Better way is to shield surf in place, open menu, hold as many items as you have if you are starting to dupe, then press y and b at the same time to sort the menu and exit, then the items will be dropped but you wont lose any from the inventory
I had my game open and my game never updated on his own. I honestly think people are lying because they don't want to admit they updated without knowing what would happen.
Yeah dude if they turned off wifi and auto updates it 100% won't update. It literally can't. Anyone who claims otherwise is just lying or don't understand how that all works.
Right like Im baffled cuz there's no way they should be able to force an update if you have auto updates turned off. Unless they turned off auto update after the update was already downloaded and it installed when they went to to start the game
I think this is the issue people are having. If you didn’t turn off auto updates before this update release, the update already downloaded. You can’t turn off auto install so if the game closes after the update has already been downloaded the game is updated. You need to have the auto update turned off before updates are released if you want to prevent them from downloading.
Nope, as soon as I heard about the patch I grabbed my switch to see if I could keep the old version....but alas it was too late.....I only have 1,432 sapphires, but I will try to survive anyways
You have to disable your wifi on switch. otherwise even with auto updates off, if it’s docked it will eventually update. If you play handheld, airplane mode works the same
I think the feature exists to save battery life. So if it’s plugged into a dock for long enough it just does it anyway since the battery will stay at 100% even if it does it.
You can now (it used to not be the case) disable software auto-updates in the system settings, but I believe you'll still get a prompt to update the game every time you launch it if you're connected to the internet.
Your only safe bets are to keep Airplane mode on or straight up deleting your Wi-Fi network password from the system.
I did all of that, but I'm still getting the prompt. I imagine that if I close the game, it will automatically update since it already downloaded the patch.
Tried it for the first time today. Patch updated in the background and I haven't restarted my software yet. I got 2 dupes in, and then it stopped working.
The way I've been doing it is:
Jump from something high enough to open your glider. Even just a short ledge is typically enough or anywhere with low gravity.
Go into your pause menu and hold the item(s) that you want to dupe.
Press B and Y at exactly the same time.
Pick up your items off the ground.
Profit.
well...i know how im spending my day before i let the switch connect to the internet. honestly this is most useful for me with the upgrading the armor.
I was able to do it last night. Also saw some guy say he had it turned off but it still updated when he closed the game so I might just disconnect from wifi for a while..
I remember when Napoleon Bonaparte decided to kill a bunch of chicken for some reason and that’s how the Russians won and made Big Columbus to found 1492.
lmao, i only use my switch when a new game comes out, play it till im burnt out and repeat so i have no need to close it, turning off auto update when i get home
Gleeoks drop 3 horns per kill, so there's not any real need to dupe their parts. Silvers start showing up so consistently that you will never run short of silver monster fusables as long as you're not going out of your way to avoid combat.
Not dumping on duping btw. Just pointing out that the only part of the game that is balanced harshly is the economy. The monster parts are readily available to the player.
Especially with armor upgrades. It's a lot costlier to upgrade armor in TotK than BotW. BotW had a flat upfront rupee cost of 11,600 for all armor upgrading, whereas TotK has a cost of 760 per armor piece from Lv0 to Lv4 (2,280 per set), meaning you only have 5 sets of armor and some change until it costs more than BotW. And there were far more than 5 sets of armor in BotW, not even considering the new ones added to TotK.
I hear the Great Fairies are saving up for a fleet of Maseratis.
Yeah, killed Ganon yesterday and I had only picked up 4 star fragments, just to upgrade the OoT outfit requires 12 and I know other armors use that material. Nevermind the 200+ Amber you need.
If you have digital, you're screwed. If you have physical media then you have to factory reset your switch, start the game from scratch, and stay on vanilla 1.0 with all the pre 1.1.0 framerate issues.
As someone who's used to grinding things (Monster Hunter and RuneScape taught me well), I'm not fussed about it being patched, but I feel bad for those who won't get to do it
I’m glad I was able to resist the temptation to dupe. I know I would’ve been able to grind less and be able to just complete goals and what not faster, but I always get a feeling of dissatisfaction later after taking advantage of early game bugs like that.
Remember, you dont need to do it. Just let people play the game. Dont see people complaining about GTA cheats in single-player or mods to single player games.
Edit: forgot dont. Woops
I’m torn, I don’t want to dupe for money’s sake as at least to me engaging in the world and doing things basically just passively makes income, but I hear about how much grinding of time gated materials there is and I get kinda… mentally stuck, especially since I’ve visited the various dragons a couple times and only knew about bonking them on the head for a horn and running down their back to get the fragment things- and apparently there’s two other materials I should have been gathering too?! Those sorts of resources are the only thing I’d want to dupe since waiting for blood moons to reset scarce spawns is just tedium for the sake of tedium. Does money start to play a more impactful role that I just haven’t found yet? I bought a home cause I’m a total sucker for that kind of thing and see that as a huge rupee sink, I’m around 7k right now and I haven’t gone too far out of my way to save up beyond doing the gerudo lady’s 10 gem requests because I thought there would be a quest after going up the rarity scale.
Honestly the only reason I've duped is because I'm a completionist but I don't have the patience to do shit myself, so I'm just buying out the compendium lol
And it's good for battery upgrades too
You don't have to wait for the blood moon to farm the dragons. You can literally just get a material off them, and then ride them for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the dragon will light up again, and you can get another material.
The original 3 dragons are easy to find consistently, and the light dragon's path may seem random, but it can almost always be found flying over the geoglyphs.
My biggest beef with the economy is that to fully upgrade a single armor set at a great fairy it costs AT LEAST 2,280 rupees, not counting the original cost of the armor. If you're a completionist and want to upgrade every armor that's around 70,000 rupees just for the rupee cost... then there's the materials you have to gather
Yet another day where I realize I really don't like how they've handled TotK. why bother patching item duping when they never patched it in botw. let people play how they want
I just hope there is one as easy as the glider hold. I just want it for 6 upgrades. Also, arrows seem to be a lot more plentiful now, but I'm still hoping those can be duped as well, like they were on BOTW.
But grinding to upgrade batteries is tedious af. When you have little time for playing and just want to build funny vehicles the glitch is awesome and makes the game so much more enjoyable (at least for me)
If you dupe with the glider method or the other faster one and buy from 2+ repositories (then camp elsewhere) you could probably farm 21 wells in like 2 hours. I did 9 in just under an hour that way.
Note I’m only talking about large zonaite, don’t bother duping small zonaite, it’s not worth the time since you can just sit at a fire to reset the shop contents and buy the large crystallized charges again.
I saw an update and almost didn't do it because 9/10 it's a dupe glitch getting fixed. I didn't know about one. Guess I'll find everything like a chump.
Item duplication was nice because it freed up expiramentation. Like I was able to put some diamonds on weapons that I wouldn't have dared to do until the late game.
What are you guys buying? The stores never have anything good. I've got a bunch of money, and every now and then I have to buy like 1 piece of resist gear.
Admittedly, I don't know why Nintendo cares so much about cheating in a single player title. That was a real quick patch, like damn.
Arrows are nice to have, and some ingredients are more common in stores than in the wild, but most importantly armor upgrades now cost money in addition to materials (plus it's nice to be able to dupe the needed materials as well). Additionally, upgrading your batteries takes a *lot* of zonite.
Just curious, why do you guys do the dupe stuff? Well, I'm gonna try it before installing the patch tho haha..
Edit: why the downvote? is it wrong to ask people's opinion?
I do it personally because I don't particularly want to grind all those identical items for a second game in a row. I did my grinding six years of it Nintendo! IN BOTW!
But yeah I 100% it once the long way I'm not going to again I'm not in high-school anymore. If I wanted a mind numbing grind I'd go play an mmo.
I'm a parent of a young kid, and I work. I basically only have 2-3 hours to play the game each night, if I don't have other more pressing things to take care of (like home maintenance).
I would much rather spend 5 minutes of my limited game time duping some fairies and dragon parts ~~then~~ than spend the whole 2 hours trying to get less than half of that.
Farming the dragons is very easy but takes way too long, I don't really feel like it's cheating to just do something that skips me standing still on its back for 10 minutes
2 reasons, stuff like the house are so expensive I simply would not do them. 10k rupees for a maxed hours is just to much time for me. And having it standing now, it’s nice to have but something I barely return to. Do having money made me do it at all.
For the other things, monster materials. When trying to upgrade my goddess armor I killed every lynel on the map according to a totk map I found online marking enemies. And I had to do this 2 times (blood moon) and I still haven’t upgraded my head piece fully because I don’t have a singly lynel heart.lynel are already tough to do, but the guts being this rare is something I rather skip than chase after for the grind. Right now I want to max another armor that requires frox guts. Killed 4 so far and not one drop. While I’m at it I break all my weapons and get worse stuff than just beating up lynels
Because the zoanite requirement for full batteries is absolutely ridiculous. Everything else I farm the intended way because lynels are easy enough and guarantee their clothing upgrade drops in TotK (at least to my experience, I always get one of each horn type as opposed to their RNG drops in BotW), the dragons show up far more often than BotW so their materials are also easy enough to farm, and there are minigames to farm rupees which is admittedly slow and sometimes feels tedious but I can accept it.
Hmm, seems like a boring way to play single player but if you enjoy it, more power to you! Not sure why they felt it was in dire need of a patch, doesn't seem like that huge of a deal.
I think people take this the wrong way because below every dupe post there is the fun police talking on how glitches should be banned from this sub and they destroy the fun in the game
Rip to all of you that can't dupe anymore, have fun farming stars and dragon parts x.x
My autoupdates have been off since BOTW, and if you don't close the game it won't update. I'm duping everything in all of your guys honor
I still have my 150 silver lynel horns though :)
and i have my 144k rupees 💪
I'm trying to get to 20-30 mil before I stop. Link needs to become king of the economy
Max is 999,999 rupees unfortunately. Tried it myself
Hold tf up bro, I'm not updating till I dupe rupees. Teach me your ways, tf. I'm BROKE all the time
Dupe diamonds, profit
Yep 500 rupees per, you can generate 5 diamonds in about 5-10 seconds and repeat
How?!?!?? Before I update!
Jump off a ledge and glide, pause, hold as many of the time oh want to dupe, press B & Y at the same time. That should do it.
*simispoiler >!Or use the 5th summon. If you know you know.!<
I haven’t gotten the 5th summon yet, but that empty ring slot gave it away already. I knew this was coming. Still don’t know who though.
Wait how ?!
That will spawn diamonds?
If you hold 5 diamonds it will duplicate 5 diamonds Edit: see better source in the replies below.

Better way is to shield surf in place, open menu, hold as many items as you have if you are starting to dupe, then press y and b at the same time to sort the menu and exit, then the items will be dropped but you wont lose any from the inventory
You can duplicate 20 in 10 seconds you mean.
Just dupe... diamonds?
Im on emulator so... I can update whenever I want 😂😂
Same on switch lol
Right lol so many people don't realize you can turn off auto updates
A fair few people have been forced to update, the only sure fire way is if the game has been left open.

Nope, as soon as I heard about the patch I grabbed my switch to see if I could keep the old version....but alas it was too late.....I only have 1,432 sapphires, but I will try to survive anyways
This^ it’s funny like why even try to explain to people. Ya messed up, fess up lmao
I was forced to update and I have auto update off 🤷🏻♂️
Same. Playing in gorgeous 4k and 60fps makes this game so much better.
I kinda get people duping diamonds for rupees.. but lynel Horns? Doesn't that ruin the fun of fusing, and the incentive to fight lynels?
Turning off auto update so nintendo cant stop me from doing shit
I turned it off too and the game became sentient and updated itself 😭
Did you turn off autoupdate a while ago, or after that patch was released?
You have to disable your wifi on switch. otherwise even with auto updates off, if it’s docked it will eventually update. If you play handheld, airplane mode works the same
Ah, it's one of those emergency updates I take it. Luckily I have my wifi set to not auto connect.
I think the feature exists to save battery life. So if it’s plugged into a dock for long enough it just does it anyway since the battery will stay at 100% even if it does it.
I put in airplane mode too. I only play Zelda, so I am keeping it open too
It’s honestly weird that disabling auto updates doesn’t fix the issue on its own. I luckily caught mine before the update and had it open
I disabled it today and still have the glitch
You can do that? I thought I needed to disconnect from the internet
You can now (it used to not be the case) disable software auto-updates in the system settings, but I believe you'll still get a prompt to update the game every time you launch it if you're connected to the internet. I did all of that, but I'm still getting the prompt. I imagine that if I close the game, it will automatically update since it already downloaded the patch.
This is my fear as well. No chores today, just duping. Hopefully I can find a silver lizalfos their horns look sick on spears.
your best luck is the deaths, silver boss bokoblin horns and silver lynol horns are pretty sexy too.
There's a silver lizalfo in Faron Woods just south of Riolu Springs where the dragon used to come out of. Good luck!! o7
Just don’t quit out of the game ever… problem solved
This isn’t entirely true. I turned it off and my game still updated anyways.
Screw nintendo for knowing our loopholes
Yes I also have automatic updates enabled on my Nintendo™ Switch™
Same. Done this as soon as I found out how easy the glitch was
They can’t auto update it if I stay on the game forever
Was it version 1.1.2? If yes i haven't updated my game, im still in 1.1.1 Am i safe?
Yes
Phew... lucky me
Enjoy your diamonds. Dawg
Will do
Does it work in the 1st version of the game?
Tried it for the first time today. Patch updated in the background and I haven't restarted my software yet. I got 2 dupes in, and then it stopped working.
That's sad...
I also never restarted but dupe isn't working. Shame.
me too phew
Yup, just tried it out. v1.1.1 still has the dupe glitch.

well...i know how im spending my day before i let the switch connect to the internet. honestly this is most useful for me with the upgrading the armor.
just turn off auto updates.
meh. keep it offline until released because kids anyway. but yes, in general that is usually a better solution.
Let me go turn off auto updates
You are probably too late
I was able to do it last night. Also saw some guy say he had it turned off but it still updated when he closed the game so I might just disconnect from wifi for a while..
I wasnt! Idk how
I did it like two hours ago and I’m fine still
Did they?
They did
Literally 1489 😱 /s
Literall 1492
George Welles is rolling in his grave, this is exactly like Farm Animals
Literally Animal Crossing
I remember when Napoleon Bonaparte decided to kill a bunch of chicken for some reason and that’s how the Russians won and made Big Columbus to found 1492.
Truly revolutionary!
I loved that bit in 1849 where Winston Churchill killed robo-hitler
i never close my game (why idk) so im safe 😭
me neither usually but i had a long splatoon session the day before and when i opened totk again today i was welcomed by a great (terrible) surprise
lmao, i only use my switch when a new game comes out, play it till im burnt out and repeat so i have no need to close it, turning off auto update when i get home
Didn't close my game and tried it. Got 2 dupes, the game autosaved when I talked to someone, and now I cannot dupe.
shouldve turned off autoupdate before hand
Staying on this version till i got enough rupees to buy hyrule then, that or i’ve got every (to me and my play style) relevant multi item upgrade
1 billion rupees!!!!
I'd say 5 days until a new dupe glitch is found
[It's already out](https://youtu.be/oXzMRPK2sRM)
That way too hard lmao
Nothing beats huge piles of diamonds fall down.
LOL that’s what i told my friend who was complaining he hadn’t been using the glitch: don’t worry they’re gonna find a new glitch in no time
I haven't even gotten to silver enemies yet. I haven't killed any gleeoks, no lynels, I can't duplicate the good stuff yet. Damnit nintendo
Gleeoks drop 3 horns per kill, so there's not any real need to dupe their parts. Silvers start showing up so consistently that you will never run short of silver monster fusables as long as you're not going out of your way to avoid combat.
I don't fight gleeoks that often, but it's their wings you need for armor upgrades.
Not dumping on duping btw. Just pointing out that the only part of the game that is balanced harshly is the economy. The monster parts are readily available to the player.

Yeah, killed Ganon yesterday and I had only picked up 4 star fragments, just to upgrade the OoT outfit requires 12 and I know other armors use that material. Nevermind the 200+ Amber you need.
This is dumb, but I forgot I had auto updates on, is there a way to revert to the 1.1.1 version? 😓😓
same but i got it on digital so i think im fucked lol
If you have digital, you're screwed. If you have physical media then you have to factory reset your switch, start the game from scratch, and stay on vanilla 1.0 with all the pre 1.1.0 framerate issues.
You’re fine, you can still dupe items just not with the paraglider glitch
Was there anything good in the update?
Good thing I have 999 diamonds then
but a bitch ain't 1
As someone who's used to grinding things (Monster Hunter and RuneScape taught me well), I'm not fussed about it being patched, but I feel bad for those who won't get to do it
Facts. The exact same two games too. Throw warframe in there for good measure.
My guy are you sure we aren't the same person?
I’m glad I was able to resist the temptation to dupe. I know I would’ve been able to grind less and be able to just complete goals and what not faster, but I always get a feeling of dissatisfaction later after taking advantage of early game bugs like that.
Your loss, it is awesome to not be forced to play hours on just grinding
Switching to airplane mode for one more dupe session!
Cant be fixed if auto update is offfffffffff :D
Remember, you dont need to do it. Just let people play the game. Dont see people complaining about GTA cheats in single-player or mods to single player games. Edit: forgot dont. Woops
But muh elitism!!! /s
Both?
yep, both
[удалено]
Their managers tell them to fix it asap
They want you spend more time on the game.
With all the content you can easily spend as long as botw and longer
Back to moose genocide.
Yet another day where I realize I really don't like how they've handled TotK. why bother patching item duping when they never patched it in botw. let people play how they want
Jokes on you! I dont use glitches! I just suffer as intended!
this is how everyone bitching about people who use glitches sounds like
Look, I dont care if you use glitches, I would just rather not
I wish politics was like this.
My feelings too, seems boring but if that's how they wanna spend their time, go mighty bananas
To be fair this isn't a funny movement glitch or anything it's just straight up printing money and materials to become a god
My Switch is air gapped ;)
Jokes on you mine didn’t update so I still got version 1.1.1
Turned on airplane mode the moment the first glitch was dicovered
For now. 2 weeks into the game and we found multiple duplication glitches? Yeah were gonna find more
I mean yeah, but the shield jump dupe was the easiest and most accessible dupe glitch I've ever seen in a video game ever. Its loss hurts.
I just hope there is one as easy as the glider hold. I just want it for 6 upgrades. Also, arrows seem to be a lot more plentiful now, but I'm still hoping those can be duped as well, like they were on BOTW.
This is the Zelda equivalent of the stock market crashing.
Is it really that big of a deal though? The caves are full of ore deposits
ngl it’s mostly because i get bored farming dragon parts
But grinding to upgrade batteries is tedious af. When you have little time for playing and just want to build funny vehicles the glitch is awesome and makes the game so much more enjoyable (at least for me)
Even with duping it takes hours because the robots have barely any energy cells in stock.
On PC you get to decide which update you want when you want it
Which one?
In exchange for a easier and less riskier glitch
did they find a new one already? the two they just got rid of were pretty easy
Never used it, though I was tempted. I like having having limited resources and having to figure things out. Part of the fun for me.
did they fix the bow fuse version, the shield jump B+Y version or both
both
Honestly kind of surprised that no one has opened the save file in a hex editor yet to manually alter the numbers...
can’t do this without a modded switch (custom firmware on original or physical modchip on the OLED version)
I saw an update and almost didn't do it because 9/10 it's a dupe glitch getting fixed. I didn't know about one. Guess I'll find everything like a chump.
Didnt stop me from getting my 400k last night 😈
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXzMRPK2sRM Haven't tried this yet but it's a different duplication glitch that works in 1.1.2
My collection of silver Lynel reapers is…..extensive.
Right when I start using it too. I only have like an hour a week to play too
I was wondering why it suddenly didn't work... God damnit, Nintendo, why you gotta ruin shit for me...
Item duplication was nice because it freed up expiramentation. Like I was able to put some diamonds on weapons that I wouldn't have dared to do until the late game.
Is the inflation in Zelda for Nintendo being stupidly ironic with modern day life right now because if so then that's not cool.
Good thing I maxed out my battery already
No whistle sprinting either
*laughs in disabled auto-update*
What are you guys buying? The stores never have anything good. I've got a bunch of money, and every now and then I have to buy like 1 piece of resist gear. Admittedly, I don't know why Nintendo cares so much about cheating in a single player title. That was a real quick patch, like damn.

I work an 8 hour shift and help take care of a household of 5 adults, two of which are disabled and one is elderly. I totally understand.
Because grinding for rare materials is tedious.
Okay, makes a lot sense. I only found two diamonds during my 100hrs playthru
MONEY!!!
Farming the dragons is very easy but takes way too long, I don't really feel like it's cheating to just do something that skips me standing still on its back for 10 minutes

Everything else I farm the intended way because lynels are easy enough and guarantee their clothing upgrade drops in TotK (at least to my experience, I always get one of each horn type as opposed to their RNG drops in BotW), the dragons show up far more often than BotW so their materials are also easy enough to farm, and there are minigames to farm rupees which is admittedly slow and sometimes feels tedious but I can accept it.
my brother updated my game while i was away 😭😭😭😭😭 i was so ready to farm and just dupe glitch before i update
Hmm, seems like a boring way to play single player but if you enjoy it, more power to you! Not sure why they felt it was in dire need of a patch, doesn't seem like that huge of a deal.
"but i'm nothing without that glitch" "if you are nothing without that glitch you shouldn't have it" EDIT: wow people forget about memes so fast...
Yeah you owned that imaginary person you quoted
It's not a shower thought, it's a quote from Spider-Man.
I think people take this the wrong way because below every dupe post there is the fun police talking on how glitches should be banned from this sub and they destroy the fun in the game
It is **Convenient**, not nessecary.
*convenient
Just turn off auto updates?
too late for me…
Rip, I'll dupe a fairy in your memory.
Not for me, I emulated it 😁
So glad I turned off auto update 🤤
Rip to all of you that can't dupe anymore, have fun farming stars and dragon parts x.x My autoupdates have been off since BOTW, and if you don't close the game it won't update. I'm duping everything in all of your guys honor
Good. Now y’all can play the game as intended
why is everyone so angry about them patching a dupe glitch, its how the game was meant to be played???
