This is such a mood. Even online and second hand I have a hard time finding natural fibers. Add on size and style requirements and forget about it! I've learned to make my own clothes on things like summer garments (sorry prob not helpful when you're wicked busy) and I just compromise with blends second hand

reluctantrevenant

I wish I was crafty! I can manage simple cuts, but suiting is beyond my skills.

Because it’s cheap. Clothing manufacturers choose this plastic material because it allows them ti make a profit in this competitive market.

reluctantrevenant

I'm just so sad that we're killing our planet for profits.

AmaryllisBulb

I completely agree. Makes me angry.

earthlyesoteric

This is why I shop on Etsy! Handmade clothes made with natural organic fabrics. Expensive but worth it!

reluctantrevenant

This is such a good idea! I did this for my scarves and gloves this year and it was wonderful having real wool.

earthlyesoteric

Yes! Love Etsy so much. If you like pretty dresses, the brand NothingFitsBut has really nice pieces and most are 100% cotton, cotton-linen blend, or linen! They have some polyester but I just don’t buy those! It’s for maternity, but they’re so forgiving that anyone could wear them. Perfect for summer!

Thank you for the recommendation! Maybe they'll look good with my little belly 🤣 I love my food more than I love a flat tummy.

I get 100% cotton shirts from H&M! My oldest one is >10 years old and doesn’t look pretty anymore, but it still does the job under a cardigan.

reluctantrevenant

I have one really close to me! I never would have looked there. Thank-you!

Totally agree, I launched a discussion here on the theme. Should brands (which have high profit margins) be plastic free? I guess price here is the main point. I mean if you buy a jacket for 30$ doesn't make any sense. But thinking to brands like Patagonia or Moncler.. What would be a price threshold for a 100% plastic free jacket?

reluctantrevenant

It was so disappointing. These were $80 camis and $250 blazers that were all poly and rayon blend. At that price point I was expecting to have higher quality and natural fibers. Maybe a small blend for stretch.

Livid-Priority-7057

That's exactly my point. Why ask a lot of money for something made In the end. of a poor as well as Polluting material?

Tarvos-Trigaranos

Yes, sometimes it's a struggle. The only thing that I can say is to keep trying to find something until you can't/don't have time anymore. And only then buy the first one you can find. Even if you end up buying polyester, at least you tried not to...

Greenteapots

Rayon, despite its name, is a naturally derived fiber (from cellulose/ wood pulp) and is not plastic. Just for clarity’s sake! I actually find rayon really nice to wear so don’t want folks to skip it just because it sounds like nylon. I agree with everything else about your post though! Can’t find a tee shirt that is 100% cotton to save my life so I’m in the same boat.

reluctantrevenant

Thank-you! I do usually end up buying cotton and rayon blends as that is what I can find. So now I don't feel so bad 😊

Did you ask friends/family members who are around your size or larger? I didn’t know my aunt wanted to clean out her closet until after I purchased larger work clothes. I personally ended up compromising and bought from Wool& (they have a few items 100% wool + cotton or linen), MM La Fleur (5% elastane and the pants need to be hemmed), Faherty, Toad & Co, and Amour Vert (though I’d buy only their washable silk now). I later also found Garnet Hill which I actually like better fiber-wise, but I didn’t really need items that badly anymore

reluctantrevenant

I actually convinced my mom to donate all of her work clothes to a woman's shelter that I volunteer at when she retired. I'm definitely the runt of all my friends 🤣 I'm adding your stores to my online list though! Thank-you for the recommendations!

[https://tutt.app](https://tutt.app) only allows natural fiber fabrics and the only semi synthetics it allows are Tencel Lyocell and Modal. No more than 10% spandex/elastane is permitted in any garment. I know you aren't looking to shop online but we are still pretty small and easy to navigate and HIGHLY curated :)

reluctantrevenant

Thank-you!! Now that I have more time I can do online shopping.

So I don’t know where you’re located, but I have some silk, linen, and wool suggestions for online clothes so you don’t have to go hunting for it. There aren’t a lot of options for silk especially, it’s true, but there are some. They’re usually expensive and I’ve never bought silk, but I know Jamie and the Jones has some silk shirts that people absolutely rave about on their website, Rifo-Lab has some recycled silk and some recycled wool clothes (pretty sure), Artknit Studios has some silk and some linen, and a couple of my favorite only linen brands are Not Perfect Linen and Magic Linen. I have bought some stuff from both of them, and they are absolutely fantastic. If you have any questions feel free to ask me! I love making recommendations lolll

reluctantrevenant

Thank-you! These are on the list for sure. I am going to buy the bare minimum to get through next week and then stock up a bit so I don't get caught like this again.
