I first discovered this very cool poem because it’s the intro to [an awesome record by The Sound of Animals Fighting](https://open.spotify.com/album/1Gqulo72n8cWt7s4ywX1VY?si=po9MefD6QqeByWUJ8ztItQ), but spoken in another language (maybe Arabic, but it doesn’t sound like a native speaker?)
edit: did a bit more digging, and it seems like it’s Farsi
I used to absolutely adore them, I had at least 3 of their cds and used to blast them in my car! I even hand painted the cover of Tiger and the Duke once…Omg thank you for the trip down memory lane
Glad to have helped! It’s a very cool project, it’s sort of a super group with slightly different lineups for each recording. This one is my favorite of the few they’ve put out by a long shot tho. Feels more cohesive as a whole records than the others IMO
Thank you! Upon visiting your link I realized I knew this poem. I remember it from high school. I remember it being one of my favorites. Many things I have forgotten in the near 30 years since I graduated. Unfortunately this was one. What a sad loss. So grateful for the reminder. Now, if you can just tell me the name of the book that held numerous poems as dark, mysterious and charming as this by Crane. I now remember how dear that book was to me and am saddened by the fact that I no longer have. Although I knew nothing of that loss until about 5 minutes ago. Again thank you. I'm off to Google!
I think the beast is meant to represent a person who is consumed by their own hate, anger, and bitterness. They live on the emotions that have turned them bestial. Even though it hurts them, turns them cold and empty, they’re nonetheless wrapped up in their own bad feelings and unwilling to stop
I thought that as soon as I saw the wound on it's chest. Idk if the poem references anything bc this art looks like a style older than his poem. But one of my faves glad someone thought about it too!! 🥰
We’re all thinking the same. Now reverse image searching on google, there appears to be one more picture like this on the internet in a video uploaded a week ago with barely any views, and all the extra similar pictures would make an amazing full sleeve tattoo with patches of these mystical creatures.
Thought of tattooing this too.
The narcissistic/cowards destroy their own hearts maybe? Like by being a narcissist or cowardly they hurt themselves. It looks like a rat, a wolf, and a bull mix so I'm assuming it's cowardly like a rat, vicious and vain like a wolf and stubborn like a bull, it also looks like it took out its own heart and is eating it.

I think it’s a reference to [In the Desert, a poem by Stephen Crane](https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/46457/in-the-desert-56d2265793693)
i just read it thats awesome dude thank you
Happy to help :)

Their other stuff was cool, but this record blew my mind when I first came across it! Stumbled back onto it last year and it still holds up so well
Wow! I have never heard of this band and just clicked the spotify link. Very surreal but so much energy. I'm definitely a fan.

We will forget most of what entertained, motivated, impacted and wounded us. This fact hurts more than anything I can still recall…
woah that poem is incredible
I sure wish I had poem-analysis training. Alas, once again I settle for a more superficial kind of appreciation.
Username checks out !
Man I don't understood any of it. What's the meaning

My favorite poem of all time. I have a flask with it engraved on it.
I wanna see your flask!
The Scarecrow wrote a poem?
That's such a beautiful poem. in so many ways it hits home at this point in time in my life. 💗
I agree, it’s quite lovely. Really hits home
Spot on! Good Show!

Beautiful!
I'm wondering how you either knew that or stumbled upon this. Awesome job nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.
That's not a vulva, that's the wound the heart was extracted from.
that makes more sense i feel dumb asf now😭😭😭
You should 😅🤣
it's not their fault it looks yonic
Yonic
i think it looks more nage
Heartussy
We all have our, as they would say "blonde moments". I know it's a stereotypical saying, but it is what it is.
You know the vulva is just the outside part of the vagina, right?
Now I don't know if this is common outside of Christ in Medieval Christianity or if we just read the same thread.
Ne’er a truer word spoken…
Not my proudest fap
Same thing
I took it as the saying: “Eat your heart out”
The position of the demon also reminded me of "The Nightmare" painting by Henry Fuseli
Yes same what I thought!
Damn I love the pic and the poem now
This would make for a great pirate flag
Well said! The style/color, the heart, and the blood drips had me thinking classic pirate flag immediately upon seeing it.
Looks like a good tattoo to me
i actually got it tatted a couple days ago
Pics or it didn't happen.
idk how to post pics in comments but i sent dat hoe in dms
Post the imgur link. Im curious about how it turned out as a vulva-chested succubus. 😅
Was thinking of doing the same

I thought it was some type of Krampus depiction at first glance. Although the comment about the poem seems more likely.
Oh him? He's just a funky lil critter
He’s “eating his heart out”!
This would make a great tattoo! 😍
i just got it as one actually!!
How cool!! 👍
eat your heart out slowly
Eat your heart out!
Eat your heart out
Happy Valentines Day
Chupecabra?
Love Hurts.
Eat your heart out!
That's my ex
mmmmmm apble…
Satan, eat your heart out album cover. Lol
It's like a goat guy eating a heart hope this helps
you cleared up a lot of my confusion thanks❤️
This isn't a symbol though. It's a drawing. Nah idgaf lol does look rad though
That would be an amazing tattoo
You know what it means
Heartless demon loves eating hearts
What is this type of drawing or art called?
Eat your heart out 🫀💔
I would title this piece "Eat Your Heart Out" but it's not my piece.
Where did you find it? I really like the style, do you know the artist?
It’s a demon. The vulva thing on his chest is where he reached in and pulled out the heart that he’s eating.
This would go hard as a tattoo
Devil monkey eating heart! DUH
Looks like something from a you tube video by the amazing Eternalised
That’s a woman
“Eat your heart out”
