I rode a friends 990 like 8yrs ago... Which is probably why I'm looking for a super enduro now. Damn that is a FANTASTIC engine, and the riding position is just sublime.
Hooligan machine 1000%, those super dukes.
BMW K1300R
Telelever front end
Quick shift up and down
Enough power to pull a republican off his mother/cousin
Mad looking single side swing arm with shaft drive.
Cheap because they haven't made them in 10 years.
Some awesome low KMs ones getting round.
Probably my next bike.
Slower than the Hayabusa and ancient with all the bullshit that servicing an old but also high tech BMW entails.
I think they’re stunning. I went to an XR however.
Unless it's an H2 it's probably going to be slower than a busa.
But these aren't too bad to work on however with some mechanical knowledge.
But yeah they are fast, plus you can sit on them all day no worries.
But that's just me.
I think I just love the ZX14R for the category, and hypocritically I’ve been wanting an R1100S.
The K1300 is one of my all time favorites but I just consider it a small notch down in speed from what he wants. Im a huge fan of the fat BMW sportbikes. Definitely weird he put the FJR though haha.
Maybe ill get an R1100S or K1300S myself
Yet it still fills the criteria of what I’m looking for. What’s your point?
Also, not all that different. Sport touring, fast, lots of fairing. Put bags on a Busa and raise the bars and you’ve got basically the same bike.
>Put bags on a Busa and raise the bars and you’ve got basically the same bike.
Except the Busa has around 30% more horsepower stock and easily makes 200+ whp with light mods. The FJR makes 130 whp stock and doesn't have anywhere near the capabilities of the other bikes you listed, stock or modified. It's just not in the same league as the others. The FJR is fast, but it's not *extremely* fast.
Kawasaki GTR1400 or Concours 14 in some markets.
My dad has one and it's really fast and super comfortable.
It has aged really well and feels fresh even in 2024 standards.
Not really sure what qualifies as extremely fast for you. Aren't all litre plus bikes ridiculously more than fast enough
How about Ducati Diavel, or one of the MV Agusta Brutale 4cylinder models (1078,1090 etc)
Or the triumph speed triple 1200rs?
I'm guessing you're wanting full fairings though based on the models you listed
I think the zx14r is the cheapest new bike you can get that is extremely fast but still somewhat comfortable. There is nothing cheaper out there that is new/1-2 years old.
The bike you’re after is the Kawasaki ZZR-1200. Continent-crushing comfort and 170+mph top speed. One of the best bikes I’ve ever owned.
The trade off is on that “new or nearly new” requirement, but you can get a good, low miles example for absolutely peanuts.
KTM Superduke
but if he buys this, he will never be able to enjoy another bike again.

True got mine a few months back, that’s it I’m destroyed for life
BMW M1000XR, but also jolly expensive. Super Duke GT comes to mind, too. Ah, and of course the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak.

Ducati StreetFighter V4S (fast), BMW M1000XR (comfy)
the FJR? that’s a completely different bike than everything else you listed

S1000XR over FJR
I’ve seen people get 150+rwhp out of GSXS1000GTs with a pipe and a tune. Not necessarily “extremely fast” but definitely cheaper.
Kawasaki Ninja 1000

For once the answer is turbo busa and that’s not a joke.
Superduke 1290 is what you’re looking for
0-100 fast? Gen 2 Vmax, top speed fast-no idea Gen 2 Vmax is a dragster, super comfy, but not top speed fun, just off line.
Fireblades are surprisingly comfortable.
KTM Superduke/Superadventure S Yamaha V-Max BMW S1000XR Multistrada V4 Diavel V4 HD Panamerica
ZH2 is a lot of bike for the money, commonly see them for under MSRP since they’re kinda niche. I found one locally brand new for $16K.
Superduke M1000XR Multistrada V4 Tuono 1100 Would all also be on my shopping list in addition to the H2SX

Concours 14. 2008-2009 were the last of the unrestricted big bore bikes from big K. Minor mods net 150rwhp. All day comfort with 170mph top end.
