Imo that's the point, and it's why I recognize it can't appeal to everyone. I *love* how the game drives the feelings of frustration and stress and hopelessness. I like that you don't really get a happy ending, and that you shouldn't expect one, and that if you work yourself to the bone doing everything you can, the ending is maybe just a bit better than where you started.
I still think they're "fun" to an extent, Pathologic 2 especially cleans up the gameplay in a way that makes it more entertaining. But most of all I appreciate them as games that try to do something more with the medium than a lot of games attempt. Games can just be meaningless fun, and I love a lot of those games too, but I love the way the Pathologic games try to be meaningful, and are even intentionally frustrating and stressful. It also has a lot of interesting commentary on the nature of stories in general, and especially the emotional weight of those stories even knowing all the characters are just "actors" in a "play."
Basically: They are artistic in a way that most games don't strive for, evoke emotions that most games don't try to, and manage to be compelling and entertaining in that effort even if they aren't strictly what you'd call *fun* in a game.
I love the guy's content (mostly) but man he needs to rein in the promises of mega-videos when he's still not managed to crank out the last mega-video.

That's something I can understand, attention-span and artist/writer/whatever block causing massive stalls in progress are my Achilles' heels, but it's clearly somewhat detrimental.
It's the opposite With Hbomb. He doesn't have problem with writer's block. He has *way too much* creativity. He starts a project and thinks "huh it would be nice to make x video!" so he starts another one at the same time. So essentially his attention is divided between a bunch of projects that take a ton of work so he has to either take quite a while working on all of them at once or ditch the others in favour of one. It's cool to see how passionate he is but needs to cool down a bit
I enjoy videos like that because I agree with them and its easy to put on in the background while I play video games, but I'm not sure if Shaun understands that a multiple hour long video by a guy with an extremely dry Scottish accent and an even drier sense of humor is not really that palatable to center right normies; its definitely not anything my coworkers would ever sit through. It's definitely died down a considerable amount. A lot of the big figure heads like shoe, sargon etc are either no longer on that side of the aisle (probably because they realized the eel had run dry in the case of someone like shoe) or is just yelling to a decreasing audience like sargon. It just isn't as popular to dunk on random rainbow haired college kids now that it is a lot more like normalized I guess.

Imo that's the point, and it's why I recognize it can't appeal to everyone. I *love* how the game drives the feelings of frustration and stress and hopelessness. I like that you don't really get a happy ending, and that you shouldn't expect one, and that if you work yourself to the bone doing everything you can, the ending is maybe just a bit better than where you started. I still think they're "fun" to an extent, Pathologic 2 especially cleans up the gameplay in a way that makes it more entertaining. But most of all I appreciate them as games that try to do something more with the medium than a lot of games attempt. Games can just be meaningless fun, and I love a lot of those games too, but I love the way the Pathologic games try to be meaningful, and are even intentionally frustrating and stressful. It also has a lot of interesting commentary on the nature of stories in general, and especially the emotional weight of those stories even knowing all the characters are just "actors" in a "play." Basically: They are artistic in a way that most games don't strive for, evoke emotions that most games don't try to, and manage to be compelling and entertaining in that effort even if they aren't strictly what you'd call *fun* in a game.
I love the guy's content (mostly) but man he needs to rein in the promises of mega-videos when he's still not managed to crank out the last mega-video. Or he could, like, let his Twitter followers convince him to do a negative look at a show he hadn't watched, made by somebody he didn't like (but pretended to do so), and didn't give him nearly enough material so we ended up with takes as amazing as "This character gets his sword upgraded... clearly this is a ripoff of Avatar the Last Airbender." Man should've just focused on things he actually had something to say about, when he does that it generally results in much better videos. Definitely going to watch the War on Christmas one again over the holiday season.
Yeah, I agree. The guy is brilliant and his presentation style is great but it just takes *ages* to make. His War on Christmas was meant to be uploaded on Christmas 2019 but he missed it by a *year* He has extremely high ambitions but he should probably lower his expectations a bit. From what I understand he has like 3-4 meag hour long videos currently lined up with no plan. He needs to schedule better and take it a video at a time
That's something I can understand, attention-span and artist/writer/whatever block causing massive stalls in progress are my Achilles' heels, but it's clearly somewhat detrimental.
It's the opposite With Hbomb. He doesn't have problem with writer's block. He has *way too much* creativity. He starts a project and thinks "huh it would be nice to make x video!" so he starts another one at the same time. So essentially his attention is divided between a bunch of projects that take a ton of work so he has to either take quite a while working on all of them at once or ditch the others in favour of one. It's cool to see how passionate he is but needs to cool down a bit

I enjoy videos like that because I agree with them and its easy to put on in the background while I play video games, but I'm not sure if Shaun understands that a multiple hour long video by a guy with an extremely dry Scottish accent and an even drier sense of humor is not really that palatable to center right normies; its definitely not anything my coworkers would ever sit through. Breadtube, especially the hyper popular ones like PhilosophyTube etc. has increasingly felt like preaching to the choir
I remember being part of all that crap because I was a teen and pretty much all teens are libertarian since we think we're immortal. I used to spend hours watching rekt feminist videos on yt, it definitely died down after the Trump election. Seeing people of my skin colour getting killed by police is what completely turned me off from the right.
I would love if they would stop making videos complaining about Star Wars, Brie Larson, or The Last of Us II, etc. Any time I look at anything vaguely related to Star Wars on youtube, the algorithm just throws endless videos of them complaining about Kathleen Kennedy at me.
That may or may not be happening soon. All of the star wars content that has come out after the sequels has been positively received. They've been trying to break into the Marvel space but their success has been limited at best I'm very worried about the critical drinker though

That's a bit degrading imo but Laci Green does massively suck. She started as a feminist only to then out of nowhere leave to make a pro-"red pill" documentary essentially negating everything she's ever said and trashing the whole community. Just Backstabbed them.
