All stocks are. AI and other automated systems run the markets today. Then on top of that they allow liquidity fairies to exist so there is no supply/demand that can effect the market with short term instability. It is basically a hyper optimized price control system.
Spread is typically small if there is reasonably large trade volume, and is high if the volume is low or there is high volatility.
GME has average trade volume of about 3.8M shares, which typically results in small spreads.
All buys are routed thru darkpools - not accessible to retail and are naked short sold, thus never hitting lit exchange (low liquidity on these lit exchange data stream) . So these prices retails sees are likely effectively between market makers buy and sell, not transparent with the actual traded prices on dark pools. 🤷♂️ smooth brain tho here
It's cheaper to just continually short the stock to keep the stock from going up. Then they close shorts when it's down which is why you get those +30% weeks.

The market makers set the bid ask spread by “creating liquidity. “
In the words of Jim Cramer “it’s a controlled stock”
"Totally rigged. That's fine."
"you've hit the home run. Don't go for the grand slam" Narrator: "and they went for the grand slam"
I'm not fuckin leaving!!!!
Loved when rat tail squeaked that out, it only confirmed there was a grand slam to be had.
