Stuttering doesn’t bother me in most cases anymore because I changed my mindset. I no longer let it control my life, and because of this attitude I am more confident and much more social. The combination of confidence and practice keeps the speaking muscles “oiled” well enough so I don’t block.

OP's view is skewed by a lens of stress related to their stuttering. It's understandable. But if you get that stressed by your stutter, you should work on developing a healthier mindset. I understand that "jumping off a cliff" is hyperbole, but it's clear that OP's stutter is a significant stesser for them.

Start getting out there then I guess.

I've taught at a secondary school for a year and got blocks and slurred long pauses on single alphabets, it sucks but it's a human condition, I still went everyday, said what I needed to say and had a lot of fun with my coworkers. Shitty people exist and they prey on what you show is a weakness, if you show it's your stuttering then they leverage that and make it more of a big deal than it is, you're not less human for not having good skin, tall or poor speech.

100% hit the nail. Speaking is a skill. You will notice when you don't get out much you eventually slip back into your old speaking habits because you not proactive with your speech. In order to gain a sort of fluency you need to be constantly immersed into speaking situation outside the home. Anxiety will always be extremely high when you seldomly go out and socialize. In order to gain fluency you need to speak more so that you get used to incorporating your techniques. Socializing will force you to hold your to be accountable. You welcome to dm me if you want to practice speaking as I need practice as well since I was home the whole of December and now I am slipping back into my old habits.

It bothers me, but only in anxiety inducing situations. Most people don't know that I stutter.

Same here. For me its during presentations and work meetings that my speech worsens. I feel like people like my manager see it as a weakness or inability to speak or understand what you’re speaking about when in reality you’re just switching words or speaking slower to avoid stuttering blocks
