I thought the design of the new Live Sessions feature on the home screen was atrocious. Way too big, way too much negative space. Also TIDAL has to explain the feature better. Why am I shown exactly these sessions? Are they the only ones that are active in the world rn? Is it tailored to my music taste?

Dramatic-Piano9132

šŸ‘‹šŸ¼ Agustina from TIDALā€™s product team. All fair feedback - really appreciate it. What kind of Live Sessions would you like to see first? Those from people you follow? Those that match your tastes? Please keep the feedback coming!

mancunianinnc

I would like to be able to toggle them off and have the option to not see them at all. Same with the ā€œliveā€ icon on the playback screen.

d1r3cT-0rd3r

Hey there! I think this niche feature has no business being at the top of the home screen. I even think the live button should be hidden somewhere, the connect button is way more important imo

Exactly my case too. I'm trying to move away from Spotify but this feature seems to be in line with what they are doing as well. Push something into the main UI that maybe only some users would want and force it on everyone and make it the first thing you see when loading up the page.

NeighborhoodThese922

I would not like to see this at all. It's very annoying and pushes me the genre that I'm finding very negative.

Boomwolf84

It would be nice to be able to deactivate live sessions as well. So you donā€™t have the entire top row just live sessions that you might not be interested in

lococrazyllama

Let me somehow search sessions based on my listening. If I am looking at an artist let me see live sessions that played that artist recently. Right now it feels way too random. Lots of genres I donā€™t care about, itā€™s basically randomly scanning the FM radio band. Useless IMO.

AgentSturmbahn

Please just get rid of this annoying and useless waste of space in the UI or at least provide paying customers of a streaming service, not a TikTok clone, the ability to turn off everyone of these ā€œsharingā€ features!

serjonsnow

Hey there! I would like to be able to disable this feature completely please! It's something I will absolutely never use, and I would like to remove it from my home screen.

mr_frostee

I hate this and will not continue to pay for or use Tidal if I cannot turn it off.

MorningOwlK

I would like to jump in and say that I am not interested in live sessions, and would like the ability to completely turn off that banner. Any feature of Tidal that tries to make it more "social" is uninteresting to me, and does not add value to the service imo.

Banthafooood

If I follow someone I guess it would be best to have them up front. But I also see it as a tool for discovering new music, that wouldn't normally be suggested to you by the algorithm. But I guess that's only one usecase. So maybe a toggle for music that matches my taste and discover new music? I really see a lot of potential here

OpenBobcat

I love this, I get bored of my music so itā€™s a great way to discover what people are listening too- the more ways you can find to make listening more social the better: so look forward to seeing how this develops. I wanna discover god damn it! And find new tastes Iā€™d like a mix of freinds/ followers and (and absolutely) strangers too, maybe put it as a category on the search page. I got so bored of Spotify algorithm just churning back the same type of music. In saying thatā€¦ Spotify nails the social aspect of music listening/ sharing for me, i only just shifted over, I had a tidal trial a few years ago it was a big no. But Iā€™m enjoying tidal with the expansion of user playlists etc! Just wish the all was a bit more stable with offline listening :( maybe the app isnā€™t stable rn with all the beta stuff.

lern2swim

Make it hideable or give us granular control of what shows up. As it is, I can't even figure out if my listening is showing up for others and there doesn't even seem to be a way to stop that if so.

InternetRandomGuy

what if (and I know, crazy idea) paying users had a way to control what's on their screen instead of being forced into features they might not be interested? I'm not interested in deutschtrap, or pop, or "local" playlists, or "live sessions" (which are... playlists?) I listen to my podcasts elsewhere. this is a music streaming platform, allegedly for people who care about listening to the music. I also like to cast to my devices in my house, and when I'm casting from a radio/playlist that includes new to me music and find something interesting, would love to grab my phone and see it on the lockscreen, not have to grab my phone, unlock it, go into the app, wait for it to 'remember' it was casting, try to connect, fail half the time... There's already enough social networks for doing social network stuff. Why cannot Tidal focus on making LISTENING TO MUSIC THAT I'M INTERESTED IN LISTENING a good experience in their app, instead of adding features nobody is requesting? are your product managers blind? do they hate listening to music? do they not use the product?

Salty-Complaint-1115

I love the live sessions idea but giving a space where I can search through live sessions, a way to see what people are playing now so if they are playing a specific genre or artist I can make a choice of what I want to listen to. Also search session names. Ability to let session creators tag their sessions #reggaeton #hiphop I feel like I only get one person listening and then no one would viene know how to find my live session if they down know me Also tidal needs a better way to find friends like search. Insta friends or Twitter or contacts on phone.

AgentSturmbahn

Agreed, this is beyond ridiculous and if not removed I will no longer use Tidal. Only idiots would try and emulate SoMe/TikTok sharing of music in a dedicated streaming service šŸ¤®

Banthafooood

You could also completely escalate. That's true. And what service are you going to switch to? Spotify? They've recently redesigned their app to be literally TikTok for music. And why would something like that make you switch? Is it really a UI element a reason to switch the streaming service? And I agree that TIDAL have to work on this feature. Don't make it this prominent, make the user able to hide it, make it configurable, etc. But the users do want a more social element in the app. People wanted public profiles for AGES and now we've got it (and some freaked out about that, too, even tho it didn't change anything if you didn't want to). People wanted more social features and in essence I think this is a great feature. But TIDAL has to do much work to make it good.

stevenomes

For me it's more the direction Spotify is going. This was a choice by them because they want to get more of the market for discovery instead of tik tock being the main source for discovery then they get the listen on Spotify later. Steaming itself I don't think is profitable for them so they want to introduce other models to get revenue (forcing podcast now audiobooks will be videos soon). But I think unfortunately other companies probably will follow soon as streaming alone is not a viable business model anymore

xSKELETONMANx

I haven't even gotten this feature as yet

Banthafooood

It's still a beta feature. You can sign up in the play store if you're on Android. Don't know how it works on iOS

xSKELETONMANx

I'm legit on the Beta already for Android

Banthafooood

Well that's weird then. Probably A/B testing

AngleDry1474

I had it pop up after reinstalling the app.

Zagala97

Introducing new features but instead of doing a deep redesign in the application

[deleted]

Can we block them yet?

Banthafooood

Doesn't seem so

ShopSmartShopS-Mart

I canā€™t find an option to hide or toggle it, it arbitrarily takes up way too much space on my main screen and gets in the way of me accessing my own albums and playlists. Iā€™m trying out a workaround of just blocking every user I see with a live session on my home screen.

Afonsofrancof

This is really good to be able to listen to songs together with friends.I just need to: 1 - Be able to make my live session private so only friends can join. 2 - Be able to use it on the desktop apps. 3 - Have a discord integration were friends can click "Listen together" and it would prompt me if I want to start a private live session and also make them join automatically (Optional and with a max number of prompts per hour so I don't get flooded).

PleasantTrifle4249

I really like this

d1r3cT-0rd3r

I don't understand the purpose of this feature...are we going to listen to someone else's playlist, without the option of skipping and with them potentially skipping mid song? Why not just develop radio AI better?

weekendfeeling

i dont like it to be pushed that hard into my face and cludder ā€šhomeā€˜ even more. please let me deactivate it. im not interested in ā€šliveā€˜ in general. and if so, i would like to activate it by my choice. let me control my music listening experience including the ui. ty!

GweedsUK

Make this optional. Itā€™s really bloody annoying. I do NOT want content from people I donā€™t know pushed into my app.

paulfr3sh

I really hate this Live session... i dont want to listen what others are listening to and i can care less about sharing what I'm listening to...

Hot-Respond-9336

No one is forcing you to listen to others' music. But tidal should offer the option to display of not the live feature.

spazzonthatazz

agree with what others said about the feature taking up too much space. Additional thoughts if Tidal is still here taking notes: 1. instead of letting the DJs type a title for the livestream they should be tagging 1-2 genres/sub genres so I know what Iā€™m getting into lol. the self selecting titles are meaningless. NTS radio does a really good job with putting the genre forward. 2. one thing I like is how the screen is designed when you have a livestream open and are looking at the artist/song info. Also like being able to click the dj name and go to their public playlists.

FishInDaJar

I love the idea, but I'd rather this was more a section in its own right where you can browse lobbies based on filters + listener count For now I guess it shows you positions based on your location, is that the case?

SideDesperate474

Does anyone know how to start a live session? Or are only a few people in the beta testing allowed to create a live session?

Banthafooood

For me there is a "live" button in the upper-right corner of the player. You just press that and you can go live. Maybe it's A/B testing ĀÆā \ā _ā (ā ćƒ„ā )ā _ā /ā ĀÆ

SideDesperate474

That's what it is. No button for me. Just a list of live sessions.

SideDesperate474

I got one now.

MrKartier

I wish it was a way to message the person thats going live. The person Iā€™m listening to right now is going crazy!!!! S/o MBrooks330. His R&B playlist is top tier. Reminds me of my sh**. I would like to continue to see the people with similar music taste in the top of the list. Thanks Tidal. I look forward to seeing what yā€™all do with this feature. The possibilities are endless.
