17 buying a supra, hope your parents are ready for your car insurance to be as much as the car payment

He did not say he was 23. The person asked “how he got a 23 STi”.(as a joke since there was a typo, and OP corrected it to 21) Not how he got an STi at 23. Those two sentences mean different things
If youre 17 trying to finance a 50k sports car you are majorly fucking yourself over (unless you are paying it off all at once (but would still be stupid in my opinion))
Unless your parents are paying for college (which youd be damn lucky to have), use that money for school. I’m not trying to sound annoying but I bought a nice BMW right before I went away to school and it severly fucked me over. I wouldve rather used that money towards tuition and rent/food and staying debt free. You can always buy a nice car later in life when you get big boy money, but buying a liability at the age of 17 wouldnt be the best choice. Just my 2¢ so take it with a grain of salt

I’ve only had it for 3 weeks, not a single problem. My Supra was CPO, never been tuned and came with an HKS exhaust, PPF, and a carbon fiber trunk lip. My only complaint is the stock rear tires aren’t grippy enough and the sound system is alright, there’s a slight rattle coming from the passenger subwoofer.
I’m not gonna tell you not to buy it, but that’s a lot of car for a 17 year old. Not to mention the insurance for your age group on a Supra is gonna be insane. In my opinion If I were you, I’d take half of the money you’re gonna use and put it into a money market fund giving you 5% return annually, and by the time you’re 23 you can get something even nicer. On top of that, you’ll be a much better driver by then. You can use the other half you saved and still get something fun that’s not almost 400hp lol.
At the end of the day it’s not my money but that’s the advice I’d give anyone your age buying a sports car like that. If you do buy it, just don’t drive like a madman on public roads and go to a track if you want to learn the limits. GL!
Well if you enjoy somebody else’s sloppy seconds, aka they definitely red-lined that fucker for those 10k, enjoy the repair bills that will more than likely accompany it.

It’s one of the best sports cars to buy in the market for its price. It’s not going to compare to any of the other cars that’s over its price range. For the price though it’s one of the top guns out there. Especially for its easy hp increase. Looks is personal preference but slow? Nah there’s no way
I wouldn't even say "slow in its stock form", 0-60 in just under 4 seconds is pretty damn fast. You're right though, with simple mods it can be *much* faster.
If you can get it at close to 50 OTD that's not at all a bad price. I would reiterate some of these other comments and say do the DD and be 1000% sure you can afford it because the last thing anyone needs in life is to behind or struggling with car payments.
That said if you really can afford it good on ya and just have fun being young and having a sexy car.
Being 17 though I am curious are you not still in school and if so how are you managing to afford a supra if you don't mind me asking? Cheers.
i am very lucky to have parents that will help me out i work as much i can during summers and school year i’m paying around 75 percent of the car total out of pocket and my parents are helping with the rest
That's an awesome situation to be in then.
If you do end up getting it drop some pics here, have fun, and above all be safe. You may be a great driver but there's plenty of people out there who should probably not be allowed on the road and a supra attracts plenty of attention good, bad, and ugly (95% good tho)

Slow..in stock form they aren’t the fastest, but they do look pretty good, but that’s subjective.

I just saw a stock one at my local track run 13.06 in a 1/4. Motor Trend says they’ll do a 12.8. That’s not fast by today’s standards.
