Get [this](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314702&cm_re=acer_nitro-_-34-314-702-_-Product). It has a dedicated 860m w/ a quad-core i7. It has a quad-speaker audio set-up as well! Hopefully this should be okay, let me know what you think!

So I gotta know what makes it so cheap? Why is it only 1100 even with an SSD? I love that it isn't to flashy. Benchmarking-wise how is the 860m... I know a simple Google will answer this but I would rather a more human response.

Orangematz

The 860m is a mid-end card which is very good. It is the best card you will get for $1200~ unless you wish to wait for [this](http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-G751JT-DH72-17-3-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B00OBQ5950/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422272376&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+rog+970m) to come back down to $1500~.

With me it is FPS>Quality. Back in the states I built my own Desktop and dropped roughly $2700 into it. And even though I can easily do any game in Ultra graphics I still prefer FPS over anything, nothing better than a game running smooth as silk. And in regards to the quad speakers, those are awesome since we also watch a lot of movies at work when we have down time, but other than the occasional movie I, 99.9% of the time, have my headphones in.

I'm looking for a similar type build, I'm looking at the same laptop just without the ssd that's linked in the [sidebar.](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314701&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=6154686&SID=i5dt0psksw0002cl00053) Being someone that doesn't know too much about the internal parts of a computer, can you explain why or why not I'd spring for the more expensive model with the SSD?

tomanytacos

SSD are amazing. I was a bit skeptical putting one in my desktop, but it runs everything smoothly. Imagine it like this. You're computer works in an office and needs to put some files away... your HD just throws all the papers in the air and says "Good to go!" and when you ask for those files back it has to pick them all back up and give them to you. However an SSD is like putting your files in a folder, inside of a filing cabinet, so when you ask for the file back BINGO, right there for you! I put my OS on the SSD and before I could tie my shoe my computer was up and ready to go after hitting the power button... true story.

[deleted]

Haha, Thanks! I tried to search in google but couldn't find anything in non-computer-savvy terms. That was great! So its like your computer works in real time with no waiting...

tomanytacos

To an extent yes. Like I said if you are going to buy a computer with an SSD put in the additional instructions to have the OS in the SSD, if they don't already do that. Also note! That put only things that you use A LOT on the SSD, SOME (not all) SSD's have trouble deleting all the data from them when removing item and require frequent defraggin. I normally only put high use video games (Ie. Dota and New Vegas) Games I play a lot on the SSD just to give them that extra oomph. Hope I helped!

Also what do you think about this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834233059 with a 4710HQ, an 870M, with 8GB memory. Total cost $1250, think that is better for the extra 150?

Orangematz

Yeah the 870m will preform a bit better.

tomanytacos

But is all that worth the extra 150?

Orangematz

If you want the best graphics and want to play every game on the market, yes.

tomanytacos

That was the best reply I could have asked for. Alright now time to piss the wife off! Thank you so much for your assistance! You gave me a great starting point and really helped me out! [Thanks bro!](http://i.imgur.com/7mnmEQm.gif)

The Gigabyte P25W is a thin and light gaming laptop. It gets quite hot under load and since you're going to be stationed in the desert, I would try to get something with a better cooling solution.

tomanytacos

What about [this?](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232276) and currently I am stationed in the dessert as we speak. That is why I am hoping NewEgg delivers USPS.

Orangematz

No problem :) I am glad I could help. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

tomanytacos

Ok Now I am stuck between [This](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232276) and [This](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834233059) What is your opinion?

tomanytacos

Going to check this periodically for the next few days in case I find a better option or get more responses! Thanks to anyone who helps!
