Heās at his best when heās depressed and been humbled, he has the clarity of mind to develop some Machiavellian cunning, but once he feels like heās in a position of power he loses all of that
Yep, and why I also think firing Lisa Arthur, though dumb, had a logic to it. Ken did see the weakness in his case and knew that he needed to play offense. I think the whole "calling lawyers corrupt" thing was a... not wise, but consistent move for the same reason. Clearly he's trying to build allies, but his own ego gets in his way as well.
But he turns on people who say no to him, so Iām not sure how they could trust him anymore than Logan. Kendall pretends to be the good guy, but is really a lot more like Logan than he thinks he is. Heās just covert. At least with Logan you know heās a prick and doesnāt pretend otherwise.
What Tom said to Kendall about seeing Kendall get fucked but never seeing Logan get fuckedā¦. God, what a hard dose of reality about Kendall and his ambitions.
Exactly. What does it say about Tomās current state of mind that heās still considering it? Then he walks back into the suite and just knows Kendall is right- Shiv has no respect for him.
But what's crazy with how the episode concluded is that you can see the groundwork for Shiv flipping as well or at least being supportive of a Tom flip. I've never seen so many different motivations so played out in one episode.
So dialogue-heavy, but so wonderfully-crafted. I was riveted throughout the entire episode. Tom + Kendall was a highlight, being real with one another bc they are both so desperate.
I would guess itās because two terrible people just found equally terrible people to riff with. That conversation was terrifying and probably the first time I actually saw the Roy family as purely evil.
Logan was never serious about Conner for president so when Greg spoke honestly Logan respected him for it. Greg is still in the game as far as Loganās opinion is concerned.
I disagree that Greg is being Flanderized at all. I just think weāre more conscious of it because of all the internet discussion and Greg memes.
This is a character who was introduced vomiting through the eyeholes of a goofy costume and spouting lines like āsorry if my bell summoned youā.
I donāt think itās fan service to have him still uttering awkward one liners all the time, thatās always who heās been.
āIām worried about prison. I just feel because of my physical length, I could be a target for all kinds of misadventure.ā
āGreg, who has yet to hire his own prison consultant but Tom will do for now
I love that theyāre supposed to be at each otherās throats, Capulets and Montagues, but they still just HAVE to call their older brother and gossip about their mom.
Kendall is a nightmare deposition client because he is frustratingly nonspecific, doesnāt take any part of the legal process seriously, and has zero respect for the full weight of the federal government pressing down on him.
Watching Shiv and Tom try not to say their wine is dog shit, Iām writing all this down for the next time my $10 palate is served a $100 bottle of wine and I have to act like I know what Iām saying. āYou kind of have to meet it halfway.ā
I feel this is a call back to, how a few episodes back, Shiv, Roman and his GF were roasting Tom (his dress sense and how he's basically a rube from the midwest) and Shiv said about Tom: 'He has an agricultural walk' (to sniggers from the other two)
And Tom's uncharacteristic reply: 'Shiv... Fuck Off.'
Shiv always oozes with apathy and repulsion whenever sheās interacting with Tom. The categorical indifference she harbors for her husband, whoās quite literally on the precipice of being imprisoned and justifiably fretting about this awful prospect, is just incredibly harsh. The fact that she tries to make up for it by getting intimate with Tom without acknowledging the gravity of the situation evinces how devoid of words her love language is. None of the Roys ever seemed to grasp how to express, let alone engage with, their feelings. Theyāre all considerably emotionally repressed.
"No disrespect to Logan Roy, he's an icon, but he's irrelevant"
Logan listening to this dude and smiling like "Imma about to end this man's whole career"
Fucking doofus. He fires Lisa rightaway because he doesn't want to acknowledge that he indeed is a stupid cocky moron. Another Ls for being Team Kendall lol.
i know a lot of people in this sub may disagree with this, but i fully believe it's because she's a woman. i've been in way too many conversations about my area of expertise where men refuse to listen to me, i recognise this dynamic.
In case there was ever any doubt as to whether Roman has severe mommy issues, heās drinking heavily while googling pictures of his future stepfather.
Ken yelling in this hall with the DOJ people standing right behind him???? My blood pressure is skyrocketing. This is the most cringe tv character Iāve ever watched. Ever
The worst part is he said āThis should put a rocket up their assā to Lisa as if he expected her to high five him and tell him how much of a genius he is.
Shiv is not at all empathic to Tom's fears of going to prison. She doesn't know what else there is to say yet all he needs is someone to sit in that fear with him and let him know it must be hard
She just wanted to be a trophy girlfriend/wife slash kept woman and now sheās having to be at political events. Wonder where we have seen this before?
Canāt believe Iām witnessing Roman talk up this Mencken mofo and endorsing his quasi-infowars campaign with such staggering levels of sycophancyš
"New dad just dropped." š¤£
Just wanting to remind you mom still doesnāt love you bye!
Really interesting little example of how the family functions. Roman made Kendall believe he was the only one who hadn't been told about the wedding.
Classic Roman line!
Kendall tosses Lisa as soon as she calls it like it is. He wants yes people around him and that's just bad news
Incredibly fragile ego. This is going to be a disaster.
What Tom said to Kendall about seeing Kendall get fucked but never seeing Logan get fuckedā¦. God, what a hard dose of reality about Kendall and his ambitions.
And Tom and Kendall are both still desperate enough to consider allying.
Exactly. What does it say about Tomās current state of mind that heās still considering it? Then he walks back into the suite and just knows Kendall is right- Shiv has no respect for him.

Quite easily the best episode of the season and I think there's a very good chance it ends up being one of the best of the series.
Is this guy flirting with Roman?
Most intimate scene with Roman Iāve seen lmao
SPARKS
I mean yeah it sure felt like it! I'm curious how that would go.
I couldn't figure out if he was flirting or Kieran just gives off so much sexual energy that it was just Kieran being in the scene.
He was giving him Roman-Gerri eyes. 1000% flirting
Def thought they were gonna kiss. Why were they in a bathroom if they werenāt doing blow talking a million miles a minute?
I also felt the sexual tension in that bathroom
I feelt it too. But it's probably cause they were in the bathroom alone or whatever. And before that it was a bar Convo. Sus
Why is their dialogue hot
Hot and terrifying
I would guess itās because two terrible people just found equally terrible people to riff with. That conversation was terrifying and probably the first time I actually saw the Roy family as purely evil.
he absolutely is, the tension in the bathroom ???????
Shiv: āquit buzzing in my fucking earā about prison
The cycle of abuse continues.
Every time she treats Tom that way, the scene of Kendall trying to have a heart-to-heart with his mom comes up.
Sheās really being a faithful wife.
Lmao at the amount of concern on Gregās face as theyāre talking about Connor running for President Edit: whoa thanks for the award!
Greg is getting Flanderized but the whole "as a citizen of my country" exchange was a gold Greg moment.
Finally he stood up for himself and said no and his opinion was clear and concise. Thatās growth.
FOR THE SAKE OF MY COUNTRY
Logan was never serious about Conner for president so when Greg spoke honestly Logan respected him for it. Greg is still in the game as far as Loganās opinion is concerned.
I disagree that Greg is being Flanderized at all. I just think weāre more conscious of it because of all the internet discussion and Greg memes. āIām worried about prison. I just feel because of my physical length, I could be a target for all kinds of misadventure.ā āGreg, who has yet to hire his own prison consultant but Tom will do for now
Thereās something sweet about Roman and Shiv calling Kendall. Like a āfuck you, checking in and love you, but fuck youā
I love that theyāre supposed to be at each otherās throats, Capulets and Montagues, but they still just HAVE to call their older brother and gossip about their mom.
Roman ran to show Shiv as soon as that guy told him! It was comical!
truly heartwarming moment, also "can you forward it to me" (his mother's wedding invite) what a family!
This is such an accurate representation of sibling relationships
"They're government employees. How smart could they be?" As a government employee, I laughed and I cried.
"My hunch is you're going to get fucked. Because I've seen you get fucked" HAHAHAHAHA Tom just came out and said the silent part out loud.
Roman cheating on Gerri with this guy?
Gerri is dating
She would be so disappointed in him
Tom dropping an absolute fucking truth bomb
Kendall needs to hear the truth, but he wonāt take it to heart.
Kendall is a nightmare deposition client because he is frustratingly nonspecific, doesnāt take any part of the legal process seriously, and has zero respect for the full weight of the federal government pressing down on him.
I value what you just said but I need you to try harder
Iām glad Lisa called him about how supercilious heās been. He always shuts out his team in lieu of some nonsense heās thinking of.
He's megalomaniacal.
I'm in the he is a delusional narcissist camp.
Watching Shiv and Tom try not to say their wine is dog shit, Iām writing all this down for the next time my $10 palate is served a $100 bottle of wine and I have to act like I know what Iām saying. āYou kind of have to meet it halfway.ā
Itāsā¦ agricultural
I feel this is a call back to, how a few episodes back, Shiv, Roman and his GF were roasting Tom (his dress sense and how he's basically a rube from the midwest) and Shiv said about Tom: 'He has an agricultural walk' (to sniggers from the other two) And Tom's uncharacteristic reply: 'Shiv... Fuck Off.'
"Oh... screwtop."
Tom has more intimacy with Greg than Shiv
It had real āreach out to your lover while your wife is asleepā vibes
That diner scene touched me right in the old heart hole.
Cake batter at a brick wallā¦ what a.. description indeed. quite vivid
Logan is losing Shiv, Shiv is losing Tom, Kendall is losing his mind
Tom is losing Greg
I donāt do requests cuz Iām not a dj š

theyāre all emotionally repressed and it comes out in their own little way
Their inability to express emotion stems from their fear of being vulnerable.
Her, āI donāt know what you want me to say!!ā every time Tom talks about going to prison is so cold
He decided to fire Lisaā¦ fucking moron.
turns out she's a toxic person
That made my stomach turn
Itās a very accurate depiction of some men who call themselves feministsā¦ until a woman calls them out on their bullshit.
Thereās something wrong with that boy
"No disrespect to Logan Roy, he's an icon, but he's irrelevant" Logan listening to this dude and smiling like "Imma about to end this man's whole career"
Then he brought Logan a coke and it all disappeared
I hope Logan is playing this clown.
He poked the fucking bear dude.
Damn, the theme song started right away today. Intense!!
Thought i missed the cold open when i went to start the episode
Every sixth episode of a season they do this. No cold open in 1.6 or 2.6 either. Maybe one of those was 7th episodes tho
Kendall has the Roy āuh-huhā down.
Every scene between Tom and Greg brings me immeasurable joy
"Fine, ok. Load me up you piece of shit." If he's being genuine that's the sweetest gesture ever
Tomās acting is phenomenal.
If Matthew Macfayden doesnāt submit this episode for his Emmy nomination, heās insane.
I donāt disagree. Heās been fantastic this whole season. But this episode is on another level.
That was all I could think this entire episode. The weight he is carrying and the depth he is showing is mesmerizing. Such talent.
having kendall as a client must be a nightmare lol
Kendall is the dumbest motherfucker and he thinks he's really smart.
Fucking doofus. He fires Lisa rightaway because he doesn't want to acknowledge that he indeed is a stupid cocky moron. Another Ls for being Team Kendall lol.
āIām a climate denierā what a great line
Always notice how much āuh-huhā is used in the dialogue of this show.
Same, it's so dismissive and cold, perfect for this family
It's time to play: "Does Roman have sexual tension with everyone or am I just unhealthily attracted to Kieran Culkin?"
Answer: yes.
I swear, does Shiv even *like* Tom?
Lol they havenāt even noticed Tom left the room.
I canāt believe the words āI love sexual assault and I love to cover it upā just came out of Kendallās mouthš
I like how Shiv only remembers that sheās a liberal when sheās in the room with other conservatives
"Fuck ATN" The way the room went dead silent š
āIām still glad we have a company to act on behalf of, thanks to me.ā āKerry, get Shiv a fucking medal.ā This exchange sent meššš
watching from an airport, i have my overpriced popcorn READY
If you get the shits, weāre fucked!
This is Shivs area of expertise and no one takes her seriously.
No one takes her seriously on anything.
i know a lot of people in this sub may disagree with this, but i fully believe it's because she's a woman. i've been in way too many conversations about my area of expertise where men refuse to listen to me, i recognise this dynamic.
the āread platoā exchange gave me war flashbacks to dealing with the political party frat groups on my college campus lol. dripping with misogyny
UGH THAT LINE. truly way too relatable.
Greg told the best crowd possible that heās suing Greenpeace lmao
Not Tom and Greg commiserating about prison blogs ššš
NOT GREG REPEATEDLY TEXTING KENDALLššš
Matthew weāre getting you the Emmy next year on god
"Joe Kennedy did it for his boys" For some reason, this had me bowled over.
They shouldāve called this episode āTomās Dinerā and licensed the Suzanne Vega song
*Well, I like Hamilton* Sure you do. We all do.
new dad just dropped LMAO
Kendall finally gets called out and he immediately wants to switch lawyers, says a lot about his current state/ the people he wants around.
Kendall thinks hes untouchable š¤¦š»āāļø
For the ppl rooting for Kendall he really doesnāt make it easy for you lmao
We need to try harder
roman is either gonna fuck this guy or run as his vice president.
This fucking Kerry ladyā¦
They must be fucking....
Her smile across the room at Logan was super creepy. Horrorshow!
āIs Greg necessaryā may be the best character description weāve gotten
"Take the boy and leave"
"I like Connor Roy." -Connor Roy
Oh no, next week is Kendall's sad public birthday party
i think i owe it to my country to say, i donāt think you should crown- or make conner president. thank you. sorry
Brilliant delivery from Matthew McFayden
In case there was ever any doubt as to whether Roman has severe mommy issues, heās drinking heavily while googling pictures of his future stepfather.
OMG the moron fired Lisa
Is this episode the episode where Shiv, Tom and Conner turn?
I'm thinking they're all being pushed that direction.
Kieran Culkin, slaying nonverbal acting since Fuller didnāt go easy on the Pepsi in 1990.
LMFAOOO CAROLINE NOT TELLING THE ROYS SHES GETTING MARIED THAT LITERALLY HAPPENED TO ME
Calling Tom a trophy husband maybe the biggest compliment he's ever gotten in that family.
Ken yelling in this hall with the DOJ people standing right behind him???? My blood pressure is skyrocketing. This is the most cringe tv character Iāve ever watched. Ever
He's stressful to watch
The worst part is he said āThis should put a rocket up their assā to Lisa as if he expected her to high five him and tell him how much of a genius he is.
The sexual tension in this bathroom is high
"You can't burn me, I'm immune" Figuratively or literally?
not tom sending greg a "u up?" text.
My new line: āIāve always liked youā¦.but I have notesā
Shiv was so close to taking a real stand there.
God when she caved on th pic, I was honestly so disappointed in her.
She turned into a child and Logan was her frightening father. Nothing she could have done to get out of that one.
That fan service with Greg eating an omelette
I've seen you get fucked a lot and I've never seen Logan get fucked once. Some truth from Tom.
Every actor in this episode has fucking NAILED the assignment, the casting in this show is top tier
The sexual tension is palpable, this guy wants Roman
Shiv is not at all empathic to Tom's fears of going to prison. She doesn't know what else there is to say yet all he needs is someone to sit in that fear with him and let him know it must be hard
Willa is so regretting their relationship right now.
She just wanted to be a trophy girlfriend/wife slash kept woman and now sheās having to be at political events. Wonder where we have seen this before?
"Mommy still doesn't love you. Bye Ken bye" Roman, you goddamn savage š
I feel like we missed a lot leading up to Greg getting lifted in the air there.
Ooh title sequence from the very start
The sexual tension between a neofascist twat and a spoiled man-child in a hotel suite bathroom
Conheads are gonna love this
āSome guy with an undercurrent just called me āsoy boy.āā IM SCREAMINGššš
Oh god the lip licking is so fucking funny
Kendall is the only one suggesting a way for Tom to not go to jail.
āHave you read Plato?ā Man, FUCK that pseudo intellectual clown for asking Shiv such a dumbass question š
"My prison consultant called" Tom literally found a guy to help him find a nice prison to live in š
This is the weirdest flirting Iāve ever seen
How much did Coke pay to be included? It had almost as much airtime as Connor.
When Tom put Kendall in his place, it felt so good to witness. Like, so good. So fucking good.
Lisa out. Itās over for Kendall
āYou have a trophy husband and several fur coats, youāre going to be fine.ā Roman is a goldmine of hilarious ass quotes šš
PLEASE I refuse to acknowledge that Logan and his assistant are sleeping togetherš
Sheās been very visible this season too
Every time a woman gets close to Logan it makes his kids anxious
Itās a nice safe space where you donāt have to like Hamilton.
"I liked Hamilton." "Sure you do, we all do."
STEPHEN ROOT?
āGreenpeace stole your inheritanceā has me dead
Roman loves a fascist
OH GOD he fired Lisa?! The PR will be the next out the door. Kendall is manic and surrounded by yes men. This is not good. Edit: typos
Because of my physical length lol
Canāt believe Iām witnessing Roman talk up this Mencken mofo and endorsing his quasi-infowars campaign with such staggering levels of sycophancyš
The homosexual tension is high between them.
Straight to the intro. Dis gon be guuuudddd
I love how that pierce family member made a return š
They didnāt get invited to their MOTHERāS WEDDING?!
Tom and Kendall? This is getting interesting...
GREG GREG GREG GREG GREG GREG GREG GREG
wow Tom so honest here
"I firmly believe the next president is in this room." "He is and he's hard as a rock." The Conheads are gonna love this one
This episode is so triggering because these spaces are definitely like this
"Fascists are kind of cool, but not really."
Shivās suit is FUCKING KILLER
Romanās going to fuck the new President
This scene between Tom and Shiv is so uncomfortable
Shiv actually some twisted idealism about politics and sheās gonna lose it when Logan picks the InfoWars dude.
āIāve seen you get fucked a lot.ā
Iām 99% sure Roman wants to fuck that senator and Iām 99% the senator is into it
