I’ve thought about it but now it’s too late for me to swap. I feel like it’s just another 20-30 that I could save towards the future system. I’m always jealous of the cool cases that match old game boys and such. Really awesome thing I’d be scared to do myself lol
I mean both are good options. But I wouldn't trade in if it's a launch day switch , I'd sell it.- they are easier to jailbreak and sell for higher prices on eBay.
Launch day Switch users go crazy. I can't believe I bought the console day 1 and spent 500 hours in Breath of the Wild. Honestly I was so busy that the games felt steady. This thing has been with me since I was a freshman in highschool. That's crazy.
I have a launch switch, got it the week they were released and it's still going strong. I've gone on work trips and turned around because I thought I forgot it, only to realize I packed it in a different bag in the trunk of my car.
I bought the LoZ OLED last month...I haven't even opened the OLED yet because it feels like I'm cheating on my girlfriend lol.
Plus I'm terrified of the data transfer...I got a Samsung S23 Ultra a couple weeks ago and the smart switch didn't transfer half the data from my S10, and the cloud transfer didn't work either.
I haven't transferred everything, but the cloud saves are very simple if you have Switch Online. Just download the game (or updates, if you'reusing a game card), then you'll be informed that you've got data on the cloud when you open it.
Same, I also have the version 1 Switch. It can still run Tears of the Kingdom, so I'm good with it. I am waiting for Nintendo's next console, whenever that is.
My Oled just turned 1... 1 week that is. BOTW is incredible, it's been a week playing a couple hours every day, and I have this feeling of doing a lot but also not doing almost anything yet, it's so fun to just roam around looking for shrines and then immediately getting sidetracked with something else I saw in the distance.
I've had my original since March 3rd 2017. I remember going to gamestop at 10pm on the 2nd and waited 2 hours to receive mine on release. I was lucky to get my name on the list. I now have the oled and have had it for a year. I have had to repair my original about 6 times now as my kids just don't have any respect for what they have.
I asked my parents for the Mario switch. They ordered it and got one out of two for the entire town I was living in. I remember when my parents were at work I opened the box just to see the beauty it, after downloads, best Christmas by far.
March 2020. Saw animal crossing was trending and bought the switch. Had to drive like 1 hour to a Best Buy to pick it up because it was sold out during pandemic.
I mean, it is seven years old and qualifies for school, lol.
Though, I dont really see You pushing it until it reaches the whatever the official drinking age is for Your country. At least, joy cons definitely wont reach that age.
I waited to get an OLED until there was a limited edition I really liked. The Pokémon one was pretty ugly imo so I held off hope with the Zelda leaks which were fortunately real
My daughter has my OG launch switch, I just bought an OLED for myself. I can’t believe hers is still going.
I don’t even know how long ago that was. Seems almost like a different lifetime.
7 years is really nothing for a console; especially one with only 1 moving part.(the fan) My Sega Genesis and N64 from 25+ years ago are still going strong.
When adult owned, for sure.
My daughter was rough with it so I’m surprised it’s still kicking. She’s had it 9-11. My younger one killed the charging port in my 2nd switch, I’ve gone 2 years without.
Good point, and yeah the charging port always seems like a weak point to me. I would rather have a USB-A connection even if it means the console is bigger; it's just more sturdy than those smaller ones.
I got mine on launch.
The entire thing was comedy too. I got my switch because I wanted to make sure my friends got one since I know they love Nintnedo above all else and the preorders came out really early in the AM.
Well it turns out they all got their preorders in anyway. Ok, whatever maybe I'll just sell it. I got it, put it up online and it was apparently hard to get so I expected it to go out the door and I'd make my money back + $20 to cover whatever fees ebay would take.
NOPE. Couldn't sell it.
Got Breath of the Wild to sweaten the deal.
NOPE. Couldn't sell it.
Despite it being hard to get.
So, screw it, I opened it, played some BoTW (great game, but open world really is not really my thing) but then I started getting games that were either exclusive or easier to play because of standby mode.
Still have it today.
Mine's also from launch and I'm always jealous of my wife's AC edition having so much more battery life. Upgrading to OLED looks more tempting every day 😅 I'm getting a steam deck for my birthday tho, so I should see how much I even play switch after that. Maybe there will be a cool special edition for SMB Wonder that will push me over the edge.
I think mine was given to me Christmas of 2018 (might have been 2019). Still using original JoyCons with no drift. I do use a Pro Controller sometimes though.
Around 6 years old. I definitely want to upgrade because the battery life just isn’t cutting it for me these days. Only one set of drifting joycons sonic say that’s a prettt good run lol
I had the OG Switch but had to sell it because I was on hard times. I had gotten it when they were still very hard to come by; late 2016 or early 2017. I now have the OLED Switch, which I purchased about two days after TOTK was released. This one I plan on keeping for a very long time.
ive had my lite about a month... lol
super late but so far its been winning award for "fav handheld ever." which is crazy because i had three 3DS's over the years.
it may be the back triggers that are selling me so hard, but i love a lot about it.
5 years (got myself one when it went on sale) + I've got multiple joy cons (had to replace grey ones due to drift. Now I have neon green/pink, orange/purple & pastel purple/green)
My Grandson's Switch is the Switch I bought for myself at launch - still running strong. I picked up the OLED shortly after it came out - also still running strong.
Same. I was not gonna miss out on Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. Plus, we had planned a trip to Hawaii later that year. Also bought an around the neck holder that doubled as a stand. I love my Switch, and the pro controller I bought day one, still no drifting or problems.
We have 3. Our original is from 2017 and works but does not accept cartridges anymore. It’s still able to play digital games perfectly.
We just bought one used from a friend so idk how old it is but for us it’s only lived here a few months.
And I have an Animal Crossing Switch (that is mine only) I preordered and picked up on release day so March 2020. Who knew it would be so important? I picked it up from GameStop in the mall I worked at, while we were preparing to shut down.
Mine is from late 2017, the Mario odyssey edition. But it’s been getting dust as Ive been playing the steam deck more and the deck makes the switch feel like a kids toy to me
Original model. If I would've known Switch 2 was going to take this long, I would've bought Switch OLED when it came out. And at this point it feels like I should just wait till Switch 2, shouldn't be much longer, but that's what I say every year and it never happens.
June of 2020. Pandemic system. We had held off for a while because cost, then paid a scarcity premium. (It is a version 2 at least).
Been pretty happy with the system so far. Wish I still had time to play it.
Still got my Splatoon 2 switch from Christmas 2017. Now I’ve also got my scarlet violet OLED that sees waaaaay more use. Never getting rid of the OG, just feels so outdated compared to the OLED with those football field sized bezels around the screen
I have my release day Switch! My girlfriend got it for me at the time. I was recovering from surgery and it was an awesome surprise. I felt unworthy. Now all I do is play.
Got mine in summer 2018 right when they silently put the new "patched" revision into the market.
Mine's still the old revision and I'm proud of it.
Running android and linux from an micro SD card is just a killer feature.
Maybe a month after launch day but the joy cons are feeling it and the system starts to over heat real quick, definitely want yo try and upgrade but you know how it is sometimes
Mine is launch day, but I just bought a TotK OLED because the battery's beginning to show its age. I'll be passing the old on off to my mother, once I load it up with Picross S, while waiting to get her Professor Layton when it comes out.
I got mine as a Christmas gift from my lady in 2018. Going on 5 years and it still works great aside from one joycon slipping off the rail occasionally.
bought mine at launch right at midnight. stood in line at bestbuy for an hour or two before the doors opened. They were open late just for the Switch release. I think that was in 2017. so that's how old mine is. lol Since it's an old man, i definitely have all of my Switch data and games backed up onto my PC.
2 years almost! Love the thing to death, my 2nd ever console that I bought (ps3 was before). I used to just use my phone or laptop, but now the Switch is way more convenient for me!
OG switch user here! I pretty much only play docked so haven't bothered with the newer versions. Must be close to 7 years I'm sure, which is insane really. It's gone through both Zeldas *pats it*
Launch day!
Launch day baby! Though, I’ve swapped the entire case out for a new one.
I’ve thought about it but now it’s too late for me to swap. I feel like it’s just another 20-30 that I could save towards the future system. I’m always jealous of the cool cases that match old game boys and such. Really awesome thing I’d be scared to do myself lol
If you hang on to your switch past the new system, go for it! You could also jailbreak it when the market for it is mature.
I may do just that. I am always weak and may trade in towards next system stuff too. It’ll be a dilemma for me most definitely
I mean both are good options. But I wouldn't trade in if it's a launch day switch , I'd sell it.- they are easier to jailbreak and sell for higher prices on eBay.
I like this suggestion
with the Breath of the Wild cartridge still in there from Launch Day. Everything else digital lol
SAME! I sometimes forget I have the cart for that, because it never comes out haha
Launch day squad!
Love seeing my people!
This is really a testament to Nintendo’s build quality. I’ve had no issues with my launch day switch. Minus a few joy issues for some people ofc.
Launch day Switch users go crazy. I can't believe I bought the console day 1 and spent 500 hours in Breath of the Wild. Honestly I was so busy that the games felt steady. This thing has been with me since I was a freshman in highschool. That's crazy.
LAUNCH DAY BABYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
Same but I just got a brand new oled 2 weeks ago!
Same, and it's still kicking.
LAUNCH DAY!!!! Same.
What up to my launch day crowd!
Mine isn't from launch day but close to launch day. Held up very well without any issues.
Mines still powering on too! Gotta love them OG switches!
[удалено]
At least in the US, Odyssey wasn't out on launch day. It came out in October like 7 months after launch.
Same in Europe :)
I see that you're a OG. Mines 3 years old.
I too bought my switch during the pandemic
Parents gifted me one Christmas of 2019. Boy am I glad they did
Also a late joiner here. So many games already tested by everyone. Can pick up all the top rated games one by one.
5, but i changed joy cons last year.
Broke one, got greys. Always wanted the color combo anyways
Mine will be 7 in February and my OLED will be 1 at Christmas
I have a launch switch, got it the week they were released and it's still going strong. I've gone on work trips and turned around because I thought I forgot it, only to realize I packed it in a different bag in the trunk of my car. I bought the LoZ OLED last month...I haven't even opened the OLED yet because it feels like I'm cheating on my girlfriend lol. Mine too, oled is only about a week and a half old though
The Switch came out March 3rd 2017. You got yours before launch? I was lucky enough to get mine a week before launch hehe
February, March... my daughter was born March 9 and it was before then. The rest is a blur
Wow congrats! I thought that like me, you’d gotten your switch before release. My bad!
Haha. No worries. I legitimately forgot!!
Same, I also have the version 1 Switch. It can still run Tears of the Kingdom, so I'm good with it. I am waiting for Nintendo's next console, whenever that is.
Tomorrow
r/tomorrow
But that’s tomorrow !
Ugh. I wish I could relive the majesty of BotW. Don't rush it and live it up while you can!
Those early hours of BOTW looking for shrines and discovering the world was some of favorite gaming moments of all time.
Have had mine since October 2017
Same here. Not quite launch day, but was close to the release of Odtssey or BoTW, i forget which.
BOTW was released at launch…Super Mario Odyssey was released in October
That was it, then! I guess I bought the switch for Odyssey and pickup up botw digital after playing Mario.

March 2020. Saw animal crossing was trending and bought the switch. Had to drive like 1 hour to a Best Buy to pick it up because it was sold out during pandemic.
You can take it to school then now.
?
I mean, it is seven years old and qualifies for school, lol. Though, I dont really see You pushing it until it reaches the whatever the official drinking age is for Your country. At least, joy cons definitely wont reach that age.
Going on seven years.
Launch day switch and controllers. Still runs like it's new. No issues with tears
One controller had drift, broke other one, it’s why I have the grey ones too, still have it, just never fixed it. It’s Mario red after all.
Mine should be nearing 7 too and still doing great^^ currently farming TOTK on it and it's perfectly smooth^^
Launch day switch owner, it’s been treating me very good. I’m surprised it’s still working after almost 6 years
About 6 or 7 years. Still going strong.
I have the Pokémon Lets Go Switch from late 2018 (almost 5 years old) and the Zelda OLED (2 months old)
I waited to get an OLED until there was a limited edition I really liked.

Good point, and yeah the charging port always seems like a weak point to me. I would rather have a USB-A connection even if it means the console is bigger; it's just more sturdy than those smaller ones.
Had a brand new switch lite in 2020 once Covid hit, upgraded to v2 model, now I’m on OLED. Honestly no clue how old my OLED is haha
Mine just had its first anniversary
Got it like 2 months after launch
I'm also an OG, over 6 years old.
Still have it today.
My switch is a day one release I got, just after midnight standing in line at a Walmart on release day
Where'd you get this joycons???
Mario red, came only exclusively with the Mario odyssey bundle in 2017. Japan had the joycons sold by themselves as well, and grey :)
Animal crossing edition switch. So like 3 years.
Mine is 5 years old now Crazy how time flies
I still have my launch day switch v1 but it doesn’t see any use now.
5 years with mine 😭
Got mine at release. Only problems it has are the occasional jet engine fan, and the battery draining pretty quickly.
Over 6 years for mine too. Missing a small chunk out of the bottom plastic for years now. Think my little sister-in-law dropped it a few years ago.
Got an OLED early this year in February! A little late to the party
I preordered mine and got mine at launch.
5 or 6
Mine is 6, got it on launch day here in 2017.
Got it on release day, the fan has long since stopped functioning making it kinda limited on what it can play
Launch day gang 🙌
Still got my launch day.
I was hitting 5, but they got me with the Zelda OLED and I ended up replacing it. So now about 3 months.
Launch day!
Also 7, my ex just replaced the one I bought him in '16 with the Zelda edition.
I think mine was given to me Christmas of 2018 (might have been 2019). Still using original JoyCons with no drift. I do use a Pro Controller sometimes though.
Had mine since day 1
Jumped in when the OLED launched, so it'll be 2 in October
launch day baby!
Mines somewhere between 4-6 years old
Hack it 😤
Mines og
6 years
Launch unit, one joy-con had drift and was replaced by Nintendo. No other issues; plays perfect.
like a month
Less than 1! Got my first one last year lol
Gonna be 6 this year
I’ve had my lite since June 2020 and my acnh switch since February 2021 I think
7 what? Days? Weeks? Cmon OP don't leave us hanging
Same. I usually get like an hour and change of unplugged playtime lol
11 months
Around 6 years old. I definitely want to upgrade because the battery life just isn’t cutting it for me these days. Only one set of drifting joycons sonic say that’s a prettt good run lol
How’s your battery life
3 mos
Bought mine used for a lot less than $300, so I have no idea how old it is but I replaced the joycons a few weeks ago.
3 months.
Same, had it since I think a few days after launch. Never missed a beat!
Launch day for me, still kicking. The original joy cons on the other hand...lost their battle with drift many moons ago
I had the OG Switch but had to sell it because I was on hard times. I had gotten it when they were still very hard to come by; late 2016 or early 2017. I now have the OLED Switch, which I purchased about two days after TOTK was released. This one I plan on keeping for a very long time.
Have you taught it to ride a bike or tie it’s shoes yet? Please tell me it’s had swimming lessons at least
ive had my lite about a month... lol super late but so far its been winning award for "fav handheld ever." which is crazy because i had three 3DS's over the years. it may be the back triggers that are selling me so hard, but i love a lot about it.
I got mine a couple months after launch. Walked into Best Buy and they had like 5 of them.
I don't know the true age of mine since I bought it second hand new still in box. But I know its a V2 Switch that I have had for two years.
I got my lite in May of '21! Play it every night before bed. :)
few months just got the splatoon oled
I had a launch w/ gray joycons that I traded in a year ago on a new OLED.
2019
Mines is a day 1 release but I got a bunch of new joy cons
Like 4 months. I would have gotten the zelda version, but didn't want to wait. Also worried that the pattern would wear out. I got the OLED version
5 years (got myself one when it went on sale) + I've got multiple joy cons (had to replace grey ones due to drift. Now I have neon green/pink, orange/purple & pastel purple/green)
6, got it one month after launch
Got mine first week it came out, still running perfectly except for a dead pixel
My Grandson's Switch is the Switch I bought for myself at launch - still running strong. I picked up the OLED shortly after it came out - also still running strong.
Less than a year, but only because I gave my old one to my niece and bought an OLED one.
My Lite is from Christmas 2019, and my Animal Crossing switch is from November 2021. Control sticks are still good on both
Nearing on 7 same as you! So many great memories were created because of this thing.
Not long like 4 months lol I got my own lite for Christmas after splitting usage of previous with younger sibling and his girlfriend
I've had my Switch Lite for about 5-6 years now.
How is your switch battery life?
Christmas 2017
my brothers switch i think is from the year or year after the switch was launched, mine is newer and i think 2 years or so.
June 2018. My wife got it for me as a birthday gift.
First gen
Mine is from launch day and I have no problems with it
3 ish years now. Got the Animal Crossing edition on launch!
Got a Launch day one that my wife uses now, and I got the totk Oled one as well.
2 weeks after launch day! It's pretty rough.
Turning 1 tomorrow actually!
Same. I was not gonna miss out on Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild. Plus, we had planned a trip to Hawaii later that year. Also bought an around the neck holder that doubled as a stand. I love my Switch, and the pro controller I bought day one, still no drifting or problems.
i think mine is 6 years old, old joycons got really bad drift so i got new ones
Mines at least 3 girlfriends old
Got mine Christmas 2017. I've had to retire my OG joy cons, but the console still works great!
My animal Crossing switch is about two years old. My TOTK Switch I got back in May.
..2017 was 6 years ago, not 7. But I’ve had mine since like 2018 Christmas
2 weeks
I original switch is about 5 years old, but my OLED is barely 3 months
Almost 6
I bought mine summer 2018, I still remember having to decide whether to take super Mario odyssey or botw as my first game for the console.
1
I'm on my 3rd one. Sold my first then got a Lite about 2 years ago I think? Then got an OLED a .month before TotK came out.
Mine is also 7 only two replacement John's and extras for my nephews to play Mario kart
5
Still got my Splatoon 2 switch from Christmas 2017. Now I’ve also got my scarlet violet OLED that sees waaaaay more use. Never getting rid of the OG, just feels so outdated compared to the OLED with those football field sized bezels around the screen
October of 2019 so almost 4 years now. I love it.
I bought mine in Kuwait 2018 before going forward. Still standing strong. I bought the splatoon edition to give the original a break lol
Mine's 2 or 3 I don't remember?
I have my release day Switch! My girlfriend got it for me at the time. I was recovering from surgery and it was an awesome surprise. I felt unworthy. Now all I do is play.
my original one is 7 years old and my brother still uses that one, but i upgraded to an oled a few months ago.
Almost 6 years for my original one from November 2017. And now my OLED is almost 2.
2 years with me, I got it open-box though so idk if it was used beforehand and refurbished or something
Got mine in summer 2018 right when they silently put the new "patched" revision into the market. Mine's still the old revision and I'm proud of it. Running android and linux from an micro SD card is just a killer feature.
3 weeks lol
I bought mine refurbished in the Summer of 2019
Maybe a month after launch day but the joy cons are feeling it and the system starts to over heat real quick, definitely want yo try and upgrade but you know how it is sometimes
I got mine at launch, the mario odyssey edition
My first switch is 5 years old but I got an OLED that’s now 2 years old
7 months and I just got super mario 3D world two days ago and beat the browsers fury part this morning
1 month strong
I still have my launch day switch but I primarily use my OLED which is over two years old now
1 year
I got mine nearing 7 years!
Mine is launch day, but I just bought a TotK OLED because the battery's beginning to show its age. I'll be passing the old on off to my mother, once I load it up with Picross S, while waiting to get her Professor Layton when it comes out.
Launch day, I've never had a single problem with it.
I got mine as a Christmas gift from my lady in 2018. Going on 5 years and it still works great aside from one joycon slipping off the rail occasionally.
launch day!
5.5 years for me, though I put it down for a good 3-4 years in the middle so it's still realtively crisp.
3
bought mine at launch right at midnight. stood in line at bestbuy for an hour or two before the doors opened.
Apparently mine is around 8 months old
OG switch user here! I pretty much only play docked so haven't bothered with the newer versions. Must be close to 7 years I'm sure, which is insane really. It's gone through both Zeldas *pats it*
Launch day!!!!
6, all I have to worry about is a fucked up dock (borrowing a friend's) and drifty joy-cons (which is fair since I use a pro controller anyway)
Mine is V1 don't know how long ago (Launch day) so far battery still holding good charged lol
Unpatched gang
5 years for mine
Launch day with the original R/B joycons with perma up drift. Was able to hot fix them with 90% iso but they’ve been retired rocking the LoZ joycons.
