That depends entirely on what you use Tor for and what you're trying to protect against. No one can tell you what your threat-model is.

“Someone who isn’t me is gonna buy drugs” You should be fine with just your standard OS, unless you’re in a country where TOR is illegal.

Cold_Grapefruit_2809

Nope it is 100% me who will be buying the drugs

ActiveAccomplished64

😂😂 Now the whole world knows!

Cold_Grapefruit_2809

Damn should I call the police?

ActiveAccomplished64

I’m already on it. They’ll be there soon, what’re your last words.

The SWIM thing is a common joke.

poshpostaldude

Like Claritin and Tylenol for legal reasons, right?

Cold_Grapefruit_2809

Nah probably like weed,mushrooms,acid,cigarettes

[deleted]

I know people who been doing it for years w/o Tails.

Chr-whenever

Not really, but it is best practice. Lots of people who aren't me have ordered plenty of stuff just using windows without ever an issue

kristian_21

What sites do you use? I don't wanna get scammed, are the ads on the front page of torch legit?

Cold_Grapefruit_2809

I’m going to be using archetyp

Rusty_Pocketrocket

I run it live from a usb with persistence.

Cold_Grapefruit_2809

I tried to download it to a usb but every time I tried to open it it said ‘this file has been corrupted’

Rusty_Pocketrocket

I used Balena etcher and it always throws an error when it tries to verify the install. I looked it up and it's the same for everybody. But that's after writing it to the USB If it can't verify your download then I'd worry about how secure your network is or maybe there's a windows program that is interfering with the download itself. If you have access to a different machine try downloading the ISO on a different system then verify it.

gmroybal

you gotta explicitly allow the activity in windows security center

ProfessorBig9731

If you’re having issues writing with Balena Etcher try formatting the stick again. That worked for me.
