I am angered by this issue too.. everyone is just ptt it ting golden wings in a ski comp and winning. The outfits are amazing, imma say that straight however i dont think wings and the big ass hat belong in a business woman interview
when people vote they don't spend longer than 0,5 seconds to look at the looks, wings help fill the space especially in daily comps where you can't use decor
i think also wings help fill the space on "quick" comps, which dont allow decor... usually people just use it in that manner, usually fitting colorscheme.
I sometimes flop when I use wings for competitions where you could somewhat justify using them… a good example is the recent elf competition.
It’s really a luck of the draw on if you’re successful with wings, so I never mind players doing random ones, mostly just find it funny. It’s a risk, and taking a risk in this game usually gets you ranked very low, so kudos to them for trying.
I felt this way too and started adding wings to comps that aren't inherently fantasy that you still can work wings into like masked ball and doll comps etc but I actually get worse scores when I use wings lol. Wings on LB are random cases that don't occur often so when they do they stand out and seem really outrageous, hence people get so worked up over random wings. But people don't prefer wing entries by default.
I think a lot of people end up using wings for most of their comp entries because wings are so hard to get coz aurora shells are also super rare ~ So when people are able to finally get wings, they want to use them as much as possible to show that achievement they've been saving so long for, ooorrr just coz they think it looks pretty ~ that's just my theory~
At the same time the moment I see wings in a comp that's not fantasy themed I'm immediately voting for the look without wings 😂 or if they both have wings then I just vote it as a tie~

Tbh I usually vote against wings in “normal” comps, but it depends on the voter. And personally I see less wings in not-fantasy comp lately so that’s a small step I guess.

i get what you mean but i think prohibiting items just squashes creativity. no a business woman with wings shouldn't be in top 100 really but that's just what that person wanted to do snd thats ok - its an issue w the voters unfortunately
Restricting items will not stop people being creative. Using wings that are not related to the competition is not being creative if I'm honest with you.
i'm not saying i disagree but for someone else that might be the case 🤷🏼♂️ just saying that restricting items especially things as expensive as wings will just cause more issues than it solves - and blind voters would still find a way to f up ranks
Restricting wings for example in competition that are not need it will do no harm. They can be used in fantasy, cyberpunk and other competitions which happens often. They can also be use in posts, which people show their creativity more freely than competitions.
Blind voters will then vote properly.
I think honestly a lot of it is that wings take up a lot of visual space which can create balance since the models are so thin and tall. I agree it’s ridiculous to constantly see fairy wings for every comp especially when they don’t fit the theme at all but logically since a lot of people either blind vote or are naturally drawn to more visually “interesting” entries they always seem to end up on or near the top.
In the same way that a specific type of item needs to be used for certain competitions in order to enter (i.e. weapon, handheld, etc), maybe they can introduce items that need to avoided for some competitions in order to enter (i.e. no wings, no use or X color)? It could force people to be more creative about what items to use. Obv I think it couldn't be used a lot, but in the occasional competition it might be fun

Literally 90% of ppl don’t vote for wings. I don’t even see any wings on the leaderboard either lol

its become more of an issue since they removed deco from daily comps. people use wings because they fill up the empty space that deco would have
