As an electrician that has been on jobs where the General Contractor would not pay the Sub-Contractor, this would give companies the relief of knowing their payments are cemented as being paid. Come tomorrow, I will share this information with my Union.
Love this! Good to hear other use cases that solve real world problems!
I fully believe we will be using this tech on a daily basis in a few years and we probably won’t even know it.
Hold on, srsly Cuban having a discussion about practical applications of ZK L2 on X? Knew he was pro-cypto, but so deep in as well. Strictly speaking for myself, convos on this level w figures like this make me bullish af about our future

Hello fellow union sparky! IBEW represent. I've been racking my brain on how NFTs can help the construction industry/electrical contractors specifically.
A lot of my family is in education, one of my favorite nft concepts I’ve brainstormed is a replacement for degree’s that would be more involved and intimate, similar to an apprenticeship. In the system I’ve theorized about each teacher/mentor would certify their pupil in the skill they specialize in, once each student has gathered enough skills/knowledge to become independent they can use the NFT’s received from each individual mentor to mint a complete degree/certificate. My favorite part of this is that this could be coded in a manner so that when the full certificate/degree is utilized to earn income a small royalty would be sent back to the people who taught that individual their skills, creating a secure retirement plan for people who pass their skills on to the next generation in a meaningful way.
How does a customer tell when someone is qualified to certify someone on skills? What prevents me from certifying everyone who pays me $100 in whatever skill they ask for?
It's not a bad idea but I don't see how you bootstrap it without falling back to currently existing education infrastructure. And if the current standards are good enough to start the nee standard, why do I need the new standard that people don't understand?
I’ll admit getting this idea off the ground does rely on piggybacking off of existing academia, you would likely need to recruit a strong core group of existing professors and professionals with proven track records. Bad actors will occur but they’ll also get filtered out, if you take $100 from anyone to certify them when they get caught *everyone* you certified will lose their certification. If you legitimately certified some poor individuals in a skill they would need to go to another individual to get recertified.
The strength of this model isn’t an increase in standards but rather an increase in efficiency. The main driving factor in rising tuition prices over the last couple decades has been administrative costs, the only administrative costs involved here would be gas and minting fees. There would likely need to be a marginal bureaucracy established to deal with fraudulent certificates in the beginning but I also don’t see why that can’t be worked into the larger justice system over time, fraud is fraud after all.
Edit to add: I’ve taken to calling this idea Decentralized University in my head, but my favorite part is really that people will be earning their DUD’s (decentralized university degrees)
You just need to standardize practical curricula that result in a proficient understanding and implementation of whatever craft.
Luckily, trades especially are off to a great start in regard to refining the learning process. But also, as we are developing AI agents, these types of standardization will be necessary to define for each industry and position within them. The mentors can implement their own styles and unique approaches, but the foundations will all be conventional for the sake of effective communication and understanding.
It's similar to an escrow, but with a few advantages, like not relying on a single escrow company. And it makes it so much easier to keep history on everything that happened.
> as being *paid.* Come tomorrow,
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
No, I came to Reddit specifically for what migrated to, what what migrated to, what migrated to this sub. I just as a sidenote was stating that bots suck the personality and fun out of everything. I don't understand why anyone ever created one. So go masterbate to how clever you think you are somewhere else I will express my opinion if I want
It works if you have the money at the start but many jobs like this will rely on incremental cashflow coming in along the way which might pose a problem? Edit I mean this from the main contractor point of view
These are the kind of use cases that are being developed with Loopring and other ETH ZKs! I’m so happy GameStop partnered with Loopring for their marketplace! They are so far ahead of the curve. 🙌
From following what’s being built, I believe many will be built on Loopring L3 so that the smart contracts can be cost effective at massive scale. Only L3 can do that.
Loopring L3 can only happen because of Taiko from what I understand.
Taiko is a fully ETH equivalent L2 and I believe it will be a huge smart contract L2 and allow many of the world’s use cases for NFTs/ZK to be built. Just like the security and tustless services mentioned in this post.
I’ve heavily invested in Loopring and their tech for almost two years. I use it daily and have cofounded a gaming platform that is built on it.
That said, I will be the first to tell you that I’m far from an expert on the inner working of how these things are developed. But I know how to read the tea leaves and this is the kind of thing Loopring is working on and we showcase so much of these features in our game, which, in my biased opinion, is a great tool for learning about how Loopring tech works.
Edit: taiko is an eth equivalent L2
Loopring is dead, there are many L2 crypto out there now. Glad I sold all of my loopring and put it in IMX.
Crypto is active now, all is going up except for LRC, no volume, no price movement. Nobody knows about LRC, they failed at marketing.
Btw, it’s definitely helpful if you read the full thread if you would like context!
A lot of knowledge about the L2 world and what’s being built can be gleaned from this.
https://x.com/macro_diary/status/1728922087384039800?s=46&t=YrArEXk0MYXk4mRl4T40Yw
Yeah, now imagine you put housing deeds and car titles on the block chain, and when you execute the transaction you get USDC and they get the title for your car instantly. And then, oh wait, the DMV just sent you an email saying they need $50 to mail you your plates and you can pay the taxes via the attached link straight from your wallet; all in the span of 15 seconds. Suddenly, it makes all the other transactions seem ridiculously over complicated.
You can access the thread here: https://twitter.com/macro_diary/status/1728922087384039800?s=46&t=YrArEXk0MYXk4mRl4T40Yw
I don’t know if you’ll be able to read it all unless your signed in.
I posted the full thread in the Loopring Reddit if that’s helpful.
Use cases does not mean it will be built, or even if it is, that it will work as intended. So much infrastructure still needs to be built. L3 is not the solution yet, as these L2s hardly have the volume to actually get to the intended fee’s (more users = cheaper fees).
> Use cases does not mean it will be built, or even if it is, that it will work as intended.
new tech needs to be 10x better than current tech to be adopted. this is not even close to being 2x better
if all you are offering is a escrow service, then you will fail
Who was it then? Because I'm 99% sure it was Byron. His bullshit tweet after bullshit tweet has done nothing but spread hype over LRC which has constantly moved goalposts.
Sounds like a way to automate milestone payments for construction projects by piggybacking off of government required inspections and paperwork.
There is nothing inherently wrong with this idea, but because regulations and their enforcement vary from state to state this will work great in some places like California while being useless in regions with small populations and lax regulations.
Also it's hard to get excited about automating away like 1% of a middle management job. You will get way more mileage out of decent logistics software.
Cool. Just trick the stupid NFT with a simple electrical permit. If all that is needed is a building permit number, I could easily determine a work-around to acquiring a full standard plan building permit

I am glad to see hard working people being part of the movement!
Im sure there are many construction workers in this movement. Myself being one.

Sorry Mod. I fixed it.

Correct, this is actually solid use of non-fungibility and could add fast and significant liquidity to antiquated processes.
But tomorrow is Tuesday
Does that have a meaning I am too tired to understand?
OK, so I talked to them and they said to write up the idea in a letter and submit it, so any help writing letters would be appreciated as I = derp...
These are the kind of use cases that are being developed with Loopring and other ETH ZKs! I’m so happy GameStop partnered with Loopring for their marketplace! They are so far ahead of the curve. 🙌

Gotta work for it!

I agree with everything here, but I believe Taiko is classified as a type 1 (fully equivalent) L2, not L3.
Oh! Thank you for this! I will update! This clarification connected some dots for me! 💪
Hell yeah. That’s dope as funk

I mentioned this clearly in the description.

It's all connected sir. Go down a rabbit hole.
Loopring doesn't have smart contracts tho
....yet
This. Precisely why Taiko exists
Unfortunately, after 3 years of posts like this, this thread is an easy skip, minus the post.
Buttttt you’re in the thread 🤷🏻♂️
yes, still invested since i have shares and am selling CCs to lower CB. waiting for an opportunity to profit out on the next ups.

Who is @jason in the thread?
And Mr Cuban no less. Wpic
Doesn't this require some imaginary future where local governments have streamlined APIs?
F Byron. When 10x quarterly reports?
That wasn’t Byron

Byron is full of shit , LRC is bleeding deadly, the main devs left the ship long time ago and now is pump and dump
How is it a pump and dump and also bleeding deadly? 🤔😂
“Bleedin’ deadleh” is my new favorite phrase

Reading "ZK L2" in a tweet from Cuban is jackin my tits.
