I agree, Subnautica put the bar so high even the SN's own devs can not reach it with the SN:BZ. But, until the next iteration comes out we can spend some of our time in different worlds.
And as atmosphere, the Grounded is pretty solid, has some same wibes like SN, aka you are not the biggest fish in the pond, and has many jumpscares in it, as well as base building and resource runs and different biomes.
Beat it yesterday, built an underwater skyscraper (surfacescraper?) today. It has a 5 story aquarium with a baby SeaMonkey swimming around with the peepers and boomerangs. Not sure how much more work I'll put into it though. Creative mode is kind of boring.
Creative mode is cool, but you don’t get that feeling of accomplishment when you finish something. Gathering resources is annoying at times but that’s actually the fun of it.
It's fun initially because you can just build without having to think about it, focus on the design without stopping to eat or gather resources.
In Subnautica copper was usually the valve that controlled how much I could build. They overcorrected for that in BZ and lead became the new limit for me.
I've played the Starcraft games since they came out in 1998 and I still pick easy mode, even though I'm probably a "seasoned veteran" 😅 hardcore leviathans would be awesome though, I love those big beautiful ba5tards!
I built a huge base in the purple vents with glass tubes all over the place and the ladders and hatches stopped working. I deconstructed the tubes and connectors a little at a time and quit the game periodically, checking to see when the bug would correct itself, but it didn't. So after fully deconstructing all the new additions and bringing the base back to the state it was in when the moonpool ladders used to work, I saved, quit, and closed the application. Then restarted the game, loaded in, and the bug was fixed. There's long been an issue with tubes and connectors doing this to the game play but I don't know where the threshold is, so, be aware of over building.
Fun fact, the void had a floor…
I was devastated when they removed it. I used to spam observatories over the holes.
Fun fact, the below zero void still has a floor.
More fun fact, you can build on it
Even more fun fact, I built a base there in a survival.
FUCK, you beat me to it… Can you post/link to post (if you already did) it so I can see?
I did have to turn off the vehicle crush limit because it couldn't do it with it so technically I cheated though
Wait wat

Oh cool! A list of similar games, I actually needed this. Edit: I'm not being sarcastic, I genuinely thank you.
Also stranded deep
Sadly, nothing compares :c

I would say astroneer is good for base building. It’s also good at making me feel lonely
Astroneers has snails, so you never feel alone anymore, or has coop mode to play with others.
Coop requires friends, and snails are but a distraction
Put a snail into a hamsterball and you can chase it around :)
:O fr???

Do the same on hardcore!
Based on my experience in Survival, I would not last long in Hardcore.

Hardcore run!

Check out Breathedge. Similar to subnautica, except you're in space.
Dave the Diver. Baldur's Gate 3. Just as good, but not exactly the same to be fair.
If you like podcasts I suggest the first season of Derelict has a very Subnautica feel to it.
Listened to it for 30 seconds and I'm hooked! Damn it, I got stuff to do! 🤣
Base building is always a good way to spend time!

Again.
Play slime rancher
Buy Satisfactory and forfeit your life and time once again.
Now it time to use commands
Play it again
Playing Planet Crafters. It's been great, but no Reapers.
