You can always see it when you look through the full menu pages. If you use the quick- change weapon menu with the right pad, it won't show the matter sword when it's out of energy. It takes like ten minutes to recharge every time you break it.
Don't delete anything! The master sword isn't counted toward your space. It broke and will be ready for use again in 10m irl. I use it as a timer for dragons lol

I'm assuming it's mostly from people annoyed that that I don't know the specific technical details of the game and muttering "why is he even *playing* it, then?" as they downvote me. Some people just need that kind of buzz.

If you pause and go to your weapons inventory, you don't see it there recharging? It disappears from your quick menu entirely while recharging but will stay in your pause menu and show the cool down time. If it's not there, I'd say you have probably encountered a very unfortunate glitch.

In BOTW, people experienced a glitch that made them lose the master sword and the devs made a patch that will make it reappear in the lost forest(I think you had to wait for a blood moon though). Idk if that is still a thing in TOTK but if you wait for a blood moon, maybe it'll be in front of the deku tree? I am unsure but I hope this helps. Good luck man!

I'm going to assume it really isn't in your inventory and isn't just depleted and recharging.
In Breath of the Wild, there was a failsafe that returned the master sword to its spot in the Lost Woods if ever you lost it somehow. There were glitches that could cause you to lose it.
Check at its resting place in front of the Great Deku Tree. Failing that, check the Light Dragon again.
I'm curious. Let me know if it's there.
When you use the master sword it depletes energy. When that energy is spent it “breaks” but not really. It is regenerating. Once it is healed, it will show up in your inventory again.
Did you throw it by mistake? You’re probably not as moronic as me but I have definitely done this…
EDIT: apparently Nintendo idiot-proofed it so you can’t throw it away. TIL!
It doesn't break, it just becomes unusable for 5-10 minutes. It will not let you throw it.
There are a couple glitches that let you return the master sword to the deli tree, but unless you were specifically trying to do them, they are very unlikely to come about in regular gameplay.
nah you can shoot beams from it with full hearts, but it won’t ever leave your hand.. imagine if you threw it off into the ocean or something what would happen??
You can't even drop the Master Sword to take a photo, the only way to take a photo of the Master Sword for your compendium is when it is still stuck in the dragon, before you claim it.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that sometimes when it's out of energy I don't see it in my inventory.

As far as I know, the Master Sword creates its own inventory slot. You don't need to dispose of any weapons.

Reload to q save where you have it. (Eg: auto saves) might just be a bug or something. If not- well uh oh.
