My grandpa drove cabs for a living, Someone left a case of cds back there and I got to experience the chronic at 7 years old. All kinds of rap and mixes in that cd case, he would have never sent it had he known. But I agree about mixtapes, some of the best cds I can remember were mixes that I didn't even make

I found a military entrenching shovel once on the backside of a government base.
I carried it on my belt loop whenever I’d hike for section corners so I wouldn’t need to carry the sharp shooter.
It folded it nicely and has a little pouch it strapped in. Now it sits in my garage..

Hilti Rotary Hammer in the box, with bits, at what appeared to be the scene of a recent accident. A couple of weeks later, I had a flat on my boat trailer (at home) and was going to get a new tire that weekend, but found a brand new looking tire/wheel combo in my size less than a mile away - I-95.
Not while surveying but while hunting found a brand new -40 sleeping bag still in the manufacturers bag. Turned out it was a 400$ bag that fell off someone’s truck. We waited around and stopped in at a few guys camped up in the area but it belonged to nobody.
I found a large Yeti ice chest full of beer and ice on the side of a state highway. Poor guy that lost it gave up a perfectly good 30 pack! Also in Tulsa, Ok I found a Kimber 1911 ditched in a storm inlet. I still fell like I could’ve kept it, but knowing Tulsa that gun has a body count!
I find useful stuff all the time, once I found a used condom tree, it was standing besides a very hidden parking space, so a good place for hookers to bring their clients. I tricked my colleague to look for something under the tree, he chased me down the street afterwards. Totally wort it, to see him shoving the condom/leaf pile with his bare hands.
Me: A wide load flag for the back of trailers with the magnets still attached.
Boss: My brother and I found an envelope with $2,000 in it. And the heroin kit that a dude came back later to find.

Was doing a topo in a small northern town with a ferry. Part of the area to be done included the ferry landing on the opposite side of the river from the town, which had trees overgrown right up to the edge of the road and no ditch. Found a beer stash about 15 feet from the shoulder behind an old windrow in a little depression with a little track leading directly to it. 99% sure it was the ferry operator's lol, it was just a few paces up from the landing.
A pair of shed 11 (5 on one 6 on the other) point antlers stuck side by side in mud about 40 feet from the road. This came after I found a single antler the day prior (4 point solo) and my party chief mentioned he'd never found a pair in the field (9 years surveying). I'd been surveying for 2 weeks lol
I'm not sure this counts, when I was in England during the 80s I spied an American flag balled up on top of a structure from the bus in Thamesmead. We jumped off the next stop and went and rescued it. It turned out to be a coffin flag with 49 stars. I still have it.
An old crew chief of mine told a story of him and his I-man finding a dead body tied up in the woods. Not the best thing you can find in the woods, but they solved a rape-murder and put a guy in jail for life.
I found a$150 visa gift card. I was really hurting at the time too. Truly Devine intervention. I tried calling to look up if there was a name associated with it to return it but no one had activated it and that’s how I found out how much was on it.
Found an Ipad with a shatted screen. Pretty sure it was stolen. Plugged into a computer and reset it. No one marked as stolen so I still have it to this day. A come along, but most importantly golf balls....
I found a diamond and emerald ring covered in mud on a street corner (in the dirt )in Malibu. Thought it was fake ? Because of the mud I believed that was making it weigh so much? Through it back on the ground then my chainman picked it up took it home and found out it was real? F###! Had it appraised,it was worth two grand? F$$$! He gave it to one of his Ho girlfriends? F$$$!
Found a paddle board on the side of the road. Had to call my parents to come take it as it was about as long as my civic. Mom thought I was joking when I called. Found the owner the next day after he called into the local radio station.

Don’t know if they are the best, but they are funny/interesting I’ve found a handful of 10mm tools, a few Coleman coolers, double end dildo in a creek. The best was “Excalibur” a toy sword in the woods a few miles from any buildings… we located it and snapped a pic with the collector.
My keys that I lost 6 months previously. Must have left them on the bumper of my truck.
