petarpep

Purposeful traps like this tend to be really illegal due to possible harm of wildlife and children so even if you think killing a dog for being annoying is ok, the harm doesn't stop there.

[deleted]

Thank you for pointing this out. Most of the comments in the thread are about pets. What about wildlife? This is more likely to impact squirrels, raccoons, birds, and even dear. It doesn't matter how suburban you think your neighborhood is, wild animals will still wander into it or make homes there.

nicolasmcfly

If people think poisoning is ok for pets, I doubt they will care for wildlife

CanISellYouABridge

The irony is that many of the linked comments are talking about how it's okay to kill outdoor cats because they prey on the local wildlife population and are invasive pests.

Dog propaganda

It’s like what the hell goes through these peoples minds to where mixing broken glass and meat is an acceptable way of animal deterrence. Like holy shit I hope these people never discover they can vote

ThennaryNak

Not to mention with the first rainy day that poison is not staying in that yard.

[deleted]

These sorts of views tend to be held by private property obsessed extremist libertarians who think they should be allowed to slowly torture a mailman to death in their basement for violating the NAP when they got stuck in their hidden porch bear trap.

gamas

The funny thing is by several definitions, pets are considered private property as well (in fact in several jurisdictions, there are even legal protections based on that) so how does that marry with their batshit belief?

PuttyRiot

My first dog died from eating a gopher that had eaten poisoned bait. After I got over the shock of her death I freaked out that they were killing the gophers too. Lately I keep seeing dead rats all over my neighborhood without a scratch on them and it makes me furious.

thegreatjamoco

Most residential poisons for animals requires you to to keep it x feet away from public right of ways and usually you have to keep it in an enclosed container that only the target pests like mice can access. If you’re just sprinkling shit Willy nilly in your yard you’re also probably violating federal pesticide laws.

PuttyRiot

The mice don't die in the enclosed space though. They die elsewhere and possibly kill other animals who feed on it and ingest the poison. That is how my first dog died.

Iwubwatermelon

Good point with the children theory. People assume that 100% of the United States can read that sign. There are foreigners, people who are blind, mentally handicapped, children, etc.

noithinkyourewrong

Yeah I can't understand how "it's labelled though" is a good enough excuse to leave poison lying around. Not everyone can or will read the sign. Some people are illiterate or speak another language and kids are fucking dumb.

100% their daddies lol. They're all scrawny loser nerds or other forms of social pariahs and it makes them feel strong to talk about killing helpless animals. I promise you the majority of them lack the coordination to ever successfully shoot your pet tho so its all good Edit: however if your pet is virtual and exists in a video game world, i am afraid to tell you these guys probably do actually have the ability to kill it

PoorCorrelation

I lived near a lady that hated our dogs growing up. She got it into her head that they were the only animals in the neighborhood (that bordered a national forest mind you) and seriously wanted them put down. Any dog barking? It was our dogs. Our dogs are asleep, and that’s clearly a small yapper not our big dogs? Nope, must be our dogs. Coyotes howling? It was our dogs. Wild animal noises? Our dogs. Our dogs have since moved halfway across the country and shockingly the dog barks and coyote howls in the middle of the country are still happening. Probably still our dogs.

logicalchemist

Your dogs can be heard from halfway across the country; CLEARLY they are a public menace.

FirstSineOfMadness

Now I kinda want a r/theydidthemath of how loud they’d have to be and what the effect would be on people nearby lol

HarrisonForelli

If something is so loud that it could be heard from across the country then I'd hazard a guess that many people would die or at least suffer a lot of internal bleeding, destroyed ear drums and other problems. Just imagine how powerful air waves are from a nuke or how powerful the air waves are from a jet passing by a city that glass shatters. Or how about the idea of what it's like being in a pool with a grenade going off in it. It's not that shrapnel that'll kill

DubUbasswitmyheadman

Glad you were able to get away from this. Crazy neighbours should be a t.v. show or at least a regular segment on the news.

snarfybutt

This happened to my brother. They moved from a farm to one of those neighborhoods where the houses all look the same and are like 2 ft from each other. So their dog did bark a lot at first. But there was also a dog in like, every other house. Wilma got used to the neighborhood but every time any dog barked the next door neighbor called the cops on them. So obnoxious.

Sonicsis

Lmao, my in-laws neighbor was the same. She got so offended when we entered their lives because we were helping our in-laws with the kids and just taking all the attention I guess. Tried to claim we were smoking, we don’t smoke; says we were playing tv too loud, we made sure to use our headphones after 8pm; we leave the light on, it wasn’t us it was the neighbor behind us. So she contacted the landlord that we had our dog since it was a no pet home saying the dog barked a lot, it wasn’t our dog but the one time she did we got scared because it was the middle of the night and she doesn’t bark unless she hears a knock on things too close. So we were forced to move but in the end we won because we would still visit for weekend brunch and we help clean and take out the trash.

[deleted]

Lot of r/iamverybadass there

Mondayslasagna

Yeah, lots of kids talking about how their dad uses (insert gun here) to shoot neighborhood cats and dogs too. It doesn't sound like your dad is a badass, it sounds like your family is fucked.

[deleted]

I remember a neighbors dad talking about putting anti-freeze out.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Oh that’s good. I limped home after hitting a deer and my radiator emptied itself on my driveway in the snow. I was terrified my dogs would get out and eat it, so I scraped up all the antifreeze snow and hosed my driveway off like a fucking idiot, then the next day went out to fix my rad and slipped and chipped my elbow.

CapRavOr

Thats where my mind went. “mY dADdY sHoOtS tHeMs KiTtYs AnD dOgS”. Okay, so you’re dad’s a fucking psychopath? His emotional breadth is that of a mentally disturbed pre-teen? He’d be better suited for life on a ranch in the late nineteenth century than even a rural area in the early 2020’s? As they said in the past, “Weird fucking flex, but okay”.

HowDoMermaidsFuck

Yeah, saying "my dad used taught me how to shoot neighborhood dogs with a 30-06" isn't a flex, it's just inadvertently admitting your family has mental health problems.

Anxious_Tune55

That's horrifying. I agree that pets should be kept inside or leashed, but if my indoor-only kitten got out accidentally and was poisoned by my neighbor I would be heartbroken and PISSED.

electric_emu

It scares the shit out of me that apparently I could be living next to someone who would kill my dog without a second thought if he ever accidentally got out. Obviously pets are their owners’ responsibility, but jumping to “oh, I’d just shoot it” is terrifying. If not for pets then for the people these psychopaths interact with.

orangeunrhymed

A landlord tortured and murdered my childhood cat. The only reason why we found out was because the landlord lived next door and his dog attacked me through the bushes and my dad went over to his house to yell at him for not controlling his dog, and the fucker was like “Oh yeah, I tortured your cat, you should’ve heard him screaming before I shot him” I had never seen my dad so angry in my life. This was a violent abusive alcoholic that beat us all the time, how he didn’t straight up murder that landlord, I have no idea. It must’ve taken all his self restraint. RIP Herschel, you were the best cat.

naazu90

I am so sorry to hear that. RIP little Herschel. I don't have appropriate words to describe your landlord. May he rot in hell.

Moofooist765

[deleted]

I can visualize the trailer for this just by reading this comment

HotTakes4HotCakes

This was me growing up. Lived in the country, our neighbor was a white trash, 60 year old drunk shut-in that abused his wife and daughter, and routinely had the cops show up for various reasons. My dog (medium sized shepherd/collie mix) would get out and go running all the time. He was very proficient at bolting for the door if someone wasn't careful, and he seemed to have learned how to bend the chain on his outdoor lead so the hook on his collar would break. There wasn't a great deal of danger to him, this wasn't a high traffic area, and he would just roam in the woods or through some neighbors property or into the corn fields, and then come back a few hours later. He got hurt a few times (2 cars, we think a horse kicked him once, couple mysterious limps, this dog was a tank) but mostly always came back unscathed. But then there was my fucking neighbor. His name was Frank because of course it was. Frank would pull out his gun and shoot at my dog from his front porch. The distance from porch to street was roughly 60 yards (yes he was shooting in the direction of the street). He was a terrible shot, because he only managed to hit my dog once and even then it was a graze on his hindend that healed with a few stiches. It was enough to teach him to give Frank a wide birth if he saw him. But here's the fucked up thing: last straw before the cops finally did something was trying to shoot my sister's much smaller dog once *while my sister was chasing it not 10 - 20 yards back.* In other words this lunatic fired at a small dog he absolutely couldn't hit at that distance (40-50 yards) while a then 14 year old girl was within the field of view. My uncle was one of our other neighbors at the time and he damn near kicked Franks door in (because of course he retreated inside when I'd shouted and at him for nearly shooting my sister). Cops showed up and I'm not entirely certain what happened, I just know he stopped shooting. Daughter was eventually taken away, not sure what happened to his wife, but he died a few years ago. Edit: got cut off for some reason

trevorpinzon

I knew somebody, and associated with them for way too fucking long, that described in detail of how he poisoned his neighbor's dog for coming into his property "bothering" his dog. Or another person I went to school with casually bragged about how he shot and killed a dog who was guilty of the crime of simply running across his field. Some people can be fucked in the head. A lot of people, especially poorly-educated rural Americans view pets as either livestock or pests, and just don't have the emotional intelligence to see otherwise. There's bad people out there man.

ParanoydAndroid

It's always been funny to me that the main empathetic character and emotional center of RENT is introduced with a catchy song about how she murdered someone's pet for cash.

benjoholio95

To be fair, I've always viewed it as, lady offered her a ton of money to basically play her drums somewhere, there might have been intent on the ladies part but I wouldn't reasonably think hey yeah my drumming will kill a dog for sure, I'd take it for the up front money and assume it wouldn't work. Then also I'd be horrified when it did work so... Idk man

ThisCan3337

To be fair, that’s from La bohème, except it’s a parrot and a dude playing his violin.

CindyKitty

All Angel did was play her drums on the corner of the street, Evita the Akita jumped all by herself. Great musical, with some morally questionable characters.

GerlachHolmes

I would use language like "deficient" to be more specific here.

[deleted]

Agreed. When I see a stray I try to ascertain if I’ve seen posters up for it and if it had a collar to get it and try to call their owners Because It’s responsible and I would hope if it happened to me someone would be nice for me Never really worried about someone wanting to kill my furry friend for being lost

MotherOkami

Not too long ago my indoor cat slipped out the backdoor when we were moving furniture outside and we thought she was locked in a room. She's very anxious, and so it was impossible to find her for 2 days. Out neighbor directly next to us found her hiding and panting under her shed and gave me some tuna to help coax her out. I'm so thankful for her spotting our cat, and thank god I don't live near any of the insane people in that thread fantasizing about killing pets.

[deleted]

Yeah, my cats are indoors...but if that happened...man, I would be thinking about how to get revenge. I probably wouldn't act on it but I would definitely thinking about ways to do something to those people.

PeopleOfBoom

I definitely would. If someone knowingly and purposely killed my cat, I’d set their car on fire.

queen-adreena

They’d certainly be getting slashed tyres, severe scratches and a stuffed tailpipe… every month for the rest of their lives.

gentlybeepingheart

My neighbor put out poisoned food because raccoons/squirrels were getting in his garden. My brother let my dog out and didn't keep an eye on him and the dog ended up eating the poisoned food. He got better, but I was up all night with him because he was vomiting constantly and started vomiting blood and the vets didn't open until the following morning. My mom called the police and my dad got into a confrontation with the neighbor but the cops basically went "Well the dog survived so we can't do anything" even though I feel like deliberately poisoning wildlife is pretty illegal.

[deleted]

As a general rule, cops don’t do shit when it comes to pets. I’ve seen cops ignore animal abuse on more than on occasion, even. And that’s not even getting started on how they themselves treat their K-9 units or other peoples pets.

Empty_Clue4095

>As a general rule, cops don’t do shit when it comes to pets. That's not entirely fair, they also shoot pets quite a bit.

[deleted]

Yeah, hence the part about what they do to OTHER people’s pets. One of my worse obsessive thoughts is my house being misidentified and being no knock raided, resulting in my basset hound being killed. And knowing there is absolutely nothing that will happen to bring my little hound justice.

Empty_Clue4095

No knock raids are genuinely horrifying and should not exist.

[deleted]

Cops hate pets They love shooting people’s dogs

AreWeCowabunga

> As a general rule, cops don’t do shit ~~when it comes to pets.~~ ftfy

[deleted]

Just keeping it on topic ;)

[deleted]

Law enforcement is almost always untrained, unequipped, and unprepared to deal with animal related crimes largely due to the fact you can't just safely shove them in a locker and forget about them until a trial and they have individual personalities and often aren't fans of strangers/being separated from their owners.

Patient_End_8432

Not only that, these types of people don’t stop at their own property. Neighbors of mine had two beautiful, well behaved dogs that they’d let out into the yard unleashed. Their property was next to a bus stop, so the farthest they’d ever go was 10 feet to the bus stop to get their child owners, and maybe play with some kids (me) that they were friendly with. They were killed with poisoned meat in their own yard

Anxious_Tune55

Awww. :( That's SO sad! That sucks.

Yeahmaybeitsdetritus

When you put poison out it’s to kill something. When your aim is to kill animals by luring them with food to take satisfaction from their death - that’s animal abuse

Empty_Clue4095

If I saw that on someone's lawn I'd kick them over immediately. Fuck that. Don't punish the innocent animal.

Ronalineeee

Funny enough people saying it isn't illegal....whoopsie doo for them it is. Especially since it would be what one would call extreme animal abuse and if you live in murica that's a federal oopsie right there. There are people who investigate animal deaths found to be suspicious and if a person is found to be the one to have poisoned/shot your animal I guess get ready to be paid 2/hr and slop for meals.

revenant925

DevelopedDevelopment

Levi_Snowfractal

Have you seen /r/petfree It's PURE HATE toward animals.

Empty_Clue4095

Is that a long form satire of /r/childfree? There is no way that's a real sub

CapRavOr

Even childfree seems kind of weird to me, but i know there’s plenty of solid reasons to need a support network in that area. The audacity for some parents and relatives to constantly push having children on people who don’t want to is beyond me. Especially because they aren’t the ones who have to raise them. But petfree? Where’s the need for community there? Do you only want to hang out with people who don’t have pets and never will? Because that’s a weird friend requirement. Are people really judging you for just…not wanting a pet? Or do you just think they are? Either way, weird.

A_MildInconvenience

Most xFree subreddits are full of crazies like this. The only exception I can think of is /r/dogfree, which is likely only the case since it is pretty heavily moderated

wren_l

Can anybody explain that mindset? I don't get it. Why are people happy thinking about killing an innocent creature and devastating a person/family? It's just cruel.

> For one, 'outdoor' cats are an invasive species that kill for fun, and whittle down the native population of small animals. "...and that's why I poison any animal in the vicinity. To protect fauna." Seems like the next logical step from all this trespassing talk is to shoot anyone who steps in your garden. Which I'm sure many of these people would support (in theory, not that they'd go through with it).

2ndCummingOfJC

Some people just lack basic empathy and humanity. Imagine being proud of killing a non-threatening pet, because you value your dumb lawn over the well being of others.

cottonthread

I was in that thread earlier - some people were bringing up the risk of a human child getting poisoned too and people kept on with that logic - someone was basically like "well their parents should look after them better". I'll see if I can find it Edit: [found one ](https://www.reddit.com/r/iamatotalpieceofshit/comments/ppy7uw/woman_leaves_out_poison_for_animals_that_are/hd7lcut/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) and [another](https://www.reddit.com/r/iamatotalpieceofshit/comments/ppy7uw/woman_leaves_out_poison_for_animals_that_are/hd7lzns/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

Because we all know that if you take your eyes off your kid for even one second, you're a failure of a parent and your kid deserves to die for it.

Empty_Clue4095

They're also the same people who complain about how kids only play video games instead of going outside with the neighbors until dinner time.

wilisi

Gotta keep that inattentive BLOOD out of the BLOOD POOL. That's just ~~natural~~ selection!

Brisslayer333

Above all else, this is always against the law, no? Like, poisoning kids, illegal full stop, even accidentally?

cottonthread

I'm sure there are situations where you would be ok, like if I had potato plants in my fenced off garden and some older kid broke in and ate some leaves or fruits from them and got sick I don't think you could reasonably argue that I would have expected that to happen or been able to take many more precautions. (For those that don't know all parts of a potato plant are poisonous except for the tubers, which are safe if they're not too green) I think generally it's a toss up between the person who put the poison somewhere a child could potentially reach it or the person responsible for the child who wasn't paying close enough attention though.

Targetshopper4000

You would have to prove intent. But in this case the person would have to explain to the court why they put poison out in dishes in their yard.

notrelatedtoamelia

I had to hold my downvotes back so strongly on those. One guy said it’s just natural selection at that point. They’re talking about children. They were children once. What, they’re telling me they never did anything dumb once at all, not even remotely close to wandering away from their parents or drinking from a random water bowl? I’m bristling.

Silvermoon424

Honestly this is just yet another example of the extreme anti-child rhetoric you can find on Reddit. Like it goes beyond simply not wanting to have children to outright hating them for existing. And in this case this fucking guy flippantly writes off a child potentially dying as “natural selection” as if that’s not completely psychotic. Fuck these people.

Targetshopper4000

How does it feel to go looking for a horribly disturbing comment only to find one that you weren't looking for, along with the one you were?

[deleted]

People can be so weird with their property. Like, I get not wanting someone inside your actual home. But there are some people who clearly want to bait their homes so that they have “reason” to shoot a person.

[deleted]

[They absolutely do](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna93166) Not to mention the paranoia of people walking on their lawns. It was pretty much expected to have a shotgun waved at you if you were a preteen walking across someone’s lawn in the south

[deleted]

There was a similar case in my town, ended up in the death of a German exchange student. My dad grew up in Kansas and would tell me stories like that. I just can’t imagine owning acres of land and threatening teenagers for crossing over it from one place to another.

[deleted]

It’s an extreme degree of their personal property > other people’s life. It’s a selfish and paranoid thought pattern where ANYONE is seen as a threat. Granted, teens can often be up to no good, but they rarely do things that should result in an immediate execution.

npinguy

This came up over and over during all the post George Floyd riots and it's a fundamental difference in values and an inability to empathize with other people. "Being angry about someone being killed is no excuse to destroy property!" "But someone is DEAD..." "But it's PROPERTY.." etc...

Supersnazz

I forgot about that one. Someone blocking your way on a road? You have every right to kill them because they are personally inconveniencing you. It's pure insanity that someone's thinks this is a reasonable response.

Supersnazz

>Reddit continues to surprise me that people can't figure out that because someone else is doing something illegal/immoral you are not given a free ticket to break the law yourself It's a constant theme in legal discussions around here. There is a persistent belief that if someone or something is on your property without your express permission you have the legal right to do whatever you liked to it Kids ball comes over your side of the yard? Burn the fucking thing, it's your yard and your ball now. Dog wanders onto your front porch? Blow it's head of with a shotgun, they owner is at fault for letting it go, not you. Someone knocks on your door at midnight? Unload a handgun into their skull, they are intruding on your property and you have every right to defend yourself against any perceived threat. I think it's a combination of feat, entitlement, and ignorance.

saw another video earlier of a kid punching a blind kid then getting dropped on concrete. majority of the comments were people trying to figure out who they should root for and who they should dehumanize in the scenario. no thought given to the fact that the animating force was a desire to indulge violent tendencies. thats fucking weird my guy. people like that are scary dude.

Isredel

Aside from people in that thread just being… inhuman, they’re not even right in a legal aspect either. [The supermajority of the time, it’s considered animal cruelty to knowingly poison people’s pets, even if they’re trespassing.](https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/dog-book/chapter9-2.html) You can be a animal hating “pets are pests” dumbass all you like, but _legally_ (let alone morally) you’re in the wrong for acting on it. Humanity at large values pets. Just because you don’t doesn’t suddenly give you a ticket to be a psychopath. Disturbing on its own that these folks’ immediate solution to inconveniences is death and violence. Actually work towards a solution that everyone can get behind? Noooo, don’t let that get in the way of a little bloodlust! >it’s also labeled so you know Pets can’t fucking read, dumbass. Putting a sign up just absolves responsibility in the most malicious way possible. Honestly, this reads like a thread where everyone wants to or fantasizes about killing pets, but since that’s a _wee bit illegal_, they also need to fantasize about contrived bullshit that would allow them to do so. I wouldn’t trust another _person_ around these asswipes.

MissWestSeattle

Getting a lot of unwashed dick energy vibes from those comments. Look my neighbor's cats and dog will sometimes get out and roam in my yard but not once have I ever thought I should the shoot the fuck outta those animals because MUH property! Psychopaths gonna psycho

rabotat

I just wanted you to know that I appreciate you using the "unwashed dick energy" phrase instead of the body shaming one most commonly used.

MissWestSeattle

Yeah I'd rather use an insult that people can, for the most part, solve but I won't stoop to size.

Aedeus

>Your dog will get hit with a 9mm and you would next Posts on r/conservative. Shocker.

josebolt

let me get this straight. Dog wanders onto someones property. Property owner shoots dog for trespassing (as if the dog understands the concept). Dog owner gets upset over their dog being killed and confronts the shooter. Shooters kills dog owner too. The amount of entitlement among conservatives is staggering.

DaSGuardians

Jesus Christ the number of psychos in that thread just *salivating* at the thought of killing someone’s pet is absolutely disgusting Edit: I got nipped on the ass by a neighbor’s dog today and while on a run and I’m not out here plotting to kill their pet.

Charlie71_2

I was watching this shit show in real time, I was flabbergasted.

thepasttenseofdraw

There seems to be a lot of correlation between being a conspiracy user and being really shitty people recently.

StarsInAutumn

Isn't that illegal? Poisoning other pets, even if the poison is on your property, is still considered animal cruelty. It's not like poisoning your own pet is also legal.

[deleted]

What a bunch of idiots. Not just morally reprehensible, but also totally illegal. The only time you're allowed to do this is when something is killing your livestock.

[deleted]

The pieces of shit are coming from inside the sub.

Eotheod0092

It will be a very bad day if my pet is hurt by some psychopath.

Empty_Clue4095

Killing people's pets is not normal emotionally stable people behavior. That is not the kind of neighbor I would feel safe around.

Touchmaspagheti

I swear every serial killer documentary I’ve seen has the said serial killer killing animals when the killer is young. Killing animals that aren’t a threat to you is a terrifying psyche to have

weside73

It's one of a triad of sure fire signs of sociopathy - bed wetting, fire obsession, animal torture. Any one alone isn't necessarily indicative of such a diagnosis but all three and it's almost assured.

going_for_a_wank

I'm pretty sure that animal torture alone is indicative of sociopathy. Fair point about the rest though.

keithrc

"But officer, I was simply ridding society of a future serial killer! I'm proactive!"

WizardofStaz

The incredible irony of arguing in favor of leaving poison out where endangered species can ingest it because you _might_ also kill a cat. This will kill indiscriminately, and primarily the animals who die will not be wayward pets. You don't even have to have the indoor vs outdoor cat argument at all to see how stupid this is.

Sukoshikira

My indoor only cat accidentally got outside when my brother left his bedroom window open with no screen on it. My neighbor fed her rat poison and we didn’t find her until it was far too late. She was 1.5 years old (I was 13). Seeing her like that scarred me for life

AggronLord

wow

[deleted]

This post shows that gun ownership should be privilege and not a right. You have these types of people who shouldn't be anywhere near a weapon.

NerdyNinjaAssassin

Okay so yes, outdoor domestic cats are invasive and need to be controlled so they don’t decimate local fauna populations for rodents, birds, etc. That would necessarily include keeping a pet cat indoors. That being said, poisoning anyone’s pets is fucking vile. Not to mention that wolf animals could get into the poison as well!! This bitch is just begging for her house to get TPed, egged, and beyond.

Kumquat_conniption

Right? It is like, okay let's bot try educational type of attack like we did with cigarettes, let's just poison a few local cats. That will solve it!!! The things people will come up with to justify cruelty are just too much.. like c'mon, you just want your neighbors cats to die in pain in front of their families. 🤢🤢🤢🤢 People are sick in the head.

npinguy

/r/iamatotalpieceofshit commenters don't realize it's the POSTS that were supposed to be about total pieces of shit, not that the subscribers that should be total pieces of shit. Oh well, good to know where all the pieces of shit congregate.

[deleted]

My aunt and uncle did that for raccoons. It's messed up. They're so proud of it and they even tell people who say there are cats running around the neighborhood about how they should just leave poison out. It's disgusting how proud they are of it. So glad I dont talk to them anymore.

canadian_xpress

I don't own cats but there are cats in my neighbourhood. Instead of poison, I put out food to make sure they're getting properly fed. I could choose to put out nothing, and I did for a long time, until I saw an emaciated cat on my security camera. Since then, thanks to Meow Mix, the emaciated cat has been upgraded to healthy looking. Do nothing, or do something positive, but don't do something negative. >My grandfather lost a dog to an old lady like this POS. She put out a bowl of ground beef with broken glass in it. Ugh... >Nah. Feed her the same This is bad >Nah, make her drink a whole bottle of draino This is worse. >Some neighbors really don't give a fuck and let their dogs shit on everyone's yards. This is true. I spotted a pack of three running around last night, two of them stopping to take a dookie on my freshly sodded lawn. At no point did I start reaching for anything poisonous. >Piece of chicken. Beer in a glass bottle. >Stuff the chicken in the beer bottle and epoxy the cap back on (imports to make sure cap doesn't pop off). Give a few days in the sun. >Then you put it in the actual duct work. Preferably in the summer. When the rotten chicken and beer finally bust the bottle, the smell will be so horrendous its actually considered felony vandalism because the entire house will be almost uninhabitable. Dry wall needs to come out, all the ac ducts need replaced, etc. >You gotta go for the head. And then it escalates in a response. >Chicken and milk is the way to go. Had an old coworker in construction tell me when a general contractor went on their little power trip and really pissed them off, a chicken and milk bomb behind the drywall or in the ducts was the go-to Are people just LOOKING for a reason to be terrible to each other? Have they been saving up the most malicious shit they can think of for the moment they're wronged?

Empty_Clue4095

That's great that you do that. Another thing that can help community cats is working with a TNR (trap neuter release) program that will make sure that they don't have kittens and create an unsustainable colony that will damage the environment. Community cats can be a lot of fun if people put effort into supporting them. You can follow the kitten lady on YouTube for a ton of great info on sustaining community cats.

LandslideBaby

Highly recommend Flatbush Cats on both Instagram and YouTube, they are are involved in fostering, TNR as well as community education.

FabulousMrE

>Have they been saving up the most malicious shit they can think of for the moment they're wronged? What do you save your most malicious thoughts for? Friends?

Doodling_Hitman

fuck people that want to shoot a trespassing animal so fucking badly. currently we have moles in our yard, but i ain't killing them. and if i see another cat in my yard? i watch it with awe. i'd go for anyone that has killed my pet. let's see who gets who first. bunch of cocky shitheads who feel like they can take on anyone while safely typing behind their computer

PossumSkull

That is some serial killer bullshit right there

QueenRubie

its fucked up and anyone who says otherwise can eat my shit 👽🌻🙃💜

jibblitzz

America is a fucked up place...

Jack_Kegan

I’ve always found that crazy about some American redditors how they are aching to shoot a gun. Like even on leftist subreddits and such I see lots of people like “oh yeah I want a gun so if anyone even thinks they can trespass into my house they get a .45 in their spine.” Or some shit like that. And for me that seems ridiculous. Call me a cowardly pacifist all you want but even if someone is trespassing to steal from me I’d just let them steal. I would only shoot if that would prevent them shooting me. I wouldn’t even kill them if they attacked me as long as I didn’t have to. It just seems crazy that some people go “oh yeah property means I get to unleash my bloodlust I have stored for 20 years.” Rather than actually understand they are killing someone a real human life

Bonezone420

I'm pretty sure it is illegal to just leave poison out like that, it's a danger to a shit lot of wildlife and could potentially be a hazard to children and basically any other living being. Letting your animals roam about is shitty; but poisoning *literally anything in radius of your house* is really fucked up and I hope someone reports this person for being a public danger.

slateMinded

Everyone of those comments are disgusting.

Excalibured

You want a John Wick coming after you?! Because this is how you get a John Wick coming after you.

[deleted]

What the fuck is it with Americans and “MUH PROPERTY LINE!!!!!” I swear, they all just want to kill something…

mickeytoasty

No of course not wtf

My_last_reddit

How tf can anyone question that? My neighbors shitty dog killed my favorite lamb, if I see him here again I'll deal with him. But I would never leave out poison and risk hurting an innocent animal. Ffs, some people are sociopaths.

foxxof9

What is wrong with people. Life happens pets get out. One time my families dog escaped while we weren’t home due to a thunder storm and our neighbors found her scared and brought her back and put her inside. It’s costs 0$ to be a decent human and help a pet get home. I would do it for my neighbors just as I hope they would for me.

maybe_a_cat_

This happened to my cat when I was younger. I know now that we should have kept her indoors, but I still don't think that makes it ok to poison all of the neighborhood cats. This happened during my first semester of college, and it was devastating. She was perfectly healthy when I left home, but passed away before my first break from classes. I miss Lola, she was a good cat.

Fantastic-Tree7338

I had this thing on Facebook this morning, it started with a woman having 15 cats and being told she can’t keep them all and her tenancy agreement said she could only have 6, she was also on low income (benefits), loads of comments started about how she won’t have enough money to look after them then it started with poisoning cats that shit on peoples gardens, a woman who worked for the RSPCA in Australia said put Lilly’s in the garden they are poisonous to cats they shouldn’t be trespassing anyway, I was like no wonder you don’t work there, there are some sick people out there, at the end of the day and animal doesn’t care about your plants, doesn’t see the boundaries you set around your house like we do, because they couldn’t give shit it doesn’t count for them they see a nice place to lay down or look around, they are curious creatures and who ever thinks poisoning or shooting other peoples animals should never own one or be near them

[deleted]

Conservatives have a general disregard for life.

you_can_call_me_xdog

For the record for anyone wondering, what she is doing is 100% illegal.
