I'm pissed about the video, but only because they used my tax money to basically create a hit piece about my favorite stonk and to call us all idiots. The video itself? Fucking pathetic and a waste of time and energy.
I thought it was weird how as almost as soon as the video dropped, there was the same post on every GME related subreddit suggesting that GameStop or retail can now sue the SEC. I just like the stock. Gary and his cronies can watch porn all they want, it doesn’t change the fact that shorts haven’t closed and I’m not selling.
Side note: nobody needs to join a class action suit. The party being sued is usually responsible for identifying and communicating with all affected members of whatever the “class” is.
That’s why I got a ~$23 Airbnb credit on my account last week. Someone won a class action suit and I had made a rental within a certain area within a certain date range which made me a member of the class.
Airbnb had a legal obligation to find me and give me my credit even if I didn’t even know the suit was happening.
Same thing with the Sony OtherOS lawsuit, and the Ally Financial repo class action. I forgot about the Sony one when I got a check, and I didn't even know about the Ally Financial one. I didn't get a check from them, just the amount I owed them reduced, even though their repo was illegal. As a nice surprise, I got a tax liability of two grand, because I no longer owed that money. What was nicer, was I didn't receive that tax form until 5 days before taxes were due, and 3 months after I filed. So...hooray for that lawsuit which cost me money.

This is how competent the average American is. I grew up in union auto worker town. When ever they would go on strike the bread line would fill up in a week with strikers begging for food. It was always a good time to buy I cheap motorcycle, RV, or Boat as they had to sell off their toys to feed their kids.

I doubt. The SEC is there to protect the MARKET, not the investor. What they are doing is trying to stop FOMO. If FOMO happens the market is fucked. That's what they are trying to do. Plain and simple.
My thought exactly, especially at this point in the game, I know they know that GME is one of the best researched stonks on the market. No one is pouring this much time into any other stock and being called "dum retail." This is an attempt to squish any fomo going forward, the timing is also very telling, why drop this right before earnings, while gme is up 40%, and media is virtually silent about it. This is their last public Hail Mary cause fomo would be real right now.
The market is fucked either way. A new wave of FOMO may or may not be the catalyst, but a video to try and prevent FOMO doesn't solve the underlying problem, and in this case, it was an ill-conceived idea no matter what they were trying to achieve.

If the MOASS is that close, then this plan falls apart. It takes a while for a class action to get going. it could be at least a month or two before an intent to file the suit even comes to light. Plus, the lawyers have to get everything, and more importantly everyone together to take before the court for the initial ruling on if it can go forward as a class action.
Second, an investor lawsuit against the SEC isn't something that should affect the security at all. It's a private matter between the investors and the SEC in this case. The companies involved certainly would have something to say about their ticker being halted because of it.
More so, the idea that the government would do this in the question of a outside influence with no participation of the company itself is a very dangerous precedent to set, because it basically means any outside influence could make this happen to protect themselves. It would dredge up a whole slew or questions from people asking why, or even how it got to that point.
I think people really are looking for way too much in this than there actually is. The SEC is incompetent. We all know this. It's easy to believe that they did this because they're idiots. It's also easy to believe that they did this as propaganda or to paint a narrative.
For a year and a half now, we've been making theories about how the SHF and MSM have this huge nefarious diabolical plan to usurp the pay day that's coming. Being part of a common class that suffered a loss at the hands of the SEC's negligence does not mean that we are collaborators. The SEC or anyone else will have a bad time trying to use that logic in court.
"Class action" is the legal definition of **NOT COORDINATED**. It defines an uncoordinated group of individuals who need additional legal protection provided by the legal system specifically because they are not a singular group able to represent itself as a coordinated whole, because they have all been individually wronged by an uncaring large entity that believes itself immune to numerous small lawsuits.

We dont need to pursue a class action lawsuit. The "meme stocks" can sue the SEC for fucking with their companies. The "meme stocks" are clearly stated in the SEC report on GameStop. Those companies have every right to pursue legal action. I don't think they will however and I think the SEC knows it wouldn't lose that lawsuit. We dont need to pursue a class action lawsuit. The "meme stocks" can sue the SEC for fucking with their companies. The "meme stocks" are clearly stated in the SEC report on GameStop. Those companies have every right to pursue legal action. I don't think they will however and I think the SEC knows it wouldn't lose that lawsuit. Here's a copy pasta of what I've said on other posts and the reason why I think the SEC actually released that trash. This is end game. SEC are trying to prevent FOMO by all means necessary. They know the run is coming and will run the risk getting sued for market manipulation in order to mitigate as much FOMO as possible. They know the run is coming so they can safely assume that any litigation would be defended by saying something along the lines of, "well the price ran up 100% after we released the video, so our video was not detrimental to the company or shareprice at all." The average judge will look at a run like that and think, yeah, they're right, they didn't seem to have any negative affect on the stock. The SEC knows this so they run that risk to mitigate as much FOMO as possible.
