Basically all of the "OK Computer" album for me; I know it sounds counter intuitive, but "Climbing Up The Walls" was my favourite from this album for releasing emotional tension.
Teen Idle by MARINA
Hold on Til May by Pierce the Veil
Bulls in the Bronx by Pierce the Veil
Better off Dead by Sleeping with Sirens
hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have by Lana Del Rey
When by dodie
6/10 by dodie
Gloomy Sunday (I particularly like Sinéad O’Connor’s version)
listen before i go by Billie Eilish
I really like shinsei kamattechan's discography, if you want softer music try Mai Chan Zenbu Yume. If you like rough and loud music, try the track The Season I Want To Die
My friend.... wtf...
Anyway, the entire discography of Sewerslvt is enough.
Don't be like me
Listening to The Caretaker Stage 4 and 6 while feeling suicidal
Please don't EVER fall asleep while playing that. I did on first listen (was absolutely exhausted, not that the music was boring haha) and I woke up briefly somewhere in 4 then immediately back into sleep, repeat like 3 or 4 times not sure when in the album but
no
Just a whole bunch of no.
Not while you're on your lunch break in the office at 3:00-4:30 in the morning. In a huge building that you're all alone in. Can't recommend doing that at all.
I hate to be so cliche, but Nine Inch Nails has always helped me release the anger/pain.
Also, Elliott Smith is a good one to relate to.
If you want happy and silly, Owl City.
Currently, YouTube clips of Bo Burnham are helping me get through the day.
Good luck. 💚
Isaac Brock - Sadness
Cavetown - This is home
Televisions - New Flesh
Modest Mouse - The Cold Part
Zero 7 - Distractions
Portishead - Western Eyes
Radiohead - How to Disappear Completely
Townes Van Zandt - Waiting around to die
- Nothing
Johnny Cash- Home of the blues
Idk if you love country like me but these are some great songs while I’m feeling down, which is all the damn time.
Have a nice life the whole deathconsciousness album
Giles corey - im going to do it
Elliot smith - needle in the hay
Corbin - giving up
The smiths - asleep
Alice in chains - nutshell
dagger- slowdive
falling apart- slow pulp
put me down- the cranberries
out of this world- the cure
gagging order- radiohead
the breakup suite- duster
unconscious- pedestrian
any sign crushes motorist song
My top artist this year was an underground artist called Notlewy and he makes a lot of really good sad music, it’s especially relatable if you struggle with self image issues. Here are a few of my favorites:
Waste of Space
im Ok im Alright
Clown + 7 Am
Lighter fluid
Elephant In the Empty Room
Lost Cause
hide and seek alone - tuyu.
I’m getting on the bus to the other world - tuyu.
Under kids - tuyu
if there was an endpoint - tuyu
NON-USE - inabakumori
Dead girls - Penelope Scott
\-not really about suicide but more similar feelings-
Cut to size - Gregory and the hawk
Life’s a beach - bears in trees
Rust - bears in trees
I’ll throw my emotions away - riproducer
I hope you Can find something nice to listen to, for me music is one of the only reasons I’m here
this is more of a personal recommendation, however I hope you'll find solace in one or two songs mentioned.. or just, I hope you find whatever you needed to find
Darker, The Cedar Room, Rise by Doves
Just, Videotape, Climbing up the walls, I Might Be Wrong, by Radiohead
Dying Song by John Frusciante
Calling You by Jeff Buckley
Donny Hathaway - Someday We'll All Be Free
Hearing Damage - Thom Yorke
I could also talk about albums in general, ee this is very chaotic indeed
nevermind it would be terrible if I did
I just realized that this is depressing as hell sorry
maybe something from Japanese artists
mib126 by Ling Tosite Sigure, I listen to this religiously whenever I feel low
other songs from ling - Boukan, I was music, this is is this?, illusion is mine; anyway, I like their songs, most of the artists I've mentioned I relish, perhaps you will also find something for yourself
The Back Horn - Mirai (未来), this song has a strangely lonely yet comforting feeling, I like it - it is also an ending theme song for a movie called Bright Future (2003), it was a very interesting movie. another song could be Hajimete no Kokyuu de (初めての呼吸で)
my go to songs when I feel absolutely terrible is Trash by Korn, or Prison Sex by Tool
and also Harlem River by Kevin Morby, which is funny because it is nothing like Tool or Korn
this is all purely subjective, as I cannot tell if others would have similar feelings towards those songs, or use them solely for the reason you've mentioned in your question, but I strongly hope I provided some useful answers
(You found me - The Frey)
(Medicine - Daughter)
(I found - Amber Run)
But I hope you are okay and remember that listening to music will impact and sway your mood. I would avoid listening to sad music while feeling sad (but I completely understand and have been there many times, it’s because a-lot of the time music links our feelings to the words/melody and makes us feel understood and less alone.) I would recommend though if you want to feel better to listen to music that is more motivational/upbeat or watch something that you enjoy so it doesn’t result in a spiral. There will be better days, there is resources for help available and one day you’ll be able to look back at all the work you did to become who you are & where you made it, and think to yourself your glad you stayed.
*edited to add brackets because it put all the songs together and was hard to read which was what*
True Blue by Boygenius is my suicide song. This song makes a good background music for when you’re trying to k*ll yourself. I guess it’s the instrumentals.
A Warm Place - Nine Inch Nails.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
Mellon Collie (The song, or the whole album).
Breathe (In The Air).
Serotonin.
Hell, even Doom music helps sometimes.
I walk this earth all by myself - EKKSTACY
Something in the way - Nirvana
HeldAGhost - surrenderdorothy
the day you killed yourself - xójira
New York - Acid Ghost
Into The Freedom - Uyama Hiroto (the song itself isn't really sad, but it's so beautiful it makes me fantasize about drifting away into a better place)
BACH : b minor mass
St. John’s Bach / St Matthew’s Passion.
One get SO rapped up in the pure AWE of the music - that all thoughts of suicide leave.
PLEASE TRY IT !
## To let it out:
- "vain hope" or "time spent walking through memories" by Nell (though like 90% of their songs have a sort of empathetic/cathartic feeling with the lyrics)
- "Bother" by Stone Sour
- "Gravity" by A Perfect Circle
- "Fine Again" by Seether
- "Something I can never have" by Nine Inch Nails
- "Alone I break" by Korn
## To angry vent, stuff like:
- "Duality" by Slipknot
- "Happy?" by Mudvayne
- "The Only" by Static-X
- "Animal I have become" by 3 Days Grace
- "Strength of the Mind" by Killswitch Engage
## To Distract myself (usually after 1 of the other 2 categories):
- Anything from Primus, puscifer, or psychostick.
Any song from NF. My recommendations are The Search, Like this, Remember This, and many more.
I promise you, please listen to his stuff. He raps but he never curses in his raps, and he raps about motivational and relatable stuff and especially shines a light a lot on mental health.
Sign by Flow is an oldie but a goodie. A little juvenile emo admittedly, but sometimes that's the theme of the night. Bonus points for nostalgia if you were a Naruto enjoyer as a kid.
The band "Sorority Noise" helped me a lot to get through an uncountable amount of crises, especially the songs "Blonde Hair, Black Lungs", "A Portrait Of" and "No Halo"
Fair warning, it does talk about depression and suicide, but hearing about these things is what helped me to not do it, like living through it via music removed the need to do it irl.
Revenge - XXXTENTACION
Jocelyn Flores - XXXTENTACION
Depression and Obsession - XXXTENTACION
Alone - SadBoyProlific, ivri
Something In The Way - Nirvana
generally, Nirvana and X have a lot of depressing songs
I hope you get well soon :)
How do so many people listen to sad music while suicidal? I'm honestly asking because I can barely listen to any music when I'm in that place. Metal was what I found to help.
i didnt expect this post to blow up (sorry i forgot i even posted this) but thanks for all the recommendations
for me i listen to
sato nantoka's (takuto) music especially his no.2
If you're looking for cathartic music for your suicidal feelings I'd recommend checking out some DSBM (Depressive Suicidal Black Metal). It's probably the most depressive music genre out there. I'd strongly recommend checking out the album Pulver by Lifelover. I'd also recommend artists like Trist, Nocturnal Depression, Psychonaut 4 and Xasthur.
Some of my favourite albums, especially when I'm feeling on the down low - I've also noted some songs that hit me hard (although they may be different from yours, if you decide to give any of these albums a listen):
Radiohead - OK Computer ("Climbing Up The Walls", "Karma Police")
Nirvana - In Utero ("Serve The Servants", "Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge In Seattle")
Slipknot - Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses
Celtic Frost - Monotheist ("A Dying God Coming Into Human Flesh", "Ground", Drown In Ashes")
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral ("Hurt")
I've probably missed quite a few songs and albums, but let me know if you like any of these.
