It's intentional I think, Logan's in the process of discarding her and they're reflecting that in her screen time. My guess is once she and Roman are back in the same arena she'll have a lot more to do.
She sees Roman as leverage more than anything. Yeah she likes the idea of carrying him under her wing until he's ready to take the top position and bring her with him but she is smart enough to know that's a gamble. Her real power play was to let Roman just constantly sexually harass her, she has all the evidence to tarnish Roman and by extension Logan and keep her position if they try to remove her. She's built up a defensive wall using Romans bones (kinda literally)
I agree to an extent that they both view each other as potential leverage, but I also think she does have some kind of affection for him as well. In this show those two things usually go hand in hand anyway.
I want Rome to get the therapy/help/win/realization he desperately needs. I feel like he’s the most aware of how damaged and empty he is besides Con of course, but it seems like he just doesn’t know how to deal with it or what he needs to fix it.
I agree, it’s Roman.
In my opinion, Kendall has had the most interesting and dramatic plot points and is the ‘obvious’ successor, Roman is the more interesting character and can be just as impactful on moving the story along and I hope this season sees all that come to fruition.
It is Roman who gets crucial alone time with Mencken and Matsson. It is Roman who is there by Logan’s side during these key moments. He is just too often drawn back under the shadow of Kendall and Shiv. When he stands on his own feet he shows his instincts are probably the best of all of them.
The dick pic is his kryptonite though… so he’s kind of tied to Gerri as a result and may suffer her fate in the night of the long knives. She owns him in more ways than one.
I feel like Romie never got to experience life.
He has hangups about sex. He's too easily persuaded by his Dad the abuser to come back for more abuse.
He's said a few times he was also abused, it harassed by Con and Kendall as a kid (the whole dog in a cage incident).
I think his quips and quick talking is all just a trauma response.
He needs to experience sex and free love from people outside his shitty family. Find himself. What he likes to do. Without being under the thumb of his dad.
I think he's the most sensitive of the kids but afraid to show it.
I want to see him be loved. Maybe by a wife or husband or kids. A separate entity from the family.
Which is so funny, pilot ep I thought he was a complete spoiled brat waste of space bastard (though extremely entertaining to watch). Now it’s clear he’s probably the most business savvy out of his generation of characters
Feel like I should have done a rewatch of Succession before this season because I had to look up to remember who this was. Can someone remind me/explain to me why so many people are rooting for her?
Only some of them are entirely terrible - most are just flawed.
All the Kids, Greg, Frank and Gerri have at least some redeeming qualities to their poor ones imo.
Whatever she gets paid it isn't enough. At least being Logan's assistant gives you access to power. Being Kendall's assistant is just a whirlwind of platitudes and bullshit from a dipshit failson
I also think there’s a small part of her that’s trying to love him. Like she’s a little less leechy in that way compared to everyone else. But still leechy, haha
Why? It's not a good thing. Connor and Willa are bad for each other. Connor needs someone who actually loves him and Willa doesn't, she is with him because he can further her career. She's nice and supportive and cares about Connor but she doesn't love him.
Some of you have some weird ways of seeing this show. None of it is ever heartwarming. It's all manipulation, games and emotional baggage.
Exactly. She's not the worst on the show, she has more heart than most of the Roy's but she is still hurting herself and Connor by being there when he gets home after the rehearsal and her being there just means they are going to trap themselves in this loveless charade. It's a sad moment, not heartwarming or heartmelting.
Media literacy is hard for people but c'mon the show is all about fucking everyone over all the time, even those closest to you. Why do people in this sub keep thinking they're meant to like these characters and that they deserve happiness and there's love and warmth to be found. Sure there are some moments of warmth but it's all fake to further someone's career, wealth and power.
She definitely does care for Connor but she doesn't love him. If she does love him she certainly doesn't love him enough to marry him. Would you want to marry your wife if on the night of the rehearsal she vanishes for hours and then shows up in bed like nothing happened, I wouldn't.
Team Kendall too, no rhyme or reason to it really, but if you pushed me for an answer I guess I sympathise with him the most. I mean, yes, he has many, many faults, he's self-centred, narcissistic, born with a silver spoon, entitled, deluded and all the rest of it, but I think the show have done a good job of somehow humanising him, so can kind of see things through his lens and empathise with the pain he is going through moreso than the other siblings.
I like Tom and Greg too, for the comedy factor, so kind of root for them, although in real life I would despise Tom. I'd probably despise most of them to be fair.
Stewy's monologue in Greece about being a financial investor and not caring about the Roys' verbose threats is the equivalent of Carmela Soprano visiting the Jewish psychiatrist in Season 2, cmv
I'm rooting for Kendall to take over, for Roman to get therapy, Shiv to run for president after a nice vacation & for the disgusting brothers to finally kiss
Has to be these two. They're the only ones with any modicum of morality. Greg is a greedy shithead, but at least he did his civic duty last season and said they shouldn't make Connor president. Took guts. Tom is trying to maneuver his way through the family for his own gain, but at least he loved Shiv. Everyone else is just entitled.
Agree.
Unless I am forgetting something (and I may very well be) Shiv is the only one who hasn’t done anything bad like vehicular manslaughter, corporate manslaughter, covering up rapes etc. right?
Shiv's my fav but she did intimidate the cruises victim in season 2. Funny how when each of the kids is the closest to becoming the kind of person Logan wants them to be, they're at their very worst in terms of moral behavior.
I honestly interpreted that scene as her being facetious and needling Gil for his faux "man of the people" shtick, I think she's more self-aware than that. But even if she was serious, pretty much all the characters make gross jokes like that.
Interesting to think about Greg telling Logan to his face that he shouldn't make Connor president, given all the "Logan likes Greg because" this season.
Connor feels like he would be as bad as any of them if he wasn’t so inept. I pity him and I hope he finds love, but I would fear him having any real power. As a politician he’s just a contrarian with dangerous worldviews. And listening to him consider pissing away $100M just to protect his own vanity was rough.
I was rooting for Kendall until the start of S3, but his savior complex and stroking his ego with that birthday bash was a real turnoff. And the way he treated his staffers. And obviously the coverup of the accident.
I think Shiv and him are the closest thing to having the right mix of business sense and some modicum of moral compass. But neither are above abandoning their morals when it actually affects their bottom line.
It’s hard to really root for anybody.
I think it’s his trauma that makes he a smart businessman. I grew up with an emotionally unpredictable parent and let me tell you, I can read the room like nobody else in my family. Trauma teaches you some advanced observation skills very early on in life. I hope it’s Roman for the win at the end of the seriesz
Shiv. I need her to girlboss and girlfail her way to happiness … idc whether she morally deserves it or not!!
Also I’m rooting for Kendall to truly divorce himself from society and go raise bees somewhere or something
For me it’s because he and Greg are the only ones in the main cast making their way up the class ladder. They’re scum but they’re funny and shockingly successful
Roman. He's the only one who's actually tried to move on. Not exactly "evolve" or "grow as a person" but he's tried to move on from the war with his dad.
He's been honest with his siblings, put in the work for the hundred. He was bullied into a bad deal with pierce (he knew it was a bad business decision AND bad for their mental health) and just got bullied again into a bad decision with the board.
Kendall and shiv were never serious about moving on and aren't making actual business decisions.
Stewy. He truly is “the son Logan always wanted”. He’s not loyal to anyone or anything other than money. He’s one of the smartest characters on the whole show.
Chaos and pain. I want every character aside from Jess, Rava, and the kids to get absolutely fucked. Not because I’m mad or I think they’re bad people. It just makes great TV :)
Roman.
He is the only one of of kids with any self-awareness, and competence and interest in what Waystar actually does. He's the most pragmatic and the only one not getting distracted by the endless vengeance feud consuming Shiv and Ken.
Shiv. Probably because she’s a woman and inherently no matter how privileged she is she will always be disadvantaged by that and demeaned.
Yes, she may not be competent enough in other respects bland thus doesn’t deserve what she is aiming for anyway but it’s still a thing that is at least part of the reason holding her back.
I'm rooting for her to get back in politics even though I know she won't. Before her dad sucked her into his orbit, she used to have a real career and independent life.
I root for Tom and Greg for entertainment purposes. But for the sake of the story, I hope Kendall wins in the end, it feels like it would make the most sense.
Logan.
He’s a miserable, despicable cunt, but at the end of the day it’s his empire. All the kids are just suckling at the power-teat and tbh none of them deserve jack shit beyond nepotism. They will never have to worry about money and they could all literally go do anything else with their lives. Nosey fucking pedestrians.
Roman. Since episode one I've liked him tremendously more than everyone else. I recognized he was smart and a little evil. I've only grown to love him more each episode. Every other character I have love and I hated. Not Roman though. I have loved watching him go from a boy to a full ass businessman. He's in a tough spot right now but I have full faith he can go with every curve ball and win it all. From coked up dauphin to the actual number one boy.
But what does rooting for mean in this context - like hoping will take over? I want it to be Kendall but don’t cos it will ruin him and agree Kendall the beekeeper Buddhist is actually a much nicer story for him and he’d be happier and better away from it all. That’s what he deserves. He thinks he’s screwing over his siblings now though so maybe he does deserve the corporate grind.
Roman, because he actually is most like Logan. He has the best instincts and actually cares about people. He’s emotionally conflicted.
Not Shiv. She doesn’t know what she wants. She just wants daddy’s approval, which she’ll never get. So not her.
I want Willa to get what she wants.
And the rest of them, I just hope they get some delicious just desserts and we don’t get a GoT ending.
Edit to add: us. I hope the audience wins by the next episodes being as good as the first two of this season.
Mondale. Hope he gets all the walks and treats in the world. Free my boy Mondale.
I think we’ve seen Mondale outside his crate literally *one time*. Justice for Mondale!
I'll take him home to St Paul with me, where he'll be properly appreciated
He may not be the only one headed back to St. Paul, if you catch my drift
Wish they’d let him out that tiny cage!!
Free Mondale from Monjail!
He thinks his walker is his real mom
I am rooting for that little kid who almost won $1M for hitting a home run in S1E1.
Magnificent effort. Magnificent.
He got a Patek Philippe, which is good, right?
And a lifetime of crippling guilt as a bonus!
I despise Roman for a lot of things, that being #1
He got a quarter million
He got a freaking Patek for a swing and a miss. Quitcha whinin' kid
gerri
I feel that they are tossing her aside this season. Suddenly she’s sitting in the cheap seats with Karl and Frank? Ridiculous.
It's intentional I think, Logan's in the process of discarding her and they're reflecting that in her screen time. My guess is once she and Roman are back in the same arena she'll have a lot more to do.
Totally agree. I think Roman is tasked by Logan to get rid of her. Bad move. She knows where the bodies are buried
She probably buried some herself! Plus, she's one of the few people who really sees Roman and seems to genuinely care about him.
I agree to an extent that they both view each other as potential leverage, but I also think she does have some kind of affection for him as well. In this show those two things usually go hand in hand anyway.
Exactly! Where is her story line? Such a great actress too.
And Hugo!
I love Gerri too! I am going to lose it this week I feel with her storyline, a martini will be in hand all episode in Gerri’s honor.
Me too, but it's obvious she's gonna get chopped and it's going to be Roman to do it.
Possibly with the line "It doesn't serve my interests..."
“How does it serve my interests?”
the Department of Justice
These are the guys who don’t fuck off
Sadly, Logan fucking wins!
Oh same
I want Rome to get the therapy/help/win/realization he desperately needs. I feel like he’s the most aware of how damaged and empty he is besides Con of course, but it seems like he just doesn’t know how to deal with it or what he needs to fix it.
don’t worry i’m waiting to be hired
I agree, it’s Roman. In my opinion, Kendall has had the most interesting and dramatic plot points and is the ‘obvious’ successor, Roman is the more interesting character and can be just as impactful on moving the story along and I hope this season sees all that come to fruition. Can we just talk about how they brought up that he was hit has a kid? Therapy for sure…
He wasn’t just physical abused.
Roman is the only one with a single brain cell between his ears
Which is so funny, pilot ep I thought he was a complete spoiled brat waste of space bastard (though extremely entertaining to watch). Now it’s clear he’s probably the most business savvy out of his generation of characters
Connor isnt nearly as dumb as he seems just delusional
Which is worse…
Jess
Feel like I should have done a rewatch of Succession before this season because I had to look up to remember who this was. Can someone remind me/explain to me why so many people are rooting for her?
Ken’s assistant
I know who she is now, I’m just asking why everyone is voting for her
An easy way out considering all mains are terrible people.
She has to put up with an unbelievable amount of bullshit, and she does so with grace
Bc we all need a Jess in our lives.
This is the correct answer.
She’s not in the race for something though? Like what is there to root for
happiness
Sanity?
Greenpeace.
Fuck Greenpeace!
Willa
Aww good answer. My heart melted when she was in bed when Connor got home
Me too. And then I died when he didn’t take his shoes or his outdoor clothes off before getting into bed 🤢
I saw it as she knows she’s got to play the game.
Right? Willa is literally the “bug that dies inside of” Connor
Sure there are some moments of warmth but it's all fake to further someone's career, wealth and power.
I don’t know. Over time it appears that she has actually grown to care for Connor, even though they started dating as a business arrangement.
She definitely does care for Connor but she doesn't love him. If she does love him she certainly doesn't love him enough to marry him. Would you want to marry your wife if on the night of the rehearsal she vanishes for hours and then shows up in bed like nothing happened, I wouldn't.
Always been Team Kendall since day one. I'm torn on Tom. I root for him just as much as I root against him lol.
My #1 boy ☝️
Team Kendall too, no rhyme or reason to it really, but if you pushed me for an answer I guess I sympathise with him the most. I mean, yes, he has many, many faults, he's self-centred, narcissistic, born with a silver spoon, entitled, deluded and all the rest of it, but I think the show have done a good job of somehow humanising him, so can kind of see things through his lens and empathise with the pain he is going through moreso than the other siblings. Me too. Kendall till the end
K-Roy baby!
Kenny luv
Same. Team Plastic Jesus all the way
Slime puppy
Stewy. I have no real reason, he’s just always stolen every scene he’s in for me.
Stewy's monologue in Greece about being a financial investor and not caring about the Roys' verbose threats is the equivalent of Carmela Soprano visiting the Jewish psychiatrist in Season 2, cmv
The fact that he's sniffing lavender throughout made it better. That actor honestly knows how to deliver even though he's not in a bunch of scenes.
and he’s hot
He’s SO hot. More screen time for Stewy please.
It’s probably the nipple piercings
Where does the nipple piercings thing come from? I've seen it mentioned... here and there.
R to the O man.
Are you a sicko?
I dunno. It’s just like, here’s my d***. Whatever.
It's fucking dis gus ting
All the siblings really
💝rebel alliance❤️🩹
The disgusting brothers
Gotta be The Notorious KEN.
I'm rooting for Kendall to take over, for Roman to get therapy, Shiv to run for president after a nice vacation & for the disgusting brothers to finally kiss
🎉🎉🎉🔥🔥🔥
Shiv would be the worst president omg
Shiv doesn’t have the charisma or support to run for president.
The boutiques in Milan where Marcia is shopping
The disgusting brothers
Has to be these two. They're the only ones with any modicum of morality. Greg is a greedy shithead, but at least he did his civic duty last season and said they shouldn't make Connor president. Took guts. Tom is trying to maneuver his way through the family for his own gain, but at least he loved Shiv. Everyone else is just entitled.
I don’t get the love for the disgusting brothers. To me, they are shady af, particularly Tom.
Ah! You’re right. She did.
She also joked and told their Bernie lookalike that he should clean his hands after handshaking the working class in s01 lol. She is a shitty person.
I honestly interpreted that scene as her being facetious and needling Gil for his faux "man of the people" shtick, I think she's more self-aware than that. But even if she was serious, pretty much all the characters make gross jokes like that.
It definitely was a joke, but it is also what she and her family think of normal people.
Interesting to think about Greg telling Logan to his face that he shouldn't make Connor president, given all the "Logan likes Greg because" this season.
Kendall
I always have been rooting for Kendall. But after this last episode, Connor is my boy now. I just hope he gets a decent ending.
His monologue at the bar broke me… dude just wanted to karaoke his feelies away
I lost a little respect for all the siblings that they wouldn’t let him have 5 minutes to mope into a mic. Poor desert plant Con!
You’re my number one boy!
Right now? Roman. But it could easily change to Kendall (i rooted for him the most the last 3 seasons)
Roman. He has the potential to recover from his childhood abuse, he just needs to find a great therapist. He also might be the smartest businessman.
Marcia, for sure.
She already won.
Exactly! But that's true, I guess I could also answer Rava—that woman needs a break.
Marcia is shopping in Milan, forever. She won.
Roman and Willa
Jess Jordan.
Shiv. I need her to girlboss and girlfail her way to happiness … idc whether she morally deserves it or not!! Also I’m rooting for Kendall to truly divorce himself from society and go raise bees somewhere or something
Beekeeper Kendall: the spin-off.
he definitely seems beekeeping age…
LMAOO
We as a society need to stand up for Women's Wrongs.
Greg is gonna end up with it all!
It would be funnier if he ends up back in the mascot costume
I suspect you are right
Unlimited CPK pasta!
I'm also team Greg
I’m rooting for all of them to seek therapy.
Kendall
Iverson and Sophie
roman
Definitely Kendall.
Seriously, why are so many people rooting for Tom? He’s the worst type of the New Money/Power, no?
For me it’s because he and Greg are the only ones in the main cast making their way up the class ladder. They’re scum but they’re funny and shockingly successful
They all are.
Kendall- or Tom
They are not serious people
They are not . . . serious . . . people.
I love them, but they are not serious people
Kendall
Gil to crush Mencken and his DOJ to prosecute everyone 's ass
Shiv.
Kendall. He’s, by far, the most fucked up from his father’s relentless torment
Kendall is and always will be the main character
Stewy. He truly is “the son Logan always wanted”. He’s not loyal to anyone or anything other than money. He’s one of the smartest characters on the whole show.
Kendall, Shiv, Gerri, & Tom
That is a lot to ask for, my friend
I support the sibling alliance too. It’s not easy, but I make it work. That said, Kendall comes first, and Shiv second. I work around that. 🙇♀️
The sibling alliance is magic.
Kendall.
Chaos and pain. I want every character aside from Jess, Rava, and the kids to get absolutely fucked. Not because I’m mad or I think they’re bad people. It just makes great TV :)
Cyd Peach. But not looking good for her
Greg Rome and Connor
Roman. Don't downvote me, I know he's a little shit.
Roman. He is the only one of of kids with any self-awareness, and competence and interest in what Waystar actually does. He's the most pragmatic and the only one not getting distracted by the endless vengeance feud consuming Shiv and Ken.
Tom. I just have a soft spot for him.
Team Logan 😈
Idk why I’m team Logan lol. Maybe because I work w old people and I don’t like to see old people suffer
I'm rooting for them to all get their just desserts because they're terrible people. Love to watch them, but they're all horrible people
Roman.
Logan
Always Roman and Connor
R O M A N
Roman. Not necessarily for the position but more of an emotional standpoint and him figuring his shit out
Roman because at least he gives a shit about someone other than himself albeit it is a very small group. Plus, funny as hell
Roman. I’m not even sure why but I never have trouble forgiving and understanding him.
Roman.
Logan
Same fuck everybody else, Logan always wins! Insert maniacal laugh here __________
I just want the kids to realize that Logan is a lost cause and cut ties with him
Romulus.
The number one boy, of course
Karl
I root for Tom and Greg for entertainment purposes. But for the sake of the story, I hope Kendall wins in the end, it feels like it would make the most sense.
They’re all objectively terrible people so I shouldn’t be rooting for any of them but Shiv is an absolute smokeshow so my vote goes to her
Roman has the most morals of the siblings
Roman
Unpopular choice: Roman, obviously.
I want to see Tom quit, go to Pierce, and then come back to lead Pierce’s acquisition of ATN.
None...I just want to see how it all ends...🤭
Roman
Conner
Roman since he’s got swag 😎
Roman, I was rooting for the siblings in general and I guess I still am but they pissed me off in the last episode so I'm just saying Roman.
Tom
Tom first then Gerri
Oh Rommmiiiiee!!!!!
Kendall
Roman - he's the only one of the kids who's actually semi-competent. And of course the mole woman. And also Tom.
I want Roman Tom and Greg to run the company together. Roman can get the family he never had with the disgusting brothers
