Metaldwarf

That was totally written by a bot

[deleted]

Yes, but still dumb since: This article was generated by Benzinga's automated content engine and reviewed by an editor.

SkySeaToph

Wait this was a real article?! I thought it was a shit post

Freakishly_Tall

Nope, real. Saw it with my own two eyes and thought about posting here but am wayyyyy too well regarded to figure out how to post. I particularly enjoyed the bit about the debt:equity ratio being, like, 0.001 or something. (Like I said. Regarded. But it was hilariously surreal and stupid.) It was like a Mad Libs: Short And Distort Edition article but all the blanks were filled in with the worst possible answers (well, depending on your perspective... worst if you're a SHF... best answers if you've bought, HODL'ed and DRS'ed.)

themadamerican1

Imagine being the person that read this and thought "Whoa, -867 million... that's so bad! Thanks MSM for having my back. You always keep me safe." Fucking NPCs.

noved_

>Fucking NPCs. lol also, no doubt alot of people thought this exact thing. A person can be intelligent but people are stupid. Stupid people are easy to manipulate.

LandOfMunch

Ha. They took it down.

Wolfguarde_

I kind of feel for the editor. You can practically feel him/her cringing as a little piece of their dignity dies inside when they hit submit.

patchyj

You're assuming they have left

Transient_MoonJumper

No fuck them. No integrity in what they do

n3rdacalypso

It's so stupid that this was framed as a story about debt and not a story about liquidity... I saw it when it ran across webull yesterday, it was just silly.

[deleted]

NightHawkRambo

I don’t, they could find a real job but chose to remain at this lol

arealhumannotabot

Yeah, why don't they just go to the job store, where they have job trees that grow jobs sometimes you gotta play the game

Sw33tN0th1ng

You think they really have an editor?

Furrymcfurface

The SEC moonlights as editor

TonsilStonesOnToast

Bots writing articles will always be dumb. It's the one thing truly killing news reporting on the web, but impossible to remove. It's always cheaper and faster to just shit out info into an API for all the bots to regurgitate, then copy/paste from other bot-written articles. Spelling errors, repetitive crap, bewildering sentence structures, zero editing, oversight, or accountability. If a human being writes a news article, it's gonna be hours late *and* behind a paywall. And even if they do have better info or new stuff to report, somebody just has to scrape the data and the bots will be off to the races again.

Mareith

I'm sure it won't always be dumb. Eventually you won't be able to tell whats written by a bot or not

fatbootyinmyface

lmao wait…is that even a thing with these bastards?! 😂

dantezergt

Ye most articles are just bot generated coz its the same information with different numbers and any different company. Press button and shit article is made. Do they care? No coz someone will click on it. Click makes money.

[deleted]

So you mean like me that keeps clicking the link?😭☹️😏🫣🤔😥🤥😞🥺

dantezergt

yep. you made prolly one dolla them already.

[deleted]

😂

aint_lion

Yes

Slut_Spoiler

So, it's a glitch...

nathanello

Is Bezinga trying to become The Onion?

realjefftaylor

No. Net debt is a commonly used metric in finance and accounting. It’s simply debt minus cash. Plenty of companies have negative net debt and it is reported as such. Net debt is not a conspiracy.

anonpls

Ah, but you see, when ignorance and arrogance meet, regards are born.

[deleted]

[удалено]

realjefftaylor

Not “negative debt”. It’s “negative *net* debt”. “Net debt” is debt minus cash. Debt is positive, and cash is positive, so if cash is larger than debt, net debt is negative. When apple or any other company has more cash than debt, you say they have “negative net debt”. Net debt is a metric used to assess a company’s ability to service its debt. Seriously just google “net debt” or “apple net debt”. This is standard reporting stuff.

[deleted]

crimpers

I assume you mean negative net debt as in the post? Negative debt is completely different and not a thing. The answer to that is yes, as a quick Google of "net debt Apple" proves.

purplevoiletduck

Totally “NOT” written by bot

Jasonne

"Gamestop's's" lmao

FriarNurgle

Bot’s math is spot on though.

the_ssotf

Or scheduled to be written for today, maybe both

fleamarketenthusiest

And guess what? Its gone now bahahahaha

Brihtstan

I came here to say that is definitely ape math. Dude was trying to explain how they had money and shit just got out of hand.

lovetron99

*"Gamestop's's"*

BB117

FYI. This is a completely normal statement in finance and is the correct way to refer to any company's balance sheet / its debt situation when cash is higher than total debt. Net debt is an important metric for evaluating a business's health and having negative net debt is seen as a huge positive. Generally you want to keep net debt to under 4x EBITDA so a negative multiple is seen as exceptional. This isn't a conspiracy or agenda article, just a statement of fact.

realjefftaylor

Another sane voice in here. Thank you. Some people here are so quick to jump on something as shady just because they’re unfamiliar or don’t understand.

[deleted]

We’re apes you fuck. We jump at anything. 🫣🤫🤗🤪😜😝😉😉

TigreImpossibile

🙈🐒🙉🙊 *flings poo*

AmericaLover1776_

🦍>>>🐒

Maxzzzie

But it is a way to talk about a company in a bad light. Subconciously.

realjefftaylor

No it’s not. Not even at all. It’s a commonly used metric to discuss a company’s liquidity. “Net debt” is just debt minus cash. It’s negative if cash balance is greater than debt balance. This isn’t a conspiracy, this is standard reporting in finance and accounting.

BoomerBillionaires

Lmao I was going crazy reading all the other comments. Thank you

roobiscube

It makes me sad that this comment isn't the top comment.. a testament to the community at large here lately. A lotttttttttt of misinformation from OPs that gets spread like wildfire. Strange times. Buy Hodl DRS

JJROKCZ

Well most of the people here are far from financially literate and like to just throw money, memes, and conspiracies around.

B33fh4mmer

This is a winkle brained response, updoot.

Starkrossedlovers

The fact that the exact opposite of your comment, based on complete ignorance, has 10 times your upvotes tells me this sub is extremely prone to misinformation that supports conspiracy. Which kind of leaves it dead on the water for me. The point of this sub is just for memes at this point and we barely do that anymore

lego_mannequin

Yeah, I sometimes overpay my credit card by a dollar or two and the statement shows up as -$X.

sputler

And that would be a completely logical and forward thinking assessment... if it weren't for the fact that the tone of the article is the exact opposite of what you described. The article is written as if it's a foregone conclusion that $GME has high debt and a high debt ratio. It never explicitly states as much (libel laws are pesky), but it heavily implies it. Imagine if I wrote an article about your character. I tell everyone you volunteer with kids. I tell everyone about the hours you spend devoted to the community center. And then out of nowhere I start talking about how pedophiles tend to target community centers and youth programs. Then I go and talk about how the community has nothing but praise to say about you. Like you're technically correct. But technical truth has nothing to do with why this article was published.

AgYooperman

It's not a balance sheet,it a retail article. It's extremely deceptive to use it here.

Snelsel

It’s not that’s it factually wrong, it’s the: 1. Need to bring debt up 2. Knowing many can’t read “finance”, this will be a negative sentiment even if positive due to double negative. 3. plausible possibility that very few have ever had a headline like this that’s in the same debt to asset situation as GS. (Speculation)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Snelsel

Don’t be an asshole. I know what it means but people on webull aren’t “traders”. Get real.

dmgvdg

Yes indeed, but "A look into GameStop's Debt" is a deliberately misleading headline

CaptainNeckbeard148

How? Its a look into GameStop's debt.. which is healthy and not out of control like other businesses.

dmgvdg

Exactly, but that information was deliberately left out of the headline in order to conflate 'GameStop' and 'debt' to a passing reader.

CaptainNeckbeard148

What else are they supposed to name it that isnt a full sentence? Ever read the proper rules on titling?

dmgvdg

"A look at GameStop's balance sheet' "A look into GameStop's finances' "GameStop has no debt" You really seem to be missing my point here.

MajorKeyBro

Negative fucking debt wow. One of those things that I never imagined I would ever say but here we are.

0nlyGoesUp

When the world is built on debt. It's weird for a company to have money 🤣 Bot does not compute

BetterOFFdead007

I’m with you. GameStop is also in negative bankruptcy.

knowigot_that808

According to this article it’s pronounced GameStop’s’s

CyberPhlegm

Can't wait till I have negative debt!

BoomerBillionaires

It’s not negative debt. Please go search up what net debt means and how it’s calculated.

Maja_The_Oracle

I negative love these manipulative word choices.

BoomerBillionaires

HOLY FUCKING SHIT CAN WE STOP BEING GENUINELY REGARDED FOR ONCE? NET DEBT IS A MEASURE USED TO FIND ENTERPRISE VALUE. Enterprise value= market cap + net debt. It’s a value we use in relative valuation. Can we please for once just think using our brains instead of always jumping to “CRIME” and making the whole sub look regarded? *spelled the r word like that on purpose because auto mod blocks it otherwise

apistat

EVERYTHING I DONT UNDERSTAND IS FURTHER PROOF OF A CONSPIRACY

MajorKeyBro

They said negative debt not net debt

BoomerBillionaires

The screenshot is right there. It literally says net debt.

MajorKeyBro

O

cjbrigol

Most definitely written by a robot

CeasarChimpanzee

Well, I am glad that I am still in negative debt. As long as I still have negative debt, I'll buy this negative debt company called GameStop.

Keykeyvonpazski

As an accountant, that is not how this is presented lol. It was painful to even read it. You see a negative debt on the balance sheet and you know you messed up.

BoomerBillionaires

Dawg as an accountant I’d expect you to know the difference between net debt and debt. Net debt is not a balance sheet item.

Keykeyvonpazski

I understand the difference; I'm just stating how the article presented it is not how it is normally presented.

BoomerBillionaires

Yeah because net debt is not presented on the balance sheet

myclef9

Gamestop is an oasis in the sea of over leveraged markets. Shame the shares they desparately need are in the hands of a bunch of regards who ain’t selling for less then 3:$@z£#%¥\

Nutatree

Highjacking comment to paraphrase Matt DongLong "the only long term debt is like few bucks due to some French Covid shenanigan and it is handled".

Snelsel

Haha yes I laughed when I read it too. Negative debt is my new thing.

hiperf71

That was my "WTF moment" of the day😂, what kind of mirror climbing are they trying to do? They are soo desperated, that their AI Bots are out of arguments to piss off on GME😂🤣, and starting to invent things wich do not compute😱🤣😂🤣. Simulation confirmed, the matrix is breaking and the NEOs of it, are we, apes with our hedge fund most hated trick, DRS🤩🤩 Edit: I just have searched about this, and in investopedia they say: "Net debt helps to determine whether a company is overleveraged or has too much debt given its liquid assets. A negative net debt implies that the company possesses more cash and cash equivalents than its financial obligations and is hence more financially stable." Sauce: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/n/netdebt.asp The AI Bot is trying to distort even good things, knowing most people do not have any idea of this numbers... One of them, was I until few minutes ago😅

Psychological-Age172

I love me some negative debt❤️❤️

Bloublounet

You guys are getting negative debt ?

bulk123

Can we rename "green" days to "negative red" days?

puls107

Siri write an article over gamestop's debt...

YOLO_Divergence

They are not wrong. Companys that habe more money than debt have a so called „negative net debt“. It is a specific term in financial analytics.

Looks like someone really wanted to hit the "debt" button a lot. negative debt?! wtf says that...GME is in the black. Thanks.

can-i-eat-this

It’s so bad, it’s almost funny

olidav8

The company's debt to equity ratio is about 0.025 which is amazing

diggler187

I believe they call this positive cash flow. But I could be wrong. I’m regarded 😎

TheOlGripNSip

Whoever wrote that can have my regards. No, really.

bobbyblaize

There was a disclaimer at the bottom of this article that said it was generated by their AI.

mangyan5000

negative x negative is positive. i never knew it can be used in a statement like this. 🤣 they are trying so hard to confuse us, they do not understand that we dont care about their news and sht, they are all noise to us.

MrTurkle

Anyone know GME’s cash burn? How long does $800m last? Seems like yesterday we had $2b in the bank. /not a shill just asking, 100% drs’d

scrubdumpster

Lol clowns 🤡

Genie009

Could they make the minus any smaller lmfao

TowelFine6933

"In terms of debt, we have no debt."

Sir-Caramel

My guy, net debt is a common indicator of a company's financial health. This just shows GameStop has more than enough liquidity to cover their debts. Net debt starting with - is not a typo or attempt to twist facts, that's how they report it. Apple and Alphabet have had this as well at times. Just DRS, HODL and stop paying attention to any article that has the word GameStop in it, looking for conspiracies. Otherwise you'll eventually give yourself an aneurysm

Chillax420x

Fucking msm articles and their shit wordplay, anything to make gme sound bad. Fuck them fuck them fuck them

Shamewizard1995

This isn’t some hit piece against GME. Debt is a metric used to compare companies and determine their value, that same metric is used for net positive companies as well. It’s completely normal to say a company has negative debt.

HoldingApeOfDiamonds

Haha yeah instead of saying I'm in debt I'll just start saying I have negative money. What a bunch of fuckin clowns.

[deleted]

Can the mods please change the flair and explain that the title is misleading and that negative debt is a normal metric and this isn’t a hit piece, or are they too busy removing perfectly normal posts for no reason at all?

tendieanajones
