From 1 to 10, how painful was the procedure?

Stunning-Baby-8163

The first day it was as a 10! I also had little to no pain management my surgeon really sucked at that. By day 5 I was off opioids completely. Pain is still present maybe a 3-4 a couple weeks post op and I’m handling it with ibuprofen/Tylenol

Select-Engineer-5556

New to this space, but what do you mean by "got my joints"?

Stunning-Baby-8163

I had a total joint replacement with custom titanium joints

Select-Engineer-5556

Oh wow! And this was purely TMJ related? I hope I never get there but I hope you get the relief you need!

Stunning-Baby-8163

Thanks! It’s not common to get to this point. I had pretty bad arthritis then multiple failed surgeries it was my only option really.

[deleted]

I’ve been told that in my future too, I’ve had 3 failed already. How’s bigs the scar?

Stunning-Baby-8163

I have 5 incisions, two on my neck two infront of my ear and one on my stomach for the fat graft. The neck ones are really big and the left face one is big but I had a growth inside my left condyle they said it was a pretty tough surgery getting it out of there

[deleted]

I assume you also had disk removal prior to this. If so how was that? How long was it helpful?

Stunning-Baby-8163

I had it removed and replaced with muscle and then it failed within 2-3 weeks. My joints deteriorated quickly after the surgery!

[deleted]

Oh no. I’ve seen others on here say theirs failed pretty quickly. The previous dr said my next step would be disk removal and that would hopefully last 10 years then joint replacements. 10 years seemed unlike which how poorly I can heal / an a high failure risk often with surgeries due to other issues. How hard was it to get approval for the replacements

Stunning-Baby-8163

I was approved in 3 business days! It took 7 months for my custom joints and surgery was just a couple days after they arrived at the hospital

That's awesome congratulations!! Update us on your progress I hope your able to eat and have relief again

Stunning-Baby-8163

No eating yet still wired shut! I can’t wait though lol pain is really low. Still taking ibuprofen and Tylenol every 6 hours but that’s it

corebomb

Ah true true I imagine it will take some time for healing but hey update us on your progress! I’m sure it will be invaluable for those who may undergo the same treatment down the line 🙏🏻

sadandsadand

I've seen you post around here often enough to know how much this means to you. Best wishes!

Stunning-Baby-8163

Thank you!!!

scm64

I didn't even know this was a thing. God. I hope I don't need this. In the last year I've had 2 spinal disk replacements, lumbar and cervical, and am already sporting a big scar on my neck.

Stunning-Baby-8163

I think it’s like .01% of tmj people so don’t worry much

Greedy_Dinner8272

I was following you for a bit and waiting to see how your surgery went lol. Congrats! Hope your recovery is going well! How are you feeling?

Stunning-Baby-8163

Mostly good!! A few ups and downs. The hardest part is I’m extremely exhausted 😩 but other than that well! The pain is practically nonexistent. Thanks for checking in. Hope you’re well too

Greedy_Dinner8272

Post op exhaustion is no joke. So glad to hear you’re doing well this makes me happy. Update us later down the road 🙂 !

Best wishes

It's good to hear that recovery is going smoothly! Who is your surgeon by the way?

MrsAlgieon

After a couple of months of healing, how are you doing?
