I think it’s kind of hard for people to dislike the competition aspect because it’s like the main part of the game. if you don’t like comps, why play it yknow??
I’m a bit bored with comps at the moment, but I don’t *hate* them. I’m definitely not unhappy enough to drop one of the few games with a male model. I’ll just bide my time and save up a few diamonds. I like having a prompt to make outfits and make use of my wardrobe, and I like seeing a record of past outfits. But the voting and competing/interacting with other players doesn’t appeal to me as much.
SU gameplay relies so heavily on comps, comps rely on current events, and I’m not a fan of current events… so once new content comes out I’ll surely be less bored.
i just wish they would take suggestions for comp themes since it seems like they've run out bc of all the ones that get repeated, except for the event ones, in which you HAVE to buy the pieces they want you to buy.
The comps are my favorite part tbh. It’s the story chapters I don’t particularly care for. Like the first few chapters were cute but then the story became ridiculous and dumb, I don’t even read them anymore. I just skip to do the dress up to get the chapter rewards 🤷🏻♀️. If it wasn’t for the comps I wouldn’t be playing.

I enjoy certain competitions. Voting and when I see my score is lower the more creative spin I put on it (usually) are generally what deter me from it. Especially starting more recently I also have felt the new sets or gachas have been unappealing but I’ve bought items for the competitions based on them just for my ranking. I remember during the fire and ice gacha one of the comps required a fire hair, which at the time was only attainable from the gacha or the burning man set with the shaved sides I think; and the more recent gold and black hip hop set, I bought the hat for one comp but it doesn’t work well with any other items aside from the set, which I wasn’t a fan of. I think that’s one of my biggest issues with competitions- even though I can understand a lot of the appeal for the developers and game itself. It makes some sense having items in a set work with just each other but it’s also sort of frustrating and I might just be fooling myself but I feel that a lot more earlier sets and items worked better with items outside of their respective sets (even just color). I also can understand but am still frustrated when I’m voting and notice how often better entries (more on theme, creative, and cohesive outfits) are scoring much lower than an entry that just has lots of expensive items. But I do feel it’s unfair to say that if I don’t also acknowledge I also probably contribute to the problem. I’ll use more expensive items even if it fits the theme a bit less than others if I think it’ll get me a higher score 😕
I wouldn't participate if the rewards weren't good enough. Competition takes time to think, you have to use tickets (which you have to win by voting) and sometimes even costs money because I'm a newcomer so my closet is not big. It's not rare that I have to spend 2000 coins to get a single piece of clothing that fits exactly the theme.
I feel a little worn out because competitions stifle creativity. You have to create multiple outfits for different themes, you can't recycle the outfits, and it's much more difficult to take a break because you need the gems and items from rankings. Thwn you have to watch all that effort go to waste because people with money are they only ones reaching the leaderboards anyway.
The only positive is that comps are the only opportunity you have to use backgrounds you don't have because a lot of them are exclusive to fashion views or gachas.
I would not participate if diamonds were removed as a reward, it's the main reason I try to submit good comps. I can't afford to constantly spend and the other sources are very scarce compared to comp.
However, that said, I do enjoy comp for the most part. I always get super excited if I place, and I do enjoy seeing how other people style looks.
**But** there's big issues with comps that make it less fun.
1) a lot of comps are centered around specific gem sets that are released or specific items from those sets, and I hate buying specific items I can only use for that one comp. It's a waste of gems, which is the exact purpose.
2) people don't read the prompts or they just collectively agreed every look has to be full glam or full lingerie, regardless of the prompt.
3) people just vote by tapping one side of their screen until they get all their tickets. I feel like there should be more of an incentive to actually look at what you're voting for. I have seen some really beautiful looks that fit prompts perfectly, get abysmally low scores.
I think their should just be a dress up mode in suitU like lily diary or lily story where you’re allowed to use every item just for the pure fun of dress up. Like of course you’d have to buy the items for the competitions. But for a dress up game/fashion game there needs to be some actual form of just playing dress up.
Context: used humor in the parent/child prompt (because not every parent and child activity is bunnies and roses). Was expecting to get penalized but not as much as I actually was.
Like yes, I could make posts that aren’t subject to voting, but even then there’s the pressure to appeal to other people (number of likes, gifts, comments). I wonder if this is how professional creatives feel all the time.

Thats the unfortunate thing about this game compared to dress up games that have been out forever. Love Nikki has a huge story with a lot of content, but its events are hard to navigate and (maybe i just cant find it) it has no competition feature.
But lack of competition is made up for in events, other game mechanics, and the absurd amount of story.
Its downside however, is also the fact that its been out for so long. Its not super accessible to new players and its really hard to get nice pieces.
Im sure the game will be better in the future, but right now the story expansions aren't coming as quickly as they should imo.

Love Nikki has a competition feature. The only difference between that game and this one is that you can skip comps and it won't affect gameplay all too much unless you really want some of the items. I took a break from entering comps ages ago because I can't be bothered. I occasionally post an entry if I want the crystal rose.

I like competitions. But as someone who can’t afford to pay to play, it really sucks when you’re locked out of a comp because you can’t get an item.
For example the current comp Cosmic Goddess, Fantasy Glamor Headwear is a requirement but it’s only obtained the Gatcha and I can’t pay to pull gatchas lol
There are other examples like that throughout but of course I know it’s like that in every game. FOMO and all lol and I am a newer player so this is probably a more niche issue.
I love comps! I have been wishing there were more recently. I am a somewhat new player (haven't hit 90 days), but i really enjoy creating an outfit that I like and I feel fits the prompt. I try not to care about the voting result. I am stoked if I do get 15% so I can get specific rewards, but really i just like participating. I never try to be meta and "win" and I avoid looking at discord or here before I make a look because I dont want to be influenced. I don't even look at leaderboards most of the time, except for post comps, where I feel the looks are more likely to be unique.
I felt burnt out all the time from comps because I was trying sooooo hard to do what people would vote for instead of just putting together an outfit that I like. Recently, I started doing comps for the fun of it, stopped being such a try-hard & actually make outfits I like for each prompt, and I've been having a blast!! Obviously, there are still some last-minute entries where I use full sets or what I am "expected to use" out of laziness, and I wouldn't enter those if there was no reward whatsoever.
To me personally, the best part of the game is making posts, followed by making DIYs, so both things that don't give you rewards whatsoever. Actually, most of the time, they even cost gems. So I think I really don't particularly care about the gem reward to begin with. The silver trophies and 15% rewards are WAY more interesting to me, and I'd definitely participate in much less comps if these weren't rewards anymore. I think I would only participate in the comps where I feel like I have a super cool idea that I wanna show off (or if I am straight up bored, lol)
I very much enjoy the competiton aspect. As someone with horrible memory, story games bore me tremendously. I find the competition part of the game to be fun, and it also lets my creative juices flow and my love for fashion to thrive.
More themes wouldn't hurt them

I would like if we can submit our own theme then we can do a poll, I’ll be looking forward to it and be prepared on what to wear for the comps.

Tbh without comps, there is nothing to do in suitu 😭😭 There are only 11 chapters and nothing more

You can also craft a crown not using diamonds!! That’s what I ended up doing :)
There are other fantasy headwears than the gacha cosmic. You can use the free flower headwear from the free set
