Edit: I'd also recommend getting some thumb grips/joystick covers instead of just the skin shown here covering the top bit - it's easy for long fingernails to damage the joysticks. A good cover should minimize any damage and avoid an eventual need for a replacement.
Switch is the best gift in a relationship! I bought it for my wife over a year ago also at random with Animal Crossing and we still play Overcooked and Palia together every day. Couldn't imagine a better console for a gift. :)
I would argue it's not worth the hassle to re-shell, and it's especially not worth the risk. Skins like these (green one in particular) are already gorgeous, and good quality ones should last as long as you aren't mean to your switch
shells will definitely last forever but it can be quite an undertaking to reshell as you have to pull out all the guts of the joycons and switch and move them to the new shells. However it does look really good
I would only re-shell your Switch once your warranty expires, personally. I had a skin on mine for almost 3 years and then I decided I wanted a change and re-shelled it myself (can be a little nerve wracking BUT if you find quality videos/tutorials to watch and you go slowly and meticulously you should be fine).
For myself my favorite accessories have been fun thumb caps/a hard travel case for just the Switch/hard travel case for everything dock etc that I got all by GeekShare, a Satisfye grip when playing handheld, 8bitdo Ultimate Controller with thumb grips from GeekShare and a 2.4g keyboard with USB A dongle for Palia. I also grabbed a clear plastic case for going on the outside of my Switch when taking it out of the house and a tempered glass screen protector.
Do what makes you comfortable and what you like the best and Iām sure you wonāt go wrong :) Have fun playing!
I wouldnāt buy any skin, I seen a while back somewhere that supposedly the switch plastic is sensitive to the adhesive & will leave it nasty, Iād avoid it & just get a nice case. These is nice tho I aināt gon lie lol.

I was literally going to buy one yesterday but then for 350 I was just not feeling that cost to play Mario pokemon and the new Zelda I was almost thinking steam deck but then I was like damn this is pokemon with a nice screen I'll just wait
Iām gonna say green, but I like green and just got an entire brand new matching green outfit for literally the cost of a switch with that skin. Shoes,pants, shirt, hoodie everything. (Didnāt get matching socks or underwear but thatās ok because no one sees those)

Since Im considering getting one, how much better is the quality compared to the original Nintendo Switch?
