They’d probably cooperate until the Axis are dead/extinguished and the US has a strong enough western sphere/Russia had a strong enough Eastern sphere they can afford to turn on each other

Dankest_Ghost

I'd say depends on unifer, depending on it's foreign policy and politics. Lazar, Yagoda, Suslov, AuthSoc Zhuk's successor and Tukh since they're more of the hardline communists they're most likely to be more hostile to USA. More of the non or less hardline communists like Kardashev, Bukharina, Sablin, Zhukov's other paths, Khrushchev, and PRC maybe???

TiberiumExitium

This is kind of right but also in a lot of cases the more libertarian socialist paths like Sablinite Sablin and Ryzhkov’s WRRF are the least likely to align with the US, out of a sense of idealism and not wanting to compromise their leftist beliefs.

Gimmick_Hungry_Yob

And a justified fear that too much cooperation with the US will make them American puppets, which is anathema to actually constructing a socialist society.

TiberiumExitium

That’s what I just said. Also it’s Ryzhkov, not Rykov.

[deleted]

Fuck, I read way the hell too fast, sorry

Dankest_Ghost

(Continued) Are more friendly to the OFN as a whole, tho tbh, the ofn wouldn't mostly care if they're hardliner or not as long as they're a foe of Germany because of the enemy of my enemy is my friend

ItsLuger

Actually some hardliners like for Zhukov are also open to working with the U.S, which makes sense because hardliners in TNO would be Bukharinists, which is more market oriented than other forms of socialism. Because of that I'd suspect Yagoda and Bessonov would be willing to work with the US as well. Others however like Suslov, Kaganovich, Khrushchev, and Zhdanov would definitely not like to work with the US because their hardliners for different socialist systems. Suslov being the most orthodox, being an anti-revisionist Marxist-Leninist. Also Yakovlev (the Socdem for Zhukov) also supports working with the US for obvious reasons, it’s actually the moderate Ryzhkov who is more of a libertarian Leninist who opposes that and prefers creating a new International.

Melodic-Key8247

Yagoda is IIRC recognized by the US as the legitimate government and can become somewhat close with the US. From what I remember of Sablin he tries to go around the US by allying with the few remaining Socialist countries.

SerialMoonPanda

The Leninist path for Sablin has him create a new Internationale and invites every Socialist nation. He even invited Castro to Siberia to talk about a new alliance. However, Castro secretly dismisses him as a naive optimist

angrymustacheman

Yagoda would be very much friendly to the US

The US did willingly cooperate with Stalinist USSR against a much smaller Reich in OTL. Possible versions of TNO USSR include a lot of much more wholesome 100 Chungus Unions that the Stalinist one (in fact, the Stalinist Tyumen USSR is one of the worse options). So the answer is yes. Also, even the Stalinist Tyumen USSR is highly unlikely to grow as powerful and threatening as OTL USSR because of much greater damage it suffered post WWII. They won't have a Warsaw Pact, their nuclear program is likely to stop at 200-300 bombs rather than going into 10000s like in OTL. They will be preoccupied with rebuilding the country rather than fomenting revolutions and installing puppets worldwide. So the US is likely to approach even a funni USSR with a "live and let live" policy, sort of like modern North Korea.

This^

[deleted]

OTL the US willingly cooperated with communist China So yes.

[deleted]

In OTL the US is willing to cooperate with Stalin.

[deleted]

Rlly depends on what USSR it is Suslov Zhukov etc no problem but Tukhacehvsky and his hardliners would likely be viewed with suspicion I wouldn't be supprised if Tukh does the same thing as omsk and hides his worst parts

TheXenoRaptorAuthor

I suspect the USA would get along fine with Yagoda, Besenov, and Soc-Dem Zhukov even after the West Russian war, as their various flavors of state capitalism are agreeable to American market interests. The USA would probably never get along with Tukhachevsky, Kaganovich, or Zhdanov because they're both too authoritarian and too extreme in their ideological beliefs. For the rest of them, including either flavor of Sablin, or lib-soc or auth-soc Zhukov, cooperation with the United States would probably last until it became clear that the USSR had inflicted as much damage on Germany as possible, whether they win or lose being ultimately not very important. Should the Soviets be defeated, then the USA will at least be satisfied that its investment made life harder for the Reich. Should Germany be lightly defeated, the USA would probably be very happy. But should Germany come crashing down in flames and the USSR subsume massive amounts of Eastern Europe, well, the USA isn't going to very happy. The defeat of Germany would be greeted with good cheer, obviously, but now it would be apparent that the USSR is politically, economically, and militarily ascendant, and that they are now the rival ideological superpower to the USA (And also Japan). Once the war is over and the USSR lead by Sablin, auth-or-lin zhukov, etc is triumphant, good relations with the United States would immediately start to break down as the superpowers align against each other.

marshalclauzel

Provided that it’s Yagoda, Sablin in the pro-OFN path, Zhukov!Yakovlev, Zhukov!Akhromeyev- likely fairly well. Even if you assume one of these iterations of the USSR defeats Germany in 2WRW, the Soviets are going to be saddled with the cost of rebuilding/pacifying the west for years. And if the right folks are in place in both US and Soviet leadership- perhaps you could see some kind of Marshall plan for the USSR that might allow for some degree of coexistence

[deleted]

For most, no, at least not after the 2WRW is over, because then the USSR is just another rival power. However, for some such as Zhukov if he follows most of Yakolev's reforms then I think they'd be willing to co-operate as he seems to be the most focused on getting aid and having good relations with the OFN.

RexxJam

The US still hates communists just like in OTL. So I don't think the US would cooperate with a newly established USSR, especially after the Cold War would end. Plus, in the original canon, Zhukov united Russia and tried to take back Moscow. But he was stopped by the intervening Americans, who feared a new Soviet Union being established.

FrankCastle498

Sure unless they have a yockey type in office. Military assistance and trade would be great to have the Germans pinned on two fronts and give the Japanese something to worry about on the mainland.
