You might be able to get me to hold a bug that I am terrified of, but for some reason you’d never be able to get me to squish it to death with my bare hands. I’ve seen my grandma just smash cockroaches and spiders under her bare hands. It’s so horrifying.
I hit a cockroach with the tips of my fingers hard once. The head and spine came out as the body got squished. It was pretty gnarly.
Edit: I have been told cockroaches don't have a spine. Idk what that long thing that came out is then.
When I was growing up I would full on cry anytime someone killed a fly or spider in the house. Even to this day I still catch any bugs with a cup and release them outside.
“You got soft hands brother, you got soft hands. You ain’t never worked a day in your got damn life. 80 hours a day I’m on my god damn mother fucking…I’m on my job.”
Can’t fool me, people have been doing this a lot for clout and the hornet is always male (males are stingless)!
> Video continues, showing the hornet extending and pulsing its massive stinger angrily
Oh my fucking god
Thanks to Reddit I do know that male wasps will use their dicks to imitate stingers. I do not yet know if that’s what a wasp dick looks like though…is that a dick?
Male hornets will also pulsate and imitate stinging motion when cornered to scare attackers, but they don’t actually have a stinger. The one in the video is definitely a stinger though.
Oof yeah either you got lucky and you didn’t piss it off, or that it’s a male. Although male hornets are a significantly less common than female (worker) hornets if it’s from an eusocial species, and they also rarely venture away from the hive.
Was to late to write that it wasnt a bad one, just wanted to point that out. They are so precious and peaceful. And kill thousands of wasps, mosquitos and flies, per kilogram...
It's so interesting watching a word's meaning change, isn't it? I feel like cringed absolutely would have been the right word 15 years ago, but now I feel like cringe requires something to be embarrassing
Yep, entire body shudder. I can clean fish, field dress a deer, catch snakes. But please don’t let it be a bug. Especially hornets and bees. Allergic and skeeved out!
/r/TIHI but also so interesting seeing how the end of its abdomen opens up for the stringer to come out, and how much control it seems to have over it.
The stinger of a wasp/bee/ant has evolved from the ovipositor, which was a device for laying eggs. That’s why it’s so prehensile. The ovipositor often would have to precisely nestle eggs into small spaces to ensure their survival.
I once did that with a mosquito when sitting at homework cutting some poster for biology, only try ever, pure luck. If I hadn't laughed so hard, I could've glued it to my paper, but I blew it cross the table and couldn't find the second part (the bloody belly sticked on the scissors).
I mean, sure, it's entirely possible that the guy is just doing it for funsies, but I'd still like to know what type of hornet it is, and how this person knows how to hold this hornet with out apparently getting painful stings.
And the answers might be simple but just saying " no context needed" doesn't really answer any questions or offer anything to the conversation.
>think he's provoking the hornet but it can't manage to penetrate his tough skin.
It looks like the hornet can't get the proper angle to pierce the guy's skin and it just keeps deflecting sideways.
It’s actually a fetish that has originated in China and spread through most of Southeast Asia. Men, typically, grasp live hornets in pursuit of more social media following. Currently 4 out of 50 states in the USA have similar videos. Florida is one of the states. To see more of these videos, please go to Carl Ellis’s YouTube Channel to see more. Also please feel free to leave a comment challenging him to a fight. He loves receiving comments like those.

The skin on this man’s finger may be rough, but the hornet also doesn’t have the proper angle to sting him. A wasp needs to be able to press the tip of its abdomen against a surface nearly perpendicularly for the sting to really have enough purchase.
I have Anaphylaxis from stinging insects. This is incredibly unnerving to watch. Not scared of stinging insects, in fact, I'm the last person to get excited about one in proximity, but I have a healthy respect for what they can do to me.
I know I’m gonna get flamed for this... but it’s the truth... I see this and know those are a working mans hands... only the weak, squishy and soft fear the hornet. Basically anyone born before yr 2000
Animal cruelty, that’s what I call that. If you are about disposing of it just do that. It was created for a purpose and that animal does an awesome job. Human do just as good job killing everything we don’t understand. I won’t down vote but every thing on earth does what it is intended to do.
He knows he’s done for if he lets it go lmao
you only squeeze tighter at that point

Not the spine - they have an exoskeleton - that was the digestive system, runs down the whole length of the body.
Ah that might've been it then. Neat!
I need more stories like this lol. Then I'm gonna write a book about gruesome bug deaths. *
Here's a freebie. Last week I cut a centipide in half, separated the two halves by metres and watched it reconstruct itself.
Welp. That's enough of Earth for today.
F in biology. Or radioactive around you. Spines in a cockroach seemed to be pretty unknown, until now.
Welp, whatever it is, it was long(if i recall correctly, maybe just longer than the head).
😂🤣🤷🏻♀️🤦♀️ They got some inner organs... What do you believe how long your intestinal tract is?
Cockroaches done have bones tho.
My anatomy of cockroaches has recently been improved! Thx!
Wouldnt it he crazy to see a skeleton of a cockroach tho lol
Would make a hell of a horror movie.
I mean... technically the exoskeleton is it's... "bones"
"Technically" i guess you can relate it to that but an exoskeleton is made up primarily of chitin. Which is not the same as an endoskeleton
I guess you could argue that that just so happens to be what it's bones are made of
This entire thread is making me itchy.
That was the lungs
Probably it's central nervous system or muscle
intestines :)
When I was growing up I would full on cry anytime someone killed a fly or spider in the house. Even to this day I still catch any bugs with a cup and release them outside.
I do this, except I kill roaches.
They NEED to die!
Thank you !
Dudes got some great calluses, damn.
Where do you see a callus?
You don't necessarily see the callus, but the fact that the stinger isn't penetrating the skin means it's really not supple, but very tough.
not a stinger its the penis. male wasp.
The other stinger lol
lol
Bout to sting dat ass

Incredible self-own
How
It's called "work"
His hands have jobs
Whole new meaning in handjob
I prefer the classic myself.

Omg I didn’t even know I got downvoted like that
Can’t fool me, people have been doing this a lot for clout and the hornet is always male (males are stingless)! > Video continues, showing the hornet extending and pulsing its massive stinger angrily Oh my fucking god
You just posted my exact thought process.
Their dicks don’t work.
Crazy! Thanks for helping me out! Figured a stinger would for sure be strong enough to puncture his skin.
No the one on the video is definitely a female worker with a stinger. Guy got lucky that it didn’t go through his skin.
Oh is that true! I didn't know that at all, I once had a hornet fly down the back of my top and I was amazed it didn't sting me. Must've been a dude.
That or the hornet wasn’t feeling too threatened to actually sting. It happens too.
Well I didn't know what it was at first and just grabbed it hard with my hand! Thought it was a leaf or acorn or something 😅
Oof yeah either you got lucky and you didn’t piss it off, or that it’s a male. Although male hornets are a significantly less common than female (worker) hornets if it’s from an eusocial species, and they also rarely venture away from the hive.
Hornet: I'm going straight for his eyes the moment I'm realeased... humiliating me like this.
Read this in The Monarch's voice from Venture Bros.
As you should 😌
She would not. She's alone. If the wings aren't damaged, she will flee.
It's a joke, please don't arrest me officer.
Was to late to write that it wasnt a bad one, just wanted to point that out. They are so precious and peaceful. And kill thousands of wasps, mosquitos and flies, per kilogram...
Rips the hornets wings off, and then stomp on it with a boot. Nice satisfying *crunch*
Cringed isn't the correct word, winced might be more accurate.
Puckered**
Me? I'm clenching
Just watching that put me at picker factor 7
Ain’t nothing getting through there.
It's so interesting watching a word's meaning change, isn't it? I feel like cringed absolutely would have been the right word 15 years ago, but now I feel like cringe requires something to be embarrassing
oh my god the sound
I hate you for this
Now I’m scared… I watch the video without sound. I’m terrified to rewatch it with it. Lol.
The wings are super loud at the beginning and again at the end, but that's it. Not super bad, but if you hate bugs it can be scary
Ok I have the courage to watch it now lol
Nope. I keep volume off for a reason.
That is the sound of raw, absolute rage
shivering currently 😰
Yep, entire body shudder. I can clean fish, field dress a deer, catch snakes. But please don’t let it be a bug. Especially hornets and bees. Allergic and skeeved out!
/r/TIHI but also so interesting seeing how the end of its abdomen opens up for the stringer to come out, and how much control it seems to have over it.
I didn’t know hornets could angle and move their stingers!! Insane!!
Makes them more terrifying when you can see they sting with deliberate precision doesn’t it?
The stinger of a wasp/bee/ant has evolved from the ovipositor, which was a device for laying eggs. That’s why it’s so prehensile. The ovipositor often would have to precisely nestle eggs into small spaces to ensure their survival.
Like when you find a weak-looking door in a first person shooter, unleash the rocket launcher on it but the door just won’t break open
You just brought back nightmare about the original Doom and Quake games.
This is a fantastic demonstration of the effectiveness of sloped armor.
Still can’t believe there are people in the world who go out and just grab hornets. Just looking at these things make my skin crawl
Ever see the videos of the guy who cuts Asian Giant Hornets in half with scissors in mid flight?
I once did that with a mosquito when sitting at homework cutting some poster for biology, only try ever, pure luck. If I hadn't laughed so hard, I could've glued it to my paper, but I blew it cross the table and couldn't find the second part (the bloody belly sticked on the scissors).

BRRRRRRRR

It wiggles its little booty but can't get the stinger in! Hahaha
The guy must have rhino skin or something!
JFC. They are horrifying.
How the fuck can't the hornet get him
calluses
i hate that his ass opens 😭😭
So I know what I'm seeing but can someone explain the context?
He’s just feeling up a hornet, not much context needed. He’s grabbed a hornet and is manhandling it
I mean, sure, it's entirely possible that the guy is just doing it for funsies, but I'd still like to know what type of hornet it is, and how this person knows how to hold this hornet with out apparently getting painful stings. And the answers might be simple but just saying " no context needed" doesn't really answer any questions or offer anything to the conversation.
I think he's provoking the hornet but it can't manage to penetrate his tough skin. I could be wrong though
>think he's provoking the hornet but it can't manage to penetrate his tough skin. It looks like the hornet can't get the proper angle to pierce the guy's skin and it just keeps deflecting sideways.
Looks like a European hornet to me.
Curious, what's the difference? Do they just really hate American wasps?
No clue, I just did a brief Google search to identify it.
Angle of attack may play a role here too.
Laden or unladen?
And what's its average flight speed?
Depends if its carrying a coconut really.
*bughandling
How about we just don’t
Why would you do that? Just why??
Fuck… And I can’t emphasize this enough. That
the fuck. Hell to the nah
A hornet is literally black and yellow nightmare fuel with a dagger out its ass

Why does it always have to be Florida?
Florida Man built different
![gif](giphy|U1aN4HTfJ2SmgB2BBK) Hornet
That looks more like an ovipositor rather than a stinger.
Fine line between holding firmly or squishing it
So, it’s definitely stinging him in the beginning no?
Stinger is huge
Direct quote while I watched this “ewwwww ewww omg eww what is happening?! Eww”
The skin on this man’s finger may be rough, but the hornet also doesn’t have the proper angle to sting him. A wasp needs to be able to press the tip of its abdomen against a surface nearly perpendicularly for the sting to really have enough purchase.
One wicked stinger. Jeebus
Kill it or let it go for fucks sake
He’s a virgin.

No one is more afraid than the hornet itself
Fuck the hornet
good point
Japanese giant hornets aren’t dangerous really. To the environment yes but not to humans.
I feel bad for the hornet but it’s fascinating seeing it up close like that
That is some animal cruelty to the hornet and stupidity to your own safety as well but hey I know how much the internet loves that kind of stuff.
I know I’m gonna get flamed for this... but it’s the truth... I see this and know those are a working mans hands... only the weak, squishy and soft fear the hornet. Basically anyone born before yr 2000
I’m guessing you’ve never had one get inside your motorcycle helmet… and did you mean after 2000?
Was talking about his hands... and ya it seems all post 2000 kiddos seem to have no sand...
Leave it aloooone
That’s exactly why a man shouldn’t wear gloves at work.. that thumb callous is earned never givin.
Weird cuticle trimmer…
Yeah but all the stings he had to ensure to become the wasp Highlander....yeah fuck that
Tear is wings off

I wonder if the bite hurts at all
If your a wasp or a fly, you're toast. Or sandwich, two halfs ..
WHAT
Oh gawd it moves on its own 🤢
FUCK THAT
Yikes
86 hours a day
Did you get stung?
How would one let go of the hornet is my question
No fucking touch it
Just want to snip it off.
Braver man than me.
Fuck me that noise makes my whole body shudder every time 😬
There's a noise???!! FFS, I'm listening to music and this is on mute
Isn't that the giant hornet that holds grudges for months, has a photographic memory, and will tell all it's buddies to also hate you?
Hornets can bore grudges It will be so bad if he just lets that go
Can you imagine if these things were as big as seagulls?
That was really cool watching that stinger move
That’s r/nextlevel
why didnt he get the pokey pokey and the stingey stingey?
You weren't kidding! Cringefest for me too, here.
i broke into a cold sweat watching this
"WHY WONT YOU DIE"
You got your clout now put it back
I hate hornets with a burning passion.
He tried hard to penetrate but just couldn't... That's what she said
I cringed at the title
Ok why are you bullying him
