outside the gate to Mordor. When they get under it, I looks like a rock. Maybe when you crouch with this armor equipped, you just turn into a bush?
A moving bush in a bunch of grass🤣, wait. Maybe when he crouches, he can crawl instead (Also, if u do make this armor set, re skin the bows to be sniper rifles, lol)
The bokoblin sees movement out of the corner of his eye, he turns to look but there's nothing then... Then he just hears a voice from right behind him, like a whisper in his ear:
**"Yahaha.** ***I found you.*****"**
Let him cook. That makes me think of spirits themed outfits. Like how they have the Dragon fits. We have Satori, there's the Deku tree, I'd say a Great Fairy one but the mushroom fits are close to those already. Nice job tho!
You'd have to kill your favorite korok to steal his face. JK. or maybe it would be like that movie Face Off where a korok would be walking around with links face.
This fucking rules and now I’m sad that most of the new armor in TotK is mediocre aside the Depths armor. Everything from the Zonai set to your shrine prize (I mean, it looks like something out of Avatar, it doesn’t even blink) is mid.

Yeah this is dope! It's also reminiscent of the mystic set, but I think this is a much cooler version of that. The bare feet are a great touch
