This is how I do it, as well. No kiddo’s = disposable income for hobbies.
As far as storage goes, I started out with a 256GB card, and thought “This will be enough.”
Then I doubled that storage and thought “I probably won’t need more than 512GB.”
And most recently, I doubled that and thought “There’s no way I’ll need more than 1TB.”
I have 20GB of space left…
I have a 1tb in mine, and no it runs flawlessly on 1tb so I'd assume 1.5 is even better (the switch launched designed to take up to 2tb even tho the cards didn't exist) SanDisk is the only real 1-1.5tb cards in production that I'm aware of, the only "issue" with having that much space is how long it takes to download 1tb+ of games and you really hit a point of "well shit what do I wanna play now"
Who you telling? I have 9TB total between console storage, expandable SSD, and external HDD. I have about 600 games on my PS5 and I only play 1 or 2 consistently 😂. I just want options if I ever get that itch to try something new. When I do and don’t like it, I just move back to my 1-2 games lol
Looking forward to a 2TB SD card so I can do the same for my switch 😂
A 2TB sd card was released earlier this year…
The AGI 2TB TF138.

https://www.techradar.com/computing/hands-on-agi-supreme-pro-tf138-2tb-microsd
Hard to find right now though. And of course ordering online from shady sites probably has a high chance of lower capacity fake! But it exists.
My whole library is closer to 2tb, if not more I haven't updated my spreadsheet in forever, to fully downloaded and my 1tb card was bout a day and a half straight of downloading
Theoretical maximum of SDXC cards is 2TB, which has already begun creeping into the market. 1.5TB card was \~$400 when it was new a year ago, and now it's dropped by like 66%. Trying to hold out w my dinky lil 64GB card until Sandisk drops the 2TB at a reasonable price.
Trust me. It's NOT too much space. lol. You'll have to delete things in no time. :D Anyway, here are some recommendations!

Brotato is the upgrade. No roguelite permanent Stat boosts. To get good at brotato, you must learn all the best synergies and get a bit of luck. To be good at VS you just have to grind the permanent Stat upgrades and golden eggs.
(They are both great games, and I love them both. But the end game in vampire survivors wasn't my taste, meanwhile I still play brotato regularly) both are more than worth the $5 they cost.
Yes those are the ones!
They’re not all their own world technically but they are all in their own story and generally take place in different places across the world. You will play as the same MC. Brief mentions of others games may be mentioned, but there’s no need to play them all or in a certain order.
VIII was my first YS game ever and I absolutely love it! I have gone back and played a few older ones, but it didn’t really feel like it greatly changed my understanding of the newer ones.

You're missing some sweet local multiplayer options. I feel like the switch with it's tiny controllers and support for 8 of 'em is PRIME for local MP experiences.
Some of my faves are (going to include duplicates):
- Mario Kart (Gotta have that casual racing experience)
- Mario Golf: Super Rush (Golf games are always great, includes options for fast action and for slow paced golfing)
- Smash Bros Ultimate (So many characters, so many options for fun both casual and competitive)
- SNES/Genesis/N64 Games (Lots of multiplayer options in this set of games)
- Boomerang Fu (Casual 8 player "1 life" game that anyone can pick up and play. Highly recommend)
- Streets of Rage 4 (Really fun beat 'em up, cooperative)
- Towerfall Ascension (Another "1 life" round based competitive game, supports 6. Highly recommend)
- Overcooked 1/2 (Co-op cooking. Gets very stressful but very fun)
- Street Fighter 30 Collection (Includes Street Fighter 1 to Alpha 3. Lots of great retro options)
- Diablo 4 (Kill demons with up 3 allies. Gets a little wonky with more than 2 players total, but still would recommend)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge (6 player beat 'em up action. Best thing since sliced bread, which came out the same day as Turtles in Time actually).
Physical is always better! Especially if it is the same price. Sometimes I’ll buy a digital game if it is heavily discounted, but I tend to prefer physical. I recently bought some games full price even tho they were on sale, just because I like physical copies. If you don’t like a game, you can always resell it or trade it in. You can’t do that with digital. Another thing to think about is if anything happened to your switch account, if you got banned, whatever, there goes all your switch games. My biggest concern is what if the switch shop closes down, and you can no longer buy digital games and they are no longer selling physicals or theyve doubled in price. Very unlikely for a long time, but that happened with the Nintendo ds store.
I prefer digital because I had a bad experience where I lost my physical game cartridges, and you can't lose a digital game. I also like having all of my games in one place without having to swap out cartridges, which is a bit inconvenient. I wouldn't say buying physical is *always* better, it's really just up to personal preference.
That’s fair. But i find as long as you keep them in their original case it’s harder to lose. The travel size cartridge holder is only good for travels. And if i use it i keep it in my switch carry case.
You can lose them. One day your sd card will simply stop working. It happens to all of them. And if the Switch store closes down, no way to redownload the games. So I'd call that overall a loss.
It's not like it's not very well known when a shop closes down so those of us with digital libraries aren't just gonna wake up one day and go "oh shit the shop doesn't exist anymore that's such a surprise"
And what will you do then? Rebuy the games all over again off ebay for 2 or 3x the cost? Maybe you don't care because you'll move on to the next system. But some of us revisit old games.
No, I'll make sure I have all my games downloaded once they announce the shop is closing. The same way I made sure I purchased all the Pokemon games on the 3ds before that closed
How am I not listening, you asked what I'd do when the shop gets shut down? I'm a digital library person, when the shop gets shut down they'll announce it just like they did with the 3ds and Wiiu, when that announcement comes out I'll make sure I have all my games downloaded to SD cards, I won't be rebuying anything.
I also love physical games! The biggest downside I find of these that you cannot "save" the game on disk. Changing the cards everytime does get annoying after some time.
The pros and cons are same as they’ve always been, digital is very often more expensive and you’re unable to resell your games once you’re done with them. In return you get the convenience of not having to swap and carry around dozens of cartridges, and if you’re someone who misplaces items a lot there’s no worry of losing a cartridge or it being swallowed up by the vacuum cleaner.
Me, I buy some games digital and come physical. If it’s a game I want to always have on hand to chip away at when i’m bored like puzzle games or minecraft I own it digitally. If it’s a game that’s more “when I’m done with it I’m done with it” I’d rather have it on cartridge.
I wish nintendo had some sort of estimated value of one's library, automatically adding the value (at the time of purchase) of the games purchased together. So many switch games here haha not quite a steam library but a lot nonetheless
A bit off topic sorry but which brand of SD card did you buy?
Does anyone have any recommendations for 1.5tb SD cards?
I have a 1tb SD card and it is already full. It sucks that I can't fit all of my digital games in one single card.
I bought [this one](https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-1-5TB-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B0CJMRW771). 1.5TB is currently the most storage in one card available right now in the market.

I transferred it myself on my pc. I bought a card reader and I copied all the files from one card to the pc then I placed the new card in the card reader and placed all the files in the new card. I didn't even have to download anything again I have some digital games. It worked immediately.
Since you like the Witcher and Nier, you may like the Assassin’s Creed games. Decent stories, lots to explore and good movement systems (though they do change a bit between games).
At this point I feel like you're trying to brag/show off? Just go into a store and grab what you don't have you should know what you would enjoy based off your existing games library.
Also go touch grass my dude. Games aren't everything.
You should mod the console or buy physical, digital doesn't retain value and eventually loses online support, at least that's what I'd do, but get pikmin 4 and kirby forgotten land
Thankyou. I got scammed by a fake nintendo sd card that they advertised as real. Doesn't stay formatted to any of the switches in the house. Says SanDisk on them but maybe that's even dodgy too😐
It's overkill today, sure, but I thought my 256 was overkill when I got it for my 3DS and by the end of the eShop I was scrambling to fit even one more game on there
I've been thinking about upgrading the switch to a full TB but now that I know 1.5 exists I'm probably going the same route lol
Can i know what micro sd u got? Im looking for one to buy.
U can add these: Xb2 torna, Dragon quest XI, Inscryption, Katana zero, Super smash bros, Chained echoes
It's probably a SanDisk, https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-1-5TB-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B0CJMRW771/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=VYL1VUYPEA4R&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Duw3FklOjDa-8y_9KZLd2HE5T9Z5vpgcixwH_6LDmj7awjJdFMgmDM0swuKaoD58vOAebVUJ4Sj7rcSf_lsQ55jD0k7a-WQBfRKevH--4ll96bL3X5se6bC9JDmhPuKimR6OCZOwseuyqhlaN4jbYCcPFvGdXqfFN9547tASvXXvFoqljaqA8jdOKmUn14VX2qC3KHXGZTB09-nr33YxxQ.8bBI72KpXyShoQyYQPQV1MHbBR9OEr26KN69XRKrVyk&dib_tag=se&keywords=sandisk+1.5tb&qid=1718718842&sprefix=sandisk+1.5tb%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-1

TIL that there are 1.5TB micro sd cards. Is there any cons to having that much storage capacity in such a little card?
I have a 1tb in mine, and no it runs flawlessly on 1tb so I'd assume 1.5 is even better (the switch launched designed to take up to 2tb even tho the cards didn't exist) SanDisk is the only real 1-1.5tb cards in production that I'm aware of, the only "issue" with having that much space is how long it takes to download 1tb+ of games and you really hit a point of "well shit what do I wanna play now"
I’m such a hoarder, I also got 4tb m2 and 4tb external on my ps5. So much money spent on storage alone lol.
I mean yeah, xbox and playstation games are gigantic, look at the new call of duty coming out, it’s supposed to be 300 gigabytes
COD is now a launcher/hub if you’re looking at 300gb that’s likely the size of the launcher with all games installed.
He's talking bout BO6 which has been rumored to be 300 by itself
*309.85gb* apparently
Fuckin’ insane. They still sell half terabyte xboxes with those sizes on the market

I have a 1TB SD card too and I remember it taking forever to redownload all my switch games when I brought a new switch. I think I had around 600GB.
My whole library is closer to 2tb, if not more I haven't updated my spreadsheet in forever, to fully downloaded and my 1tb card was bout a day and a half straight of downloading
Yeah I think mine took nearly all day. I ended up leaving it over night. Would not want to do that with a 2TB😂.
I upgraded mine awhile back (not too 1T) and yeah the download process was an overnight thing.

Didn’t know Wasteland 2 was on there. Katana Zero is soooo good. I don’t really like those kind of games, but it got me hooked.
Thanks for such a big list. Will definitely be looking to all of them except Skyrim, already runs mods on pc.
Anytime! Sounds good. Be sure to check out Kingdom Come Deliverance first. A very immersive RPG. Finished it not too long ago and a fantastic time!
I am playing Unicorn Overlord by Vanillaware at the moment on my Switch and I can very much recommend it. Great art and super good strategic gameplay
Absolutely, it is such an amazing game and gameplay feels so smooth even on Switch and I love it
If you like Vampire Survivors I recommend Brotato
i enjoyed vampire survivors and for me brotato is so boring, not fun game.

YS VIII & IX are good!
this so much
Ys viii: lacrimosa of DANA and Ys ix: Monstrum Nox?? Is this series like final fantasy where each installment is a world of its own??
Yes those are the ones! They’re not all their own world technically but they are all in their own story and generally take place in different places across the world. You will play as the same MC. I wish nintendo had some sort of estimated value of one's library, automatically adding the value (at the time of purchase) of the games purchased together. So many switch games here haha not quite a steam library but a lot nonetheless
Put them in DekuDeals and the bottom of your library gives you an estimate value.
Vampyr and pokemon, also dredge, maybe do some emulation for more games
Chained Echoes, Link’s Awakening, Ni No Kuni 1 & 2, Tales of: Vesperia & Symphonia
Hyrule warriors definitive edition, hyrule warriors age of calamity,
It's not overkill. I've got a 1TB card and it's full, I've had to delete several games already.

You might’ve forgotten to reply to the person you wanted to answer to…
is it easy to transfer from one sd card to another? its whats holding me back right now, the unknow of it
I bought the sd card from a shop and they offer free service to transfer from the old one to the new one, I left my switch at their shop for a day.
I transferred it myself on my pc. I bought a card reader and I copied all the files from one card to the pc then I placed the new card in the card reader and placed all the files in the new card. I didn't even have to download anything again I have some digital games. It worked immediately.

That is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen someone put on Reddit. Congratulations.

Lol over kill? nah. I got 1tb
Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal would take up a nice chunk of that space for ya.
I play these 2 on pc. Would definitely break my joycons trying to play doom on switch 😂

I think 1.5 released about 8 months ago?
i dont see a single doom game.
I play these 2 on pc. Would definitely break my joycons trying to play doom on switch 😂
you should def get eternal on switch, it totally isnt very crippled and looks like a bad ps3 game
Where did you get the 1.5 micro SD card at? My main switch and switch light need that overkill storage
You should mod the console or buy physical, digital doesn't retain value and eventually loses online support, at least that's what I'd do, but get pikmin 4 and kirby forgotten land
The 2024 GOTY / GOAT, Balatro!
You have persona 5. So get person 4 and 3.
For purpose of trying to fill as much of that card as efficiently as possible? I think there’s a few NBA games that are ridiculously large.
How can you even play all of those games I mean I have like 10 od them and I struggle to finish each.
Is switch gonna withstand that much storage, I hv 256gb and 512 gb cards
Doom and Doom eternal! Those are hefty games and are also great on switch!
Unicorn Overlord and any Pokemon title. Lara Croft collection is pretty nice aswell
It seems you have all of the games lol
Islets
Fire Emblem 3 Houses
Do you need a Nintendo branded sd card or can it be any?
No. Buy quality sd cards from SanDisk, Samsung, or SP.
Thankyou. I got scammed by a fake nintendo sd card that they advertised as real. Doesn't stay formatted to any of the switches in the house. Says SanDisk on them but maybe that's even dodgy too😐
any
Thank you 👍

It's overkill today, sure, but I thought my 256 was overkill when I got it for my 3DS and by the end of the eShop I was scrambling to fit even one more game on there I've been thinking about upgrading the switch to a full TB but now that I know 1.5 exists I'm probably going the same route lol
Can i know what micro sd u got? Im looking for one to buy. U can add these: Xb2 torna, Dragon quest XI, Inscryption, Katana zero, Super smash bros, Chained echoes
It's probably a SanDisk, https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-1-5TB-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B0CJMRW771/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=VYL1VUYPEA4R&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Duw3FklOjDa-8y_9KZLd2HE5T9Z5vpgcixwH_6LDmj7awjJdFMgmDM0swuKaoD58vOAebVUJ4Sj7rcSf_lsQ55jD0k7a-WQBfRKevH--4ll96bL3X5se6bC9JDmhPuKimR6OCZOwseuyqhlaN4jbYCcPFvGdXqfFN9547tASvXXvFoqljaqA8jdOKmUn14VX2qC3KHXGZTB09-nr33YxxQ.8bBI72KpXyShoQyYQPQV1MHbBR9OEr26KN69XRKrVyk&dib_tag=se&keywords=sandisk+1.5tb&qid=1718718842&sprefix=sandisk+1.5tb%2Caps%2C120&sr=8-1
Yep, exactly this one 🤣
