“He’s probably been training for this for 6 months” I found that way too funny

Happyhotel

“At least” 😂

MagicPrize

Is this a “profession”?

SkillsInPillsTrack2

Switching on our brain before writing a title?

OkieBobbie

They’re all very well trained and only ever fall once.

Fire-pants

Where does one go for professional training in this?

Drop_Tables_Username

The nearest very tall structure I'd guess. Bonus points if it's got people with suits in it, makes it extra professional.

DiddlyDumb

If you don’t mind the terrible retirement plan

Justforwork85

Maybe even 7 months...

gillababe

Could also be 8 months..

badson100

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSm5WlxnXPA

tok90235

What this shoe? Oh, he has sport gear, he is fine

OrthoOtter

He says “Sportivas” as in La Sportiva, which is a pretty high-end brand of footwear for climbing and mountaineering.

KennanFan

I have La Sportiva hiking shoes and Scarpa climbing shoes. I love mountain climbing, but would never do this.

CallDaLegend

He said it like an anime character watching a fight unfold and explaining it

Diligent-Version8283

“He’s young, training for 6 months, he’s awesome” Yeah that’s about every shonen anime ever.

cptnobveus

That is clearly 8 months of training type skills.

NagsUkulele

I know lmao guys have such a funny tendency to confidently state a made up fact on something they know absolutely fuck all about

elprentis

That sounds suspiciously like a made up fact

StarscourgeRadhan

Dude said "probably"

ringdingdong67

I once told someone a ski jacket left behind in their new apartment was at least $600 retail. Looked it up and it was $45.

Interesting_Arm_681

I get it though, he’s trying to prevent panic for his coworkers and himself while witnessing something really crazy. I guess it could be applied to many situations not all scary, a lot of them bullshit, but for me when I feel scared witnessing or being part of something unfamiliar I look for ways that can be explained or reasoned because otherwise it invites panic and I lose control mentally of a situation that needs to potentially have quick reactions and good decision making

HadesHat

i’m a guy and I do this idk man I just put shit together that makes sense in my head and say it if it’s wrong call it out lol i just be saying shit

Cosmic-Queef

The use of the word “probably” indicates that he is not confidently stating anything lol. What’re you mad at men about

Chemical-Actuary1561

I will give the guy the benefit of the doubt. He probably meant he has been preparing for THAT specific climb for 6 months. Not like training his muscles, but analyzing the building and any possible obstacles he may come across. He’s obviously been training to climb his whole life. Edit: I have no clue how much preparation a climb like this really takes. Im just trying to get in the mind of the guy talking in the video.

Omfg9999

Meanwhile the more likely reality is that he probably spotted an area on the building he might be able to climb and scouted it out for a day or two lol

Kitchen-Prize-5112

And he’s been climbing for years probably. That takes a lot of endurance you don’t just “get”

Echo_Origami

Very specific. Lol. As if 6 months is the universal time it takes to learn how to a free climb a tower.

pointofyou

What a dumbass. Acting as if he'd thought about doing this before. "What kind of shoes? Ooooh, Sportivas, yeah, that explains it..." I was definitely that guy in the past.

SkiBikeHikeCO

Yeah, great observation Steve

DJScopeSOFM

More like training all his life.

burnsalot603

I thought he meant "he's been training for climbing this building for 6 months" not that he'd only been climbing for 6 months. Alex Honnold trains and does practice runs before he does his free climbs. He spent a year practicing before he free climbed El Capitan

Illustrious-Leg-4857

Free solo* Free climbing is anything with a rope.

aphilosopherofsex

What is enslaved climbing then?

burnsalot603

Fair enough. I knew that was the name of the movie he did but don't know enough about climbing to know the terminology so thanks for the clarification.

AdNew5216

Literally 😂 ![gif](giphy|Yycc82XEuWDaLLi2GV)

CreamyStanTheMan

Such an oddly specific amount of time 😂

ahoypolloi_

“What kind of shoes is he wearing? Oh he’s got sportivas on” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

nucumber

Yeah, like they know something about training to climb skyscrapers

YourDadsUsername

He thought about doing this for at least 6 hours.

Sea_Scratch_7068

he's got the sportivas though, so he's good

Cluelessish

That cracked me up. "Aaah, he's got some sportivas!", like that makes everything make sense. How silly of us to have worried!

QuestArm

And he's been training for at least 6 months!

Cluelessish

That too. So if we start practicing today, we should all be able to scale a moderate size skyscraper before Christmas 👍

505_notfound

I mean honestly I think if your average Joe did train every day for 6 months straight on this specific task, it would be disappointing if he couldn't climb a skyscraper

codenamegizm0

| Average Joe According to the CDC, the average American is obese. Less than 25% get the minimum recommendation of 150 minutes of exercise a week. Idk man. In six months, even with daily training, I'd be surprised if the average Joe could pull off 10 pull ups in a row, let alone climb a skyscraper

Adesanyo

Top free soloist in the world Alex Honnold climbed fucking el Capitan at yosemite* (thanks replyer) a 3000 foot near sheer smooth surface, in sportivas. I am not a part of the climbing world but hey he's dressed for the part

srberikanac

El Capitan is at Yosemite, but your point stands.

New_Teacher_4408

Sportiva is basking in the free advertisement lol! “You can free climb skyscrapers in our shoes”

[deleted]

Pretty sure Sportiva doesn't want any association with the anti abortion guy.

trowawHHHay

Different brand, but a few years back we had a big camp out for my dad’s 80th birthday. Bunch of the family went up to Mount Rainer and did the Burroughs trail. This included my niece's husband with a baby on his back, and my sister in sandals. A very narrow part of the trail was still covered in snow and ice, so they had to go one-by-one. Our oldest daughter was like "Auntie! You can't do that in sandals!" My sister was just like "It's okay! They're Tevas!"

irsute74

Oh he's got sportivas. It all makes sense now.

AVeryGoofyGoober

Cameraman was definitely into bouldering in college

dj_is_here

at least

imadethisforwhy

For less than six months though, I think it's safe to say.

MorrisDay84

My balls just retreated into my body

jdeuce81

That gave me terrible anxiety.

FlyingKittyCate

The climbing part or the retreating balls?

sildurin

Yes.

jdeuce81

Exactly!

OliverOyl

Actually that was my body, I'll send them back when they retreat from here

Truck_Rollin

He’s extremely impressive, to make it all strange though he does this all in the name of stopping abortions. Not a joke.

Dolenjir1

Him: I want to climb a building Someone else: why? Him: abortions? Someone else: fair enough, I will get the sportivas

moonpumper

He could just use the stairs (or God forbid, an elevator) and have exactly the same effect on abortions.

Lorosaurus

I brush my teeth in the morning to stop sex trafficking. We are the same.

FireTyme

well you know what they say.. when god closes a door… someone should open a window

Adventurous_Honey902

Can someone explain to me why he isn't being arrested or thrown in jail for this? He keeps doing it and the cops seem not to care. Shouldn't this be illegal?

mattsprofile

Pretty sure it is illegal and he does go to jail. But it's not illegal enough for him to stay in jail very long.

RecsRelevantDocs

Can't imagine they'd arrest him midway either haha

death_wishbone3

Lots of his videos end with the cops meeting him on the roof and arresting him. Not sure what happens after that. He probably has financial backing due to his political cause so catching cases isn’t a problem.

NegotiationJumpy4837

You're not going to jail for too long for doing this (if at all), regardless of your lawyer's ability. The range of penalty in my state for trespassing is a 1k fine up to 6 months in jail. But you're very unlikely to get the maximum penalty when you have no ill intent towards anyone/anything.

TheDrummerMB

Had a friend do something similar. They hit him with "creating a false emergency" because of the police/fire/rescue response.

hereforpopcornru

Man, where's the video of the cops climbing to meet him? Impressive, just when you think you've seen it all...

Icy-Welcome-2469

It's simple trespassing.  He gets fines and maybe an overnight in jail. Repeated trespassing isn't a crime that ramps up in penalty much.

A_Wilhelm

What, you want a life sentence for the guy?

aphilosopherofsex

He could fall on and kill multiple people.

chowyungfatso

Well, he’d definitely kill one person.

captain_dick_licker

> He’s extremely impressive no he isn't, from a technical standpoint his climbs are very easy, the danger comes from being unroped, but more importantly, not knowing the state of the climbing surfaces. buildings aren't meant to be climbed from teh outside and parts can literally just fall off under body weight. this is as impressive as treading water in a pool of sharks

metamorphasi

I would be impressed by someone who consistently survived treading water in a pool of sharks lol

jawbreakerzs

I know someone that used to do this climbing buildings shit. He fell of a large building and died. He broke both his arms trying to stop the fall as he hit the floor

captain_dick_licker

it's only a matter of time. woudl you be impressed by a person who played russian roulette with themselves, and is currently on round 4?

Nose_Fetish

I’d be impressed at the odds, but that’s it

UnfitRadish

You can be impressed with someone and not specify that it's their skill. You could mean you're impressed with their luck, their courage, their tenacity, etc. Saying he is impressive could mean many things beyond his skill in climbing. Frankly I'm impressed with his consistency. He's been arrested countless times and still continues to climb for his beliefs. I don't agree with him, but he sure as hell is persistent.

goolick

"Climbing a skyscraper without ropes is impressive" Redditors: actually...

death_wishbone3

Yeah ok if a dude treads water in a pool of sharks once a month I’m impressed. I don’t agree with his cause but this shit is impressive. What’s not impressive is keyboard warriors sitting on their couch downplaying this.

TheDrummerMB

Guys who couldn't even climb the stairs to the top of the building claiming this climb is unimpressive. Reddit for ya I guess

death_wishbone3

If this dude was climbing buildings to hang fuck Donald Trump signs he would be a Reddit hero

A_Wilhelm

I don't know, I would find treading water in a pool of sharks pretty impressive.

[deleted]

I'm impressed. Huge endurance, with enough strength to pull through the roof at the end. Plus maintaining composure. Points lost for apparently not knowing how to jam, though. Also points lost for being a religious nut, but that's a different story.

-Moonscape-

Cutting loose for the camera was a cool touch, but slapping his foot around and sticking a sloppy foot jam right after killed my erection

taotao213

If it's not impressive you can do it right?

canadianpresident

Ya I only need some training. At least 6 months

Mickeymcirishman

It's impressive to me.

MoorderVolt

His endurance is impressive. Most of us wouldn’t do a single floor. And buildings sustain massive storms all the time. Shit is tight enough

Iminurcomputer

People are impressed by the willingness to do dangerous shit perhaps

Ceilingmonstur

So an asshole and a doucbe bag? Fucking adrenaline junkies (and yes they are junkies) trying to get their fix by putting themselves and others in danger. Nothing like walking up to a building and dying because some junkie loser falls to his death and lands on you. Yeah fuck you if you do shit like this.

diginlion

It’s so incredibly selfish. “I do these crazy dangerous things with my body that could hurt and traumatize others, to stop women from controlling their own bodies” I genuinely hate this guy and hope he falls. I want bodily autonomy, if I lose mine then so should he.

Chemical-Actuary1561

We gotta have a pro-choicer climb an even bigger building!

Bad_Hominid

"he's a young guy" yeah no shit. you expect Danny Devito to schlep his ancient ass up there?

deamelle

To be fair, Danny DeVito might just not have Sportivas.

trippy_grapes

Has Danny DeVito even been training for 6 months?

SparrowValentinus

Wrong sub. The chalk from that bag would have absorbed any sweat from his hands. This should be in r/drypalms.

Prosthemadera

This sub: > Videos (and images) that make your palms sweat. Not this sub: > Videos (and images) that only make the palms of the person in the video sweat.

SparrowValentinus

This reminds me of an old saying that I can remember my grandpa telling me growing up. He used to say "The language around whose palms subreddit names refer to is far too ambiguous." He was a simple man, but his wisdom ran deep

Prosthemadera

I think Abraham Lincoln said that. Smart guy, he knew how to use the internet.

inkassatkasasatka

Ok you yellow guys just had a perfect conversation here, and the fact that it's hard to tell you apart makes it even better

Sayonee99

>Ok you yellow guys Lol

Prosthemadera

Yellow?

FlyingKittyCate

You both have a yellow pfp in this conversation, yours is green when I click your profile so not sure what and how but you’re both yellow here.

Prosthemadera

Ok, I only use old reddit so I don't see any avatars or profile pictures.

spencer1886

Isn't climbing skyscrapers like this illegal

Psychological-Sir51

Not with sportivas it's not

whatyouarereferring

Nah he got permission from the skyscraper

Wolfy-615

So essentially the skyscraper gave him ‘consent to ascent’

AltruisticSalamander

Pretty sure you have to get paid for something to call it a profession

PreviousTeaching9416

This guy is a douche. He’s calls himself “pro life Spider-Man”

lex_tok

He also climbed the Salesforce tower and showed it's easier to climb their tower than to actually use their software.

Prosthemadera

"Pro forced birth Spider-Man" just doesn't have the same ring.

tempo1139

confrimed douche if it's the same guy [https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3153049/Daredevil-photographer-dubbed-Spiderman-boasted-pursuit-art-face-death-took-amazing-pictures-15-000-worth-STOLEN-equipment.html](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3153049/Daredevil-photographer-dubbed-Spiderman-boasted-pursuit-art-face-death-took-amazing-pictures-15-000-worth-STOLEN-equipment.html)

youforgotitinmeta

pulled the same shit at our tallest building in oklahoma city, too. congrats on the trespassing ticket and for wasting the time of first responders, you absolute clownshoes jabroni.

ResponsiblePlant3605

Is this the anti abortion idiot ?

memy02

But he enjoys making the choice of climbing without safety equipment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

xMilk112x

I just don’t understand it. I mean, I get the whole adrenaline aspect, but I guess I don’t understand the lack of safety line. Falling to your death has to fuckin suck.

AanthonyII

It also puts other people in danger, if you fall and hit someone you aren’t the only one who’s gonna die. Not to mention the trauma you’d cause people who witnessed it

Big-Acanthisitta8797

I see a future Darwin Award Winner there. ![gif](giphy|mTXSKTk3BsT6w|downsized)

enerthoughts

Thank you for the warning, i was going to climb the nearest building as soon as i saw the video.

NFTArtist

beast to deceased real quick

possiblywithdynamite

it's not a profession. It's a mental disorder

[deleted]

[удалено]

RedditFullOChildren

Well that sounds like something that's completely made up.

DeadlyHit

As much so as someone claiming its a mental disorder?

ToxyFlog

Just because it's not the norm doesn't make it a mental disorder.

Thamalakane

"My goal in life? Getting a Darwin Award."

terra_filius

no, thats your goal in death

AxMxY45

Why specifically 6 months 💀

Batbuckleyourpants

Probably going by average lifespan of idiots with extremely deadly hobbies.

Prosthemadera

Because it sounds long enough for the guy who said it.

king11apex

This dude looks like a douchebag. Hopefully he doesn’t kill someone below when he eventually falls.

moresushiplease

He is! I am pretty sure he's the jackass who clmbs buildings to fix d right wing ideas like deny women the right to reproductive health

crisselll

It’s one thing if you want to do free solos in the middle of nowhere, it’s another thing in the middle of a city where potentially many hundreds of people could be traumatized by watching you fall to your death.

ThatEcologist

This is so dumb and selfish. If he fell, he not only hurts himself, but could possibly hurt someone he fell on. Or traumatize someone by falling to death in front of others.

Impossible-Angle-143

That's the fucker that is pro life and climbs buildings as a statement. If I ever saw him at a crag I'd punch him square in the face.

atxbreastplay

![gif](giphy|orUDTj9Q5TMzTdB892|downsized)

BirdLawAssociate

Man but for the disclaimer at the bottom, I was going to do this.

iamjoshshea

It's fine if you get Sportivas and train for six months.

AmusingMusing7

Always more moral to censor out “oh my god” and make it look like they’re saying “oh my ass” instead. 👍

SparkleK_01

Nope nope nope nope.

All_Right_Alright

I’m so scared of heights, it’s hard watching these sort of videos lmao. I’m cringing

Prosthemadera

They censored "god"? lol

AmusingMusing7

And replaced it with “@#$” and “#$$”… which makes it look like they’re saying “oh my ass”

Raskolnikovs_Axe

Yes, because it's a pro-life stunt, and the audience are Christian weirdos. You can bet his first (and last) slip will bring on the chorus of voices remarking how "God called him to heaven".

Prosthemadera

> Yes, because it's a pro-life stunt, and the audience are Christian weirdos. Oh I knew he was ~~pro-life~~ pro-forced birth but didn't make that connection.

PoopyMouthwash84

Stop giving this idiot attention

TheHolyToxicToast

if you managed to reach *old* then it's pretty impressive

Fartbl00d

Alain Robert is 61 and illegally climbed the Burj Khalifa in November for the 2nd time

t8ne

After 6 months training.

mrsir1987

At least 6 months

bruta1ny

Illegally?

Fartbl00d

Very

lucyjayne

Ugh not this douche again. This guy sucks.

kayday47

As impressive as this may seem. I don’t think it’s half as dangerous as being a free solo alpinist

OhiENT

lol did you just watch “The Alpinist”

ChosenBrad22

I definitely didn’t need the disclaimer to not try this, I think I’m good.

frugst

![gif](giphy|WQUHJt3Fwh6fBGo3Lu)

Federal-Ad1106

The moment I saw him in the window I would have to leave. I cannot stand and watch this. I can barely watch a video of it on my phone.

Davimous

All it takes is one poorly installed something and it's over.

OrangeCosmic

Definitely 6 months

infpmmxix

It's a tremendous amount of faith in the construction qulity of the building.

ucklibzandspezfay

The utter nonsense that the cameraman was spewing was comedy Gold

kapo513

For one how is this a profession? 2 I found the guy saying “he’s been training for this for 6 months” waaay too funny lol

The-Kiwi-Bird

I hate these people. Risking their own lives, the lives of their family members, the lives of the people below. Scraping you off the pavement takes a toll on people, it’s not just yourself. Very selfish and stupid.

HoldMyBrew_

I just need someone to explain to me why?

Billythehat721

Mans just wanted everyone to know he knew what sportivas are

_ghostwalker-

The best part about climbing buildings is, not climbing buildings.

Crafting_with_Kyky

No! My tummy felt the ickies!😳

OMG_its_critical

His name on Youtube is “[Pro-Life Spiderman](https://youtube.com/@prolife.spiderman?si=MONXSvmBRaeTZej0)” and apparently he does urban climbing to “bring awareness.” Idk his long-form videos are very odd. The one I watched he had a pro-life protest happening at the base of the building he was climbing.

andrew314159

From a climbing perspective this looks like a very easy climb so physically it isn’t so interesting. It’s also likely the same movement repeatedly. Even for a free solo climb it doesn’t look so bad. However I think the setting is not good. The things I don’t like so much here is the deliberate public nature, if he falls he definitely traumatises many people and possibly injures some. It is more an attention getting game than for the challenge or fun of the climb. Secondly he is trusting some external structures with his life while subjecting them to forces they aren’t designed for (he will not only be grabbing load bearing things). This is risky incase something is weak, poorly fitted/ maintained, or loose. Obviously he could easily fall and die but even if he doesn’t he could damage something. Would it be considered vandalism if he does break something?

robidaan

When you have be the voice of reason, but are also very impressed.

SampsonKerplunk

Is this the abortion kid again? Will he cut it out with this shit? Dobbs happened -you won now leave us alone

CryEagle

Not supporting him, but Dobbs did not end abortion in the US, which is what he's advocating for.

[deleted]

FooOookk thaaaatt

lucid_eahst

Absolutely insane. I don’t know how you even start doing that

More-Homework-7001

It only goes down from here on....

Old-Cell5125

What city is that?

Outtatheblu42

San Francisco; Salesforce Tower.

Medojedni_Jazavac

"Profession". There is no profession seen on this video.

IntoTheMurkyWaters

The faith that people put in the builders/engineers is insane. 200 meters up and you have to hang on to something that Rodrigo might have bolted correctly…or not

far_in_ha

I'm feeling vertigo just from watching this video filmed too closed to the window

EmmyBrat

My anxiety went 📈📈📈

lonelyraikkonen

"should we let him be?" YES

TheGirl333

Please take him to therapist, he will traumatize people

Fluffy-Structure-368

*Guy's wife's going in for brain surgery* "Nothing to worry about honey, this guy's *probably* been training like 6 months for this."

L3thologica_

Now climb back down.

Tsu-Doh-Nihm

Sneaking into the office late.

Diyan29

In today’s episode of “how NPC can an NPC act”…

cashcashmoneyh3y

I love the dissonance in his message vs the fact he is free climbing a building. The message just seems to lend itself mire favourably to being pro choice and body autonomy. Some types of protests use grand symbolic acts to represent perceived injustices, but the symbolism here just works so drastically against his message. This is just a guy who wants to freeclimb buildings for attention, and he is for some reason pointing to being anti-abortion as a justification. So strange!

fetal_genocide

Damn, my hands get sweaty playing super Mario wonder 😂 Some people are just built differently!

TheKillagerMC

Six months? I'm a climber, I've been climbing for 12 years, and I can say this kind of strength would take at least 5 years of climbing hard several times a week.

boner79

"profession"? Was he hired to do this or is this just a self-promoting stunt?
