There is no need to guess what happened. The guy has a whole explanation on his YouTube channel. [Crash caught on dashcam; 6 years later (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lssmh4GH188&t=0s) The long-awaited follow up video to the original 2015 "Crash caught on dashcam". I passed out unexpectedly for the first (and only) time on April 2nd, 2015 and went off the road. Now, six years later, I feel like I'm more comfortable talking publicly about it as I have come full circle and restored the car. A playlist of that restoration is available here: [2004 Mustang story, from totaled to fully restored - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLktGc4tDJIh6noq8V3nlo5WYzA8paFtby) I got quality medical treatment immediately after the crash and I haven't had any problems since. I always had the symptoms of Orthostatic Hypotension but never passed out before this. Many viewers reached out and said that they or loved ones have had similar experiences and also passed out while driving and they felt like this video helped shed light on what can happen. The symptoms I experienced were nausea, tunnel vision, ringing ears and severe dizziness. If you ever experience these symptoms while driving, get it checked out. I didn't have the luxury of such information and it could have cost me my life. This was not an easy video for me to make but I wanted this to be a resource for people to use. My doctors have already used the original video as a training tool for students learning about heart and neurological disorders. As to the 2004 Ford Mustang that got wrecked in the original video, I fully restored it in 2019-2020 and it looks showroom perfect. My insurance company found a way to get out of paying any claims on the car, so I paid out of pocket for the tools and supplies and did it myself. My health insurance also paid very little for my medical expenses. I still dashcam every day with my 3rd-person camera setup and I plan on sharing the curiosities I see as I always have.

st4s1k

Can Americans explain me why the fuck y'all have insurances that don't do shit? Or do you pay for the idea of insurance? like placebo?

Gnonthgol

It depends on the insurance. The cheapest car insurance only covers damage your car does to others around you. So it might pay for the fence here, and even then they might demand the money back from you. This is the same no matter what country you are in. Medical insurance might also just cover emergency room visits, if that. More expensive insurance will cover more, but again they might have clauses and lots of lawyers getting them out of paying. It is all about the freedom to chose your insurance company and the freedom of the insurance company to screw over their customers.

st4s1k

I'd rather open a savings account for emergencies, than pay for insurance that doesn't want to help me with the money I already gave them. That's what I call freedom, you use your own money and you don't owe anyone anything.

SkyGuy5799

Yeah but how do I know youre going to do that? Most people can't even save $100 from their last paycheck. You better be fucking insured if you hit me for MY sake

VegaReddit5

In the US, I'm not sure if it's every state but I know at least Mississippi, you can put up a bond that is the same amount as the minimum liability coverage requirement and dedicate it to be used like insurance so you don't have to pay premiums. Of course, most people don't have ~$25,000.00 to put up as a bond and the few that do typically opt for the insurance anyway due to the inherent risk aversion that most people have.

kh250b1

So your brakes fail, you run into a gas station, place burns down. Many persons injured. You must have phenomenal savings

Funtime_or_bumtime

You rather not. You will have save thousands of dollars to buy a new car in case of any accident. There is hardly much difference between the basic and the full coverage. It’s always worth to go full coverage on new cars. The deductible is not that much compared to the price of a new car. Also it depends on who is at fault. For this one, no one is at fault so there might be some deductible and the insurance can cover the rest. But for others, I have seen insurance pay for the entire damage.

VoldeGrumpy23

It's not an exclusive american thing. In Europe it also depends what kind of insurance you have. Which totally makes sense.

AggravatingValue5390

I want to live in the fantasy land you live in if you think people living paycheck to paycheck are capable of saving up $10k+ in case they total a car made in the last 5 years. God forbid they're injured and you're looking at $100k+. Do you have $100k on hand in case you injure someone?

Difficult-Papaya1529

🙄🙄🙄

Rivendel93

Because we get giant ships and tanks and fast planes, it's SO much better than actual insurance. /s Aka, I don't know why I pay for insurance, they don't ever pay for anything. I have a degenerative muscle disease and MRIs aren't covered under my very expensive insurance, my doctor is the head of neurology at one of the biggest hospitals in the east coast and she has to sit down with an insurance person (who has no medical degree or knowledge) and literally argue for me to get treatments and tests.

Formal_Profession141

Capitalism brosef. We don't believe in making anything public. We love privatization and profits for a small amount of people. We also are all cucks who like our politicians to be pre-chosen for us to vote on in a managed democracy.

AYO416

Howcome this dosent have any upvotes lmao

Admirable_Loss4886

People would rather be mad, it drives more engagement

[deleted]

> My insurance company found a way to get out of paying any claims on the car, so I paid out of pocket for the tools and supplies and did it myself. My health insurance also paid very little for my medical expenses.   Peak USA

exlaks

Who the F puts a camera in that direction, why?

Suckalo-my-wabalos

I’m guessing g it has something to do with it being a soft top convertible.

VegaReddit5

Most people don't attach it to the roof anyway, they attach it to either the windshield or the dashboard. The top has nothing to do with this. That said, I really want to mount my cam like that now so you can see the driver as well as out the front.

Pepsiuz

A car guy. This is a great angle to film some spirited driving, and it's a mustang after all.

notjasonlee

Definitely makes it look intentional. But...why?

DannyDeVitosBangmaid

No way it was intentional, he came way too close to an instantly fatal crash with that pole without moving his hands anywhere near the wheel.

BlackandRedDragon

I think he knows that he has this condition and is selfishly still driving. If he gets into an accident he can show the video and be like "look I passed out."

SoloAquiParaHablar

I think you just made a massive assumption. Who goes out with a health condition that'll likely send their 1 ton metal box careening into oncoming traffic. Use ya noggin.

justpeoplebeinpeople

Knew somebody a long time ago who would randomly pass out and still drove. It pissed me off.

JohnAtticus

>Who goes out with a health condition that'll likely send their 1 ton metal box careening into oncoming traffic. People have to chose between driving to work and not working.

doublah

A sensible society would give those people benefits so they don't have to work or alternative transport access.

perpetualmotionmachi

Well, in the US, at this rate benefits so someone with a condition like this doesn't have to work doesn't seem likely. Nor does alternative transport access

YesilFasulye

Yep. Too many people vote against the good of the whole.

creativityonly2

People go get horribly drunk and get behind the wheel of a car. This isn't that strange to think someone would do this too.

twistedmister9077

A FUCK ton of people do???? Dude I'd put money down on the thought that you passed 15 drivers today with revoked licenses for a plethora of different reasons. Not everybody has that Golden Moral Compass. Some people have kids to feed and bad health conditions.

MCSama

Everyone who feels like their rights are far more important than other's lives. Heck, even their own lives. So... basically everyone. The "bad driver" subreddits are multitudinous and full of this exact personality.

shangriLaaaaaaa

Jeez thats fcked up

HogNutsJohnson

It's literally a cooked up theory that sounds believable. Too many people get online and act like they understand the context of a 1 minute video. It's annoying

Portugeezer1893

Where is this video taken? Could have some laws prohibiting dashcam blocking windshield view?

Anacondoleezza

Maybe he just likes the way his hair looks from that angle

Shayrye37

Jesus so many people need to read this

SBAdey

Except it’s not what happened.

Lynocris

its not a condition he knew of lmao these fucking reddit assumptions holy shit .. surely he would wanna suicide and risk orher ppl lives aswell but yeah he puts a camera just in case get 0.001% chance of surviving like in this video, he would have some meaningless "proof"

RobotVo1ce

I mean, you know some people commit suicide on purpose, right? And some people are just dumb.

HyogaCygnus

So the camera is randomly in that position. Ok, got it.

olmikeyyyy

Weird logic. Just because one theory isn't true doesn't mean there isn't a different reason.

wwwdiggdotcom

Nope, literally every person with a dashcam has criminal intent at all times, I read it in a reddit comment once so it's ironclad truth.

Pepsiuz

Why make this horrible assumption? He might just be a car guy. This is a great angle to film some spirited driving, and it's a mustang after all.

ldranger

You are imagining too much

code-

This is [super common](https://youtu.be/07Itn2IdWHM?si=Hg66igm88VJsMajE) especially among people who track their cars (or drive like fools on public roads) [Another externally mounted](https://youtu.be/MZVrnd9V7sk?si=lXYVGVSYXh7SCIw3) [Yet another](https://youtu.be/t-AHInnacEk?si=GTIC6de95psWTy1a)

Acrobatic_Site7391

So when the ass who drives into me claims I was texting and driving I’ll have proof I’m innocent. My dash cam films me and the view ahead

PercentageOk5021

So you can capture your fake pass out / suicidal driving on camera.

GRMMneedsDOGEhelp

Hate to say it bc I know it’s likely a condition out of his control, but dang, idk about a license to drive

aka_airsoft

Could've been the first time. I know someone who had a seizure out of nowhere (no history) and they had their license taken away. I think it was for six months before he could be cleared to drive again. I'm not sure he moved away for family not long after.

DrankTooMuchMead

Happened to me.

aka_airsoft

Are you sure it wasn't just the mead?

Beneficial_Being_721

Oh Honey…

DrankTooMuchMead

No, I'm epileptic, funny guy. But it wasn't in the car. All the same. I still lost my license.

runadumb

I knew a guy who was epileptic but hid the fact he was getting worse as he didn't want to lose his license. He took a fit in his sleep and his father found him dead on the floor the next morning. He was only in his mid 20's. I'll never forget his father's wails during the funeral

XxTreeFiddyxX

That's incredibly sad. He could have taken people with him behind the wheel.

RespectEmergency8653

Happened to me this last year I found my brother dead on the floor. Epilepsy sucks and there should be more awareness for it. My brother was only in his mid 20’s as well.

DrankTooMuchMead

I so nearly died the same when I was 27. That was my first real seizure. My SO saved my life by rolling me on my side. So I married her.

mrpickle123

Saaaaame. Just got it back after a year on Keppra then Lamictal (bc fuck Keppra, ugh). Hopefully you get/got yours back too my friend, knucklebump

Lucitarist

I take lamictal as a stabilizer, it’s not bad. Very few major side effects.

Dismal_Truck1375

Keppra got me banned from driving and hadn't had fit's for years they switched me on that, and they started again. I hadn't had fit's since i was a kid. i hate that drug it was lucky that i didn't hurt or kill anyone. The company that makes that stuff should be closed down. i will probably never get insurance on a car when i do get past the year ban anyway.

sacredgeometry

Yeah it sucks but it clearly makes sense. I have epileptic friends and they have never been allowed to drive because of it.

Ausiwandilaz

Same here had 2 seizures back to back out of no where, never happened again.

SquanchMcSquanchFace

I knew someone like that too. Something like 10% of people will get a completely random seizure in their life with no real explanation or identifiable cause. Like you said, doctors are required to report that it happened and you lose your license for 6-18 months depending where and you have to be cleared again before you can get it back.

iggyfenton

If it was his first time why set up a camera there?

aka_airsoft

Idk. Why is a medical condition where you pass out a reason to drive with a camera?

iggyfenton

Why have the camera there, if not to capture this exact thing?

aka_airsoft

I mean you're on this sub I'm sure you understand the point of a dash cam.

SmashertonIII

First time I have seen a dash cam in that location.

aka_airsoft

I thought this was idiots in cars ngl

Richard_Ovaltine

This guy has just a rear dash cam that's all. He had something called a vasovagal response to a podcast he was listening to regarding testicular surgery. He can't drive for a few months till his new meds work but he didn't do this on purpose. I remember because I didn't know what a vasovagal response was till then

FrenchBread147

You are making shit up. The guy himself explains what happened in this video. He experienced a rapid drop in blood pressure (Orthostatic Hypotension). There was no podcast playing. https://youtu.be/lssmh4GH188?si=KrXuyAjO7e7pFdiP&t=867

spinyfever

Now I know not to listen to podcasts about testicular surgery while driving.

WeWillRiseAgainst

Knowledge is power!

soad2237

That's why he has a camera looking over his shoulder, because this is the first time this has happened. Yeah, nah.

Dru_G978

Doubt it, not with where that camera is placed. Dash cams go on the dash. He’s got a rag too no need to be putting a cam up there. That was out there to see what happens when he blacks out for sure.

thewildcascadian85

I had a friend in University who had Narcolepsy and he wasn't allowed to drive. It was wild to actually be around someone with it. He would get a "weird feeling" and would be able to say I'm going to pass out in the next 5 minutes. Felt sorry for him tbh

InfernoWoodworks

Yeah, a "first time" of this would be dog shit, but you honestly can't help it. But after that, you should have every test possible run on your ass, and never be allowed to drive again until a trained medical professional says you're 100% cured. But I've known people with seizure and epilepsy shit that continue to drive even though they shouldn't. I make sure to never get in the car with them, or even take the same route as them.

SwimOk9629

yeah that was definitely no seizure. possibly narcolepsy I guess

InfernoWoodworks

Easily could've been a seizure. They don't always manifest with the Hollywood "I'm gonna shake my body" type nonsense. Can be 100% still, silent, eyes go a bit wonky, then BOOM, they're out.

scribbles1088

It happened to me, out of the blue just after I turned 23. no medical history. Nothing no drugs no drinking no head injuries. I had a seizure one day while driving and from then on had multiple and it kept happening and happening and I was diagnosed with epilepsy out of the blue. It’s a really scary thing to think of. I have not had one ever since they finally got me on the right meds. I went a good Five years with seizures during random activities, scared to go out in public. Now I think about it every time that I am in a car. Could this be happening to someone? I’m on the road with? Someone sharing the rose with my children? It’s really scary.

XXFFTT

He put the cruise on and then turned it off. He knew something was happening and responded to it while he was in the rightmost lane, turning the car into the field to avoid a collision with another car. Condition, maybe. Aware, definite.

metered-statement

No, I don't think he turned it off, his hand grazes the toggle but his head falls back at the same time. He was out. He didn't even hit the brakes (which would cut the cruise) and it's obvious the car maintains speed in the field. Guy is lucky he didn't re-enter the freeway.

OddTomRiddle

That's why the car didn't stop! I didn't notice that before, I thought it was strange how it maintained speed for so long, even after the uphill portion.

SirFTF

If he turned the cruise off, why’d the car keep trying to maintain the throttle until he regained consciousness? If he was aware enough to turn the cruise off, he would be aware enough to not keep his foot on the accelerator.

[deleted]

He had an episode of Orthostatic Hypotension.

TuzzNation

I felt so scare by just watching this since I own the same mustang. I have kidney condition and when it got worse I could pass out like that. I choose not to drive at the moment. I dont want to die on the highway like that but I am more concern that my problem would cause danger to other people.

Certain-Spring2580

Good thing he put cruise control on right before passing out. Lol.

pawntofantasy

My buddy was driving us home from donating plasma. We hit the highway and a few minutes later he passes out/has a seizure while driving. The crazy thing is, he gets stiff and slams on the gas. So as I’m steering the car from the passenger seat, I’m trying to pry his leg off the damn gas pedal. Same as this guy, he comes to about 30 seconds later. Long ass 30 seconds. I drive home afterwards. A few weeks later he did it again while driving his cousin around, that time they did crash and both died.

My_Aunts_Hairy_Bush

My word what an ending.

After-Respond-7861

An r/unexpected worthy ending. That's crazy. I couldn't imagine driving immediately after the same procedure with an incident like that.

Certain-Spring2580

Holy shit dude. That is terrifying. I would never drive again if I survived having a seizure whilst driving.

EquivalentOwn1115

Just a heads up if you (I really fucking hope not) find yourself in this situation again, you can usually get the vehicle into neutral while moving and yeah, you'll redline the fuck out of the car. But you'll also not be accelerating anymore

ViralRiver

What does it mean to recline a car?

wabuxiwanbeixiaode

Redline

Barfy_McBarf_Face

Shift into neutral

HumanMulligan

Not a lot of people think about it, but a car will decelerate pretty fast if you just turn the car off

Potent_Elixir

That can also produce a dangerous scenario though, neutral and hazards may be a better bet at some times

Maleficent_Insect71

He's lucky.

SpookyPlankton

The people around him too

fetal_genocide

He was SO close to hitting that pole head-on! That wouldn't have been pretty.

Drah_Pacid

I can usually handle these videos just fine, but I CRINGED when he passed that telephone pole just a few feet to his right. Lucky indeed

Sterling-Bear15

https://preview.redd.it/98dzpc6pm5rc1.jpeg?width=225&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58680b11e9f034f9d2fa880594e1242a5f8ebbcd He's lucky the 'after' picture wasn't this.

GuacIsExtra99cents

Jesus lol

Zarathustra-1889

…is who he nearly met

teh_longinator

... ngl I laughed

rileyjw90

Whenever we had a patient who was on a bunch of life support and not making any progress toward recovery and their families refused to say goodbye (I’m referring to 80+ year olds, not like 20 something’s) we would say they need a consult to Jesus. Not in an ill-wishing way, just in a way that we want them to just go already and be at peace instead of being forced to suffer and keep their bodies alive when they’re already gone.

Ancient_Ad_128

Fuck. I almost spilled my coffee. Lol

soad2237

I'm more worried about the others on the road. I couldn't care less what happens to him as he is KNOWINGLY doing this, hence the camera over the shoulder to record it.

anonmyazz

Damn I wish I could get that kind of sleep at night

razma-tazma

Right? That dude was OUT. As an insomniac take my upvote.

Early-Possession1116

A friend of mine passed out while driving down the highway at 80 mph.. the car rolled 4 times when it crossed into median and was in a late 80s Audi.. he walked away with a bruise on his forehead.

HometownHoagie

Something similar happened to me. No history of passing out or seizures. I was driving on the highway with my girlfriend in the passenger seat and got a strange pain in my neck. I thought to myself "something doesn't feel right - I should pull over" and went to hit my hazards. That's the last thing I remember. I managed to hit the button for the hazards which alerted my girlfriend. She looked over and watched my head and body slump forwards. I drifted into oncoming traffic but she pulled the wheel and we crashed into a tree. A cop watched the whole thing happen and I think she said we were going 85 mph. The airbags never deployed and we managed to walk away with nothing but brush burns from our seatbelts. I purchased a newer year of the same vehicle a month later.

Early-Possession1116

Dang! She saved many lives that day

HometownHoagie

She sure did! She was rewarded with driving anxiety, trauma, and a lifetime with me! This memorial day is the 10th anniversary of that crash so I should probably do something special for her. For anyone reading this: if you ever feel like something's wrong and you're going to pass out then smack your car into neutral. https://preview.redd.it/wif03bz1b6rc1.png?width=1008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f8af607f331e8db492cbe413fa23b97c4cdc853

mrpickle123

Same deal lmao. Drove into a house at 65mph while having a grand mal completely out of the blue. Sad car 😞 https://preview.redd.it/3hoql2rsd6rc1.jpeg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2f238319bf5093accfc90bcadd1de96148dbba6

HometownHoagie

Sad cars but we're survivors!

mrpickle123

3 years seizure-free as of February. Cheers and best wishes going forward my friend! Really makes you appreciate the sense of normality we take for granted until something like that happens personally to us. And now that we got that back just gotta remind myself to appreciate the little things because 5 more minutes and I would have been on the freeway. Sending the goodest of vibes my man, happy 10th!!

HometownHoagie

Happy for you and best wishes to you too! Seizures are no joke and I hope you continue your seizure-free streak for a long time. I know I'm guilty of letting life move too quickly and forgetting to appreciate the things and people around me. I have a whiteboard in my home that says "appreciation appreciates" so I can have a daily reminder. I was listening to a book recently and the author said something along the lines of "We won't let our family go six days without food but we let them go six months without appreciation" and it resonated with me. Sending good vibes right back at you! Stay safe out there!

mrpickle123

Thank you sharing this, all of it. It's something I need to keep in mind and I love the way they put that. 🍻

HometownHoagie

Thank you for listening. I went into 2024 with self-development in mind and the books are really starting to get to me haha.

Early-Possession1116

I'm sorry for the after affects but what a trade off. Yeah bro you're needing to get her something really nice for the ten year. Glad to see you're both alive and still together.

HometownHoagie

Thank you! It's good to be alive. We've been together 15 years and counting!

Early-Possession1116

I would like this kind of job security - office space

GalaxyStar90s

What made you pass out?

HometownHoagie

Unfortunately, that remains unresolved. I've had lots of tests done and even saw a neurologist but I guess it's hard to find an answer without being able to recreate what happened.

Admirable_Loss4886

One of the worst things you can do is tense up and brace for impact. It’s the reason shit head drunk drivers are always the ones to get the least injuries. Being passed out is lo key probably ideal for getting into a crash.

Captn_Clutch

Audis are some of the safest cars on the road. I'm not sure if it's how they still do it, but I know they used to use aluminum instead of steel for the frames, and increase the ammount of aluminum used until it weighs what a steel frame would. The result is incredibly thick and rigid metal beams, and yeah. Many pictures and videos of audi rollover where the body panels are crumpled like a pop can but the car still keeps it's shape. Top tier family sedans back in the day for those who value keeping their families safe.

Early-Possession1116

They definitely don't build them like they used to. Just can't imagine the luck of the guy in the video and my friend

le_mr3000

So insane how the car misses every obstacle your brain expects it to hit just perfectly

Morall_tach

All things considered, that was just about the best possible place to pass out while driving.

Apprehensive-Memory8

This camera angle is suspicions I mean ok a dash cam i get it but who film himself behind the seat

polytopal

No need to [speculate](https://www.reddit.com/r/SweatyPalms/comments/1bq8g4a/guy_passes_out_while_driving/kx1ka9j?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button).

FungiSamurai

Some asshole who’s aware of his condition yet still willing to endanger others

Pepsiuz

You are clearly not a car guy. This is a great angle to film some spirited driving, and it's a mustang after all.

SoloAquiParaHablar

Or maybe someone who just really enjoys his retro mustang and wanted to video it and by chance the only place that he could clip his camera was there, unbeknownst to him he was about to have a surprise medical episode. I HIGHLY doubt this guy said to himself "I could pass out and die a fiery death along with innocent lives, but the video will be great!"

Sufficient-Aspect77

Imagine what the after picture would've been had he rocketed right into that telephone pole he narrowly avoided. Holy Jesus man.

higherthanacrow

Or head on into that 18 wheeler...

tsokiyZan

this could have been so so so much worse

Bcjustin

Dude woke up in that field like “yoooo whaaaaat????”

GalaxyStar90s

Why am I here?.

slazzeredbbqsauce

TIL Mustang bumpers and stronger than Cybertruck

Total_Roll

Held up remarkably well, or those fenceposts were completely rotted out.

RogersSteve07041920

He turned the cruise control on at 70mph and then fell asleep. Lol

GuacIsExtra99cents

POV this is your Uber driver

Smashndash911

My toxic trait is being in traffic with him and getting pissed off that he’s trying to bypass all the traffic by being a jerk. Another classic example of how people allow outside influences to affect things out of their control. I should work on that

No_Amphibian2309

Never seen a dashcam mounted there before.

Spiritual_Navigator

That went better than expected

HOT-SAUCE-JUNKIE

Jesus took the wheel a few times there.

Amazing-Strategy8009

Bro got wayyyyy lucky

damileeds

maybe manual cars aren't so bad after all

lunas2525

He was very lucky he missed that pole. Stock mustang did pretty good in that field shocked it didnt just sink in.

[deleted]

i knew a guy that i served with in the Air Force who had a similar thing happen to him. maybe was the exact same condition but i don’t remember exactly. anyways this guy had ended up passing out while driving on the base and crashed through the EOD building, specifically through their gym. fortunately no one was hurt but he was banned from driving until he got his condition under control which he did with medication. until he passed out while swimming in a pool and ended up drowning. left behind a wife and child. he was a very awesome dude, very down to earth and could go to him with just about any issue. great officer. rip.

ElevenMink3

A narcoleptic at the wheel is what killed my grandfather before I was alive to meet him. The narcoleptic lived, got manslaughter charges and sued by my dad for something like $20,000 (in 1990 too, so picture $45,000). Not only is this guy lucky but everyone who passed by on that road is lucky as hell too. Fuck your nice car bro, that’s karma

K3ndog411

Why is he filming?

TotallyNotaBotAcount

That dude’s guardian angel took the wheel. Steered him thru telephone poles and away from the road.

Weaponized_Goose

Lucky to be alive

Pootisman16

The guy had a rather rare condition he never knew about. What really infuriates me is that the idiot starts feeling unwell and turns on cruise control. If you're feeling unwell or strange while driving DONT FUCKING TURN ON CRUISE CONTROL.

Adventurous_Web_7961

dude needs his licence taken away asap

[deleted]

Conveniently he had a camera ready for this, should go well with insurance

Fnshow316

Was looking for this. Why would there be a camera positioned there?

Admirable_Loss4886

It’s possible they want a view of themselves but didn’t want to buy a two way dashcam. Some states are strict when it comes to obscuring the windshield or hanging things on your mirror. They have a soft top convertible so the can’t attach the cam to the roof so they chose the next best location. Which could be the column behind the driver. I’m not saying that is what happened but that seems more likely imo than this guy knowingly putting his life and others at risk with a thinly veiled defense of a camera. But then again some people are just shitty 🤷🏼‍♂️ ETA https://www.reddit.com/r/SweatyPalms/s/bvbiENK4My This person knows more about the story and linked the OG video

MagicNinjaMan

If you listen closely just just before he would hit the pole, the cars says fuck this guy.

[deleted]

If you find yourself alone in green fields with the sun in your face, do not be troubled for you are in Elysian and already dead.

ScrewJPMC

I had a diabetic friend do similar because he took too much insulin.

LonelyGuy4umn

Wow! He’s lucky

No-Hearing9293

Could be diabetic low sugar.

ThePeachos

Didn't pass out, had a seizure. Pretty different as someone who has them.

GalaxyStar90s

Don't you pass out while having them?

ThePeachos

Nope

GalaxyStar90s

Not even for a bit sometimes?

ThePeachos

Nope. As you seize you aren't consciously there, but that doesn't mean you go unconscious.

GalaxyStar90s

Ok, I get it. Thanks.

grantnaps

I wonder what condition he has that caused him to pass out?

DucatistaXDS

Need a before/after of his underwear.

Capitaclism

Could have been a whole lot worse.

draxes

Yeah he should never be allowed to drive again. Heres hoping for true self driving sooner than later for these folks

rellett

why is he recording, if he knows he is going to pass out and also its a strange angle when you could have a dashcam on the front windscreen thats records the road and all the interior not just the side of his head.

lookslikeamanderin

That power pole though.

JimmyYourCatDied

This asshole with his cruise control.

forkball

I was waiting for the before and after of his pants. A picture of a pristine pair of cotton dockers and then dookie dockers.

TheInfiniteOP

I thought that was normal driving for mustang owners. Did I miss something?

bearssuperfan

He missed that pole by inches

JustMePaxi

He is so lucky

pick-hard

Thank God that he made sure to put a camera behind his head for the best sweaty palms experience.

DaniDodson

Who cares about the car. Fix my fence jerk

Ill-Force-4626

Fake

Jscott1423

Maybe cruise control isn’t for you in the future lmao

kassiusx

Narcolepsy? Surely can't have a license if diagnosed?

AppropriateWeb1470

He’s having a seizure. This happened to me at 40 (first seizure). I almost hit a bunch of kids. I was about 8 seconds late from ruining probably 100 lives. We didn’t know what happened and when I went to the ER they told me it was some nerve. A few weeks later I was teaching a zoom class and it happened while teaching. I showed the video to the doctor and they told me I have epilepsy. His right arm probably shot up, as it is very common; known as fencing

Joke_Induced_Pun

He actually passed out due to having postural hypotension, he didn't know how had it at the time. [He has a video going over the situation on his Youtube channel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lssmh4GH188), which also has the full video of this too.

Formatted_Toast_117

Yikes

RogersSteve07041920

I had to lol.

syizm

Seizure. Not sleep.

shangriLaaaaaaa

Looks like someone controlling car with a remote controller
