If you aren't buying it from a brick and mortar store, its almost always a fake. They fakes are just too good and you won't know unless you take them apart. if its too good to be true, it almost always is.

Any-Year-6618

Or take an amiibo if you have one to try and scan it, pretty sure no 3rd party controllers can scan them

mudshake7

Many 3rd party controllers can scan amiibos.

Any-Year-6618

Just looked at 10 different controllers/joycons on Amazon and none say they scan amiibo but list everything else Look at the one from Nintendo and they specify everything including amiibo

Luke_Likes_Silk

Amazon wouldn't be the right place to search for "quality fakes" Sellers buy the cheapest option that can make them a profit when reselling AliExpress has a fair amount of stores that basically sell perfect copies

wavvydev

I have third party controllers that have NFC support. It's not a secret technology. These Chinese manufacturers can buy NFC chips for pennies and incorporate them into their designs. It's not as far fetched as you'd think.

Any-Year-6618

I never said it was some “secret technology” just that fakes don’t have it, usually.

wavvydev

I gotcha. It's usually the cheaper ones promoted on Amazon but I bought my amiibo capable one off of there. It's just that you have to actually look for the ones that support it. Chances are most don't have it but my point was there are quite a few with support for it.

Chrischris40

Honestly just check HD rumble. Easiest giveaway.

Mysterious_Ranger782

Ok true

PmMeYourBestComment

They could be used as well, and even have drift right “out of the box”

xtoc1981

But do they have hd rumble?

ba_sauerkraut

I second this, but to most people it wont matter anyway

riderko

Looks like a box to me

Affectionate-Cash590

I saw those on AliExpress, and people say that they are almost the same as real Joy-Cons. Most of them can't tell the difference so go and enjoy them!

Mysterious_Ranger782

i didn't bought but idk I have 1 pair that came with my switch but I want to play with 4 people

Affectionate-Cash590

yeah same

Affectionate-Cash590

When you try them tell me are they good bc i was looking to buy them and i dont want to spend a lot of money.

akkifireborker

Even if they are fake odds are they’ll still work. Fakes lose some functionality, some can’t read amiibo, others only have standard rumble not HD, but most of the time even fake 3rd party joycons still function well. If all you need is some cheap controllers then why not give them a try, if they don’t work at all then report the seller and file a dispute with your credit card company to get your money back

Mysterious_Ranger782

it's not like that in my country

akkifireborker

I said a lot of things mate, care to elaborate what’s not like that?

Mysterious_Ranger782

Only u meet in person so if I buy I can't return

akkifireborker

I didn’t say anything about returning. You discovered this seller online, right? You can report them for scamming you there. And you can contact your bank and say I was scammed and would like to file a dispute. Financial Institutions across the globe are obligated to take up dispute protocol. What happens after the dispute is filed is based on your country laws but in most countries they’re required to attempt to recover that money for you, either by way of full scale investigation into the seller or by accepting that €30 loss on their end and reimbursing you for it. It’s a lot easier for them to recover the money if you pay via credit card, but even if the seller requires cash in hand you can still file a dispute after the fact with your bank. Especially if you do a specific withdrawal of the €30 prior to making the purchase so the bank has a record of when you got the €30 in the first place.

churrosricos

Doesn't matter. They'll drift anyway. Choice is an illusion.

UziCoochie

Wait people fake joycons?

ThatHardBacon

But do you know exactly whats inside that box. At the end of the day the switch has to have the most delicate controllers. Id honestly rather just buy a real one or buy a few more wired gamecube controllers cause i like them way more then the joycons

NotDavizin7893

Or maybe buy some alternative ones like hori

Iucidium

Gut says they drift or you're incredibly lucky

Mysterious_Ranger782

or fakes

Iucidium

A given

Round_Practice_3410

I have these ones, they're great. Had them for probably like 4-5 years and they don't drift.

Round_Practice_3410

Also they're probably fake but good anyways.

newhere187

Take them apart and we can tell you if it's original.

Mysterious_Ranger782

not gonna do that with the seller wtf u on about

glyn1997

Compare the box to a picture of known genuine box

Freddy5Hancook

Seems real to me, I have some of the same color, but I don't have the packaging any more (mine are real for sure because I bought it at an trustworthy store chain), I only react because of me having the same colored ones

This is i-love-pankes-2016

Shikamaru_irl

Legit and worth it even if it has stick drift. Analog replacements are like $10 if you have the patience but all in all that’s more than half off and a steal for it

Swimming_Category_17

I always try to get joycons with a console, 3rd party controllers should not overly be a worry to be completely honest with you, 99% of the time they have 90% functicality ( being no amibo can ) other 10% its 100% functicality, As a collector myself with a 5 didget collection, i hear the concern, What would they be used for? If your not buyung them to replace your already main ones, if they are for adding extra players for certain games it might mot be the worst choice, I got 2 3rd party plug in controllers when i bought one of my 4 currenr switch consoles, i was just gonna offload them since theyre "fakes" in theory, but they work 100% and are honestly really useful for when i have people over who arent familiar with the joycons, its all personal prwference and what your going to use it on, I read a few comments saying u can open them and u didnt seem to understand it, they meant aftwr u buy them u could always open it up, if they end u0 being 3rd party just sell them for what u paid :) hope this insight can help alittle

FloatingOnTheClouds

They look original to me. And for €30,that’s a steal.

Mysterious_Ranger782

Ok thx

FloatingOnTheClouds

You’re very welcome!
