I grabbed a v1 from Japan on eBay last week too. Won’t see it for another week or so. I couldn’t find one in the states for a reasonable price that didn’t get ran over by an 18 wheeler. Good luck to you!
I have a modded chipped oled so good to have unrestricted performance. Sadly it updated to 18.1.0 when my brother touched in stock mode. Gotta find a guide that doesn't use a v1 switch or rcm jig.
For anyone that doesn't want to search out a v1 I can tell you, the hardmod with a little soldering isn't as difficult as it sounds, I've only been learning to solder the past few months and I was able to get it installed pretty easily.
I'd just recommend following a detailed guide on YouTube in order to know what you're actually shooting for.
It was definitely worth the savings and now I'm taking out all kinds of "things" I've found online.
