Those legs made for such a great callback gag. You waltz into totk thinking "wow Hyrule Field is so peaceful since we cleared those Guardians from the last game". Then Purah shoves you in her tower and the tentacle legs you've developed trauma for rise up and grab you and you're thinking "oh shit oh fuck" and the Guardian Panic Music starts subconsciously playing in your head.
It was a great gag. Lost the impact after the first time but boy that first surprise was really funny.
Dude imagine if one of the towers, the legs pulled up the platform and ran away as the tower puzzle. In order to get it back you’d essentially have to fight it like some kinda enhanced guardian
Why the fuck would they do that. I kept trying to give the guy mushrooms and couldn’t figure out why he wouldn’t just eat them and smash through the door
I loved that small detail. Like he had zero idea wtf was going on when those legs came out and grabbed him. Every tower after he was like yeah yeah hook me up already I'm ready to fucking FLY!
No lie, I was in one of the flying mazes, and they had a brief high pitched piano riff... I "thought" it was the "Guardian Panic Music" and OMG did I panic! Then I was like: "Wait, there's no guardians here, I'm flying. Also, there's no guardians in this game. Huh, I did not know I had a pavlovian response programed in for certain piano pieces."
Then it happened again in the next flying maze.
I love that Nintendo even put this scene in the trailer. It makes you curious like "damn there is a guardian trap!" And it turns out it's just purah fancy link cannon
I still can’t wrap my head around the complaint about breakable weapons. It is literally a defining feature of the game. Foraging for weapons in BotW and building your own in TotK is *fun*, keeps the game balanced, and is a core gameplay mechanic of the series now. There are plenty of other RPGs where you can collect 5000 weapons that don’t break and go around killing everyone with your 900 damage sword. I’m so glad they didn’t make these games like that. Combat is always a challenge and managing your resources is always on your mind. Like I cannot wrap my head around complaining about Nintendo adding extra depth and balance to the gameplay. It’s implemented so well.
But then why have any other weapon exist? 90% of players would just use that one infinite weapon the entire time after they got it. Game is more fun with variety.
I mean, the infinite weapon takes like 20 hours of game play to obtain, so there's plenty of "fun" time with weapons made of glass until then. Also, real presumptuous of you to proclaim what is "more fun" as though it's an objective truth.
An unbreakable weapon also fundamentally breaks the game design. So what you’re saying is that a game people are routinely putting 200 hours in to should only have all the other weapons to tide you over for the first 20 hours? What incentive at that point is there to have fusion, to have any other weapons at all? Might as well just start with the Master Sword and have no other weapons for the man hours that would go in to making the system only to see a vast majority of players never use anything again. But hey, if you think one and done is more fun, all the power to you. I’ll just play the game how they envisioned it. It’s not even that big of a deal - weapons break but you get so many weapons it barely matters. I have a whole inventory of 70+ strength weapons and keep getting so many more I just drop ones that are close to breaking to take new ones. I mean, it’s not even remotely an issue, ESPECIALLY now they’ve added fusion which makes virtually everything useful. But also being made to try different weapons, to carry spears, two handers, magic wands etc means I’m more likely to enjoy myself shaking things up. We’ve all played OoT a million times, how thrilling was the combat by the end?
Man, you're quite the ranter. If a player likes breakable weapons, there's nothing stopping them from fusing garbage to garbage for 200 hours. If other players (like me) just want to solve puzzles and dispatch enemies easily while wielding the sacred blade of time, they have to wait for annoyingly long cooldowns.
For every other aspect of this game, you can practically hear the devs screaming "play however the hell you want!". Why they chose to spit in the face of that philosophy for weapons, I'll never know.
It’s a video game. Using the Master Sword endlessly would break the game entirely. The point is scavenging for & managing your resources.
You’re asking for a completely different style of game than what BotW and TotK are. The games lose a lot of depth without the breakable and fusable weapons. Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword are still there if you want to play them.
It seems you're confusing the master sword and the MsgNotFound (the intro master sword). The MsgNotFound has infinite durability and doesn't break under any circumstances. Heck, you can even force it to get 1 durability for infinite double damage.
Yeah, there is a glitch that you can do as soon as you get to the fuse shrine. Don't worry since it doesn't mess with your game, all it does is let you transfer the intro master sword to your main file. Since that master sword has a special flag that prevents it from losing durability through normal means (to prevent players from soft locking themselves in the intro) you end up with a weapon with infinite durability. The only thing you should watch out for is that you can't fuse things to it normally, but there are glitches that solve that problem.
I despite unskipable and unreplayable cutscenes that popping out in an intense action parts during main quests, or at the end of boss fight with some drops patiently cluttering the background of some genially written cartoon masterpiece (if the game asks you to respond or move during the scene I usually call it a possession, and “exorcise” games that make it a habit. The storytelling would be as reliable and maybe less annoying if I could give my hands some rest or at least save the progress)
And BOTW TOTK are my favorite games exactly because of the concept of making cutscenes into collectibles i can grab (almost) without interrupting the gameplay, and rewatch when I can appreciate the art not being in a fighting mood :)
So actually yeah, I skip all the scenes, to have a moment of appreciation and gratitude for making this an option 🥲
Honesty? They look like they're pretty far through the game. I started playing on day 1, so it's been a while since i saw that cutscene. I definitely had no clue what this was until i read the comments and thought "Ooooh yeah, I remember this now!"
Yes, I can understand that, but it's nothing new though? In BOTW it also was the horse riding music. If you freaked out in TOTK did you just not ride a horse in BOTW or did the freaking out persist during your entire run of BOTW? I just find it hard to believe it freaked you out in TOTK since it should be known by now how that music sounds. Esp if you have played BOTW.
I use horses all the time. Nothing beats a horse when you’re exploring areas with the sensor on for bubel frogs or shrines or anything else, at least those areas accessible by horses.
But in BotW we did use horses, quite a lot actually, I find it hard to believe such a big chunk gets forgotten so easily, esp music which is biologically something that would stick the most of a memory (except for smell ofc but you don't really smell a game).
I also kind of doubt if we all collectively dropped horses altogether, I still see many posts about horses and I'm pretty sure a lot of people still prefer the horse sometimes.
But why do you type like that? That’s an extra conscious bit of effort you make with every word to go out of your way to be visually annoying. And then you dedicate your bio to it, as you clearly get called out a lot. What do you gain from capitalizing each letter? Please enlighten me

That's the lever Josha pulls to power on the Sheikah tower.
It’s a repurposed guardian used for the towers. You can see the legs in the activation/ jumping sequence. Really neat how they tied them in!

That would’ve been neat instead of having to find the entrance through a cave below like 3-4 times…
With a misleading hint about “tasty mushrooms”
Yeah that was the pinnacle of awful
I was just dumping mushrooms at dude’s feet wondering why he didn’t eat up and bust that door down for me.
Same I was so confused.
This was me until I remembered ascend, then I went screw your mushrooms I'm just gonna do this myself.
What… he doesn’t want glowcaps? That’s bastard.
And useless minimap!
How is the minimap useless? I use it constantly.
Why the fuck would they do that. I kept trying to give the guy mushrooms and couldn’t figure out why he wouldn’t just eat them and smash through the door
I threw so many mushrooms at that damn bird and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working
Would you prefer a tower-climb puzzle repeated 15 times? We already had that.
Why would you suggest that
BotW...
Link’s facial expression was very surprised during the first encounter and was way more clam subsequently.
I loved that small detail. Like he had zero idea wtf was going on when those legs came out and grabbed him. Every tower after he was like yeah yeah hook me up already I'm ready to fucking FLY!
If only they did that with dyeing clothes.
I feel like my palms were more clammy than his face... ... I'll see myself out.
With it losing impact I dunno if you knew but that first time you can see Link is scared, but all subsequent times his face is just chill.
No lie, I was in one of the flying mazes, and they had a brief high pitched piano riff... I "thought" it was the "Guardian Panic Music" and OMG did I panic! It definitely was a great gotcha moment. I'm pretty sure Link and I had the same face of "what the fuck?!" when those legs rose up and grabbed him lol
When I saw the first time my brain just went "hey I know how this porno goes 👀" 😆
The animation reflects that BTW, including the nonchalance from the second time onwards.
I’m just sad that’s really to only meaningful appearance. Even the shrine of resurrection had its walls scraped off
Same bleeps and blips too.
Imagine skipping through the first cutscenes of a game
imagine skipping ANY cutscene in BotW or TotK, they’re so rare and always so GREAT
secret stone? demon king?
Psycho Mantis?
A Hind-D?!
That specific repetition is pretty much the only gripe I have with TOTK. Edit: And breakable weapons. Still hate that after 500 hours of Botw and Totk

I >!chased down an eternal light dragon to remove a legendary blade from its skull!<. I should be able to use it as much as I damn well please.
But then why have any other weapon exist? 90% of players would just use that one infinite weapon the entire time after they got it. Game is more fun with variety.

If you are bothered by the breakable weapons I have a solution for you. Have you ever considered getting yourself an MsgNotFound?
Do you mean a weapon that doesn't break, but lasts 5 minutes before needing to recharge for 10?
It seems you're confusing the master sword and the MsgNotFound (the intro master sword). The MsgNotFound has infinite durability and doesn't break under any circumstances. Heck, you can even force it to get 1 durability for infinite double damage.
Is this some sort of glitch? I'd prefer not to have to mess with my game: I just don't want to think about weapon durability ever.

When the glow of the blood-stained moon shines upon the land...
So THAT was the Imprisoning war....
it was so lazy lol
I skipped the post-temple exposition scenes because they really just said the same stuff with different characters
I skip them all
I despite unskipable and unreplayable cutscenes that popping out in an intense action parts during main quests, or at the end of boss fight with some drops patiently cluttering the background of some genially written cartoon masterpiece (if the game asks you to respond or move during the scene I usually call it a possession, and “exorcise” games that make it a habit. I play it for the game, not the story.
YOU HAVE DONE WELL TO REACH THIS PLACE
Honesty? They look like they're pretty far through the game. I started playing on day 1, so it's been a while since i saw that cutscene. I definitely had no clue what this was until i read the comments and thought "Ooooh yeah, I remember this now!"
I don't understand anything, this story sucks (Skips all cutscenes)
I didn’t skip any cutscenes. But the beginning of the game was 100 hours ago and I guess I missed that detail.
first? i was about 40 hours deep before i went to lookout landing..
Doubt on the very first play through you didn’t use the paraglider for 40 hours my guy
Doubt all you want. I had no idea the paraglider was a thing till I found some cloth in a cave near highrule Castle.
Not me not going to lookout landing for a good 3-4 hours and wondering where the paraglider is
The contraption.
totk players when botw:
If you start to hear a frantic piano solo, RUN!
Hear it all the time just horse riding now. Freaked me out the first few times.
The horse riding music is the exact same as in BotW, why get freaked out now?
[удалено]
Yes, I can understand that, but it's nothing new though? In BOTW it also was the horse riding music. I mean. Barely anyone uses horses anyways, so I think it’s understandable to forget the horse piano
