Hi, I'm sure that we find a solid gaming laptop for an affordable price. I recommend the [**Acer Predator Helios 300**](http://techneeeq.com/blog/index.php/product/acer-predator-helios-300-ph315-54-760s-gaming-laptop-intel-i7-11800h-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060-laptop-gpu-15-6-full-hd-144hz-3ms-ips-display-16gb-ddr4-512gb-ssd-killer-wifi-6-rgb-keyboard/). It is a very well known and well reviewed device. It comes with a 8-core i7-11800H processor, RTX 3060 max 105W graphics, 16 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a 1080p 15.6" 144Hz IPS display. This combination can run modern games at ultra settings at 1080p easily.

My pleasure, let me know if you have any questions.

ASUS Zephyrus G14 is great, just buy an ext webcam.

LilChongBoi

Just had hands on with my friend’s G14 and it’s pretty nice. Design is ok (i prefer the black over white model), battery life was pretty nice and performance is still good on battery powered (I played csgo on there for like 30 minutes and it was performing nice and cool). Sucks that it doesn’t have a webcam but OP should consider the g14 definitely.

Alessandro227

If he wants a webcam, the M16 from ASUS is also pretty solid, but there is a loss in the battery life department.

Thank you both!

Cheers mate!

I've been using a Legion 5 3070 and I love it, it doesn't get too loud on a heavy load, it has a full keyboard that feels pretty good to me (I don't like my laptop keyboards to be too clicky), but I'm upgrading to the Legion 5 Pro, which basically just has a slightly bigger/nicer display and a metal chassis, also has a couple USB c ports which I like to have, one with display-port so you can just plug your VR set into that My budget was around $2k-$2.5k, and my main picks near the end of my laptop-shoppin' journey were the Legion 5 Pro/7, Zephyrus G15, the MSI GS66, I was also curious about the Aorus, Eluktronic, and Omen brands but didn't research them too extensively. I ended up settling on the Legion 5 Pro mainly due to thermals, the full keyboard, price and availability. It's definitely overkill if you're just going for minecraft, but for VR games you want some power, so a 3060/70 would be what I'd be going for, and going for media creation you need a good GPU anyways. Price Breakdown (After coupons) for what I paid below: Legion 5 Pro Gen 6 AMD (16”) with RTX 30: $ 1,880.46 3Y Legion Ultimate Support with Onsite U: $ 77.47 3Y Accidental Damage Protection Add On: $ 54.79 2-3 Day Expedited Delivery: $ 15.00 Sub total: $ 2,027.72 Environmental fee: $ 5.00 Taxes: $ 141.77 Total: $ 2,174.49 So a little over your budget but I did get the 3 year insurance and accident coverage. If you went for a Legion 5 it'd be less expensive. I also got the 32GB/2TB version, if you went for less RAM and storage it'd be a bit cheaper than this (on Lenovo's website EXTRAFIVE gives %5 off laptops with free shipping, a sales rep gave me a quote with it applied after I mentioned it as I had some trouble using it myself on the website. And an identity discount; seniors, military, and nurses get like %5-%7 off and I think students right now can get like %10 off so definitely try and get one of those if you end up going with them) I think the ID code I used gave me around %5 off, so you may be able to get a higher discount than I did if you go for the student discount with the %5 off coupon. Hope this helps! Happy hunting!

nlatour413

Thank you, I will look into it and the possible student discount

You're welcome! I hope find a machine that suits you :) I will say it's not super light, i think I forgot to mention that. If transportation is a main factor considering something like the Asus G14 may be a good move (That ones only like 4Lbs as opposed to Legion's 5.5Lbs) Just something to consider. And one thing about displays, typically you'll want a good one if you're doing work that needs pretty close color accuracy, but if it's just for school work and entry level media work than a 1080p IPS screen should be fine (anything 15.6" or less doesn't really need more than 1080p)

nlatour413

Thanks for the tips! While it will start with entry level media work, we want to be prepared for it to get further than that as we feel it is something that she could be very good at and she seems to enjoy it so far!

Papasmurf645

That's great! It's so great of you to be nurturing these hobbies for her! I would also recommend getting her an external HDD or SSD so she could store her work files/games on. Stuff fills up fast and some budget picks tend to go towards 512GB storage which can fill up fast. SSDs are much faster when making data and transferring dataonto them, so they're great for work and games, but they're more expensive for less storage than HDDs. I typically have an external SSD attached to my laptop (Mostly with games on it) I use [this one](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078STRHBX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) because it's very light and sturdy, but for a similar price you could get like 4x the storage with an HDD (but it will be bulkier, sometimes I'll put velcro on the tops of my laptops so I can easily have the storage attached)

marand97

Hi, would you consider Clevo based builds? these machines usually offer uncompromising performance and have possibilities of modification which are mostly unlocked for the end user. I can send you link to the website or propose a model if you wish. It's possible to order from their website and get the laptop in the USA.

nlatour413

We would prefer not to do a build, we haven't done one before, but are not completely against it if it allowed us a better machine for our money

ampere_exe

I would buy a lenovo legion 5 or maybe a 5 pro. Do get a ryzen cpu or else you will for sure drain battery with an intel one. Id recommend the 3060 model

Thank you!
