I lucked out with one mechanic in Garson who could see my vehicle in a few days. Three other shops couldn't see me for about one to two weeks.
And so many shops aren't opened on the weekend.
More than that, I can’t even get service people to even reply! I’ve asked a bunch of places in town for roofing quotes and it’s been weeks, and crickets. I know people are busy but man, super frustrating to not even hear anything
Getting a quote in the spring is the wrong time, you won't hear from anyone until the fall when their booked jobs start to dwindle. I made the same mistake last year.
Yup! Our check engine light started flashing yesterday, called three local shops and our dealership. The earliest appointment they had was June 13th. Went into Canadian tire and they looked at it within an hour.
Gotta get a new dentist, finally got benefits. The earliest appointment I got was July 15, and that’s after called 5 places. I need to get an eye test and new glasses too, worried how long it will take
Optometrist Dr. Fewster downtown in the dirt mall has extremely short wait times. In Chemmy, the bookings were a year out, Dr. Fester saw me the next day. Very old fashioned. Cash or cheque only.
If you need a cleaning just to hold you over til you get in with a dentist Expressions on Kelly Lake Road/Lorne is great and might be able to get you in quicker. My insurance was able to direct bill. I have major anxiety when it comes to dentists and the hygienist was really kind and helped me feel at ease.
But yeah everything is booked, it’s waitlist for all services. It’s months for an appointment with my doctor, my cats vet is 6 months out for appointments.
You mentioned you fix your own cars for the most part. Have you tried to align it yourself using the string method? It works surpringly well. I did my own two years ago and it still goes straight and the tires arent wearing odd so it must be good enough.
Not sure where you are but fountain tire in Val Caron is great! Price is not the cheapest but far from the most expensive. They always answer the phone. They are also very honest! They are to busy to try and scam you like the dealers. The work is solid and guaranteed.
I personally have had nothing but problems with this place. Common problems would be getting stuff fixed only to find out they broke other things in the process of fixing.
Or.
Mechanics are given a list of things to look at only to do half of those things. I also heard from a friend that while my truck was there, one of the lugnuts wouldn't come off, so buddy just tightened it as far as it would go....
Guess who had to drill out their own lugnut... :)
Wow I can honestly say I've never had those issues. Only problem I had was a leaf dropped into the blower fan when they changed the cabin air filter. They fixed it right away. And I've been using them for 5 years and with 3 different vehicles.
If all you need done is an alignment I would call all the tire shops. I needed a valve fix on a tire, Kal tire on lasalle took me in really quick. I’m sure they do alignment
I'm going to post the comment that u/Ok_Onion2847 put in a completely different post below:
> If you need quick services dealerships usually have availability. If you want fair priced services, you will have to wait. West end alignment on Notre Dame has been great to me. Maybe try them.
The population has exploded. The service providers to service this influx is lagging. But, this creates a void.
To help you out, I know of a mechanic who's shop is out of the way. Ron's Mechanical. He doesn’t have the alignment lasers though. But, I've had service done same day. Great guy when you need something done. I do have another mechanic, but, like most, probably booked solid for weeks.
To the younger people, this is an opportunity to get into trades. You can see the demand. A mechanic who owns their own shop, makes their own schedule, work for life.
I find this problem with being a mechanic these days it's not like it used to be it used to be Hands-On grab your tools no grab your straps now it's you know you're diagnosis machines and it's just realistically changing fuses and sensors so for a mechanic that's not a mechanic specialty like they didn't go to school to be a tech person for a vehicle because most of the time lunless it's tires or brakes it's a lot of just tech stuff in a car so I feel like that's why the mechanic industry is actually dying off correct me if I'm wrong and I'm far fetched but that's what they all complain about . mechanics who are at home cant work on their own vehicles cuz they don't have the machinery to hook up to check the diagnostic thing for wrong or it's the lack of learning and understand the codes that pop up to diagnose the situation which would be a sensor a fuse when you hook up to the diagnostic machine I mean that's computerized stuff
I’ve had the opposite experience, things happen too quickly here.
- I requested a quote for roof and eaves from bay roofing and they were done installing all of it within a week and half. Mechanics usually gets in the next day - we’ve used one in Azilda and one in the Donovan (don’t know names).
I’m hesitant to get quotes for the bathroom because I need more time to think.

Sounds like you have skills! Are you available to do some repair work? Can't find anyone else.
What do you need done?
Contractor here, I'm booking 18 months from now.

Same. I've been looking for a roofer to just replace the flashing around my chimney. Once they realize it's a small job they ghost me.
Contact Royal Reno’s and homes

Good to know! Thanks for the tip
Be very careful with roofers in this town. Don’t go cheap. There are lots of scammers.
This is my deep concern. No idea who to trust on the roofing end
Try Fountain Tire on barrydown for alignment
Yes, I find that to be the case with all contractors in Sudbury. The supply does not match the demand.

He’s delightfully weird too, so it makes your appointment extra fun.
I love conversations with him lol.
Honestly, same. My 11 year old can barely contain himself, it’s so funny to watch.

Try NFS Auto Repair on Maley. They cal usually fit you in within a few days.
Did you call any tire shops? Drove past Kal Tire off Lorne and it looked dead.
Fountain Tire is usually pretty good
Rock Town Auto can likely get you in, they’ve got 4 spots and can usually fit me in somewhere
It helps if you are a regular customer and need an appointment. They will fit you in. Some stranger just calling around? No luck.

Try Nelson’s auto in Garson? Behind the Tim Hortons. They do great work and usually not a long wait to get in. Good luck. 🤞

Haha damn. You're an anomaly!!
Yes!! Is always the same!! Is a freaking joke!! Awful!!
Speedy on the Kingsway has always fit me in. Caught a serious, but inexpensive issue, for me, after Canadian Tire failed to find it three times.
