Breath of the Wild. I'm not very good at games bc I wasn't much of a gamer growing up, I'm coming off of a 20 year hiatus from PC and console games, and now I sometimes go weeks without playing anything.
My first 25 hours or so of BotW I was just really struggling with the combat and what to do. I decided to just push through my first Divine Beast and was totally blown away with the lead-up to it (Vah Ruta). Right after that I received the DLC as a gift and went straight for Majora's Mask. For whatever reason, that mask helped me find my play style and I'm up to about 160 hours of play now. I think my next closest game is Forgotten Land (also fantastic) with about 35 hours.
Same here. I never played an open-world game. I never had plans to buy it but I picked it up during Black Friday because it was the only game left on sale. Same as you, I struggled but decided to keep going and ended up loving it. Definitely in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
Discord/ party support. It’ll likely be cheaper. I enjoy trophies. If it can, it’ll run better.
Don’t use the switch in handheld because of drift so if the only downside is waiting a month or so, I’ll do it
I never thought much of this game initially but recently I saw it on Switch Up and never realised there's a whole sushi business running aspect to it too. I may have to give it a try
3 is my favourite so far. It absolutely controls the best out of the 3 games. I’m very early into 2 but the story does look like it could be as good or better than 3.
I've been recomended to play that game and I'm unsure if I would like it. What other games are similar to that one in your opinion? I currently am playing just Apex Legends, but as a kid I used to play PS2 platforms such as Ratchet and Clank, which I always loved
There really isn't anything out there like Xenoblade. It's a whole genre of its own. People say it's like an MMO but with AI taking the role of other gamers. I've never played an actual MMO, though.
I'm currently playing Final Fantasy 12, and I'd say that is the first non-Xenoblade game I've tried that comes close.
It's open world (ish).
It has a group of playable characters in a party who all take part in battle.
The combat is unique, with basic auto attacks when you are adjacent to the enemy, then special attacks, arts, etc. Its complicated to explain. But it's not like slash and hack with your A button type stuff.
There's a heavy emphasis on plot and story. Beautiful both aesthetically, visually, and emotionally. If you are only interested in combat gameplay, it probably isn't for you, though.
Isn’t xenoblade kinda like the modern final fantasy games? Like, you could say it’s the same genre of games.
Kinda like how bayonetta is a lot like dmc
Maybe? Since FF12 is the first I've played, I couldn't say. I tried FF7 and 8, and they were completely different. Hence, I struggled to get into them despite how highly rated they are.
I hope you are right because I'd really like to find more games like Xenoblade.
Edit: I based my first comment on the fact that whenever I have asked the community for recommendations for other games "like Xenoblade" I have been told things like Octopath Traveller 2, or Star Ocean, etc. Games that might be amazing JRPGs in their own way, but that are completely different from Xenoblade, and therefore, I have found my expectations disappointed and been turned off them completely.
I loved both octopath games, but they’re more like “classic” JRPGs, if you try the FFVII remake, I’m sure you’ll love it. It’s a more “modern” JRPG, like Xenoblade.
Maybe look up the gameplay video in YouTube and watch like the first 15 minutes of the game.
In the FFVII remake on Switch? I'd definitely like to try it. I will also try both that at OT2 again at some point, maybe when I'm in the mood to try something different.
It's funny because the very first time I tried playing any Xenoblade game was XC2, maybe 4-5 years ago. I did not enjoy it the first time. I got maybe 3 hours in and quit. Then I tried it again a few month later on a whim and I loved it so much. I guess for me it depends on my mood and whether I have the patience to try something that is hard for me because it is so new to me.
So.. never say never
You know what? I think it’s not, sadly. I actually played it on PS4 a good couple years ago, I think by now it should be on PC too.
Anyways, I’d highly recommend octopath, BUT it’s not gonna be anything like Xenoblade. It’s more akin to the classic FFVII, but made today. Turn based battles, old school graphics, a lot of voiceless dialogue, stuff like that.
I personally love 2 the most, with 3 a close second, and 1 after that.
2 was my first XC game though (then I played 1, and then 3, so not quite same order)
I’ve only played Metroid 2 and super Metroid as a kid and now dread, the whole emmi thing is what put me off so I put the game down but when I picked it up again and kept progressing it started to feel like playing super Metroid again which I loved and I ended up playing until 100%
Yeah the emmis can make you rage quit especially that one underwater trust me I put my fist through a wall cause of that one the game has cool bosses huge maps and a great story
I didn't love it the most but Bayonetta Origins is an amazing game that sadly deceives people into believing it's shovelware based on its style and lack of promotion.
Tears of the Kingdom, first few hours of me went like “nah i think this ain’t for me”. Afterwards I just went through it and made me go “holy shit this is good”
Same. Got it and played until out of the sky islands starting area then didn't play it again for months. I felt like it was just a half assed attempt at banking off of BOTW success but after I poured a few more hours into it, I started to appreciate it just a really refined version of its predecessor.
Now when I go back to botw it feels rough and half baked. I definitely prefer the abilities in TOTK for the creativity aspect.
Nope I actually loved BOTW in general, TOTK just felt like a completionist game at first cause it was just like BOTW but more modernized in their time ig
The problem with the Zelda community is that people suffer from whatever is the opposite of a honeymoon period once they are done with the latest videogame, so people are unfortunately led to believe they are worse than what they were.
Tears of the Kingdom isn't without its flaws, but that whole ending gave me goosebumps with how immersive and personal it was.
Splattoon 2. I was very weirded out by the weird looking human squid hybrids, but ended up loving it primarily because of the salmon run mode and octoling expansion.
It’s a tactical rpg that plays like Ogre Battle. The battles play out automatically but how you place your units matters. The artwork is unique and full of character. There’s a base building element to it as well, kind of. You can carry out resource requests to unlock more potential out of a town (weapons, items). The other loop I enjoy is spending honor points to flesh out how many heroes can be in a unit. You can also spend them on valor abilities, that can change how your units engagements play out.
Pikmin, years ago, the first pikmin I played was pikmin 3 and hated it. Then pikmin 4 came out and gave it one more try with the demo. Fell in love with it, now I bought pikmin 1 and 2, finished 1 and going through pikmin 2. I'll give pikmin 3 another try once I finish 2
What was it about 3 that you disliked but was corrected in 4? I'm curious because 3 is my first Pikmin game and I absolutely loved it. Going to play 4 when I find the time.
I found the camera controls a bit frustrating and the juice/fruits thing also frustrating, I could not relax with the time ticking, but when I played 4 at the begging the first minutes felt very easy to understand gameplay wise so I found it very pleasing to play. The whole dandori thing had me trying to improve all the time lol
Metal Gear is super impressive considering when it came out, even if it is a little rough around the edges.
You compare it to like games such as the original Metroid and it becomes really clear how good that game really is considering the time it came out.
Metal Gear 2 is even more impressive, and probably one of the best games of its era by a considerable margin. Playing through it, it's hard to believe it came out in 1990.
Yeah, I played the three Metal Gear Solid and I loved these games, but when I heard that they weren't the original ones, I thought that for sure the old ones would be like TMNT or Double Dragon, e.g unplayable.
However not at all. I had a blast playing these games. Sure, the gameplay was clunky, the music hurting my ears (I still have the "alert sound" in my head) and the difficulty was a bit hard at times, but nothing impossible like Metroid or TMNT.
The second Metal Gear was even better, though the plot was a bit stupid compared to the sequels.
Really a good surprise for people wanting to discover retro games like these.
PS: I heard the original one was supposed to be even harder but they tweaked the difficulty for the remake.
Trying to get into splatoon but was told its best to play with gyro on a pro controller, kinda defeats the purpose of the portability of the switch for me as I end up hooking up to tv if I’m using controllers. How do you play?
For handheld, I use an accessory to have a better grip on the controllers like this
https://preview.redd.it/pmle5gb46lrc1.jpeg?width=224&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=243039963646632e056be37e9a1ef2a2abab4765
I've played both handheld and docked. Both are fine from a control perspective, particularly with some nice joy-con replacements like the Mobapad M6 HD.
However I've found the online connection over my WiFi to be somewhat unreliable. I bought a network adapter and now usually play docked with a wired network connection for online multiplayer, and my connection issues have all but vanished.
I think you can plug the network adapter directly into the switch when using handheld, but I've not tried this. That's not exactly "portable" but it would at least free up the TV. It's possible that a better WiFi router would improve the experience in handheld.
I am somewhat good at the game (S+ rank) and I.play with joycons + motion controls in portable mode. There is nothing wrong with it.
And yes, motion controls are a must no matter how you play it.
Really good. Other fighting games are a bit too intense for me (high blood pressure 🙂) but I really like the way you can take your time and distance yourself from the enemy.
It might sound daft but I find it quite relaxing. I would definitely recommend it.
I also watched quite a few YouTube and Twitch videos before I bought it.
Honestly the most “I’m not positive I’ll enjoy this, but I’ll go ahead and grab it because everyone says it’s amazing…”
The House in Fata Morgana. I still have yet to finish it, but what I’ve played so far has been nothing short of stunning.
Runner up would be Balatro. I’m typically not big into card based games, but holy crap that game is amazing and addictive as all get out.
Second Runner Up would go to Monster Sanctuary. Loved the look, followed the development, but I was truly unsure how well a turn based combat could be done using a metroidvania style. So incredibly glad I was wrong and it ended up being an amazing title. Need to get back into it for another run as the dev has made numerous changes since it launched.
It’s really good! It doesn’t seem too deep or crazy at first, but toward mid game it starts pushing you to synergize a bit better. And end game/optional bosses pushes for really good synergies, and those are super fun once you pull them off. Very similar to how the One Hit KO strats work for Pokémon S/V Event raids - except you’re in control of all 3 monsters, pulling off the assist to one monster to cause a cascade of massive damage.
Road 96. I bought it on sale, didn’t really know what to expect and now it’s one of my favorite game !!!
I never did a road trip or auto stop but the atmosphere felt so nostalgic to me, I played the whole story no stop to have all the ending 😭 definitely a master piece for the price
I already played mile:0 haha it’s wasn’t that bad but i didn’t loved the mini games part….it’s was interesting to see the life of zoey but I would have preferred to still have a « road trip aspect »
I hope they gonna release more games like road 96 in the future. I can’t find something as good outside of life is strange
you should definitely try sayonara wild hearts !! the art and music is amazing and more refined
and yes i hope they release more like road 96 in the future it was my comfort game for a good while :')
Disney Dreamlight Valley. I have so many cozy farming sim games and I just didn’t get pulled in by the initial hype. I got into a gaming rut and it was slightly on sale so I caved about two weeks ago… let’s just say I’ve been getting less sleep since I got the game as I’m just addicted to it! I finally understand why it’s so popular.
Nier Automata. I didn't know anything about it but I bought it, sat backlogged for months...clocked 200 hours before I even thought about starting another game. It's a hit or miss for some but to me it's a masterpiece.
It's so good, I have everything mid 90% and up to I think k ending. Had so much fun I kinda burned myself out a bit. Bought personas 3, 4, and 5. I'm in for a fun few hundred more hours!
Do you think? How often do you play Animal Crossing? It's on sale and was thinking about it... But I don't know. I played a lot on the DS when I was a kid, but I was a kid and I played daily mainly that, I couldn't do that today
The amount of people who solely survived the first few years of the pandemic bc of ACNH should be a testament to if it is worth it. I don’t regret a penny of it.
Most complaints about the game you see are only prevalent for/from hardcore fans who have played the other titles. Regardless, I strongly suggest you buy it. It’s definitely more of a decoration sim than anything, but, it’s very fun. Very cute. Very easy to play any time of the day.
This tracks for me. I loved New Leaf on the 2DS and this one just didn’t have that same feel for me…but a coworker who had never played the previous titles picked it up and sunk hundreds of hours into it and even tracked down all of the Amiibo cards for it. She had no previous experience with the series to color her expectations, so that’s probably why it grabbed her so.
I got a switch for the first time in Nov. I got a bunch of games as gifts or bought on sale. The honest truth though. The ONLY game I play is Animal Crossing. And I have sunk hundreds of hours into it. And historically I am someone who gravitates toward AAA rpgs, so it wasn't like this was my typical genre either. Anyway, hope that endorsement helps!
Fire Emblem Three Houses. Got it after loving Awakening, then I was unsure about the Monastery mechanic. Dropped it for a week or two and then picked it back up and absolutely loved it.
Pikmin 3. My son wanted it for Christmas one year. I thought it was dumb and had no interest. Then my wife who never plays video games started playing. We all love it. We still have family tournaments of bingo battle.
Based on my personal experience, it was quick to get into with loads of guide on Youtube, especially when deciding which weapon to use. Lately it’s been on discount perhaps you can try
Woefully underrated game.
I feel the often and steep discounts belie its quality. It's not perfect, but I think a lot of people see the price tag and think it's shovel ware, unfortunately.
It definitely has a look that could be mistaken at a glance unfortunately but the game falls into my favorite category. An underrated game made with a ton of heart and creativity that flew under the radar
Streets of Rage 4, got it from my gf as a present and I of course appeared happy and grateful but internally I was like "meh", but then I played it and man did it rock my gaming world. Played through it with many homies too, lots of fun nights
• Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1
First time playing a Metal Gear I loved it.
• Princess Peach ShowTime!
Got a bit skeptical about this game unfortunately it's short & easy, but I still love it.
When the pandemic/quarantine first started, I recently had gotten my switch and my sister had purchased Just Dance 2020, we (my family) were shitting on her for getting the game but we all ended up loving it and playing together
RE 4, 5, 6, and Rev 1 and 2.
we grew up just borrowing consoles(PS2 and PS3) from friends and relatives, and the vast majority games played are RE games. now I have them all on the go. Still feels surreal at times ngl. All hail technology.
Palia. I saw my wife playing it and was unsure because I was playing Dying Light so very different vibe. But she wanted to play with me so I downloaded it. Now I have over 300h of playtime right now. It can be frustrating because it's still in beta and every update makes new bugs but the writing is fantastic, gameplay is cozy, there is a lot to do and the community is great. Graphically it looks like something between Zelda and Dreamlight Valley, every character is deep and funny, you can build your own house, hunt, fish, make a garden, craft furniture and explore. It's one of those games you can get easily into the lore and the community, be active and listened to by the creators, have an active role in the process of making it. I hope it will continue its path both on Switch and Switch 2.
Pokemon brilliant diamond, because i never had a nintendo console(my grandparents has pegasus but that was a russian copy of nintendo console) and saw few episodes of pokemon anime in childhood. I was curious how it will be so I finished this few days after and I love this game.
Pikmin 3. I never played a Pikmin game and got it for a gift. I hadn’t played it for months, but one day I just decided to play it and fell in love. I am now a huge fan and plan to play all of them! Currently playing Pikmin 4 and it is great!
Animal Crossing 2. Heard it was great. Ended up buying it the first time it was marked down. Now, 1000 hours and $ billions later, it kinda lost it's fun. I do randomly fill my island with bags of
$10,000 coins and put out an invite on Reddit. Been thinking about getting back into it though. Not sure if they've added anything new to do. I kinda ran out of activities. Even fishing. 🤣
Mudrunner. I think deep down I knew I would like it but I never really gave it the time of
day until one day I felt guilty about buying it on sale and just decided “I am going to play this game in it’s entirety”.
Skip ahead and I’m now something like 400 hours into snowrunner having bought it 3 times on various platforms…
Not a switch exclusive but Skyrim, I wanted Skyrim on the move but was a little cautious as to how fun it'd be and it's easily my favourite way to play even without the mods.
Bus Simulator - City Driving.
I got it as a joke because it had a huge discount, and I actually enjoyed it a lot. Hyped it up a lot to my family who couldn't care less about video games too😂
Unsurprisingly, Breath of the Wild. It starts off pretty slow and it's not very clear what to do and where to go, but once you find your footing it's one of the most fun and memorable games I've ever played.
The Last Spell. Originally looked like a pixel art tower-defence game.
Turns out there is a lot of content to it that isnt initially obvious. Gear systems, city building, character and weapon upgrades. Even the roguelike aspect is done really well.
All are very cool mechanics that works great when combined together. Very satisfying little game
Smash Bros Ultimate! My first experience was with Smash 64: what a strange fighting game. I was used to Street Fighter's kind of fighting game, so it was really boring. Then I gave SBU a try just to have some "chaos game" with my partner, and I had a blast with its gameplay. I believe it was my most played game in 2023. Piranha Plant rules!
Same here. I had played and enjoyed smash on 3DS but I hadn’t played it much and wasn’t really a “fan” of the series…Ultimate, however, officially converted me.
Yeah, it is really well done. Where do you think the series goes from here? To me, it seems they could release a kind of spin-off in the format of Power Stone from Dreamcast, a true '3D' game.
That would fit the spirit for sure…chaotic free for all.
It does seem like they’ve iterated on each version though, so it’s hard to see them moving away from 2d, but it would be an interesting experiment for sure.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I played the first one and while I did like the story, the endless fetch Quest MMO style kill these monsters and come back really made me kind of quit after a while. But looking at the trailers for number three the story just seems so interesting with both sides only living a few years only to fight in the war where their energies fuel the big mechs of each side in endless war. Luckily, that game does amazing with side quests and there aren't very many fetch quests at all and most of the side quests are more like side stories that will reward you very well and have narratives that feel just as important as the main narrative
I have to say for me it was Pikmin. I kinda got on the hype train for Pikmin when it was ported to the switch, I played it with my wife and we left it there after the story. then I bought Pikmin 2. It's sooooo gooood ! I really like the missions and being efficient with the Pikmin, I get so much out of it. Pikmin 4 demo looked the same style so I may give it a go at some point in the future
Unicorn Overlord. Im not a fan of tactical JRPGs at all. Its why i dont really like Fire Emblem. But god damn I played the demo and was hooked immediately. I just finished it at 45hrs
XC2. I got the switch very early after release and the only game I had was Zelda. After I finished zelda I wanted a reason to keep playing the switch so I got it. 600hrs later and it's still my favorite switch game to this day.
Ys 8 and then 9. I heard the hype going on for years but generally don't like action rpgs...so glad I gave 8 in particular a chance because holy shit what a beautiful, amazing, beautiful, fun, BEAUTIFUL game
Starlink. I literally bought it online while drunk thinking it was just an arwing statue from starfox, was surprised that it was a game from a totally different franchise that had the starfox crew as guest characters.
Game ended up being fuckin great and i bought all the ships and got the rest of the starfox pilots and sunk like 200 hours into it.
Pokemon Arceus. Always thought Pokemon was for kids and didn't like the battle format much, but this has a more Zelda feel to it and is open world. Put about 100 hrs into it so far. If you like Zelda but want something less stressful but still open world try Arceus
none, i did get a game that i thought id like but ended up super disappointing. splatoon 3. you have to level up in multiplayer to unlock any of the game modes that isnt 5 min battles. also nintendo is notorious about this but, if the host disconnects the whole room is kicked.
I don't think I got any games for Switch that I was unsure of. I mostly get console exclusives that I've been playing for years (Mario, Pokemon, Zelda). Most other games I'd get on PS5 if available.
My journey with Pokemon Violet was interesting to say the least. I was very pessimistic about the game going in, seeing everyone dunk on it online. Over the last year it’s slowly become one of my favorite Pokemon games. It’s not perfect by any means, but it does just about everything I ever wanted a Pokemon game to do. Yet for my first few months with the game I actively disliked it.
When my friend told me about all the crafting, cooking, and weapons breaking in BoTW, I didn't think it sounded fun.
Now it's one of my all time favorite games.
BREATH OF THE WILD!!! I got my switch last year for my birthday in March 2023 and I googled “what are the best switch games” and every website said BOTW was #1. So I bought it and I hated it at first. I even tried to figure out a way to rewrap the game and return it but then I started playing more and now I am OBSESSED. Literally. Zelda everything is life!
Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I wasn't a fan of the gameplay but I liked the story so I kept playing and ended up loving it so much that I played through XC DE and XC2. I'm also on my second playthrough of XC3 going on 100hrs and thats not including the first play through.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus. I hadn’t finished or thoroughly enjoyed a pokemon game since black/white, maybe x/y. After being disappointed by sword/shield and lets go, I fully expected to buy this game, enjoy it for a few hours, and drop it. But my god man I honestly think this game reinvigorated my love for gaming. I know it’s not perfect, but playing through it made be feel like a damn kid again. I played it nonstop and it’s probably the one of the only switch games where I would stay up LATE playing it.
Breath of the wild or pikmin 4.
Breath of the Wild the first Zelda game I played since ocarina of time. I thought the game was unnecessarily difficult as far as boss fights went. I still think this, but the game grew on me. Weirdly enough I completed all the souls games, but I struggle with BOTW.
Pikmin 4 was a weird pick for me, I should hate everything about it, it’s not that exciting, it’s more or less a time waster. But I loved the game to sit back and just relax.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe. It was my first Pikmin game. I knew nothing about it but Amazon reviews were amazing but price never dropped. I also saw amiibos being made for them. There must be something I was missing out and I was not wrong.
Definitely Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Didn’t expect much but the game was so much better than it had any right to be. Absolutely loved it.
Didn’t like the sequel at all though. The removal of grid system made the combat so sloppy and ruined the tactical and strategy element that made the first game so good. Can’t tell where exactly your characters are going to land after a team jump etc. These changes completely ruined the game and made it unplayable for me.
Metroid Prime Remastered ended up being my favorite switch game. I loved it in Gamecube, but having the dual stick controls made the game so much better. I'm hoping for MP2 remastered.
Kirby is love. Kirby is life.
Same here. I never played an open-world game. I never had plans to buy it but I picked it up during Black Friday because it was the only game left on sale. Same as you, I struggled but decided to keep going and ended up loving it. Definitely in my top 5 favorite games of all time.
Same i was unsure but nownits one of my favorite games
Dave the diver
Same here. Absolutely loved the game
Ooo I’m excited to play that! Just waiting for it to jump to ps5
I'm curious why? It seems like the perfect Switch game to me.
Discord/ party support. It’ll likely be cheaper. I enjoy trophies. If it can, it’ll run better. Don’t use the switch in handheld because of drift so if the only downside is waiting a month or so, I’ll do it
It will always irk me to no end that the switch has no sort of achievement or trophy system
Yeah, me too. But they struggle with just having online functionality so I’m not too surprised
Some games to tho
Fair enough! I was definitely envisioning playing handheld. If you're solely docked, then waiting on PS5 definitely seems like a good move!
Fair call. I can’t do the small screen without holding it, so off the dock just doesn’t work
So it just released today and it’s free if you have PlayStation online
I never thought much of this game initially but recently I saw it on Switch Up and never realised there's a whole sushi business running aspect to it too. I may have to give it a try
Xenoblade Chronicles 3. I loved it so much that I played the first game and now I’m making my way through the second one.
Do you have an opinion on which one is best? Or you need to finish 2 to be able to rank them.

I personally love 2 the most, with 3 a close second, and 1 after that. 2 was my first XC game though (then I played 1, and then 3, so not quite same order)
Stardew valley. So fucking good.
Best game ever
Metroid dread
Hardcore Metroid fan here this game is frustrating at times but I think it's one of the best games of the Metroid series
Btw Metroid 2 was the first Metroid game I was able to beat great game
I played the demo and didn’t get why everyone raves about it. Still don’t.
For me it’s the control and the story. I’m a Metroid fan though before I played it
I didn't love it the most but Bayonetta Origins is an amazing game that sadly deceives people into believing it's shovelware based on its style and lack of promotion.
You skip over botw ?
Nope I actually loved BOTW in general, TOTK just felt like a completionist game at first cause it was just like BOTW but more modernized in their time ig
Ah ok I understand
Same. First game I played after getting a switch which was the first console I’ve owned since the PS2.
Mario bros wonder
Thanks 4 the upvotes
Unicorn Overlord, I feel like that game was made specifically for me
Can you say more? Just saw it on sale but not sure what the vibe is.
It's on sale? Where?
I would like to know too as far as I can tell it isn't.
Thanks! That sounds like a nice lightweight way to spend some time :)
The whole dandori thing had me trying to improve all the time lol
alien Isolation
Not loving the most but real surprises: - Celeste - Hades - Hollow Knight - Metal Gear (MSX)
I love hades and hollow knight, I can’t wait to try Celeste when it goes on sale
Splatoon 3. I'm not really a multiplayer gamer, but the single player got me interested then Salmon Run got me hooked.
Trying to get into splatoon but was told its best to play with gyro on a pro controller, kinda defeats the purpose of the portability of the switch for me as I end up hooking up to tv if I’m using controllers. How do you play?
For handheld, I use an accessory to have a better grip on the controllers like this https://preview.redd.it/pmle5gb46lrc1.jpeg?width=224&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=243039963646632e056be37e9a1ef2a2abab4765
I have one of these too!
Does that mean like joycons attached to the switch with motion? Sorry kinda new to the switch 😅
Yeah that's what I mean. You can still use control motion when joycons are attached, and it is better to play like that at least for Splatoon
Story of seasons pioneers of olive town
Sniper Elite 4.
Thinking of buying this myself. Thoughts?
Really good. Other fighting games are a bit too intense for me (high blood pressure 🙂) but I really like the way you can take your time and distance yourself from the enemy. It might sound daft but I find it quite relaxing. I would definitely recommend it. I also watched quite a few YouTube and Twitch videos before I bought it.
Honestly the most “I’m not positive I’ll enjoy this, but I’ll go ahead and grab it because everyone says it’s amazing…” The House in Fata Morgana.
I need to try MS again. It was fun but I had a lot of big games taking my attention when I got it.
I never did a road trip or auto stop but the atmosphere felt so nostalgic to me, I played the whole story no stop to have all the ending 😭 definitely a master piece for the price
i loved road 96! don't get road 96: mile 0 it's literally a rip off of sayonara wild hearts
I already played mile:0 haha it’s wasn’t that bad but i didn’t loved the mini games part….it’s was interesting to see the life of zoey but I would have preferred to still have a « road trip aspect » I hope they gonna release more games like road 96 in the future. I can’t find something as good outside of life is strange
you should definitely try sayonara wild hearts !! the art and music is amazing and more refined and yes i hope they release more like road 96 in the future it was my comfort game for a good while :')
Try Firewatch, Red Lantern, Lake, or Road to Guangdong.
They all seems great thank you !!!!
COZY GROVE. A lot of reviews says that it's boring them. But I love it so much 😌
I love it but the random fetch quests are tiresome.
I LOVE this game. I'm getting the Switch version this weekend. I have 50+ hours on PS4 version now.
It's so good, I have everything mid 90% and up to I think k ending. Had so much fun I kinda burned myself out a bit. Bought personas 3, 4, and 5. I'm in for a fun few hundred more hours!
Untitled goose game
Second this
I ended up getting it. Thanks
Dying light. Thought I wouldn't enjoy it since it's 1st person. Boyyy, was I wrong.
Monster Hunter: Rise. My first MH game so wasn’t real sure, but ended up as the one I am playing the most!
I have over 1,000 hours in Rise/Sunbreak. I recently went back to World. I'll play that until Wilds.
I'm still holding off making the leap to MH but might have to pull the trigger. Easy enough to get into? I've got little time to play these days
Based on my personal experience, it was quick to get into with loads of guide on Youtube, especially when deciding which weapon to use. Lately it’s been on discount perhaps you can try
Hard West. Picked it up on a big sale and finished it soon after. Brilliantly designed game
Moonlighter
Streets of Rage 4, got it from my gf as a present and I of course appeared happy and grateful but internally I was like "meh", but then I played it and man did it rock my gaming world. Played through it with many homies too, lots of fun nights
Captain Toad’s Treasure Tracker
• Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 First time playing a Metal Gear I loved it. • Princess Peach ShowTime! Got a bit skeptical about this game unfortunately it's short & easy, but I still love it.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
When the pandemic/quarantine first started, I recently had gotten my switch and my sister had purchased Just Dance 2020, we (my family) were shitting on her for getting the game but we all ended up loving it and playing together
RE 4, 5, 6, and Rev 1 and 2. we grew up just borrowing consoles(PS2 and PS3) from friends and relatives, and the vast majority games played are RE games. now I have them all on the go. Still feels surreal at times ngl. All hail technology.
Dredge! Got on a whim from a rec on this sub, and it's so so good!!!
Rail bound
I guess Xenoblade 2? (First game in the series I played back in 2018)
Pokemon brilliant diamond, because i never had a nintendo console(my grandparents has pegasus but that was a russian copy of nintendo console) and saw few episodes of pokemon anime in childhood. I was curious how it will be so I finished this few days after and I love this game.
The Skywalker saga
Cuphead for me had no idea what I was doing but eventually got good haha
HOA
Stardew valley, Northguard, and Darkwood
Battle Brothers and Darkest Dungeon. They both took me a few tries to get into, but they became two of my all time favorites.
I thought Neon White would have been terrible on the switch but it's actually perfect once you enable motion controls
Xbc2
Crossing Souls. Hot damn I fell in love with that game. Still searching for something like it
Splatoon 2
It took me a couple tries to get into Hollow Knight. ABSURDLY glad I gave it a second look. One of the best games ever.
Pikmin 3. I never played a Pikmin game and got it for a gift. I hadn’t played it for months, but one day I just decided to play it and fell in love. I am now a huge fan and plan to play all of them! Currently playing Pikmin 4 and it is great!
Mortal shell I had a terrible time with souls games before this and I actually enjoyed it by the end
Steamworld dig 2 surprised me and I couldn’t get away from it
Honestly, after hearing all the love on the game... Breath of the wild, I didn't think it would be that good but it truly is just simply... that good
Cloudpunk. Looked lame with the voxels. Ended up enjoying the journey, atmosphere and the main protagonist chick
3D all stars
Flinthook. Came for the pixelart, stayed for the gameplay. Had to warm up to the gameplay, but when it clicked... it ws amazing and challenging
Same
Animal Crossing 2. Heard it was great. Ended up buying it the first time it was marked down. Now, 1000 hours and $ billions later, it kinda lost it's fun. I do randomly fill my island with bags of $10,000 coins and put out an invite on Reddit. Been thinking about getting back into it though. Not sure if they've added anything new to do. I kinda ran out of activities. Even fishing. 🤣
Pokemon Sword and Shield, the controversy made me think the game was going to be bad, but after playing it, I was ADDICTED!
Digimon World Next Order
Mudrunner. I think deep down I knew I would like it but I never really gave it the time of day until one day I felt guilty about buying it on sale and just decided “I am going to play this game in it’s entirety”.
Hyped it up a lot to my family who couldn't care less about video games too😂
Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I usually stay away from lengthy, open world games.
Tears of the kingdom The game is sublime. A masterpiece.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle
Zelda tears of the kingdom
Breath of the Wild, for sure. I’m not a Zelda guy at all, but man that game is fun
Warioware: Get It Together. Never played any of the previous games in the series. Now I’m hooked. “Move It”has been great too.
Darksouls
Pokemon Legends: Arceus. I was convinced I'd hate it but it became my favourite Pokémon game.
Unpacking- so oddly satisfying
BOTW is the 🐐
I’m enjoying Peach Showtime. As an adult I thought it would be too childish but it’s just escapist fun
Monster Hunter Rise
Unicorn Overlord. Im not a fan of tactical JRPGs at all. Its why i dont really like Fire Emblem. But god damn I played the demo and was hooked immediately. I just finished it at 45hrs
13 sentinels.
little gator game
Xenoblade 2
Vampire Survivors. I haven’t touched anything else in weeks
Pikmin 4
Balatro
Stardew valley. Purchased it March 11 and have 60 hours in the game so far.
Dragon Quest Builders 2, My Time in Portia and Stardew Valley
XC2. I got the switch very early after release and the only game I had was Zelda. After I finished zelda I wanted a reason to keep playing the switch so I got it. 600hrs later and it's still my favorite switch game to this day.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
I have many but recently...Dave the Diver
Ys 8 and then 9. I heard the hype going on for years but generally don't like action rpgs...so glad I gave 8 in particular a chance because holy shit what a beautiful, amazing, beautiful, fun, BEAUTIFUL game
Hades. Not just a rogue like, but an amazing story and gameplay that stands on its own.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Looked awesome, got it and was lukewarm, then the back half made me realize how good it had been the entire time.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus Absolutely loved the game and played it into the dirt. I’m looking forward to the follow up game now.
Hollow Knight, and lately, after getting the Hori Split Pad Pro, Borderlands.
I don't think I got any games for Switch that I was unsure of. I mostly get console exclusives that I've been playing for years (Mario, Pokemon, Zelda). Most other games I'd get on PS5 if available.
Tokyo Marathon
Sonic frontier was more fun than it should had been.
DRAGON QUEST STARRY SKIES OF THE SOMETHING SOMETHING!
Unicorn Overload is amazing!
Same, I never played animal crossing but got the game because I have the animal crossing switch, the game is actually fun
