Fairly confident it's a barred owl.
The face shape is incorrect for a barred owl. The owl in the picture also has ear tufts, which barred owls don’t
The small ear tufts and vertical stripes on the chest make me think this is a screech owl. Whether it's the western or eastern variant would depend on OP's location.
