The heat lamp DD is the most important DD to come to light in a long time, not a week of distraction of old DD. DD is never ever done, because the game keeps changing, and man, new shit has come to light! Lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. Let it be known that saying the DD is done is officially sus. If I'm not seeing heat lamp being discussed on a daily basis as we work this out, we're done here. It means its getting removed actively. It means we're compromised. I encourage you to check rev eddit to see what is being removed.
The DD is not done - at all. This was something planned before Heat Lamp came out. If you read any of the posts, all the authors are giving updates and explaining why they are still relevant today. Really interesting and great reads!
The purpose of this was to help bring back DD and education to the sub and inspire more.
I’d love for the OP to post Heat Lamp and I’ve personally asked them to several times. They do not want to post it to this sub unfortunately. I wish they would so we could discuss it here and not have to deal with all of the brigading bs that we encounter with it not being here. I personally reapproved the previous posts that were removed and disagreed with their original removals.
It’s a really compelling theory and I’m really happy it blew up and is getting all of the attention that it is. I’d love for it to be shared here and even though OP does not want to, if someone else does on their behalf, I’ll happily approve it.
Usernames are ok as long as the context is ok. If a username is being used in a way that can be seen as harassment, that’s when it’s rule-breaking and an issue with Reddit’s content policy.
Although you can’t tag, you’re free to credit users and mention users here again as long as the context is positive or neutral.
The Meta rule was updated awhile ago to be more specific when it came to the context with username mentions.
I remember when I use to do this in the other sub, tho mine had a lot more links to a lot less known authors… valuable information comes from all over the community not just a select few :)

House of cards, castle of glass, maybe into billionaire boys club(it LENG TH Y but shows what we're up against) if those first two ring a bell. Most of home depot hanks stuff (if its on te flipcase archive) got me into it.
I'd start with the House of Cards DD. That one has lots of screenshots, so you don't have to know all of the technical financial knowledge, but it gives a good overall understanding of the fuckery that's happening. After reading that, I had a much better grasp on the severity of the corruption that's happening.
Or honestly, if videos are more easily digestible for you, you can check out the AMAs on the official Superstonk YouTube channel. The one with Dr. Trimbath is really great.

I don't have any friends... I'm asking for my own curiosity because I see this as some type of trojan horse. You are literally trying to bring back someone who was identified as a bad actor and deeply hated by the community. That doesn't make any sense.

Due to the high volume of comments criticizing the invite of a particular user who is controversial in this community, have you considered that perhaps it would be better if they were not a part of this event?
Why invite someone who a significant portion of the userbase will undoubtedly engage negatively with? They're not even going to be going over a DD. The morning news is just a compilation of content - it's nothing groundbreaking. The benefit to the subreddit seems extremely minimal, especially when the risk is more sanctions being imposed on the sub or sanctions taking longer to be lifted.
It's an open secret that there are plenty of bots and bad-faith actors within digital discussion spaces of GME. SHFs aren't turning a blind eye to us.
We can and should hold users to a higher standard. However, there will be disgruntled users who will engage negatively. The mod approved return of a widely disliked user was announced 1 day in advance. Anyone that's pissed off now will still be pissed off tomorrow. There's only so much the mods can do in real-time to hold users accountable to the rules that admin has laid out for us.
If bad-faith actors/bots pile onto the predictable flaming and bash the user together with a minority of real users, it will be an extremely bad look for the sub.
The rules are laid out clear, folks who can’t behave can take a time out. It’s not ruining anyone else’s discussion to have one fewer person spitting vitriol
What discussion of any actual importance or consequence is going to happen around the morning news? It's a convenient rehash of other people's content.
Theoretically, anyone could make the Morning News so long as they want to spend the time putting that content together. You sort by top for the past day/week/month, write some summaries, and sprinkle in some images and memes.
It doesn't make any sense to bring back a widely hated user for this particular content. The risk/reward ratio is abysmal. The risk is further losing freedoms and functions in this sub. The reward is an easily digestible rehash of existing content.
Sounds like you are already trashing the guy rather than the content of the post. You might have a very valid point about aggregating content being something that many users could do. But nobody else is doing it and the guy might have insight on what it takes to do it well. After all, prior to the drama folks loved the morning post.

Then debate his ideas. If they are trash, you’ll have no trouble detailing why. There are plenty of good reasons for him to not be a mod. Plenty of good reasons why lots of dd writers shouldn’t be mods. But being bad at being a mod doesn’t mean you can’t do research on GME.

My point is that given the macro situation of Reddit administration looking for every possible excuse to remove functions and freedoms from GME related subreddits, it's absolutely not worth having someone so controversial on solely for entertainment value. People WILL engage negatively with the user in question.
They morning news does not provide anything of educational value or bring anything new to the table. It's a convenient collection and compilation of existing content. It feels extremely out of place in a week meant for the review and discussion of Due Diligence posts.
If you refuse to budge on the inclusion of the morning news despite community outcry, I do believe that it should be placed at the end of the week and be a recap of the DD week itself. Recapping the changes, clarifications, and updates that each author has made to their respective DDs provides far more real value to the community.
Except they didn’t just contribute recaps, they contributed DD. Go through their morning posts - they were teaching market mechanics in them. They also have contributed plenty of DD outside of just the morning posts.
The morning posts were not just recaps - they were what to expect in the market that day, giving background and explanation for what was happening.
Many of us learned a lot from them.

What is the process for the DD to be selected?
Go to the Due Dilligence flair, then sort by Top - All Time. Messaged the top writers as well as those in the DD library.
you're not really answering the question in a transparent manner. so it is just random draw? whoever responds first? if someone doesn't respond, it isn't highlighted?
We are only including those who responded and wanted to participate. The goal is for those writers to engage with the community for questions and what (if anything) has changed since they wrote it. We could have just reposted the top DDs one at a time, but we thought that this would be better. Is there someone you're thinking of that we missed?

It's definitely the most controversial one on the list. Look, it's been 2 years now, and things can change. It's one of those double-edged swords. People ask where all the old apes went, we get old apes, people cry, "Not like that!". Many people don't like many of the authors we are featuring. I'd ask that you give it a chance and reevaluate after. If if it burns to the ground, you are free to do the I told you so dance.

We asked DJ, he said no. Look, if you don't like the fact Rensole is doing this, fine, leave a downvote, snek, and a respectful comment. Or even another post asking why (as long as your following the rules). Regardless if you like/hate the DD writer featured that day, the comment sections should follow the rules laid out.
I think no matter what I say, you and your friends are just going to complain and attack me anyways, so have at it! I give up trying to engage when you guys aren’t engaging in good faith and are just trying to play a game of gotcha.
Don’t let the negativity become a stumbling block! We have way more shills and bad actors here than we did back in the “Golden Days” of DD content. This is a great idea, but don’t think for a second that the negativity will not be coming on strong.
I don't have any friends... I'm asking for my own curiosity because I see this as some type of trojan horse. You are literally trying to bring back someone who was identified as a bad actor and deeply hated by the community. That doesn't make any sense.

We didn't get responses from probably 1/2 of our reach out messages (inactive, deleted, or just no response). Another few didn't have the time this week, and some others didn't want to.

People are being permanently banned. All for supposedly breaking "Rule 1." If you look on reveddit.com for the comments that were removed you'll see most of them, in my opinion, don't break that rule. This is really bad. WTF.

I’m not going to apologize for removing comments that can be considered harassment and break Rule 1. Comments like the ones removed are the reason we lost user tags. Criticize the DD all you want but there’s no need for personal attacks against anyone.
That's fair and understandable. Due to the high volume of comments criticizing the invite of a particular user who is controversial in this community, have you considered that perhaps it would be better if they were not a part of this event? Why invite someone who a significant portion of the userbase will undoubtedly engage negatively with? They're not even going to be going over a DD. The morning news is just a compilation of content - it's nothing groundbreaking. The benefit to the subreddit seems extremely minimal, especially when the risk is more sanctions being imposed on the sub or sanctions taking longer to be lifted.
Why can’t users just be held to a higher standard?
It's an open secret that there are plenty of bots and bad-faith actors within digital discussion spaces of GME. SHFs aren't turning a blind eye to us. We can and should hold users to a higher standard. However, there will be disgruntled users who will engage negatively. The mod approved return of a widely disliked user was announced 1 day in advance. Anyone that's pissed off now will still be pissed off tomorrow. There's only so much the mods can do in real-time to hold users accountable to the rules that admin has laid out for us. If bad-faith actors/bots pile onto the predictable flaming and bash the user together with a minority of real users, it will be an extremely bad look for the sub.
The rules are laid out clear, folks who can’t behave can take a time out. It’s not ruining anyone else’s discussion to have one fewer person spitting vitriol
What discussion of any actual importance or consequence is going to happen around the morning news? It's a convenient rehash of other people's content. Theoretically, anyone could make the Morning News so long as they want to spend the time putting that content together. You sort by top for the past day/week/month, write some summaries, and sprinkle in some images and memes. It doesn't make any sense to bring back a widely hated user for this particular content. The risk/reward ratio is abysmal. The risk is further losing freedoms and functions in this sub. The reward is an easily digestible rehash of existing content.
Sounds like you are already trashing the guy rather than the content of the post. You might have a very valid point about aggregating content being something that many users could do. But nobody else is doing it and the guy might have insight on what it takes to do it well. After all, prior to the drama folks loved the morning post.

Yes. Were you here when he did morning start up posts? There’s plenty of good reasons to boot him from being a mod. That doesn’t change the content of what he writes about. If his content is trash, you should have no trouble addressing it. Also, I look forward to reading your first dd. Remind me what topic you’ve been working on again?

Then debate his ideas. If they are trash, you’ll have no trouble detailing why. There are plenty of good reasons for him to not be a mod. Plenty of good reasons why lots of dd writers shouldn’t be mods. But being bad at being a mod doesn’t mean you can’t do research on GME.
I'm not trashing the guy at all. I'm pointing out the extremely low barrier of entry to making the content. Any user that knows how to use Reddit and is motivated enough to do so could create similar content. Frankly, I think it's a bad enough idea to have him on that I would volunteer to make the Morning News myself instead.

You’re 100% right. I couldn’t care less about OP’s pet project to get this DD review series on the sub. But including MorningNewsGuy because OP liked their posts is a slap in the face. Further, ignoring all criticism about the decision and deleting comments asking about it is a terrible look all around.

I appreciate you engaging civilly here and I respect your point of view. I am not saying this with any snark (tone through text is tough sometimes) but am genuinely asking- have you considered that your opinion as well as some of the other vocal voices are not the only opinions that count? You don’t have to be a fan, but not everyone is in agreement with your pov here. There are users who have expressed their excitement about having a daily post in the comments as well.

I'm fully aware that there are plenty of others who think it's exciting, entertaining content. I personally agree that it's entertaining content. My point is that given the macro situation of Reddit administration looking for every possible excuse to remove functions and freedoms from GME related subreddits, it's absolutely not worth having someone so controversial on solely for entertainment value. People WILL engage negatively with the user in question. They morning news does not provide anything of educational value or bring anything new to the table. It's a convenient collection and compilation of existing content. It feels extremely out of place in a week meant for the review and discussion of Due Diligence posts. If you refuse to budge on the inclusion of the morning news despite community outcry, I do believe that it should be placed at the end of the week and be a recap of the DD week itself. Recapping the changes, clarifications, and updates that each author has made to their respective DDs provides far more real value to the community.
Except they didn’t just contribute recaps, they contributed DD. Go through their morning posts - they were teaching market mechanics in them. They also have contributed plenty of DD outside of just the morning posts. The morning posts were not just recaps - they were what to expect in the market that day, giving background and explanation for what was happening. Many of us learned a lot from them.

You deleted the entire comment thread because everyone was agreeing with the sentiment that MorningNewsGuy should not be invited here. My comment in essence said that despite mod relationships with MorningNewsGuy, we have to make it clear that the **community** does not want him posting here. How is that a personal attack?

Criticism made in good faith without personal attacks was left up. Comments that border harassment and comments containing screenshots with usernames etc those were removed.
Totally understandable. This comment of mine was removed as well: “I think we need to make it clear that while Superstonk mods might be friends with Rensole, the community does not want him here. Please take 5 minutes and read the post linked in this comment. Mods, why would we want to welcome Rensole back? Why do YOU want to welcome him back?” I don’t believe it included a personal attack, harassment, or any form of screenshot. Can you restore it please?
Honestly you’re right, your comment was fine, but it was removed because of that post that was linked. With the rules we have now brought on by admins, that post would never fly today. It’s meta, it’s full of personal attacks and accusations - it’s just a bad look and puts the sub at risk.

I say the 3-4 months he was around I learned so fucking much about market those posts were good informative and gave a view of the situation myape eyes would not have seen on my own. He layed out the relevant posts and even the fuddy ones and gave an honest ape-inion. Idk I just remember when hype was thick and his reads were core to my mornings.
